Hiring countryside is a very expensive risk. In 2020, we hired Countryside to replace our roof at a cost of over $66,000. The workers and our point person were respectful, responsive, and hard-working. We noticed curling shingles almost immediately after the work was completed and notified Countryside. They agreed that something was wrong with the cedar shake, received some replacement shingles from the supplier and corrected some of the work. Unfortunately, as the roofers were doing their job, they said that there were many more defective shingles than they had materials to repair. The sales person for Countryside, who - to their credit - has stayed in regular contact with us, did repair the peak of the roof so we would not get water in over the winter. He has also attempted to work with the supplier, sporadically. I, as the consumer who admittedly knows very little about the construction world, have been put in the position of communicating with roofing suppliers, distributors, and insurance providers for those companies. None of these participants are motivated to move on the issue because Countryside is not doing anything to hold them responsible. I have made countless calls to these companies who were indirectly involved in our roofing project in an effort to fix the issue. However, without the leaned-in support from Countryside to solve this there is no reason for these other companies to work with us to solve the issue. Of all the players involved in our project, Countryside is the only one that does not appear to have contacted their insurance provider and reached out to resolve the issue, even though they have admitted that the roof does not look as it should. For all we know, Countryside is still using the same companies that supplied us with faulty products! At this point, it has been five years of battling without any support of Countryside upper management. My interactions with Countryside's owner during this period has been uninspiring. When I spoke with the owner about the extensive curling shingles immediately after the initial repair work was done, their comment back was that they had done all they could (which - to be clear - was an incomplete repair job) and I should not expect them to replace the whole roof. Since then, the owner has been completely absent from the effort to find a resolution. We are left with a $66K roof (which - with inflation - would now likely cost closer to $80-85K) that looks absolutely terrible, devalues our home, and will certainly be an issue when we decide to sell one day. Due to Countryside's lack of accountability, our only remaining path for resolution is through legal channels. read more

Countryside Roofing Siding & Windows repeatedly promise the best and deliver anything but. We had a new roof, siding and gutters installed and numerous problems exist afterward. Some problems they were hired to fix remain unfixed and new problems now exist in places we didn't have issues with the old roof and gutters. Wrong windows and vents were supplied. Installers were very sloppy with expensive custom finished siding which resulted in many nicks, scrapes and scratches. The owner/salesman became very loud and unprofessional when presented with problems and when some of his many contradictory statements were questioned. Paid 15K in full in August of 2020 even though the job was not finished (metal trims (fascia?) were "ordered" to be replaced when available). A flat roof began to retain water after the rain. Contacted Ryan right away, promised to pull out few guys to fix it but "big installation should be done first". Fall through winter - nobody came to fix. Winter - leak in the garage celling. Contacted Ryan, response: "cannot fix now, wait till temperature in 60F". Now June23, 2021: still not fixed. Contacted Ryan again: "manager is aware about the problem you're experiencing in the winter". Still waiting... Will update the review when fixed. read more

Convinced I had some bad shingles (hey, what do I know!) Bob Sammarco came out for an inspection. He assured me that my roof was in fine shape and I have at least another 8-10 years life on my current roof. He probably could have sold me a whole new roof, but he assured me it has plenty of life left. He and Countryside get a Five star rating for Integrity!!! This company has been working on my house for a while. But the quality has been decreasing at the same time. The last work that they did was on the dormer hasn't been finished yet. He first told my husband that they were having some delay because of coronavirus issues. I has call him many times but he never returned my call. The worse part is that we paid aged. Mike came to my home to inspect the roof. He committed to follow up within a couple days. I attempted to call and text him the next week, but did not hear back. I called the office and explained the situation, and they committed to have Mike call me back that day. Still no response. If they don't want the job that's fine, but the lack of professionalism I experienced does not match the what their reviews suggest. read more

Countryside was recommended by a friend but I have had a bad experience with them. After meeting with them and talking to the insurance, they just disappeared and never called me back. Their office staff could have cared less that my sales person never called back. Don't waste your time with them. Hire someone else. We started talking last September and agreed to move the work to the spring due to the weather. Countryside never called me in the spring to schedule the work. I called them in the spring and then it took awhile to meet again because they said the were very busy. After our last meeting a month ago, they never followed up to schedule the work. I would never ask for fraudulent work to be done. If I asked a question that was not allowed, then it was because I did not know this. Ryan did say he could not do what I asked and I did not push the issue. Countryside should have called me back and declined the work. This is a misunderstanding. I requested a quote from Countryside for roofing repair around the end of August. The estimator came to the house to review the work and was going to check Google Satellite for measurements and get back to me in a couple of days. After not hearing anything for two weeks, I called the company and was told the estimator would call back shortly. That was over a month ago, I'm still waiting. If they told me that the job was too big or too small, the roof was too steep or too shallow. Or even that they just were too busy, I would have accepted that. But I got nothing. If they are this unresponsive for quoting new work, I can just image how they would be if you use them and then have a problem. I went with another company that came out and quoted the job in a couple of days and did the work two days later. Two stars because Countyside has a nice brochure, one star for their poor customer service and lack of follow through. read more

