You could taste the biscuits were handmade fresh cut home potatoes. The price was very reasonable. But what I didn't like was the bacon and I love bacon. It was very bland. I've lived in Ponca city for 8 years now and can't believe I've never been here. Everyone in my family has, it's just never worked out for me to go. Yesterday was the day! My son and I typically go out and eat lunch on Thursdays. He wanted breakfast, so I did some investigation, and found that Country Kitchen does serve breakfast all day. I ordered the catfish nuggets with potatoes and gravy, okra and a salad bar. First of all, the salad bar was hekkin awesome! Bless them for having it! Boo to all the restaurants that have removed them. I liked everything on the salad bar, and they even had croutons and sunflower seeds. I could've stopped there, but my food came and I have to say was spectacular. The catfish nuggets were fresh and hot and melt in your mouth. Okra was breaded perfectly and had a great flavor. And the cream gravy on the potatoes tasted wonderful! Everyone needs to try this little gem of a restaurant. The prices were fantastic as well. I can't wait to go back and try the Indian taco. We were in Ponca City for a funeral and wanted to grab lunch before we got back on the road. I turned to Yelp to find a good place to eat! And we were not disappointed. The outside of the building would turn some of my picky friends away but I think the "dive" restaurants are usually the best! The inside atmosphere wasn't so great but it was fine. We just cared about the food and the servers were friendly. My friend's husband got the lunch buffet-he loved the fried chicken and the dessert. My friend got breakfast-looked so good with the gravy! A quaint little hole in the wall restaurant. The building looks small but it's pretty roomy inside. The wait staff was kind and the food was delivered quickly. I ordered the deluxe burrito and it was more than I could eat. A tortilla stuffed to the gills with sausage, egg, hash brown and bell peppers. The food is great and the staff are so very friendly and accommodating. Don't let the building or surroundings fool you or you will miss a great opportunity for good food and folks. Great Sunday brunch. Don't let the exterior fool you. This is a very good breakfast spot. On the Sunday buffet the meats (ham, bacon & sausage links) were well cooked and tasty, the French toast and pancakes were very good and the potatoes (hash browns & diced) were well seasoned and well cooked, but (IMHO) the stars of the buffet were the biscuits and gravy. The buffet also had scrambled eggs (they looked good), but we didn't try them and opted for made-to-order fried eggs. And just to make things better the buffet was only $7.99. read more

But...if you're wanting some genuine home-cooked food without having to prepare it yourself, Country Kitchen is a place you ought to consider visiting. I've only eaten supper there once..it was okay. but for what we all ordered, we decided we preferred my cooking instead. Breakfast on the other hand is delish!!! You will enjoy going to the Country Kitchen. It's not on the main drag but it is on a major street west of the RRNA tracks. As the name implies it is home cooking in the best sense. No. when this place first opened it was really good at a very reasonable price. That place would have gotten 4 stars. Now however I do not frequent this restaurant any more. There are some die-hard locals who go there and the owner is personable. Their menu is American/country/down-home style food and there is a small but adequate salad bar with the low cost imitation bacon bits and standard fair. the tea and coffee is not horrible. However last time I was there I spent more time fending flies off my plate than actually eating. as we were the only table in there at the time the flies had obviously been in residence for a minute. read more

I tried this restaurant's sunday breakfast buffet because people gave it good reviews on yelp. I cannot understand how anyone would rave about this place. i am basing my experience on eating the sunday breakfast buffet which was $7.99 & drinks were not included. the buffet was very small & the meats were VERY greasy and FATTY. the sausage links were extremely fatty (cheap quality links) & so was the ham (like a jelly ham out of a can). the bacon was very greasy & thin. the French toast was made out of 'wonder bread' (cheap white bread) which was quickly dipped in egg. there was also a small salad bar. I didn't touch any of it for fear of getting food poisoning. the lettuce was brown & looked like it had been in the refrigerator for several days. the salads looked nasty with liquid sitting on top of some of them. as I looked around I didn't see anyone with salad on their plates. I would have got a better meal eating at a Wendy's. the waitress staff were pleasant & aimed to please but I was there to eat & don't plan on going back to this place. if you like greasy, fatty, non quality food this is the place for you. at least don't go there for the sunday breakfast buffet. read more
