What a hidden gem! I had no idea County Club was so close to me, but I'm so glad I discovered it. The vibes are fantastic, with cozy seating both inside and outside. Our server was exceptional--very informative about the menu, attentive, and offered great drink recommendations that really enhanced our experience. I ordered the smash burger with a side of fries, seasoned with Oaxacan spices, and let me tell you, those fries were the highlight! The seasoning was a perfect blend of sweet and spicy. We also tried the pork pita, which I highly recommend--it was absolutely delicious! To top it off, we enjoyed some post-dinner cocktails that were equally wonderful. I can't wait to return and explore more of the menu!

Was able to check out their brunch menu on a Sunday. It's the only day they're open during this time. I really like the venue and the outdoor space. The menu is small but lots of different items. The staff was very pleasant. The bathrooms were very clean. I wish they had had some diet soft drink options. And my companion asked me to put in my review the recommendation that hooks be added to the high top tables for purses. My companion ordered brunch, I ordered the smoked wings with the garlic sauce,. Both were great. I also recommend the pimento cheese appetizer.

I love the ambiance here! The menu is pretty limited and they have bratwurst on Wednesday only and I wish it was on the menu everyday. Very hip place!

This is a great place to go for a casual dinner. They have both interior and exterior options available. The staff here are very efficient and helpful. We ordered a couple of things to share and were pleased with the outcome. The dry smoked chicken wings were perfect! The quesarito was quite filling, and the margaritas were refreshing.

Great casual spot for a group! We were in town for the day and went here because we needed somewhere dog friendly for our pup, and there's not many places in Lexington. The outdoor area is massive and great for large groups - we were seated on a gravel/pebble area and our dog got extremely dusty, but she seemed to enjoy the environment. We went right at opening and were immediately seated -- this probably wouldn't have been the case if we arrived ~30 minutes after... it got packed! The service was prompt even with the crowd and our large party -- we weren't rushed but didn't have to wait long at all for anything. The food was good, pretty much what you'd expect for the prices. Very reasonable! Great shareables and drink offerings. Overall, a good spot to check out! I'm glad we went (and it was perfect for our dog).

How is the world have I forgotten to write a review for this place?! It's a great spot with some of the best smoked meats in town, which... that's saying a lot when you compare to some of our other options like Blue Door! Pros: great food, amazing specials (if there's a special drink or sandwich, I strongly recommend you get it). Also, it's really close to West Sixth and Jefferson St Coffee! Cons: small indoor space, so there can be a wait.

Been a fan of this place for years, but dining here in the time of COVID has been truly impressive. All take out or patio dining, which is well spaced and well lit. The food is killing it as always, today we had the pastrami sandwich, the brisket sandwich, and the breeder's cup poutine. All were phenomenal, the pastrami is the best I have had in lexington, and the poutine was heavenly, with a spicy maple syrup gravy, perfectly seared Canadian bacon, and just the right amount of melt on the curds. Their take out packaging is on point. The poutine came with separate pour-over gravy and syrup so the crispy fries didnt arrive soggy. They also are using all compostable take out materials, including packaging, forks/knives, and bag. Overall very impressed, but not surprised that this place is doing things right. Safe dining/takeout that is both delicious and done with environmental conscience.

Don't know how I haven't stepped in sooner! Food: Delicious, you are able to see your meal being prepared by the chef and staff. I ordered the brisket sandwich, and my friend ordered the pork sandwich! We shared sweet potatoes as our side. The potatoes were perfectly tendered and glazed, they were placed on a miso and turnip(?) puree that was salty by itself but paired well with the glaze. The housemade pickles were amazing, the brisket was tender and juicy. Great smoke and bark. I had a bite of the pork and that was to die for. Pricing: Very reasonable prices for the food and quality they offer. For our meal, excluding drinks, came out to be shy of $30. Parking: Unsure if they have a private lot, I just parked across the street from the park. Space: Cute cozy space, the restaurant is very small!! They have outdoor seating as well. I came for dinner around 6:30? There wasn't a line but the restaurant was definitely at capacity so we clsat at the bar. Cocktails: they have a bar, and a cocktail selection but I wasn't in the drinking mood that night. 5/5, will come again! Thanks County Club

farro squash salad - special of the day

After hearing great things about County Club, a friend and I decided to check it out after a Saturday yoga session at West 6th last weekend. A "blink-and-you-miss-it" place; the building itself is very nondescript on the outside, and the sign outside isn't very prominent. We walked in , and weren't sure at first whether to seat ourselves or not, but a waitress saw us and directed us to an open table. She brought us a big glass water bottle with two cups which was nice; however the water was room temperature which I thought was odd. I thought maybe they ran out of room to refrigerate the bottles, but I talked to a friend about it who had the same experience. I ordered the seasonal salad which was roasted squash with farrow, some red onion, scallions, feta, some "almond crunch" with a vinaigrette dressing, and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. it was a big portion too, so you could definitely split with a friend and get soup on the side. The atmosphere inside has kind of an old farmhouse feel to it- which seeing as they source meat locally seems fitting. I definitely will be back to County Club and maybe bring my own ice cubes for the water.

