With a phone call, Alex set aside the bike I was looking for. It was on sale, plus a $450 rebate from the state of Colorado. He explained all of the features, and I got to take it for an awesome test ride. His team added slime to the tires, put on a bottle rack, as well as a bike bag, with no extra charge for labor. Alex and his son even took a look at a broken part of our bike rack that we got at REI. They were able to pinpoint the issue and seem to have fixed it as well! No charge. Seemed like a good place to shop at and he visited it frequently for tires and small items. However, I feel like the communication is 'over promise and under deliver' as when an expensive bike was ordered, the bike did not come until three days after it was promised. And then it had to be assembled as well. So that took even longer. To me communication is key so I'm not sure I'd recommend this place. read more

First person that helped me was super helpful but the second person was extremely rude and scolded me for returning the equipment late. I apologized and mentioned I was working at a food bank in the morning and couldn't leave. That seemed to make him madder. Totally my fault for bringing them in late but it wasn't professional to yell at me. Kent at the Country Pedaler was very helpful to me this week when I decided to buy a new Trek bike (I went with a dual sport, after Kent gave me the low down on my initial idea of an Eltra cruiser). Kent was patient with all of my questions and let me ride a couple of different frame sizes around the shop parking lot to determine if I liked the fit. After deciding on a large frame, I still had some concerns at being a little hunched over while riding. Kent had also noticed I seemed a little hunched, and recommended an extended stem to improve my ride position and comfort level. My bike was ready to go the next morning, and when I arrived to pick it up, Kent made sure I tested the fit and that the ride was what I expected. Kent then explained how to adjust the stem/handlebars, as well as how to remove the front wheel to fit the bike into my car. I love supporting local businesses in Castle Rock and my experience with the Country Pedaler was great. The reason I deducted 1 star was that I initially was promised my bike later the same day I purchased it, but was not called until the next morning. The wait was not a major concern, but I would have preferred a call to let me know the bike would be slightly delayed, but instead I heard nothing. Great parking at this site, an exceptional selection of add-on's, and they even offer a 5% military/veterans discount. Customer service is exceptional as well! My wife and I have bought two high end Specialized Roubaix' and we are very pleased with the small town shop over the larger shops where we shopped first. Alex had one and found another when the larger shops were more in the "take it or leave it " or "if you put 20% down we'll order it for you, but it may take 6 months before you see it ". We've also shifted our shopping for accessories to The Country Pedaler as Alex gets us when we want it AND he has advised us well all along the way. We live in Colorado Springs, and we visit Boulder and Denver regularly, but we are now happy to do our bicycle shopping in Castle Rock. Guys at the shop as well as owner were kind enough to stay after hours to get me all set up with a new rack and to spend the additional time walking me through it. The Country Pedaler is a great local bike shop. If you live in Castle Rock and want to buy a bike from a local retailer, this is an excellent place to go. First: inventory. Huge selection of Giant bikes. Giant owns the largest factory in Taiwan and so instead of buying from a company that pays Giant to make their bikes (although not to design them), you can cut out one middleman and get a quality bike at good prices. Country Pedaler is willing to deal as well, they had some great markdowns at the end of the season that I couldn't find elsewhere. If you want to buy a bike, they will have something for you at a price point you can afford, from the very cheap to the rather expensive. They also offer discounted accessories when you buy from them. Second: service. I was surprised how many bike shops in Denver don't offer very good service when I was comparison shopping after visiting CP. Some give you free service for a year, others give you one free tune up in 6 months after buying, another only gives one free tune up during the winter. CP gives you free basic tune ups for the life of the bike and for anything beyond that charges you the difference of the basic service and whatever level of service was required to put your bike back into shape. So not only do you have great value on actual bike prices, but you have a ton of value on service. If you service your bike every few hundred miles (which, depending on how often you ride, could be monthly) that adds up to a lot of saved money. It's a great value. Third and finally: the staff. I went in twice and was greeted both times by a very friendly, very knowledgeable staffer. They were able to asses what I wanted without me knowing all that much about road bikes and they presented me with the perfect set of options from which to choose. They had an answer for every question and they really made me feel comfortable not only as a buyer, but as a return customer--and that was before I even bought anything! They let me try their bikes and were happy to put on pedals so I could tool around the parking lot. I was thoroughly impressed by their salespeople and it gave me confidence in their ability to sell me a bike at a good value as well as confidence in the service I would receive after purchasing. Now to be fair, I didn't end up buying their bike. I wanted a carbon frame road bike and I fell in love with a Ridley from a bike shop further north. And since I plan to move into the city within six months, I didn't want to be beholden to return to Castle Rock every time I needed service since gas is expensive. But the bike at that level that I tried at CP was also great, I just liked the other one better personally. I was actually ready to buy the Giant until I tried the Ridley later in the day, but I don't think I would be less happy on the bike from CP. When I evaluate Country Pedaler as a business, they score excellently in all categories: value, selection, service, and staff. I did a lot of research when buying my bike and I visited a lot of stores. There were some that were on CP's level (the one I bought from included), but there were so very many that were not. I can't mark CP down for anything except that I fell in love with the Ridley after about 10 feet in the parking lot and that's wholly on me, not on the store. If you live in Castle Rock (or even in a nearby Denver suburb like Highlands Ranch or Parker) and are considering purchasing a bike--road or mountain--you owe it to yourself to visit Country Pedaler. You won't be disappointed! read more

