Act like they're afraid of my pet even though she was drugged. She did growl but the vet never called a tech in to assist holding her. In all my years of taking pets to vets I've never had the vet examine my pet without an asst or tech....thus her "checkup" was quick and scant. I took her back for anal gland issue and she's been worse than before we went. I liked the fact it was closer to where I lived but I won't compromise my cat's health just for a shorter ride to get there. I will add the receptionists were very nice and helpful though. read more

We bring our senior dog here, and after moving to Champaign from the Chicago suburbs, we were initially nervous about finding a new vet, especially since she has a heart murmur. She had been a regular at our old vet for nine years, and a couple of other vets in the area actually turned us down. Thankfully, we found Country View. They are very accommodating, and every employee we've encountered has had a wonderful attitude. They treat our dog amazingly, and the receptionists are extremely communicative. Our dog also had a small operation done here, and it went very smoothly. The doctor was very helpful in educating us on everything they would do with our dog, and the vet tech she was with the day of her surgery was very caring. I could truly go on and on about how great she was. She made sure our dog was comfortable the entire day of surgery, from drop-off to pick-up time. read more

INHUMANE. Today I had to bring our elderly chihuahua to Country View to be put to sleep. Two years ago we had to have an elderly chihuahua put to sleep and brought her to VCA in Kankakee, and it was a very calm and easy 2-shot procedure, while I held her, for about $200. I pleaded with Country View to do it as quickly as possible when I got there today since my dog was experiencing a great deal of anxiety. They required I listen to the cremation sales pitch first and pay in full, over $300, before they would begin. Then they said they would take him in back for one injection, then wait for him to get sleepy so they could insert an IV port into his leg. I questioned this procedure but they said it's how they always do it. So they took him away and brought him back to me even more stressed. After a few minutes he relaxed in my lap but then began choking and coughing. He struggled to breathe for a good 10 minutes until they came in to lay him on the table and shave his leg and put in the port. They kept giving him saline for what seemed like forever, then finally gave him the lethal meds. In a long lifetime of having pets I have never been more disappointed in a veterinary clinic and will never go back. read more

Was not disappointed and found the new staff to be as kind and helpful as the old ones. You always want your pets to receive loving care from your vet and my cats both got that. We never had vet services rendered at Countryview for our dog, but they were our go-to for boarding. Our dog, Cosmo, really came to know and trust the caretakers. Mary, in particular, was an angel. Animal lover, attention giver, any pet would feel the center of attention. Mary is a rare gem in these days. When we took Cosmo today to end his suffering, the whole staff was accommodating, caring, and compassionate. Mary in particular was willing to come out and wish her buddy goodbye, and her love of animals showed with farewell hugs and kisses. A very tough journey made easier by these folks. read more

I actually live in the apartments behind this place, and let me tell you -- ugh! I have learned to deal with the constant barking at 7 am on weekends (after all, it was my dumb butt that did not see the outdoor kennel cages prior to signing the lease!) without complaint, but something I observed this morning made me so angry that I had to yelp about it. This morning, I awoke at 8 to a strange experience. I could hear thunder and rain smacking on my window, but I also heard barking. It had taken a while to wake me up, but I know that the barking had been going on since around 7:30. This seemed odd, so I got up to look out my window. There was a lone dog left outside in the running area. It was 42 degrees outside and pouring rain!!! The poor animal was jumping up on the back door, crying and barking to get in. I was furious and immediately fired up my computer to look up the number for Country View -- or, if that failed, the police! However, by the time the computer was up and firefox had opened, they had finally let the poor guy in. I couldn't freaking believe it. I'm an animal lover, and I would NEVER trust my pets with those people. Edit: Very similar thing just happened again today (3/14/2010). Poor animal was outside, barking his poor head off at their back door to be let inside. I could hear him through my closed windows AND my earplugs (yes, I wear earplugs to bed because of their constant 7:30 am barking!!). I tried to call them to alert them to this and insist that they stop being so unkind, but as they don't have Sunday hours, all I got was their automated voicemail prompt. This establishment disgusts me. read more

This is a fantastic vet clinic. Growing up on a farm and participating in 4H, I feel that I have the best veterinary experiences visiting Country View. The staff is relatively young but very professional. I highly recommend Dr. Robin Hadley, one of the four vets on staff. I recently adopted a shelter cat; Country View gave me my first visit free for adopting a shelter pet and gave me a great deal ($$) on the visit comparably. My cat is a bitter, especially since he was having an ear and eye infection, but they handled him with care and a good sense of humor. Also, because this was our first visit they gave me a great folder to keep track of all of his medical visits, vaccinations, etc. They seem to have thought of everything. They were also really great about answering my questions, giving me options (whether I wanted to get flee medication month-by-month or in bulk, etc.) and stayed within a budget I could manage as a graduate student. They really went out of there way to be kind, and did I mention there was absolutely no waiting: very efficient. The waiting area is also separated into two entrances, one for dogs and one for cats, so your pets do not freak out if they aren't used to dogs, for instance. And speaking of thinking of everything, a few days after our visit I received a thank-you card in the mail with a hand-written note for being a new client. The care was great, the staff was friendly, professional and efficient. I highly recommend them; you really know that your pet is taken cared of, you won't be over-charged and they will give you all the information you need. read more

