Worst experience ever and I have had some awful cab experiences. They came and picked up the wrong person and when I called dispatch he was a complete POS, blamed me called me a liar and hung up on me. I current don't even know if they sent another cab, how long it will take or how much it would cost. All I want to do is leave this hospital and this is the cab service they call for you. I took rainbow taxi and the guy was rude. He wouldn't let me sit in the front and almost left me and my mom stranded in Pittsfield.

FOR YOUR SAFETY DO NOT TAKE THIS TAXI COMPANY!!!! Sexual harassment, rudeness,unprofessionalism, the list goes on. The dispatcher NEEDS to be fired. He is incredibly rude and will yell, cuss, and hang up on you for literally no reason, just seems like he hates his job or life, I try to be very nice when I call as I have worked in customer service for years and know what it's like, he is just so extremely rude to a level I've never experienced before. On top of that it's overpriced and dangerous. Some of the drivers I've had are predatory men who will straight up say sexual and inappropriate things to you while driving/dropping off. The owner told me a driver would pick me up to take me to Stoughton, Mass. in 2 hours. When he finally arrived in a junk yard Cadillac from 1970 he demanded $500. in cash up front. The car reeked of gasoline and car fumes and the interminable, long and boring 3 hour ride to Stoughton, Mass. was enervating during which he played loud music. The noxious car gave my dog and me acute carbon monoxide poisoning so we had to keep the windows rolled down in January for 3 hours. Dreadful. BMC ER called them for me at 1:45 a.m. and were told the driver was in Dalton and would be picking me up next. Ninety minutes later, the cab showed up, but refused to take me because he was picking up someone else from the hospital. He said he was the only guy working that night. I was told that this happens often - patients are left high and dry for hours while Rainbow cabs take other fares ahead of them. read more

Unbelievably bad service. Like, bonkers terrible. The first time we used this service, the car was **disgusting** - multiple cigarette holes in the seat, vague smell of vomit that was never properly cleaned, all around gross. Unfortunately, because they are the only game in town, we had to call them for our return trip. The dispatcher said a car would arrive in 45 minutes, so we asked if they could let us know when they arrive. The dispatcher yelled, "No!" and hung up the phone. 35 minutes later we went outside to wait for the car and no one ever showed up. When we called to inquire as to when the driver would arrive, the dispatcher said, "He came a half hour ago and left," and again hung up the phone. Unbelievable that this operation stays in business. Car services are an important public safety measure, but this one should have it's business license revoked. read more

I've used this service before and while they didn't have great attitudes, It was barrable for the few times. However, I just recently (9/15/2023) used a cab to get home at night and the driver asked what I was charged by my last driver to get home. It was $10, I told him this and he thought I was trying to lie to him and said I thought he was new. Apparently, they don't use the meters anymore, but my last driver did. I had to pay in advance because my last driver messed up. I was basically extorted $20!!! read more

So,i called for a cab, the rude dispatcher was extremely rude when he told me 2 hours....well I could get another ride by then...for.MUCH cheaper. So I told him nevermind..that was around soonish, fast forward to 9 o'clock a random taxi shows up at my house...if this is an intimidating tactic I'll see what I can do to get their license revoked. This place is such an anti-customer operation, it's amazing that they're in business at all. My car went dead, got towed and I needed to get to work a mile and a half away. Had the weather not been -1 degrees i would've walked. To get to and from required 4 phone calls, one with the rudest man ever, I assume he was dispatcher, and 3 hours of wait time. Dispatchers have poor customer service. Any question is treated as if you're being an inconvenience. I've gotten hung up multiple times during the year I lived in this area, including when I asked to speak to a supervisor. Most of drivers are pleasant. I've only had one poor experience with a driver. My review is for the taxi company only. Not any affiliated businesses. read more

Absolutely worst dispatchers. I'll keep this short. I called them the other day to have a friend go to the ER. I left my friends house, I look at my phone often to check the time. Two minutes after I left my friends house, Rainbow Taxi is calling me. "my driver has been in the driveway for five minutes" umm no he hasn't. "if he doesn't walk out the door soon he's leaving". I repeated myself, what I said in the original call. "My friend is slightly delusional because of his medication for Parkinson. He's moving slower because of it". The dispatcher, "yes I know that. He needs to walk out the door soon or my driver is leaving". So I called my friend, he left all flustered. He left part of his house unlocked, I had to call the Dalton Police to help lock it. When my friend comes out of the hospital, I will set up an Uber account for him to avoid Rainbow Taxi. read more

After reading the reviews, apparently my exact situation has happened to multiple people. I called at 9 pm after a play to get a taxi to go back to my hotel. Dispatcher told me 35 min. I call back at 9:50 to check on the status, he told me the driver already came, didn't see me and left. I said I've been out on the sidewalk for the last 45 min, and no one came. The dispatcher hung up on me. I called again only to be told he won't send me a car then hung up on me again. I called two more times saying I'd pay twice the fare, it was dark and cold, and I just needed to get home. He hung up on me both of those times. I had to call a coworker and wake him up to get me. I'm from NYC and use taxis often, never in my life had I experienced this level of unprofessionalism. If my coworker was unable to get me I would have been stranded in downtown Pittsfield until the busses run the next morning at 6 am. Do not support this business if you can help it. read more

