After 14 years, I lost my beautiful dog, Macy. She was 14 1/2 years old, she was my big baby, snuggle bug and definitely a blanket hog! The staff at Countyline Animal Hospital could not have been any more helpful and everyone was so empathetic to what I was going through. I was able to get a same-day appointment, and I'm very thankful that they took me right away. I stayed with my baby girl from the second we walked into the office until she was across the rainbow bridge. I couldn't ask for better people to help me through this heartbreaking situation. Called Spring Hill on Anderson Snow the next morning and was told to bring him right in. We were not Clients. Summary...he was dead 4bdays later. He had pancreatitis and kidney failure. $4000 to try and save him I was never told there was an ER on Forest Oaks. He had been with County Line since he was 3 months old. Our family just moved to Florida. We brought our cat in for a routine yearly exam & vaccinations. A family member referred us. Luckily the staff are compassionate & listen to any concerns. The exam and vaccinations were quick and our cat didn't even flinch. Unfortunately, the building is not laid out properly to provide for a Fear Free Certification. The lobby is tight. If your cat is stressed by dogs, I would recommend staying with them in the car, with the air on, until it's your turn. The exam rooms are tighter. Holding the cat carrier, I had to squeeze around the exam table to get to the chair to be out of the doctor's way. Next time I know to put the carrier on the exam table first. The building layout is the only reason for a less than stellar review. read more

I have three dogs that I trust County Line Animal Hospital with completely. They show great care for the animals and their owners. I took my 11 year old dog in yesterday afternoon thinking I was going to be putting her down but no! The vet asked me if I'd be willing to try a pain pill and see if that didn't improve her a bit and holy cow she's like a whole new dog in one day. She hadn't been out in the yard for months now and I had to feed her in her bed. This morning I woke to find my baby standing at the door waiting to be let out and she ate standing up. She got a whole new lease on life and I can't recommend this place any higher than I do. They treated my new Bassett puppy last week and they were so loving to her. They're the best! Asked for a refund and they told us once the blood is sent to the lab no refund.Cat got worse and went to another Veterinarian all test where performed in office with results in 20 minutes. Not good is put mildly. We are forced to get the media, all venues,BBB, though they are not accredited, credit card company, & more involved in thisl. We had been clients of County Line Animal Hospital for almost 20 years, with all the pomeranians we have had,because we loved the previous owner.vet. The last 2 years, after he retired,this operation has taken a nose dive from bad to worse, in fact we are notifying some legal and consumer affairs agents. They do not even have a vet, have travel ones, one day at a time. If you want to get in a clinic fast, go there, as you will get right in, as they have lost almost all their client base. On April 29, 2024, we took our little pom in for a severe ear infection. We were told they could not get in her ears, as the ear canals were totally swollen shut. There for half hour and $261 for checkup and 2 medications. Gave the medications as instructed, with food, and at 3am, the dog started yelping, running back and fourth, and had severe diarea and vomiting. I had never seen anything like it, fearful she would have a seizure or worse, which she never has had anything close, went to ER, with a follow up at another vet next day as instructed. Both ER and new vet said it was the medications that caused her to go toxic, and low and behold, they did get in her ears, that the travel vet told us would be impossible, they cleaned out much gunk in ears, and gave medication in her ear, as well as diareah meds and antiobiotic. The antiobiotic we were given from County line, is $28, they charged 68 and both ER and vet said she should have never been given that medication, and the other one, an ASAD, she should have had a steriod, not something that makes the dog so sick, and it's description states that but both were NOT for a dog for severe ear infection. I spoke with their so called manager, not of course asking for the expenses of medical bills, BUT a refund for what we paid them. Yes, we paid for a service of which was a death sentence to the dog had we not gotten proper treatment. I understand they can not afford to refund, and need every penny they can rob clients of, but this is unacceptable. Probably not a lot of reviews because no one who knows about this dangerous operation, goes there. Only newbies. Unless you are going there to have pet euthunized, STAY AWAY read more