This vet clinic is sheisty. I spent a great deal of money in this place and agreed to all of their recommended vaccinations, physical, etc. And, yet, they had the nerve to bill me for a nail trim they never even did. I was looking at my dog's nails and then called them to tell them they may have forgot. Their response was..."He was struggling a lot and the technicians said they were only able to do some of them." But, I looked at his nails and not a single nail was clipped. And, then offered to do it since I called and confronted them about it. Sheisters! If he was struggling-- fine. Don't do it and tell me about it. And, for god's sake, don't bill someone for something you didn't do! So, I told them to just credit my debit card and I will get it done elsewhere. read more

Wow, I was not sure what to expect from this clinic but I called them with an emergency for my CKD cat and they were able to accomodate an appointment the next day. The receptionist was super nice (I wish I had her name to give her props). The Dr who took care of my cat had great bedside manner. He was thorough and explained all options. Gave us estimates of everything in writing prior to starting treatment. Even shared a copy of his notes for our care documentation. We asked for prescriptions to fill at the pharmacy as cost was a concern to us and he was happy to oblige. If we weren't moving, I would keep bringing my cats to this office. read more

Let me tell you about this clinic... We had recently taken our dog here after she started panting extremely loud and fast and would not move. The dr told us that after scanning her that she had pus and bleeding in her stomach and that they needed to do surgery on her to see if they can drain out the pus and to see where the leak is coming from, and that this was life threatening to her. They gave us a quote for $1800 and charged us over $200 for the visit and some meds. They would not work out a payment plan either with us for the surgery, so we said we needed to think about this and do some research, but we wanted to schedule the surgery for the next day. They sent us home with antibiotics. I called my Aunt right after this and since she is part of a dog rescue group, I knew she would be able to tell me what I should do and she told me to take her to a different clinic just to get a second opinion and referred us to VCA Heritage Animal Hospital to see Dr. Dust. They got us in right away. Dr. Dust was not available so we saw another Dr and she scanned her and.... she had a really bad bladder infection......... WHAT??!?!?!?! This place (Country View) was going to cut open my dog just for a bladder infection?!??!! Well we got a third opinion just to make sure and yep bladder infection. So 1 star doesn't even fit them. Also VCA said "don't ever not bring your dog in just because you don't have money. We will work with you!" Now that (VCA) is a place I trust with my dog. We also got the same thing done here as Country View did and some meds and only spent $100. Can't say enough good things about VCA. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS TO COUNTRY VIEW. I have heard stories after the fact about Country View and I believe they are shady more than ever now! read more

country view is definitely among the best vet clinics i've ever been to. i like all the vets, but robin hadley was my usual. she is young and excited about her profession, she keeps up to date on the latest technology but is also sensible about when to rely on the old-fashioned methods. she is also extremely compassionate. she was my vet for 21/2 years until i moved and i wish she had moved with me and my kitty! honestly my favorite vet ever. as for cost...same as anywhere else. read more

I have to say that I am a huge fan of Dr. Heldt. I brought my dog to her when I suspected he wasn't getting the treatment he needed by another, (fancy, expensive) vet in town. I'm glad I did. She listened so intently to my concerns and was extremely easy to talk to. She was unpretentious, compassionate and sharp. It was easy to tell that she loved my dog right away. She diagnosed his problem accurately within the first visit and treated him appropriately. While I cannot speak to the boarding aspect of the practice, or the other doctors there, I would recommend her to anyone without reservation. read more

I have taken both of my cats there for years and Dr. Hadley (along with the other vets) is patient, kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and always willing to answer my questions. Just today she saw my poor kitty at the last minute, just minutes before closing, because I was in a panic (he turned out to be okay, thank goodness). I brought my 20 year old cat into Country View due to multiple problems. When the vet came in my cat was calm but she had her assistant grab my cat by the back of the neck and try to hold her down. She is 20! Her bones and muscles hurt and we have never grabbed her in that way so obviously she was upset. My cat does not have claws and they were reacting to her as if this old cat was going hurt them. In the middle of the vet trying to figure out how to handle her, she said to her assistant that they need to be careful about rabies. I then stated to her that I have had her for 20 years and she does not go outside and that I can assure you that she does not in fact have rabies. The vet snapped back at me with the response, "if i have to get animal control involved with this situation, I can assure you it will be a big deal." I asked her if it would be okay for me to hold her while she tried to get her heartbeat and such and she said that there is no way she would allow that. After a couple more attempts to "manhandle" my old harmless cat she said that she was uncomfortable with doing the exam without putting her under anesthetics. When she finally let go of my animal, she fell of of the table which is pretty high off of the ground for a cat with bad legs. I immediately shot up to go comfort her and the vet said to leave her alone. By this point I was pretty upset at the whole situation. She then went on to tell me that my cat bit her stethescope and that she probably ruined it which was worth $300!!!! I don't care that her stethescope was ruined, it is part of her job! I was concerned about giving my cat anesthetics at such an old age and I tried to speak with her about that and asked if there were any suggestions that she may have thought might be wrong with the symptoms I had given and she repeated that she could not tell me without the testing which came out to be an estimate of $533. She then left the room and had a person from the front desk come in and tell me that I owe $45 for the exam. Are you kidding me??!!! What exam? The exam you told me you couldn't do? They were not concerned about my animal or myself as the owner and were only out to get more money. I will NEVER bring my animal back to Country View. read more
