Let me start by saying I was having a rough puppy experience. My Australian Shepard was a very high-strung dog. I had to have a lead on her anytime the front door was opened. If I didn't, she would bolt out of the house and it would become humans herding the herding dog. She would almost always trip me when taking her for a walk and there was one time she took off and pulled the lead out of my hand and almost got hit by a car. In the house, she targeted and chased my cats. I was hoping being a puppy, she would adapt as she grew with them.... Boy, I was wrong. I was telling my frustrations with the above to a coworker one afternoon. He told me of Jill at Countryside Kennels and what they did for his 2 Dobermans 10 years ago. He said that he took 2 unruly dogs down to them, left them for 4 weeks, picked them up after a few hours of training the humans. He said that his family got back perfect dogs. I got their number from my coworker and reached out to Countryside. I talked with Erin for more specifics. I wanted to see if they still professionally trained dogs since 10 years ago was a long time. She explained everything to me and what was expected. I was very happy with what they had to offer so decided to go for it. They were already booked out into March 2019 but Erin offered to put me on a cancellation list. A month went by and I got a call asking if I would like to take her to them the beginning of December 2018. I jumped on it! What I got back is a loving dog who has major self-control! I have no problems with her running off... or even going through a door without permission. The best part is at dinner time, I say Mindi go to your bed... she goes and I tell her to stay while we cook dinner and eat. This can take an hour to an hour and a half or so. Mindi stays put and she is a real good and loving puppy that likes to keep us happy. Jill warned me that she may still be nasty to the cats... I am pleased to say that they can co-exist in the same room with my cats! She is much more obedient...... I mean She is now obedient! She was not before. Thanks so much Jill and Erin! We were referred here by my sister who had her lab trained for hunting. We traveled clear from Sacramento, CA because of how awesome they said their results were. They were right. It was worth the drive. Our dog Zeus was 6 months when she entered their hunting and obedience training. She's now 6 years old and still follows commands and is excellent for my husband hunting. We're constantly getting compliments when out in public with her. Erin and Jill love their job and it shows in the results. Our dog was well cared for her entire stay. When my husband picked her up they took time to go through all of the commands with him until he was comfortable. They answered all of his questions. We referred another friend from Sacramento and he took his male lab to them. He was extremely happy with his results as well. Will take any future dogs here! read more

First my parents used this kennel with their dog tobyjoe. He isn't friendly to small animals or other dogs who are in his space so they can not travel with him. When they travel he gets to go to his doggie hotel :) he absolutely loves it! When we pull up he gets very excited and jumps all around ready for his vacation! Now that I am all grown up with dogs of my own, I use their services too. We have 3 dogs who absolutely love going there. Their prices are amazing and the staff really loves the pets they take care of. We have 2 dogs who are inseparable and they discount when two dogs are in one kennel! I highly recommend it. They require shot records so that your pups won't get sick, or get any of the other dogs sick and don't discriminate on breeds! They also have you bring your own dog food so that your dogs can keep to their normal diet. Our puppies home away from home :) thank you CSK staff for all that you do! read more

We had an excellent experience with Erin at Countryside Kennel! We dropped our 10 month old puppy the day after Thanksgiving and just picked him up today. He is a very stubborn dog but even despite that she has managed to train him to a level that we never would have been able to accomplish without her help. She was always responsive via email about his progress and was honest when she said he was struggling with a specific command. When we arrived to pick him up she sat with us in the office to chat about how things had gone and answer any questions we might have. She then took us out into the field on their property and showed us what he had learned and then had us practice until we got it down. She was very patient in her coaching and wasn't afraid to tell us if we were doing something wrong. Afterwards we went back to the office and she asked several times if there were any other questions we had for her. All in all she spent 3 hours with us going over everything! I think the thing that made me most comfortable and encouraged was the love that she showed our puppy. She made it clear to him that when it's time to 'work' then he needs to listen and obey, but she also balanced that with love and affection. We would definitely do this whole experience all over again and highly recommend her! read more

I would NEVER recommend this kennel for your family dog!!! My once happy and trustworthy one year old lab came home with MAJOR aggression problems. My dog was there for the recommended 30 days and was horribly ill when we picked him up. We got him home and my vet diagnosed him as extremely malnourished, suffering from dehydration, clinically tested a fecal sample to properly diagnose two intestinal bugs (giardia and clostridium), various wounds on his elbows, legs, feet, face, and swelling in wounded areas. Keep in mind the trainer said my dog was never around any other dog and never ran, but just walked while being trained. Dog was dropped off at this training facility weighing over 90 lbs and was picked up weighing barely 79 lbs. Dog was emaciated, no muscle tone, chest and sides were sunken in, ribs showing, and in my vets words in "appalling condition". After we got him home and contacted the trainer the next day - she said that he had fallen ill around the 2nd week he was there and instead of calling us, they diagnosed him themselves and practiced their own unlicensed veterinarian skills by dispensing prescription medication for 7 days. Never notified us (the owner) that the dog was ill - even with constant updates and contact with them. Didn't disclose what kind of medication they used (type, strength, or dose) until after my own vet had by then treated him with a different medication. We were scared to death we would lose him! Their contract says they are not liable for dogs contracting intestinal illnesses, but their business license clearly prohibits them from practicing as a veterinarian. Before and after pictures are SHOCKING and I will share them with everyone in social media! This is an e-collar based training. If you do not believe in kicking, hitting, stepping on, punching, etc - DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! Owner of facility will take NO responsibility and said she is not liable for anything. Four months after picking the dog up and we are still dealing with his health and behavior problems. How very sad for my dog! Don't let this happen to your pet! read more
