If it wasn't for my family, I would eat all my meals there till the day I expire. This establishment is the extreme, most exceptional and awesome place to eat at. All meals are all prepared superbly. I've never had to send any food back to be re-prepared. The waitresses are always pleasant, smiling and go to the utmost extreme to make sure you're taken care of. The cooks have always done a great job in cooking and preparing your meals and is a blessing to the culinary arts. This is definitely a place of heaven on earth and Ponca City is blessed to have it here. I have eaten there for 3 plus decades and there has NEVER been a regrettable moment. The food was good. Generous portions, tasty, hot, fresh and worth the price. Water was served in cute, clear mugs, with the obligatory straws. The ambiance was quaint, with a country style, homey, laid back. The picnic style table with vlear top threw me for a minute, as you can see through the cracks. Service is where the err was apparent. Initially, the waitress was on point, but after her first pass by, when she asked if everything was OK, I requested bbq sauce. She disappeared into the kitchen, then brought something out to a different table. She went to sit with a co-worker at another table. My husband got up and walked over to the table to ask for bbq sauce. We waited, but no action. The woman at the same table was yelling to someone in the back. There was a claim that the machinery wasn't working, as the guy behind us was skipped for awhile. The cook came out. My husband asked HIM for bbq sauce. Eventually, the waitress brought a cup, but at this point, it was pretty much moot. We dipped a few fries in as a show of good sport, but it was too little, too late. When I went to pay, the cook rang us up and gave us a discount. He apologized and explained the mechanical deficiencies . This mom 'n pop restaurant is as classic as breakfast diners get! Was visiting my friend in Oklahoma and when I asked to treat her to a meal, she immediately picked Garrett Wrangler. First clause- we had a newborn with us (yay cute babies!)- the staff was SO welcoming and accommodating, making sure baby was secure and comfy at our table. They went out of their way to make my friend and I feel so welcome- and that means a lot. Food was delicious! Pro tip- when you can upgrade to a muffin, DO IT! My buddy shared this tip and she was right- it's like a warm breakfast cake. Soooo tasty! read more

This place has really good breakfasts. My daughter says that their French toast is hands down the best. Tons of cinnamon which is good. My son and I ate here for dinner and there was a baby hollering which ruined the whole dining experience. They wouldn't take him out for some reason. I eat here quite a bit in the mornings. I enjoy a good diner experience that isn't part of a chain. I typically get the hamburger plate or an A1 burger if I'm there between breakfast and noon. Although the food was prepared well, and the service was good, the menu prices are to high for the small food portions. After speaking with the server I was expecting the staff to be paid well, based off the high prices and small portions. This was not the case. I learned that they only pay their servers $2.13 a hour with no wage increases expected or ever received. The cook staff was paid minimum wage, with some slightly above at 20 to 30 cents. Bathrooms were filthy, tables not properly cleaned, got a general sense that the staff was not happy with their reward versus work expected of them. Not sure who owns this particular establishment but I get the feeling that they have no desire to run a family oriented restaurant. We refuse to eat at establishments that their only focus is to advance the income of the owners, with no concern for the welfare of their employees. We do not recommend this establishment and will never go back. read more