So I'm finally home after an hour of waiting and 3 phone calls later along with threats to cancel my cab after waiting so long all because the dispatcher wasn't honest about how long my wait would be. And after my wait the driver had an attitude also and tried to refuse to take me home after waiting as long as I did he would have had to run me over before I let that happen. This company is the worse and they are only arrogant because they are the only cab company in Pittsfield. But rest assure uber and lyft will soon have them only picking up those voucher rides they are famous for. I will never call Rainbow cab again!! -1 is my actual rating for this company. read more

Wow, my experience was very different than the other reviewers. The dispatcher was very friendly; he really scrambled to get me a ride on time. They were swamped but he was able to. He was also really friendly despite me being sleep-deprived and grumpy. The driver was skilled and professional. Granted, I only have taken a couple of rides - but from what -I- experienced, Rainbow Taxi deserves 5 stars. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with Rainbow Taxi. I planned my weekend hiking on the Appalachian Trail around their reliability and learned too late that it proved to be non-existant. My story is that as a solo hiker I planned to park my car in Cheshire MA, take rainbow taxi south to US-20 and then walk north 26 miles over two days to return to my car. First I called rainbow on Friday evening and they assured me that transport would not be a problem and to call 30 min before I needed a lift. The next morning when I called 30 min early at 7am I reached a different operator. He said that he was sending a car to get me and quoted a high price. 45 minutes later when My taxi hadn't yet arrived I discovered that the second operator had not dispatched a car and instead simply left his shift and went home (how irresponsible is that?) No car would be available to me for at least 2.5 more hours which spoiled my hiking day by burning up much needed daylight hours. Consequently I called a different car service, Park Taxi whom (I hope) will be much more reliable (cheaper too). In my opinion the operator from Rainbow Taxi who failed to send a car and didn't even have the decency to call and explain that no car woukd be coming should be terminated. I will not be calling Rainbow Taxi ever again and I recommend that you don't either. read more

If you can possibly find any other way home (camel, llama, walking, piggy back on your grandma), do it. We were told it would be a 30-40 minute wait, so after waiting for over an hour we called to inquire and the absolute rudest dispatcher (worst hobgoblin ever created) told us we were being rude and subsequently CANCELLED our ride, leaving us stranded. Well, my family has been forced to use this service for over 15 years and they SUCK. First the wait time to be picked up in terrible. The cars are broken down pieces of junk that smell. In the winter the heat doesn't always work, and in the summer there is either no a/c or there is frost on the windows. The drivers are weird and smelly. I have lost two jobs because one female dispatcher seems to enjoy making me at least 30 to 45 minutes late for work. Sometimes during the middle of a regular mid-week business day, you have to wait up to 2 hours for a taxi. I have been stranded in the middle of nowhere because if you call back they get upset and cancel your ride. The drivers keep all their personal stuff in the front seat and refuse to let even elderly customers ride in the front. My grandmother had recently recovered from a broken hip and instead of putting their stuff in the trunk, they made her wimper and cry out in pain trying to get in the back seat with myself and my two children. They only take 4 passengers to a cab, but give enough space for those people in a small back seat. The prices for the rides is high. and rarely worth the ride. Uber prices are one tenth of their costs. It is surprising they have stayed in business so long. I have been told they have been in business over 30 years. There are one or two nice drivers and all the drivers give out personal phone numbers. If you have the chance get a business card from a driver and call them directly, to keep from dealing with the most useless dispatchers I have ever run into. They should all be lined up outside their office and shot in the knees, and have a mangy dog pee on them before they die slowly. read more

They will hang up on you if you call, be rude once you're in the cab, and drive terrible. So all that being said, Rainbow is obviously NOT perfect.. the cars are outdated and some of the drivers are a little rough around the edges, but none of them smell bad and they dont treat you like a piece of garbage.. they take care of the people, the REGULARS, before someone says "oh I am lazy today" I am running late,the cab should just take me over everyone else" These are the people that whine and cry on here as MOST of the time the regulars get picked up On time.. Worst cab company Ive ever had the misfortune of dealing with, called earlier in the afternoon and asked how much a cab from The berkshire mall to williamstown we were told 40 dollars reasonable for distance . After we did our shopping and got ready to call our cab we get on the phone with a very rude dispatcher. He replies with were not sending anyone out til 6 am tomorrow. Thats a 12 hour wait . When were told we are open 24 hours and they are able to go anytime. This company Is also run by a bunch of junkies. I would rather stick 100 needles into my eyes slowly then to ever deal with this scummy company. read more