I really wanted to like these guys and they were always helpful and kind when we went there, but they failed us terribly this last time. Our 8 year old adult pug had blood in his vomit and stool, so we took him in. No tests were performed whatsoever, only a basic exam by the vet & a prescription for antibiotics. After a couple of days, (Hurricane Ian closure) a stool sample was brought in at their request, to determine if there were parasites. They claim to have sent the stool sample off for analysis, telling us it would be a more thorough test than testing it in house. It was at a higher cost as to be expected. We were told to expect a call with the results in no more than 2 days. At day 3 no call came, so I called them to follow up. I was put on hold for a several moments then told the sample was normal and there were no issues. I was not offered an opportunity to see the lab test results and I didn't think to ask for them. Things slip through the cracks once in a while, but you should be able to trust your veterinary provider. I suspect they overlooked actually sending it in for analysis and I will explain why. Another prescription was also written and filled to soothe his stomach. Several days of the prescriptions did not alleviate the bloody stools and vomit. On Sunday his abdomen was very distended and we took him to Hernando county emergency care. Several tests were performed. Full blood test, stool analysis, x-ray and ultrasound. The stool sample revealed Giardia, which is a parasite from drinking standing water, which could have occurred without our knowledge. This makes it very suspect that they DID NOT SEND the sample to another lab for testing. The ultrasound also revealed a massive 20 cm tumor on his liver and extensive damage to the liver. The tumor was no fault of their shortcomings, but it may have been found sooner with tests, if they had performed or at least suggested them. At the emergency vet he was seen by 2 different vets and the prognosis was very dim. Euthanasia would be the next step. He was still in decent spirit and comfortable for 3 days, so we held off as long as we could, to care for him and love on him. It is a very difficult decision to make. We decided that we would use CLAH one last time for the euthanasia because it was next to Foster Pet Cremation Services. We thought also, how could they foul this up? They said to call ahead when we were ready and they would figure a way to work him into the schedule with as little delay as possible. Our boy's condition declined significantly over night and I made the call to them today. I called 6 times over 30 minutes. Every call went to voice mail. I left a very frustrated message asking for an immediate call back. No call back occurred. We had to find another vet on very short notice, so one can imagine how stressful the entire ordeal was at this point. Now 7 to 8 hours after sending our precious boy over the rainbow bridge and their office being closed I still haven't gotten a call back. I am done with CLAH and I strongly suggest anyone considering them for the care of their precious fur babies, find another vet. Being inept & unprofessional is one thing, but being dishonest and lying to a client is totally and completely unacceptable and unforgivable. read more

I took my sick old cat to be euthanized and upon opening his carrier he hissed at the tech. At that point they acted like he was rabid and put a noose around his neck which made the poor cat crazy. I picked him up and put him back in the carrier and left. The vet and the tech were totally inept and had no idea what to do. Surely this isn't the first cat that hissed at them. He didn't scratch or bite or lunge, just hissed. It was a horrible experience for me and my poor cat writhing on the floor with a noose choking him. Dr. McMahon was NOT the vet on duty that day, and I feel things would have gone differently had he been there. The ending: I took him to Animal Emergency on Forest Oaks where he was loving examined and handled by the tech and vet without any incident and was peacefully euthanized. read more

I have been taking my three dogs here for the past year. Every time I go in the staff are very friendly and the doctors take the time with my babies and are patient with me since I always have a million questions. Today I took my miniature Dachshund in, 4 years old, for his first teeth cleaning. Lauren was the technician helping me in the room get him all set for his surgery, she made me feel comfortable by answering all of my questions and was gentle with him. There was a miscommunication about pricing and she immediately apologized and said that she would see how she could make this right. I left Diesel there in excellent hands and picked him up a few hours later with pearly white teeth! Lauren also was able to accommodate me with the miscommunication. She handed Diesel back to me and walked me to my car answering all of my post op questions. She is excellent with animal care and I will be coming back in the future since I know that my babies are in great hands!! read more

