I had never boarded my German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois before but after talking to Jeff at Waldorf kennel and seeing their facility I took the plunge and have been happy with the care my dogs receive. The dogs each get their own kennel but have multiple play sessions together every day. The staff is attentive to their feeding instructions and I leave plenty of treats and toys with them to keep the dogs entertained. I especially appreciate that play time isn't a doggy daycare style with unfamiliar dogs. Only my two share the yard together. They come home tired and happy. I have also noticed that when they arrive at the kennel for their return stays they happily trot off with the staff after I say goodbye. Always a good sign. read more

This is the 4th place we tried to board out 3-year-old husky without them kicking him out and banning him from the place. He has been an aggressive dog, only to other dogs. When we used to tell this to the other kennel places, they would NOT LISTEN! He is so respectful and listens so our dog can get exercise and a walk without him attacking another dog. Amazing! My dog is not the bravest or friendliest but Jeff had me come in a few times before our Thanksgiving stay to meet with my boy (a Shiba Inu) so that we could all be comfortable. Recently boarded our 10-year-old Weimaraner (Hazel) at Waldorf for several days while we traveled out of town for a wedding. Specifically, wanted Hazel kenneled apart from other dogs, but with enough stimulation to keep her happy and content. Staff communication was excellent; they had me bring Hazel in for a temperament check before boarding; and her stay with them went smoothly. It's the first time I've been able to leave town and feel comfortable with how my dog is getting taken care of. JEFF and I have done multiple one on one sessions with my dog Rena. He listens to your concerns and spends a full hour working on them with you. Also gives you the tools you need to continue the training at home, checks in with you between sessions and he's very attentive to your pet. We have worked on basic to advanced obedience and a current behavioral issue that seemed to come of nowhere with my dog. If there were more than 5 stars available, I would give them all. Jeff and Jenny are incredibly attentive to each dog. Jeff trains the old-school way, with pets and treats - no shock collars! He trained the most sensitive, exhuberant, and sometimes unreasonable :-) 2-year-old pit bull / boxer. She's now happily obedient without a trace of trauma. The open areas of his kennels are wide lush lawns and he has an agility training area. If you have any interest in wrought iron garden decorations he has an enormous selection, from the smallest birds to the largest garden entryway. He's got a several large beautiful bronze roosters and smaller ones too. He's a kind and caring pet trainer and the above mentioned sensitive 2 yr old gets excited and happy when the car pulls in the drive. We cannot say thank you enough to Jeff and the Waldorf Kennels. We have a German Shepherd that is 1.5 yrs old (unaltered) and a Rhodesian Ridgeback who is 6 yrs old (altered). They spent 6 nights being boarded, with extra play time each day, and a 1:1 training session with Jeff for our Shepherd. When we returned from vacation, they were walking better on leash, and you could tell how well taken care of they were. Happy and tired. We had 1 additonal training session all together today as well. Jeff's obedience training, knowledge, and advice was above and beyond, anything we've been given before. Our dogs were so receptive to him, especially the Shepherd. Jeff is calm, confident, and is in control. We're looking forward to continuing the training he's given and immediately saw a huge improvement. Not to mention how beautiful the property is! What a wonderful place to take your loved fur babies!! I had never taken my sweets to a dog boarding before...I was so worried. I was pleasantly surprised with the outstanding care my pups received! My Siberian Husky often stays at Waldorf Kennels for daycare, so I can go to work and not worry. They take the time to play with him, and he WooWoo's his greeting when we arrive. Last year when we were under possible fire evacuation orders, I contacted Jeff and asked if they could board him if we needed to evacuate. Rocky's favorite place!! Our rescued Belgian Malinois has been going to Waldorf since we got him almost two years ago. He started with one on one training, moved to daycare and then to boarding. Rocky had been dumped out by Yakima before his rescue and was exhibiting a great deal of separation anxiety, By his second overnight, he was excited just to arrive. He loves the staff and they love him. We are grateful knowing Rocky is comfortable and happy when we leave him. We left him for two weeks in the Fall and came home to a tired, relaxed and happy dog. Best experience with a reactive silver lab! I had taken my male dog to other training places, spent thousands and still had a poorly behaved, reactive dog. Within just an hr I saw such a huge change in my dog. He no longer pulled on the leash, was less reactive when exposed to aggressive dogs and I feel that with additional training will be a dog I won't have to fear to take in public. This kennel is Just off I-5 and minutes from home! After our return Gina looked gaunt and had lost weight but I don't blame the kennel as I think it was mostly because of stress and a straight diet of dry dogfood and no snacks such as she was used to under our care at home? Our dog lost 8 lbs in 4 days! while boarding at Waldorf Kennels, we left plenty of food and was told he had eaten?... I know part of it could have been due to stress being apart but this was disturbing, needless to say we will not be using this boarding service again. read more

Had Jeff here today to work with our pup Luna. Amazing to me how child like puppies are!! He was so great. Honestly I had read some tips on training so I had an idea of what needed to be done just not sure how and where to start. Jeff was very informative and kind. This facility is absolutely beautiful! I wouldn't hesitate to board my dogs here. I had originally scheduled a grooming appointment when they first planned on opening their grooming service. Unfortunately the groomer they had deserted her job the day of my appointment. The owner apologized profusely and offered to kennel my dogs for free for the day while I attended an event at the fairgrounds. He took his time showing me his kennels, the grounds, as well as explaining how they exercise, play with, and feed the dogs being boarded. Unfortunately I wasn't able to leave my dogs to be kenneled, but I really hope he's able to find a reliable groomer so I can return! read more