Customer service is absolutely horrible! Completely ignored me when I came in with my bicycle and asked if they fixed bikes. The lady just said yes and stared at me, the owner walked by and pointed to the back counter. Thanks for the help, lady. I needed them to fix my rear brake, my ex boyfriend put together my bike incorrectly and stripped a screw. Also the back tire was flat. Brand new bike.. He wanted to charge me $60 to just screw the screw, PLUS another charge to fix the tire... And said it wouldn't be done for 2 and a half weeks. OUTRAGEOUS!! Will never go there again. I'm not even a "bicycles". My car is in the shop, and my bike came out of a box a few years ago and has never been ridden. Just need it for point A to point B. By the time they would have finished 5 minutes worth of time to fix my bike, my car, that needs $6,000 worth of repairs would be out of the shop. Rude, over-priced, and unrealistic. read more

Alex is the owner and I had a great experience buying my bike from his shop. I first went in and was going to get a Beginner mountain bike. He ordered the bike for me and I was going to pick it up later in the week once it was built and ready to go. While it was on order i changed my mind and decided to go with a much better bike. I called Alex and explained that I wanted a full suspension bike. I had a Specialized bike picked out. He did not have it on stock but he worked with a rep to get it ordered for me. After about a week the bike came in and he had it built for me. Went in and had him go over everything with me and left with the bike. He truly cares about his customers and it shows in his attention to detail and excellent customer service. I will be buying all my bikes from him from now on. read more

I had an outstanding experience and would recommend country pedaler to anybody looking to purchase a new bike or get a solid opinion from knowledgeable professionals. I did a lot of research prior to purchasing my first mountain bike and went to all of the popular shops around Denver. I had a few people suggest buying used so I simply stopped into the country Pedaler to ask the staff their opinion about a few bikes I was going to look at. After a wonderful and very educational discussion with staff member, Nick, I decided to buy new. He fitted me and helped me pick the features I would likely need based on what I had told him I'd be interested in riding and the types of bikes I had tried out. He found me the perfect bike within my price range, assembled and tweaked it to be just right for my size and weight. My 13 year old bike from target was unfixable and I needed a new one. The staff was extraordinarily friendly in helping me pick the perfect mountain bike and even let me donate my old bike to them so I didn't have to worry about it. This was in stark contrast to a bike shop nearby that wanted to charge me 50 dollars for them to dispose of the bike for me and were rude and elitist. I would highly recommend the Country Pedaler. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I went to drop a bike off at country Pedaler this morning right at 10 AM because that's when they open. The owner, Alex, didn't show up and open the store till 10:15 AM. There was already a line out front. He did not apologize to anybody for being late. I was the first customer in line and he greeted me by saying "what's wrong with that bike?" Not with "hello" or "good morning". I replied that I had talked to Castle Rock PD and just wanted to donate the bike to project recycle. He said that he only does that on Saturdays and would not accept the bike today. I asked if I could leave it and told him I was short on time because he was late and I had to get ready for work. He told me no and to bring it back on Saturday. I'm now running late getting ready for work which is one of my pet peeve's. I've been in that store a couple times and have always been very irritated with my customer service experience. Which stinks because I like to support local businesses. read more

I ended up riding there because I wasn't too far and ended up buying new tires and he fixed them right away! Great customer service! Very upset with this shop. I came in from out of town with my bike barely dissembled in a bike box (handlebars, seat and peddles just needed to be put back on). My mom went in to try and surprise me by having them get it ready for me and they charged her $80 to put on the seat, handlebars and peddles. They COMPLETELY took advantage of my mom and when I called in to confirm how much they usually charged for an assembling they answered $60. Normally shops will charge more than $30. Unethical. This place is great. I hemmed and hawed about every little thing when buying my first road bike, it was a lot of money to me and i had no idea what to look for. They were so patient and informative even though i stopped in repeatedly with what were probably dumb questions. I considered buying a bike online but am so glad i bought from them. Whenever i have questions or need tweaks or help with my bike they always help me and are super nice about it. It is invaluable to have a great resource close to home so i never have to miss a ride. I am so thankful to have found them and so happy to have bought my bike from them. I honestly don't think i would have gotten as good of service elsewhere, especially the ongoing help. DO NOT trust these guys with your bikes. I have learned my lesson the hard way. I had taken my mtn bikes to them 2 times before and their techs messed up each time. They rebuilt my shock twice and it still leaked so I took it to a better shop and had it done right. They couldn't even get a simple tune-up right (before I learned to do my own). I went one more time this weekend, because no other shop could squeeze me in. Simple brake bleed and check rear pads. I told them the fronts were pretty new. Not only did they replace the pads that didn't need it but they replaced a rotor without calling. The rotor absolutely DID need to be replaced but I have one on hand and it's a 10 minute fix. Information they would have known if they had bothered to call for authorization. They didn't like the term I used to describe them but I didn't know what other term to use for someone that does work that is not authorized and work that is not needed. My $55-$100 estimate came in at over $180. read more

We purchased a new Giant bike there and took it back for warranty work and the free tune which came with the new bike purchase. When we inquired about having one of the broken shifters being repaired/replaced , Nick (store Mgr) blamed us for the shifter breaking and refused to even discuss it with us. Nick stated we must have broken it (even though there was not any signs or damage/scratches on the handle bars, brakes or shifter knob. We even offered to pay the wholesale cost of shifter, so it didn't cost the store any money. The only thing they wanted was to charge us for an item which should have been covered under warranty. When we purchased the bike and overpaid for it, I justified it by "supporting the small local business in Castle Rock" and buying in the community. But since the Country Pedaler customer service was the worst I have ever experienced, I would like others to learn from my experience and shop/support the other local bike shops and please DO NOT SUPPORT THE COUNTRY PEDALER! I would give this place zero stars if I could. They are a disreputable company the quotes one price and then when you pick up your bike it is another price. I brought my sons bike in to get a simple break repair . I was almost charged double the price of the quote.