We really struck gold finding this gem of a spot!! The atmosphere is perfect! Soft lighting, not a lot of tables, not at all crowded, beautiful decor, we were very impressed from the moment we stepped in the door! Our waiter stopped by our table pretty quickly and did such a great job for our whole dining experience! He was very helpful when we asked for recommendations, and was perfectly attentive throughout our time! Several super friendly people stopped by our table over the course of our evening, the service was remarkable! Obstinate Sons keeps a small menu - I love this!! Not only does it make it easier to choose what to order, it also typically means a place does the things they offer, VERY well! This idea fit accurately with this restaurant! Every single thing we had was top notch and done so very well! We left so impressed! We started cocktails! The bar tender was excellent and had our drinks out quickly! We both ordered various Old Fashioned's, when in Rome, right?! Since we were in town for some local distillery tours, it only felt right to sample some of the local flavors - and they have a LOT of choices! Extensive bourbon list! Everything we had was superb! Next we went in for an appetizer, the deviled eggs! They rotate how they make them, variating flavors and ingredients! I can't remember exactly what flavors they had the night we were in, but they were delicious! Bacon and horseradish were for sure elements! Loved these!! I am a sucker for a good salad so when I saw that they offered a wedge salad with their "own memorable bleu cheese" I knew I had to try one! It was extremely memorable as I'm still thinking about it weeks later! ;) The roasted heirloom tomatoes were exceptional, tiny little guys packed with SO much flavor! I could have used a few more of those, they complimented the salad so perfectly! The toasted onions were also superior! This was a really great salad!! Next up entrees with beers! :) We tried a couple of beers we had never had before, the Bearded Iris Homestyle and the Country Boy Cougar Bait - both amazing and refreshing!! We ordered the Prime Pork Chop which came with the most delectable risotto, wow! So good! We also ordered the Sole Piccata which was quite possibly the best fish entree I've ever tasted! The sauce was perfection and the fish was perfectly prepared with the best panko parmesan crust, HIGHLY recommend!! We also tried a side of the Smashed Roasted Garlic Herb Red Skins Potatoes, very good! The sides serve 3 so they go a long way! We had too much to finish!! ;) Lest you think I'm finished here, I haven't even gotten to the best part! DESSERT!!! We don't often order dessert out - we don't usually save room and it's just not usually our thing. Because we were celebrating our anniversary, I guess we felt extra on this particular evening because we decided to try some dessert. After some great explanation and recommendations by our server we landed on the bread pudding. This dish also varies regularly with the chef's discretion. They have different flavor profiles that rotate, if I understood correctly. On this particular evening the waiter explained the bread pudding feature: I wish I could remember the way he described it, word for word. I'm struggling to remember the details but I believe it was a chocolate bread pudding with a caramel bourbon sauce. Maybe something to do with Kahlua sauce. You'll have to forgive my memory, I just don't know all that he said - however, what I DO know and am QUITE certain of, this was very literally THE BEST dessert I have EVER tasted in my life! EXTREME delight! I literally told my husband I felt like my life was complete after finishing this dessert, it was THAT incredible! My advice on this restaurant - Do not skip a bourbon based cocktail and DO NOT SKIP DESSERT! ;) The entire meal was an honest absolute pleasure, but those two things stand out for me about our meal! If there were a yelp rating higher than 5 stars, The Obstinate Sons would deserve it - EXCEPTIONAL PLACE!!! Make this your next choice!

For two people, ok.. for 4 it's a toss up... anymore than 4 there is no way. The second attempt was a weekday and my husband and I decided to try again and we got right in. Pros: - Good service - Good bar (which included port wine on the dessert menu) - Good food - we had the bread pudding for dessert and it was great! It is good food, I got the shells and it was good, but nothing I would go out of my way to have again. Cons: - Somewhat of a small menu (both food and cocktail); I think (for me) expanding the cocktail menu would be a very feasible upgrade for this place. - It's toss up on prime time weekends how long you'll have to wait for a table since its a pretty small place

This is a Comfort Food Place with friendly people and large portions of really good food at great prices. Cheap drinks. Horse Racing on the TVs, as well as other sports and such. My wife and I went last month on a whim as we were in the area (it's a bit of a drive for us) and ran into 4 people we knew on a Thursday night. It's a small dive of a place, so that was 10% of the crowd. I've been several times for lunch but this was my first dinner. They have a standard menu with a good bit of variety and a lot of great desserts. But, they also have daily specials. For my lunch visits, there are usually 5-8 options and when they're gone, that's it. For dinner... I swear there were 25 options handwritten on the damn chalkboard. It was insane. What do I get!? I got the frog legs. My wife got the standard menu cheeseburger. Both as delicious as the fish platter, the open faced roast beef, and every other thing I've gotten here. Home Cooking my friend, and I mean food you want to eat. This ain't no health club, this ain't no disco, this ain't no foolin' around. It isn't fancy, it isn't pretty, it's old. And, I'd go there 3 nights a week if it was within a 10-minute drive.