I have a German Shepherd who doesn't like to be away from her Mama. I have boarded her here 3 times now and I have found that my dog is happy to go and happy to come home. When we pull into the driveway she doesn't hesitate to get out, nor is she shy with the staff. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. But most of all my dog is a happy camper here. The owner had walked in when we were checking out, and my dog went to him as if they had been friends for a long time. That says a lot. Past boarding facilities she could care a less about the care givers and just was ready to leave.... not seeing that with Waldorf Kennels!!!! Very nice and clean facilities!!! Nice outdoor play area! Friendly, knowledgeable owner and staff! The reason I gave it a 4 star is because of cost. I usually return home on a Sunday and because they take care of your pet like any other day, your charged for Sunday as well, and I have to wait to pick her up on Monday. We used Waldorf kennels in the past, and had a great experience. When we recently went out of town, they cared for our German Shepherds and our Cat. Jeff and his team did an outstanding job with our Shepherds, walking them twice a day and letting them run off some energy in their fully fenced & grassy play area - and they even bathed our dogs! One of our dogs is more"spirited" than the other, and also requires medication - they had no issues taking care of him or administering his meds. Our cat was happy as can be, in her own personal "kitty suite". We will gladly use them again, and highly recommend their facility & services! read more

I've been very happy with this place so far. My dog, a Staffie mix, is pretty difficult. He has major anxiety issues, so he can't be put in normal crates or he'll rip the door off and escape. He also doesn't get along well with other male dogs, so play groups are out of the question. So glad I found this spot! They keep dogs separated AND they have bedroom-like runs for the dogs instead of traditional crates. It's really a miracle that this place exists for a dog like mine. I've only dropped him off a couple times for a long weekend away, but they seem to do a good job. My only tiny critique is that I wish the employees had taken the time to show me around the kennel area and the grounds better on my first visit. It's nice to get the extra attention and assurance that you want when you're leaving your pet somewhere for the first time. I won't knock them on it, but just a suggestion for future first timers. read more

sorry, I had to change my review from 5 starts to 1, due to a bad experience. I do admit that my dog is especially dependent on me, but hes been here before for 7 days and came back happy and looking the same. This time was much different... I called them a few times to ask how he was doing...I was always told hes doing great.????!!!! When I picked him up, he looked TERRIBLE and lost a shocking amount of weight. I still struggle with how he looked to this day. I feel incredibly guilty for what he must have went through that week. He was obviously struggling badly. When I picked him up they told me, yeah he kept making really strange noises the whole time.... Uh... because hes in distress maybe???? WTF!!!! They also tried to convince me that he looked like that when he came in. Excuse me, but i do know how my dog normally looks. He is actually pretty muscular and has a perfect confirmation... serious. When i got him back, he had lost a lot of muscle mass and had bones sticking out...not just a little either! If I knew that he was struggling or in distress about being there, I would have came home and picked him up early. I will never board him here again. This is not about money, offering me a discount on my next visit is not a solution. I've vowed to never board him again anywhere for the rest of his life. This was a hard lesson about people for me. read more

We were traveling to see family from out of town at a big car show, and when we arrived at the show a huge sign said "NO PETS". We were frantic. We had seen the beautiful kennel on the way in, and thought we should give it a shot. The owner was more than accommodating. My wife was terribly upset as she was in charge of this trip. But we were more than well cared for. Our dog was well cared for. I wish we lived closer to her because we would definitely use them again. read more

We recently moved to Vancouver and needed boarding for our two Huskies. I was so pleased with everything about this place! Both of my huskies are rescues, one is blind and is the one I had the most concern about. The staff was so compassionate about my wants for them while we were away, they answered the phone every time I called, and my dogs did wonderfully there. I love how clean the place is and how its set up, a truly beautiful place with passionate and empathetic staff. I used to board my dog(s) at VCA Battle Ground Animal Hospital because it was closer to my house. I became Very dissatisfied and Frustrated with them for several reasons. So I went on the hunt to find another kennel I could trust. I found Waldorf Kennel in Ridgefield Wa. It is twice as far from my house, and worth every mile. The owner and staff are excellent. They know what they are doing. They understand animals. They cared and followed instructions left for my dog. The owner even noticed a skin issue with my dog and gave me advise on how to clear it up. He also helped me out to my truck with all the stuff I had brought with me for my Boxer. I love too that they play music for the dogs during the day and have a nice big area for the dogs to run and play. A most excellent place to board and encounter dog training. Definitely will be my dogs new home away from home. read more

We dropped off our slightly psychotic, powerful Ridgeback mix for 6 blissful days of dog freedom while we went on vacation. I have boarded my dog here many times, and every time we pull in the driveway my dog gets so exited! They have recently put in a bunch of new fully fenced play yards (these are massive areas) where your dog gets to get off leash to run/play. We were up in the area for the NSRA show at the fair grounds. With arrival we found a sign posted of no pets allowed. So what all pet owners tend to do is the frantic search of where to take there loved family pet. We noticed the sign on our way to the fair grounds, with a highway view they appeared to be a wonderful location. We did a quick around me on our Iphone when we found the Petco and this location to be the closest. Being a Saturday and away from home we did not have any of our Dog's paper work ( only had his tag's on him). Petco refused to take our animal for a couple hours as it was a very hot day. We stopped by and found a wonderful friendly lady whom I explained our situation too. She was gracious to make an exception and allow us to keep Tazz there for a couple hours! I would have to say if a "stranger" not from the area gets this kind of service I can only imagine the service you would receive as a regular client. if you need a place to take your pet this is the place in the area. read more
