I have to say the coverage seems to be good as I did shop around recently as I was extremely upset…read morewith poor response to claim, which the process is terrible. My water heater went out and it was going to be three to four days for them to get a plumber. Plumber came earlier but had to work directly with plumber. The first technician said nothing they could do to get plumbers to come earlier but called again and was told by another technician I could call plumber directly. I had to wait nearly two weeks to get any approval on replacement of water heater. Finally heard back from their consumer affairs concierge department after elevating. I was approved but going on over a month since this all began and still waiting on check reimbursement for the coverage amount. I was also told by their sales as I considered canceling that they are teaming up with AIG and working towards improving claim process by training their claims team technicians and contracted service providers. Hopefully things will improve before I make my renewal decision later this year for a third year of coverage. I have used a few times that was simple visits that I am sure did not cost anything above my fixed fee and the only other time I felt service was good was when they quickly approved fixing my garage door opener. This favorable end to my first year of service that was paid by sellers when I bought the house led to my choice to renew home warranty. This second year has started a bit rough.

I have a Diamond Plan home warranty with HWA. My dishwasher failed and required full replacement…read more HWA offered a $272 cash buyout -- far below the $879+ market cost of a comparable replacement, not including installation, haul-away, or code compliance costs explicitly covered under the Diamond Plan. When I submitted a formal written quote and cited specific Diamond Plan contract language requiring a comparable replacement, HWA refused to revise their offer. I have filed a formal complaint with the Illinois Department of Insurance and submitted supporting documentation. This matter remains unresolved. I am pursuing this on principle -- this lowball buyout tactic likely affects many HWA customers who don't know their rights. Research carefully before purchasing a home warranty from this company.

I have had my policy for almost 4 years. I have had 2 claims. Both of my claims were handled…read moretimely and professionally. No one ever writes reviews when things go right. There are other home warranty companies and they have bad reviews as well. I guess it is a hit or miss with home warranties. However, so far so good for me. I will keep my policy in place.

Worst company to deal with and coverage does not cover nearly the cost of replacement appliances…read more Contracted Technicians are subpar. First time I dealt with them was with my water heater having a small gas leak. They first service tech (no tools or truck) came in and after is inspection water heater began leaking water which it was not doing prior. His solution for fixing was tapping with a hammer. Eventually had to replace a part that he had to go out and buy. After being unable to address the and 125 fee nothing was resolved and a new contractor was sent out. New contract I was knowledgeable came in addressed it and had it approved for replacement of entire water heater. Although I had a policy I had to foot the bill for $750 in additional costs (modifications). I watched the guy do the work there were no modifications. Strike 1 Shortly after my washing machine began leaking first tech came out barely spoke any English so I had no idea what he was doing but determined he had to come back another day. He came back and replaced a part which did not solve the issue and also damaged the machine causing more parts to be needed. He left and I never heard from them again. New tech came out he diagnosed the problem HWA decided to replace washing machine. They offered $623 for a high end front load washing that originally cost 1100. After review from claim adjuster no change in offer. Couldn't find any front load dishwasher with same cubic feet within three hundred dollars. Then it takes 2-4 weeks to receive payment. Whole repair process took 2 months followed by weeks to receive payment They are a scam company only providing minimal reimbursement on appliances

I've received nothing but professional service from HWA so far. They've replaced my gas stove and also my tankless water heater under my sink. I am currently waiting for service to one of my A/C units that is not working as I speak. I have no doubt that it will be handled quickly and professionally as in the past.

This company is absolutely horrible! I was looking forward to leaving a bad review but it looks…read morelike my situation will be lost in a sea of complaints. Home Warranty of America handled my AC claim horribly and then managed to insult my intelligence over the phone. Their contractor recommended replacing only the leaking evaporator coil on a high-efficiency system that was still under manufacturer warranty. Instead they authorized a full swap to a cheap builder-grade unit. When I called to discuss it, i spoke with a few reps who tossed around my problem until I was escalated to case manager Suzanne, who was condescending and unbelievably rude. She even said she would reprimand the employee who had offered to look into the situation further. Zero interest in resolving a clear process failure. Would not recommend. I'm out $20K+ on this downgrade plus the out of pocket labor cost that should have been covered by my premium policy.
