She hated it from Day one and called to say they had "tortured" her all night. She couldn't get up and they rarely changed her diaper. One time the hospice gal had sponge bathed her and I asked them to change her while it was convenient and was told that they had already changed her that morning! This was in the afternoon...They left her in a wheelchair all night and when hospice came and said they needed to put her back in bed they DROPPED her on the floor during the transfer! With the door open and other residents looking in. Talk about loss of dignity. Some of the gals were pleasant enough but lack training to care for patients. The topper is that we paid $7,000. for 2 weeks, no refunds as per policy. Since she went way quicker than expected, one would think they could make an exception! She would have been much better off staying in the nursing home. Place has a nice view and deck but needs maintenance badly! And cleaning!

Since he has arrived, he now sleeps through the night, eats almost every meal served, and laughs a lot with the staff who calls him papa. He receives regular baths, a shave and nail trimmings. The large open area affords him views of the hills and birds outside. I appreciate that his room is always clean. The staff and management are quick to respond to any needs or questions. They are working through some remodeling right now, but are very sensitive to the residents' schedule and peace. This is a welcoming and warm environment. Many times I have seen workers just sit and hold the hand of various residents during a quiet evening. It truly is a family environment.

The quality of care was not given as well! We were told my grandmother would get bathed every day and she was reviving baths once a week. She had to move rooms due to an issue with her room and while "they moved her" they broke her chair, her tv, and jewelry ended up missed included two diamonds out of her wedding band. When addressed with a manager, she avoided and wouldn't call back or participate in a conference call with family to get answers. Gifts that were sent there were never delivered, or were offended delivered 5-10 days after arriving. I live out of state and had to fly out there to make sure that the items delivered were delivered correctly. When Walmart orders for her were delivered, they were being opened and items were missing! The "leadership" there is a joke and dips and dodges all responsibility and will not have any conversation if it's the tiny bit uncomfortable. The "people running the place" are all about money and are farming as many elderly people as they can to make as much money as they can! They take no accountability, no ownership, and clearly do not have any leadership or management ability to speak to people, or have actual conversations. This place was horrible and I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this hell hole!

Maria was our community relations director. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. We got to visit a few of the rooms in the assisted living building which is only about 4 months old. The other part of this facility is the independent living, which is about 3 years old. This place really is beautiful and they have a variety of one and two-bedroom places, and two of the rooms were available for my mom. They have a beautiful pool, movie theatre room, dining area, and the place feels just about the right size and not too large, so it's easy to make friends and not having to walk too far to get anywhere. Maria was a gem, and it looks like she might be moving there. The best place we have looked at so far.

Very few caregivers, everybody sitting around doing nothing, no music, no one doing activities no laughing and very very depressing. And then we found Vineyard Ranch. The facility is beautiful and very well-kept. When we walked into the memory care, everybody was out of their rooms and doing something. People were laughing, talking activities were going on everywhere, and staff were visible throughout the rooms. Completely different environment and that made us very, very happy. She has been there for 3 weeks now, and she doesn't mention going home at all. She tells everyone this is her home and that she loves it there. She's always doing an activity and keeping busy. She's made a lot of friends. The food is good and she finishes all of her meals. Staff are always there to keep an eye on everyone. After any exercise, the staff brings everyone protein smoothies. Every Thursday they have an excursion to someplace fun and stimulating. At a time when dealing with a situation like this, it can be extremely stressful and create feelings of guilt. Vineyard Ranch has made the transition smooth, easy, and very pleasant. We are so happy to see Mom happy laughing and involved. Couldn't ask for more than that.

Secondly, you probably already know that almost all of these facilities suck and are many flavors of sketchy. NOT this place. The Orchards gives off a whole different and positive vibe from the start when you walk in the main entrance. Everything is clean, actually clean, even the patient bathrooms, closets, behind the doors, everywhere is clean. The ratio of staff to patients is SO MUCH better than other facilities my family member has been too. I believe there's maximum 50 patients. The bedrooms are next level. They have 4-5 options ranging from a shared room with two people, to completely private with your own bathroom and living room/lounge area, obviously at a higher price point. But even the shared bedrooms are awesome as they have a closet/cabinet that divides the room, not just a sheet. Makes it so much better to have that division. ***Most importantly the Rehab staff is AMAZING!!!*** The amount of effort and thought they put into the individuals rehabilitation program is far greater than any other facility we have been to. They aren't trying to milk the process and allow people to just sit doing non productive activities just so they can bill for it. They're constantly assessing and evolving the game plan as they go. 10/10 best team of therapists. hands down. bar none. The staff communicates extremely clearly and reach out if they have pertinent info in regards to my family members health, progress, and well being. Which is something I've never experienced, usually I have to track people down and it's like pulling teeth to get answers or info. The food is good, and comparably to other places it's the best menu I've seen. Don't get me wrong it's not gourmet living but they have solid options. When you see a plate of food, it actually looks a cooked meal, not school lunch slop. They also have off menu items like sandwiches and what not if your family member is a picky eater. If you got this far in my Mega novel of a review then you obviously are deep in the process and looking for answers. Every single staff member was wonderful and truly went above and beyond. Sara K, Elizabeth (Liz), and Dee were exceptional--compassionate, attentive, and always making sure my mom felt cared for and supported. Heather, Fiona, and Lisa were equally amazing in PT and OT; their expertise, encouragement, and dedication played a huge role in her recovery. Our only regret is that we can't return on a private-pay basis to continue PT/OT, because my mom left stronger than when she arrived.
