This place is next to the Pepr'mint Stick. It is at the corner of Yakima St and 1st St. This place is CRAMMED FULL of '60s, '70s and '80s era collectibles. The owner is friendly and enthusiastic about his items. I will be back. http://www.that70sshoppe.com/About70s.php

While here, I got a nice history lesson about the place. All profits go to support the Union Gospel Mission and as it were, it's the old Union Gospel Mission that was then transitioned into a store when they outgrew the space. It flows like the bottom level of the hotel, and now we know why! The selection of stuff is pretty vast, ranging from kitchen items, clothing, plenty of trinkets and a pretty good vinyl section. As with most thrift stores there's plenty of stuff that probably won't go with your current house, but while in there I was able to find a good number of things that did actually go with ours. Of all the thrift stores in the area that I've been in, I really felt like this one was the nicest, knowing that everything goes towards a good cause probably meant I bought a few more things. This place is an absolute must check out for anyone who likes going searching for something you didn't know you needed!

I'm from California, so I'm still not fully used to the way food is served everywhere you go in Oregon. I was thinking, 'Espresso, ice cream, and antiques? That's different.' Is the musky smell of antiques compatible with food service? Not sure how I feel about this, but I ordered a huckleberry soda, anyway. I was curious. It turned out to be one of the best flavored sodas I've ever had. I loved the huckleberry syrup. The antique selection was well-curated. Lots of interesting trinkets and jewelry. Everything you'd expect from an antique shop, plus a gentleman's room full of old Playboys tucked into the back. Service was friendly, and there was plenty of parking. There was no wait. This is a great alternative to stopping by one of the big busy farms if you're just looking for a quick drink, or (obviously) if you're into antiques.

One woman was working; I'm not sure if she was the owner. She was mid-way through an ice cream order for the customers ahead of us, so we shopped while we waited our turn. We had items in our hands when she finished with the other customers, flipped the lights off with us still standing inside, and walked out the door to take down the open sign. When she came back in -- us standing there in the dark -- she announced she was closing. We said, "Okay, I guess no ice cream? We'll put our stuff back." Not a word. No "sorry." No "I can still ring you up or get you anything." No acknowledgment at all. She just stood there and watched us set everything down and walk out, kids and all. She made it clear we weren't worth the effort, and did it in the rudest way available to her. Two disappointed teenagers, a wasted drive, and the low point of what had been a great day in the area. Can't tell you a thing about the ice cream. What I can tell you is how this place treats people who show up before closing time. Don't bother.
