Zero stars....very uninformed vet when it comes to FIP in cats. Please go to FIPfriendlyvet.com, FIPvetguide.com, or join FIP Global cats on Facebook. They let 2 of our cats die due to misdiagnosis & being ignorant of this disease & treatments available. They got offended when we offered the information to help other cats. If you care about your animals, please go somewhere else more knowledgeable & willing to get updated on available treatment options & avoid the horrible experience we had. We will continue to warn others in memory of Salem & Onyx forever. The treatment works & did save one of our cats from the same litter. Please do your research & don't put your trust in them because they are "professionals". We regret trusting them everyday. read more

This establishment is very overpriced. The staff is very unprofessional. They are also extremely outdated. I would not recommend using this vet if you care about your animals. I have heard from friends and family that they have mistreated their pets so badly they had to switch vets. I switched vets due to them being so outdated and unprofessional. I highly recommend switching to Fremont Animal Hospital the staff is extremely nice, the service is amazing, and if you have an emergency they can fit you in. I would love to give zero stars but can't. They are money grabbers who only tell you what you want to hear without doing proper exams on the animals. My cat almost lost her eye because of their misdiagnosing her in prescribing the wrong medication that prolonged her pain. They manhandled my other kitten instead of asking us what was wrong and they were racist too. If we asked any questions they would talk down to us while when a white grandma ask the same question if front of us they answered politely. Run ! Especially if you get the old white man, he's the worst. His daughter that also works there isn't any better unfortunately. The mishandled all my animals but thank god we got are money up and took are business to Fremont Animal Hospital, they are the best. Go here if you are white and have little to no money because they are cheapest in town and now I know why, it shows in their work. Friendly and efficient staff all around. Dr Julie was very kind and great bedside manner. My pit really liked her. Price was more than fair for the visit and rabies vaccine. I took my kitten in to get spayed. The receptionist was very accommodating in scheduling the surgery date. Very professional and friendly. My kitten did well in surgery and when I went to pick her up I received all the necessary instructions and the staff and vet oohed and ahhed over her. Made me know that they had paid attention to her and cared for her. I have taken other of my animals to this vet and my pets have always recieved excellent care and extra attention. read more

I don't know how this place has so many positive reviews online. Both vets here (the father and daughter) are very rude. The father does not ever show any emotion, he barely even speaks it is very off-putting. I have 7 cats and have taken them here since I moved here years ago. I have had nothing but bad experiences. The vets maybe spend max 5 minutes in the room and don't say a word. The assistants do more than they do and arent nasty. My most recent issue is I had a stray dumped at our business so we took him in for a checkup. I asked they run bloodwork and give him all his shots. They gave him his shots and ran no bloodwork. I had to wait 3 months to get him in for neuter. They ran a FELV/FIV test this morning that they should've ran at his first checkup. He was positive for leukemia. They did not fix him, stated it would complicate surgery but did not explain how. When woke up and saw their message I immediately called. They told me that "responsibility goes both ways, you should've asked for that test" when I stated that is a regular test vets run at first checkups and they didn't. The daughter vet told me I was rude to her in person, I never was. I met her once and the only thing I said to her was to be gentle with my cat because she is old and frail and she was manhandling her roughly. That is not rude to ask you be gentle with an old cat in pain who was clearly in distress. Every person I've spoken to who works in vet medicine has stated that this vet office screwed up majorly. They placed blame on me when they are the Dr and know what tests should be ran on a stray. I am not a vet, you cannot assume I know everything about cats and to know what tests to ask for. It is their responsibility to educate me on what tests should be run at a checkup. Don't go into vet medicine if you don't actually care about animals. These are peoples pets and life. My cats have literally kept me alive for years when I had nothing. I do not take lightly to people treating them badly or suggesting they be put down instead of treated, or not knowing anything about vet medicine regarding cats. It's clear they are not knowledgeable about smaller animals. I definitely do not recommend going here. read more

We are very happy with the care, responsiveness, and professionalism of the Countryside Vet Clinic. If we have concerns with one of our dogs, the person on the phone immediately confers with one of the veterinarians or gets them on the phone to answer our questions and concerns. Listen to the bad reviews, they are there for a reason. Took my Great Pyrenees there due to vomiting and severe diarreha. Diagnosed as worms. Four visits later I kept insisting there was more than worms, which he did not have) they finally took blood, rediagnosed as liver failure and gave him some liver meds. He died a week later. I know that can happen but if he had been properly diagnosed early on the outcome could of been different. We had our dog since he was a puppy and it was hearbreaking to lose him over something that could of been prevented if a little more effort was put into diagnosing the issue. read more