We have had our 2 dogs going here for years. We had to put our beloved dog Koco to sleep after having her for 14 years and everyone took such special care of us and our dog from the moment we checked in to the time we walked out of the front door and then two weeks later when we got such a beautiful card from them. Neither of our parents got as good or better treatment as our dog did when we had to take her in. I know I thank God for them for it was so hard to take my best friend away forever like that. After receiving a phone call back I was advised by the office manager Melissa I would not be allowed to bring my sick dog there because I was previously employed there and that would be a conflict of interest i explained i was not even the one brining the dog. so another words any animal associate with me health would not come first, sad. I am very disgruntled with this animal hospital. I scheduled my female to be spade and my male the next day. When I picked up my female i explained to them the male coming in the next day could be aggressive. The technician said we will muzzle him I explained that might agitate him more and I would prefer not to. I left thinking I would be dropping him off at 8:15 the next morning, then get a phone call no to bring him in at 11:00 a.m. then the day of the surgery they call and wanted me to bring him in at 12:00 p.m. so I could hold him while they sedated him. i get there and taken to a room sign all the papers and the technician says we need to put a muzzle on him its protocol. I explained it could agitate him more to please let me speak to the doctor. I waited and instead of the doctor coming in the Office Manger and the technician come back and with an attitude the officer manager explains it is protocol (why wasn't I told this the day prior?) I told them both I was getting pissed at this point. I put the muzzle on him and told her to stop with an attitude. I also pointed out the sign on the wall saying customers are not to handle their animals so no one gets hurt. Which I handled all 7 of my dogs when they received vaccinations and rabies shots. She didn't like that and said they were not doing the surgery. I told her we were there and I wasn't leaving. I went to the front desk and she finally came back out and I asked her if her and I could speak calmly and she said yes but wouldn't let me speak. She was saying I didn't but the muzzle on tight. (I'am not a vet tech so how do I know how tight it has to be) Which I had tightened and did exactly what they asked. Again I pointed out about the sign and she said leave they weren't doing the surgery. I asked to speak to the doctor but all of a sudden he was in surgery when prior he was coming in to do the sedation shot. This place does not have any customer service skills and the office manager is very rude with no compassion!!! If this is how they treat the owner of the animal makes me wonder how they treat my pet in the back. I will not be going back to this place....... We took our Siberian Husky in for her teeth to be cleaned, they called me and I missed answering it in time. So I called back and was immediately put on hold, when she finally answered the phone and I told her that I was returning Dr Smith's phone call about Lacy! I was then put on hold again, and finally another girl answered the phone and said that Lacey had a growth on the roof of her mouth, but since we had not answered the phone it was to late ro remove it! But they had taken a biopsy of it. Said they would tell me more when I picked her up! We went to pick her up and they took us into a waiting room. We sat there for a long time, and finally Dr Smith and his assistant came in! He proceeded to tell us that the growth was cancer and Lacey had only 6 months to live! I asked if he had gotten the results of the biopsy, he said no that would take a week ( But yet he just told us that Lacey had cancer) & 7 days passed and he called and said that it was not cancer, said he learned something new! He is a part time Vet that put me and my wife thru hell for 7DAYS, thinking that we were going to lose our Lacey within 6 months!!!!! A fancier clinic wanted to charge me over $500 to disempact my cat, Dr MacMahon charged only $100, thank goodness because Willie needed this multiple times. He and his staff also saved my tiny 2lb Chihuahuas' life. I recently moved to Wisconsin and miss the Doc and his staff terribly. Since moving to Spring Hill 5 yrs ago Dr McMahon has treated our Jack Russell and our rescue dog since we've had her 2 yrs now. We loved the care and compassion the veterinarians their. Today we had our Jack Russell's teeth cleaned upon pickup I asked the office manager for an explanation of charges. In the past at other clinics I've paid between $150 - $200 out the door for cleanings. Today's bill was $468 and needed some explaining, She for some reason needed to tell me the previous manager was undercharging for