A few months ago, I contacted them because there was some sort of a defect with my heating exhaust where a bird got in. They sent a person out to "fix" it but when I spoke with the guy he had no idea what the original work was for and replaced a few shakes. Another roofer inspected the roof this week because I'm selling my house and told me that they used the wrong shakes. read more

I not only used Countryside for our house but then also used them for my in-laws roof as well. The roofing team was super attentive to my in-laws and their concerns about the install. They were careful and made sure to pick up all of the nails etc, combing the grass and garage area for anything left from the install. The matching that needed to be done was with a great eye to detail and carefully selected. All of the follow up issues were handled with great speed. Called to have small repair of J-channel and siding that were loose.. Countryside original did complete tear off of roof and installed new roof and whole house siding in 2009. George came out to take photos of area that needed repair and said someone would get back to me with a quote. Chad ( project manager) called back and quoted me $600-$800 dollars ( for a 20 minute repair) to send a guy out in 3-4 months to fix, because he would have to "pull someone off a bigger job". Absolutely terrible customer service!!!!...................******** In regards to your comment you just posted....you are telling me that you CHARGE to come out and give an estimate???? And yes you did quote the $800 price. I am no siding expert, but it's isn't an 800$ dollar job in any way shape or form. Especially when you told me yourself Chad that I is just a matter of putting it back together and nailing the j-channel back... what am I suppose to say when obviously you didn't want to be bothered with a small job. What difference does it make if it was done in 2009 or 2019. I wasn't asking for it to be done for free, but I did expect an honest price ..... read more

Do NOT EVER use these people, never. They did my roof, it looks terrible and they will not come out to fix it... it would not of taken them long but they cannot be bothered. I told them right away I wasn't happy and they said wait ... I waited. Still not happy, contacted them in April this is August and still no help. I have to higher someone else to do it now to fix a roof I was overcharged with to begin with... very dissatisfied, very disappointed. I thought I was dealing with honorable people they are not! I contacted this place for a free estimate. The gentleman who arrived seemed professional enough, measuring the windows and providing a rough estimate for a few roof repairs. He took down my email and fax and said that we could anticipate an estimate once he was able to obtain pricing information for the windows. One week goes by. I call the company to inquire and they recommend I call the salesperson/estimate person. I do as they say and leave a voicemail message w/ my contact information. Another week goes by with no follow up. After the 2 week mark, I call the company, explain to them what is going on, and they take my name and number and say they will follow up w/ the salesperson and get back to me. Another 4 days passes with no contact from the company, so I call them again. I explain to them that I had called earlier and was expecting follow up from them regarding the estimate. They yet again take my name and number and say they will call me back "in a few minutes." Another day passes w/ no word from them. I post this review because this is a hopeless cause no longer worth pursuing. Clearly, this company needs to get it together. I can't speak to the quality of this company's work, but if their sales process is any indication of it, I'd steer clear unless you like to feel totally undervalued as a (potential) customer. -------- edited to add -------- Someone apparently flagged my review to get it removed. I called and they said they'd come check our roof. Then WAITED for them to come. After I called, they finally came. Gave me an estimate. then WAITED again for paperwork. They then came out without telling us. I told the repair person I wanted us to be home when it was being repaired. By the way, we STILL didn't have any paperwork to sign. Then they called and said they'd be coming. But, we still had no contract to approve the work. I had to call the company AGAIN. The person answering the phone said he'd e-mail it to us. Finally got the e-mail. Now I'm sure the work is good, but communication between the company and customer is not. Promises to do better. read more

I had my house, detached garage and large shed re-roofed by Countryside. I can't say enough about the quality of their work! It was completed in just one day as promised. The crew was amazing! We contacted this company a few weeks ago to get an estimate on a partial wood shake roof. The owner was great and had his salesman come out the next day (Friday). The salesman Jeff seemed very knowledgeable, left an impressive folder and reference list and advised my husband that he would have an estimate to us by Monday. Since we did not hear from him the following Monday we waited until Weds or Thursday to follow-up. Unfortunately he did not seem to remember our house at all, and advised that it would now be 3 to 4 weeks just to get the estimate. While I can not comment on actual workmanship of their roofing, it was disappointing that he did not follow through with the estimate in the time-frame that he gave and that he could not even remember the job. (At that time my husband advised him we would not go further with them.) read more

