My wife and I had a late lunch here last Wednesday, 4/29/26. The owner CJ greeted us and Wayne was our excellent waiter. He was informative and enthusiastic about the options, including the shrimp and grits that I ordered off of the dinner menu. They were incredible, the real deal! The shrimp was fresh and wonderfully seasoned! My wife ordered the Cuban with fries and she loved it. The seasoned fries were surprisingly great! We each boxed about half of our dishes to go, but then Wayne offered desserts. My wife ordered the bourbon cake but when Wayne started describing the chocolate cake, I had to get it. We took both to go and ate everything when we got home. I'm a chocolate addict and simply put, the chocolate cake was the absolute best I have ever had! It was a thing of beauty, dark and rich and topped with a white chocolate design! Each type of chocolate, one after the other, offered a distinct and delicious flavor. It was an experience! It is truly surprising to find such a high end restaurant with great service when we were just looking for a new local place to eat lunch. We loved it! read more

We absolutely loved Soul on Main. Situated downtown in Nicholasville with easy parking right across the street, its location is beyond convenient. Walking in to a quaint but beautiful restaurant, we were greeted by the most wonderful hostesses. Our server was incredible. Not only did she take orders quick, was so polite, made great recommendations, but she realized we had a toddler and made sure to put my sharp pork chop knife on the other side of the table. I know this may seem silly but to me, it showed a sign of being observant, smart, and truly helpful. We started with the fried oysters. This was a special. And dang were they good. Topped with a yummy relish. We got the pork chop, filet Oscar (another special) and the catfish po boy. For sides we tried the mac n cheese and the squash. The pork chop was delectable. By far the best cooked pork chop I've ever had. The filet Oscar was a perfectly cooked filet mignon with jumbo lump crab that was sweet and juicy. The catfish po boy was absolute fireeeee. And that remoulade can't be beat. But dang the Mac n cheese was my winner. It was a smoked Mac n cheese that I could've eaten for days. Squash was excellent as well. Both our drinks were delicious and we have enough food for an entire dinner tomorrow night. We definitely will be back!!! read more

Such a great experience! Went today with some family, and had an amazing experience! Had great music, nice seating, and a really nice bar! *Please don't let the prices scare you away! HUGE portions. AMAZING food!!!!* I got the steak & Mac n cheese. Steak was cooked to perfection, so juicy, and had amazing flavor. Mac n cheese was so unique! Such a great blend of flavors together. 100% will get the same thing when I go back and will recommend this! My fiancé got the porkchop & grits. I don't like porkchop, but it was SO thick, juicy, and had an amazing glaze sauce! The grits were delicious as well. He also said the porkchop will be his returning order! Other family members had the pork tacos. 2 nice size pork tacos & THE BEST FRIES my family & I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Also HAD to try the Nutella Mousse Pie! So rich, and kind of tasted like cheesecake. Very delicious! Had to take a portion of everything we had home because no one could finish their plate! I would recommend this place to ANYONE who wants a fine dining experience for a pretty understanding, decent buck! Wayne was our server, and he was EXCELLENT! Absolutely spectacular food and service at Soul On Main ! I'm usually someone who is underwhelmed at going out to dinner as my chef hubby can usually make things better. No disappointment here! We had an amazing, juicy, thick cut pork chop that hardly needed cutting it was so tender, fried chicken that was also extremely juicy and flavorful. The fried green tomatoes were thickly cut, breaded to perfection and topped with a delicious bacon jam and some of the best Brussels sprouts I've ever had. Homemade carrot cake and bourbon butter cake topped it all off ; we won't need to eat for a week! Chef owned by a husband and wife team with a lovely staff ...a must visit in Nicholasville and the place to go if you want great food. read more

The food was really good and tasted high quality! This was probably the best pork chop I've ever had with a delicious glaze. It paired well with the grits! The cheesecake was a good end to the meal. The service was good and quick with our 5:30 reservation before the dinner crowd showed up! There's street parking which was easy to find a spot close by. read more

Soul on Main is amazing. Last night was our second stop, and it was terrific, just like our first. We have now tried the pork chop and ribeye as entrees. I am careful with superlatives, but both were among the best I have had anywhere. Our friends also had the pork chop last night, and they declared it their best ever. The bartenders whip up some mean cocktails, including our favorite, the spicy margarita. Maybe the best part of the experience, however, is the staff. They are so attentive and fun to be around. You really should try this beautiful location. The pork chop in the photo is a half portion as my wife and I split. The full entree is huge! The food is good but the portions are small and the prices are high. My wife said the shrimp and grits were the best she's had anywhere. The Caeser Salad was lettuce cut in too-big-to-eat pieces with so little parmesan cheese that you couldnt see it and not enough salad dressing. The grit cake and pork appetizer was quite tasty and a good portion. I've had catfish po boys in New Orleans and unfortunately the Soul on Main catfish po boy isnt a patch on real southern cooking. The sandwich had three small pieces of fish on it and not even very much lettuce. It was all bread and not worth the $17.00. The two Old Fashioneds cost total $29.40 which would be big city prices but Nicholasville is a small city and the pours were small. I can get a better drink at Ramsey's for $7.00. I'm glad we checked the place out but we wont eat there again because it's such a poor value in spite of the food tasting good. read more
