Service is excellent. Food is comforting and unique. Ambiance is very comfortable and 'hometown' cafe.

My son and I typically go out and eat lunch on Thursdays. He wanted breakfast, so I did some investigation, and found that Country Kitchen does serve breakfast all day. I ordered the catfish nuggets with potatoes and gravy, okra and a salad bar. First of all, the salad bar was hekkin awesome! Bless them for having it! Boo to all the restaurants that have removed them. I liked everything on the salad bar, and they even had croutons and sunflower seeds. I could've stopped there, but my food came and I have to say was spectacular. The catfish nuggets were fresh and hot and melt in your mouth. Okra was breaded perfectly and had a great flavor. And the cream gravy on the potatoes tasted wonderful! Everyone needs to try this little gem of a restaurant. The prices were fantastic as well. I can't wait to go back and try the Indian taco. Thank you Country Kitchen! I am coming back!

The ambiance was quaint, with a country style, homey, laid back. The picnic style table with vlear top threw me for a minute, as you can see through the cracks. Service is where the err was apparent. Initially, the waitress was on point, but after her first pass by, when she asked if everything was OK, I requested bbq sauce. She disappeared into the kitchen, then brought something out to a different table. She went to sit with a co-worker at another table. My husband got up and walked over to the table to ask for bbq sauce. We waited, but no action. The woman at the same table was yelling to someone in the back. There was a claim that the machinery wasn't working, as the guy behind us was skipped for awhile. The cook came out. My husband asked HIM for bbq sauce. Eventually, the waitress brought a cup, but at this point, it was pretty much moot. We dipped a few fries in as a show of good sport, but it was too little, too late. When I went to pay, the cook rang us up and gave us a discount. He apologized and explained the mechanical deficiencies . I gave the waitress the balance of the discount, so everyone was happy.

The gravy was so salty that I couldn't finish the bite my sister gave me to see if I agreed. Folks I salt lemons and eat them, and the gravy was too salty? Lives up to the name salted fork. Haha We asked the server for sweet tea and a lot of lemons for my mom. Unsweetened tea was provided and no lemons. We asked again for lemons and she brought out 3 wedges. I literally had to go to the bar for lemons, because the server wouldn't provide them. We asked for extra napkins. Two were provided. There were 4 of us eating. My mom asked for 57 sauce being her meatloaf was so dry, and she was provided with a bottle that didn't have enough to serve one, much less the table. The onion rings tasted like you ate display onion rings. They looked fantastic, but had no flavor at all. My Cobb salad was pretty tasty, but the grilled chicken was dry and tasted like it was a few days old. A manager passed by and asked how we liked it. We politely expressed our concern about it. He took the 3 meatloafs off of our ticket. Our server came out with the adjusted ticket of $12.50 and we paid a $20 and let her keep it. She was nice enough, but it seems like her bosses must tell her to provide the minimum when guests request it, because we didn't get our stuff with enough to work for the whole table. It was very disappointing. The pictures I posted show it all.

It's a hard feeling to explain but it was a friendly kind of an old fashioned vibe! They appeared to be regulars that came in and the servers greeted them as such. Now this wasn't a huge place so seating could be at a premium if you went at a popular time. They truly have a great place on the corner and I must say this was a great place to have breakfast or lunch. I ordered the Turkey BLT w/Sweet Potato Fries and I got the side salad for $1 more. It was a small salad bar but very good selections. I thought the potato salad & pasta salad were very good. My counterparts all order the burgers which they says were delicious! Not sure when I'll return to Ponca City but this could be my new favorite place when I visit!