THESE GUYS ARE NOT PIRATES! Most home improvement contractors are pirates who want to get your money and get out. That said, there is good and bad about Countryside. FIRST, THE GOOD: (1) Our sales rep: very professional. Really seemed to understand both the roofing products and the roofing process. Once he understood my concerns, he always addressed them in a way that was satisfactory to me. When I questioned his recommendations, he would explain, but did not push anything. He was willing to let me make the decisions, and was, generally, patient with me as I sorted things out. (2) Countryside's proposal: easily, the most thorough of the proposals we received. That was comforting, and it helped me evaluate the other proposals. When I contacted the others, asked them if theirs included this or that, I was surprised, sometimes, not just that theirs did not include something, but that they actually questioned why it should. I KNEW why it should, from my Countryside sales rep AND from my own online research. (3) Pricing: Countryside was just about in the middle of all the proposals we received. The lowest priced proposal was from an outfit that seemed more intent on trying to determine if our roof had been hail damaged, so that the reroof could be paid for by homeowner's insurance. The most expensive proposal was from an outfit that (a) did not provide nearly the detail that Countryside provided; (b) was not willing to engage in a dialogue about choices, simply wondering why their recommendation was not good enough for me; and (c) questioned why I wanted more details. (4) Countryside's roofers: diligent, efficient, and conscientious. THOROUGHLY cleaned up when they were done. (5) When I expressed concern that my wife's perennials would be damaged in the tear-off process, they put plywood lean-tos over them to protect them. (6) Unlike every other contractor I have had do work on my house, Countryside was NOT standing there, with its hand out for final payment, BEFORE the work was done. Over the next week or so (the communication problem - see below) I got our sales rep to understand a number of things that I thought were not finished or were not done the way they should have been. He had his guys come back and finish everything to my satisfaction, before asking to be paid. NOW FOR THE BAD: Biggest problem: Communication. Our sales rep was always rushed and a little disorganized. Not sure if he was rushed because he was a little disorganized or a little disorganized because he was rushed. Whichever it was, he always seemed to be rushing to get somewhere else, and had difficulty keeping details straight. He did not listen very well, maybe because he was rushed. He would often interrupt a question with an answer that did not address the question. It usually took about three, patient attempts before he would finally get the question. Once he understood the questions, his answers were usually very good. To avoid his hearing comprehension problem, I started communicating by e-mail. He did not usually read the e-mails. He would usually call me from the road, say that he saw that he got the e-mail, and ask me what it said. So, we were right back to the hearing comprehension problem. Consequently, it took forever to resolve anything. I ended up modifying his proposal for him (he e-mailed it to me in MSWord format) , because he could never seem to remember what was supposed to be changed or corrected in it. Scheduler? No better. He called, once, left a message giving me a date and asking if that date was OK with us. Then I could not reach him for two days. Finally, I e-mailed our sales rep, asked him to give me the scheduler's e-mail address or have him call me, and I got both. When the work was over, no one came out to check it and make sure everything was completed, and done correctly. Our sales rep called (from the road, again) to ask if his guys did a good job. My response: How would I know? I'm not a roofer! All I could tell was that we had new shingles and it "looked" alright. I told him that, when he had been there, at the very start of the work, he had given specific instructions to his crew, at least 3 times, about how they should do, or not do, certain aspects of the job. Then he was gone. How do I know if they did what they were supposed to do when he was not there supervising them? He said that his guys know what they are doing, and he trusts them. Over the course of the next week, I noticed a handful of things that did not look right, and he sent his guys back out to make them right. (Although, due to the hearing comprehension problem, it usually took a couple of times to make sure they were addressing the right problem.) Still, those were things I caught. Who knows what I missed? Biggest disappointment: If I had not diligently examined the work, no one would have. Again, who knows what I missed? read more

I contacted the company for a roof repair estimate and at first they were very responsive. They sent someone out within a week to give the estimate for the roof repair. However, trying to schedule the repair was nearly impossible. I had to call the company multiple times only to be directed to someone else that, they said, would call me back shortly. No one ever called and, perhaps foolishly, I called back to try again. After about 4 to 5 iterations of this, I was informed that the repair was scheduled. They could not provide a time but said that they would call when they had a better idea of their Saturday schedule. I set aside the Saturday but no one ever showed. No phone call, nothing. Don't waste your time with this company - I can't speak to the quality of their work but I do know that their customer service is terrible. read more