Not a good experience. Usually when you visit the vet office or a doctors office, the receptionist will greet you and say hello, ask for your name and pull your chart which would include a reason for the visit. But no such thing occurred here. The woman behind the counter didn't say hello or introduce herself, she asked why I was there in the office. I tried to give my name and reason for the visit but she was rude and argumentative (I assumed she had already pulled my chart because I was sitting in the parking lot for 15 minutes waiting for them to let me in). The appointment was to shave mats from my cat's fur. She said she would take my cat to the exam room to shave the mats and I asked her if she'd ever done this work before. She finally said she was the "vet." I thought she was the office receptionist. She never did give her name. She took my cat to the exam room and I went to the receptionist desk to pay where I asked the woman who was taking my information if the "vet" was always this rude. The woman behind the desk promptly went to the exam room where she told the vet she should stop the appointment because I said the vet was rude to me. The vet stopped and handed me my cat with chunks of fur hanging from his stomach. THIS WAS COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE. The needs of the animal should come first. My cat was extremely stressed, in pain and uncomfortable with mats hanging from his belly. No matter what I thought of her or her staff she should not have reacted in a way that was harmful to my cat. read more

I had taken my Yorkie to Countryside since he was a puppy. When he was 3-4 yrs of age, he started having bouts of diarrhea and vomiting. Several times over the next year/year and a half, female Dr. Mathews told me he had a "sensitive stomach". She prescribed a MODERATE Fat EN Rx dog food. The intervals became more frequent. The last visit, I asked her if there was something she could do. She asked me what did I want her to do. I said, blood work, something. When I left her office, I decided to get a second opinion. The second opinion vet encouraged me to take my Yorkie to MedVets, Columbus, because it was an emergency situation. My Jake, had a blockage between his small and large intestine and had to have a intestinal resection. A biopsy showed our guy had Intestinal Lymphangiectasia, an intestinal disease. It's not curable, but some dogs respond to treatment and the disease can go into remission. Yorkies are prone to this disease. One of the killers of dogs with this disease is FAT. In our Yorkie's case, Dr. Mathews was incompetent, uncaring, and contributed to our guys illness. Needless to say, we never returned to her. I did write her and told her what I thought of her and if she ever had another dog come in with the same symptons, she should do something besides telling the owner it has a "sensitive stomach." I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy. read more

I brought my Bengal cat to Countryside bc he had been vomiting and he was very lethargic. I went against my better judgement and seen the old man, and I say against my better judgement bc we had seen him before and his bedside manner is zero. He is completely impersonal and I got the impression he didn't even want us there. I always tried to get in with the female Matthews, she is always kind and courteous to us. The man told me that he didn't feel anything after he examined him and gave me some anti nausea meds and gave him some IV fluids, which was the longest five mins of my life! He told me that if my cat didn't get better within the next 3 days to call him and he would see him right away. I knew I should not have left without Matthews doing an X-ray but I was so relieved to hear that he didn't think it was anything serious that I wasn't thinking straight. I kind of felt like if I would've brought my husband that maybe Matthews would've done more. Not sure if it was because I'm a woman that he didn't take me seriously or what. We went to Countryside on a Wednesday and by Thursday my cat wasn't any better. We ended up rushing him to Fremont Animal Hospital and he was admitted for surgery immediately for a bowel obstruction! His stomach was three times the size it should've been and he was so severely dehydrated. He made it through surgery but eventually died from pneumonia. We didn't pursue anything towards Countryside, although we should have, but nothing we would've done could've brought him back. I'm writing this to warn you that if you choose to go to Countryside that you stick with the woman! She always told me how beautiful my boy was and he WAS a very handsome cat! We're heartbroken still to this day and will NEVER EVER bring any of our animals there again! read more

I've had nothing but great service over the last few years since we moved to the area. Can get same day appts and even when busy they're still on time. Have had appts with both doctors and have found them to be professional, caring and knowledgeable. Recently had to unfortunately put our 12 yr old St Bernard down and found all of the staff extremely compassionate. Even received and condolences card with a hand written caring message for our family. First time I've ever had that from my past vets. I would strongly refer anyone to take your animals here. read more

Took my boys there for their wellness appointment and a follow up as they had just been neutered. Told them I believe my one dog is having anxiety issues. Sure enough during the appointment both his eye became blood shot, he was panting super hard, and was just showing tons of signs of being stressed out. The vet tried to tell me they were fine as soon as he gave them their shots and said if there was nothing else we were good to go. I asked about the anxiety and how he thought that behavior my dog was showing was normal. Got very rude with me and talked about how if we did medication it would have to be daily and not just when I wanted to give it to him I said I knew that but the health of my dog is what was important to me and this level of stress was not good. I also informed him that another vet who had not seen him before he just did the neuter and his groomer both noted the anxiety and stress not being good for him and had mentioned I get him seen. Once he heard that others had noticed the problem he then rudely said we could discuss medication. I told him he was no longer seeing my dogs and got their vet records printer out. The lack of concern for my dogs health was appalling. If you are not going to care for an animals health and well being then maybe you should not be treating them. read more
