The Shoppes of Monterra Commons is a new mixed use development owned by Diversified Realty Development Company, which is based in Deerfield Beach. Construction began in December 2021 and it looks like they just need to lease a few retail spaces. This development includes over 100,000 square feet of new buildings over 16 acres of land with 700 parking spaces. The development cost over $10 million to complete. In addition to the stores and restaurants, the Shoppes of Monterra also includes a brand new 175-unit Residential Active Adult Community. Current Monterra Commons tenants include a Brightstar Credit Union, Baseball Cards, Culver's, Huey Magoo's, the Learning Experience, First Watch, Crunch Fitness, Oaxaka, and Cali Coffee. Coming soon is Tide Laundry, Gyromama, and Playa Bowls. There is currently empty leasing space for other businesses. I tried out the Cali Coffee and Blueprint Cookies and loved both. I was surprised to see how busy it was here so it is clearly filling a need in the community. It is interesting to see new development come to what I considered a dead end area of Cooper City. It was only a matter of time before this last large parcel of Broward County was developed. Hopefully Cooper City residents are going to like what they put in.

It's almost impossible to visit without stopping by. The scent of their freshly baked pretzels wafts throughout so it's too hard to resist. Who doesn't love a warm cinnamon sugar pretzel? The layout is very straightforward so you'll be able to find any store you're looking for on the 1st visit. There's more than enough parking space surrounding it & a multi floor garage on one end. If you're thinking this is a hang-out spot where you can spend a few hours, it's probably not. But there's a mall just one block over and other plazas nearby with even more things to do. From the moment I walked in, I didn't know where to begin browsing because everything caught my eye: There were tables full of the most perfect everyday tank tops, bodysuits, skorts and shorts and lots of racks filled with truly unique and beautiful dresses, blazers, pants, jeans and more. I absolutely loved everything. Then, in walked the lovely owner (Deena), who could not have been more friendly and helpful. She introduced herself and immediately started suggesting items that would work well for me. I felt like I was shopping with a girlfriend. I tried everything on and purchased most of what I selected. As I approached the register, I found even more great items on the shelves such as beautiful jewelry and hair clips. I grabbed the cutest claw clip to add to my pile. If I'm not in town, they ship pieces to me wherever I am. The level of service and attention they give their clients is exceptional.