Countryside Roofing signed a contract to do our roof on August 3rd, 2017. We gave a deposit, and they promised to do the work in the contract in 2-3 weeks. After numerous contacts and unbelievable excuses from them, they finally agreed to schedule our contracted work on Oct 24-25. On day one, Oct 24 "the materials truck got the wrong day to deliver plywood and shingles." The crew never showed up on Oct 24. On Oct 25 the foreman and a few crew showed up but no materials arrived. Countryside said the job was bid wrong and wanted more money(thousands more) to do the work. Foreman and crew left and the owner of Countryside Roofing, Patrick Dolan, called 4 hours later to say that he was not going to do our contracted work now or in the future. He said he did not care about our contract. He then said his roofers were afraid to get on our roof. If that was true how can they work as roofers? Excuses and fabrications and our roof is undone. You have been alerted about Countryside Roofing. They strung us along for 3 months, threatened to charge us 50 percent if we cancelled and in the end they breached the written, signed contract we had with them. read more

The worst home improvement experience ever! I am a contractor and have been in the home improvement business for over 40 years. I have owned numerous homes and commercial buildings and have had all sorts of repairs, improvements and services performed on those structures through the years. I have had roofs replaced on homes and commercial buildings. Never, and I mean NEVER, have I experienced such terrible customer service and consideration as I received from Countryside Roofing of Streamwood, Illinois when they recently re-roofed our townhome. Time and space do not allow for a complete postmortem but here are a few highlights. Roofing materials were randomly tossed off the roof with no attention to where they would land. Gardens and plantings were not covered or protected. Countless branches on landscape plantings and trees were broken. Gardens were destroyed by dropping roofing materials on the gardens - seemingly intentionally at times - (I had to replace many plants and re-seed a section of lawn - all at my own expense). We found a pitchfork stuck in the middle of one of our plantings. Tools (shovels, rakes, pitchforks) were thrown into our gardens - not on walkways or patio where they would have done no damage. Lunch debris (including a mircowave) was all over our yard for the entire day - nothing was cleaned up until late that night. Unused materials were stacked overnight right on top of our plantings. I picked up over 50 roofing nails from the driveway, street, patio and yard. I picked up countless pieces of roofing debris from plantings, patio, yard and walkways including whole shingles. I picked up countless water bottles, food wrappers and lunch items. The workers walked through our plantings (breaking some of the branches) rather than walking through the walkway opening. They removed a leaf guards from our gutters and did not put them back up after installing the new roof - they threw them away. When I asked workers if they could cover the gardens and clean up some of the debris on the plantings, I was told to "call the number on the truck!" I called "the number on the truck" and got a recording. I left a message. I did receive a return call the next day saying that someone would come out and take a look but never heard another word. There was absolutely no concern or consideration for the townhome owners or their belonginngs. It was if we did not exist. I have found in my many years owning my contracting business that customer service - good and bad - is a cultural issue in each business that starts with the ownership of the company. When the owners don't care about the customers, neither will their workers - that was painfully obvious with Countryside Roofing. I can't express strongly enough that Countryside Roofing was the worst contractor I have ever had work on one of my properties. I would not hire them to roof a dog house. read more

This company is from Rolling Meadows IL so clearly the reviewer from NM left a comment for the wrong company!! We had zero problems with communication, we were in constant communication with all staff involved! We had our roofing done by Countryside and had a great experience. Pat came and gave us an estimate and thoroughly taught us everything we would need to know to make informed decisions about our house. He gave us quotes for multiple price points so that we could decide what was best for us and our budget. He left us with shingle samples so that we could take our time choosing a color because that's what I struggled with most, I wanted to choose the right one. Pat even suggested a few that would look best with our brick so our house would look nice. The day we had our roof done they were right on time. All the workers were friendly and welcomed us to observe their work. They cleaned up with magnetic rakes... I think my husband only found one nail after they left which to me is amazing. We also had new ventilation and gutters put in and they are just beautiful! Our home looks so much nicer now. Thanks Countryside! read more

I can't thank you enough for a great experience so far. We were hit with storm and wind damage a couple months ago. I contacted Countryside and they sent over a salesman by the name of Keith and let me tell you one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He has a tremendous amount of experience, was extremely knowledgeable and helped me through the overall process which I thought given my experience from a competitor the week before that he was going to try to sell me things I didn't need. Keith quickly impressed me with his knowledge and just overall honesty in what I needed. I haven't had my roof installed yet but I'll be sure to write another review on that when they complete the work but given he will be on site project managing the work I'm very comfortable at this point.