this service to the point that the clinic was going broke? Really not my concern, I asked about the 1st charge an office visit $49? She said I was out dated on office visits and hadn't had one in the past year? I was unaware of a mandatory yearly office visit charge! Next she told me the sedation that they use is the same they use on humans and it is on backorder??? Yet the charge was $55 Still don't understand that one! Other charges were $30 post-op pain control, $12 waste disposal and $22 rabies shot. I asked her to please explain the $300 dental scaling and polishing, She informed me it covers the cleaning and any extraction needed???? Our dogs teeth were fine, healthy and only needed cleaned! I told her I was fine with paying for any services that needed to be done but how can you charge for something that you might have to do???!! She was unwilling to discuss any further and said that's what we charge! Well Dr. McMahan one manager tried to undercharge you out of business and this one will over charge you out. I don't mind waiting if there is a reason, but no one said anything to me as to why I was waiting. Among the many small issues with the office management the two largest were the first one when my mother had an emergency with her pet he did his best to turn her down and only my persistence encouraged him to let her come there. I can't understand how anyone can turn someone down for an emergency but he certainly tried. The last one it's much worse. I had personally called to set up an appointment. To put my animal down. I asked to speak to the office manager the receptionist told me he was not available and then proceeded to make the appointment with her for 4:30 p.m. that day to put my animal down so he would not suffer. we call the office at 4:40 and then instructed us that the doctor had already left for the day but they tried to get ahold of us. Gathering artwork in shock we ask the office manager how in the world could you do that to someone he simply replied your appointment was at 4:10 I saw her write it down he said to us. Blatantly lying to me of course has the receptionist made it clear he was not around earlier. I hope people hear these words and I hope they understand that even if this doctor was once good his office management has made it impossible for him to continue to be so. 0 stars! Last week my husband took one of our dogs in for a consult of a massive growth. During the appointment he was told the earliest surgery available was today and he accepted the date and time and thought it was scheduled. I show up today to drop our dog off today and everything plummeted. I wasn't greeted, but they had a full lobby, so I signed-in, the receptionists look at the computer, then look at me and ask why I'm there and tell me I'm not on the schedule. Caught off guard, I asked why, told them about the appointment last week, and was greeted with rude comments. They never apologized for the mistake or miscommunication and didn't offer to put me on the schedule for the next available surgery, I had to ask for it. I went home and found the quoted paperwork provided to my husband, I called the vet back, I admitted the paperwork didn't have a date of surgery on it, but I wanted to know what happened and where the ball got dropped, whether it was the vet's fault or my husband's. Melissa responded with a very rude and unwarranted attitude. As a customer, I just wanted to know what happened and how to prevent it from happening again, I'm just worried about my dog's health and well-being. When I asked to speak with the vet, I was told I can only leave a message with the receptionist and the message would be relayed back and forth that way. I was appalled by the rude and extremely unsatisfactory customer service I received today both in person and over the phone. I wanted to leave a message for the Dr. and let him know how unprofessional and rude Melissa was. I admit I was upset, aggravated, and responded with defensive tones myself, however, Melissa didn't like my questions or message I wanted to leave with the vet (assuming it would even be relayed) and said "okay, we're done" and hung up on me. I immediately called back and she answered, said her greeting as if I was any other customer; I told her someone just hung up on me and her name was Melissa, and her response was a proud "yea, that was me." After another heated conversation just trying to understand their process and where the ball got dropped, it was determined that it was my husband's fault for not making sure the right notes were entered into the system for the surgery he agreed to be scheduled. That is absolutely ridiculous! Clearly the staff at County Line Animal Hospital does not communicate internally and especially does not communicate well with its paying, repeat customers. This is the most ridiculous, unprofessional experience I've ever encountered with a vet office! We will not be returning EVER. I do not recommend this vet to anyone.
