Great experience yesterday. I went in to this store on a mission, actually 3 missions. Each department I went in to I was greeted and asked if I needed any help. There's some things I've always loved about this store. Broad selection while a conveniently compact store to shop in. But these days ... they aren't keeping up with the accuracy of the prices listed on the shelves. I take a few steps away after my purchases are rung up, wondering, did I remember this wrong? $2-$3 discrepancy, per item, between the shelf price, and what's rung up at the register. Worse, they don't own that *it's* *their* *job* to keep the shelf labels accurate. Yes, they refund to shelf label price, but fire back "It's the computer.", "It's Ace." This is becoming a "shop elsewhere" issue, for me. read more

Echo Inc website says they are the area's authorized service center. Drove 40 miles to find out "only if you bought it here" I will be reaching out to Echo ASAP to hopefully have that designation removed. read more

The best hardware store around! I am always able to find what I need when the big box stores don't have it. The prices are way better too and they actually stock their shelves. They don't price gauge either like a lot of people could doing during a pandemic. Very fair. read more

Ever go to Lowe's or Home Depot, where you can't find help until you walk to the far corner of the store, where you find five employees engaged in a social conversation? And then when you have the temerity to interrupt, and ask for help, after standing next to them while they purposely avoid eye contact, they are annoyed. This place is the exact opposite. It's probably one of the best managed retail stores I've ever encountered. People want to help and work with you. If one person doesn't quite have the expertise, he or she quickly finds a person who does. Everyone knows the inventory and has clear answers for whatever problem you have. And you don't have to walk a country mile to "somewhere on the right hand side on aisle 703" for four screws of a particular size that are either out of stock, or bundled in packages where you have to buy twenty of them for six bucks. This place has very extensive inventory with people who know every square inch of the store and are actually happy to help out. It's old school retailing, the way it should be done. read more

Went to the Engine house to have two belts changed on my snow thrower. Was told by the attendant there was a 6 to 8 week wait time for service. When I finally got the snow thrower to be serviced for the belts at the shop, I got a phone call two days later. They told me the exhaust was cracked, the shoes were broken, the gas cap was chipped, new helicoils had to installed in the housing. It could be fixed for $650. They did not mention the belts at all!!!! Imagine you went to a diner and ordered a hamburger. The waiter tells you that they are serving sushi only today. What would you do? If you want something serviced at County Stores you might as well go to McDonalds. At least you could eat because they only serve crap at County Stores. Rich F. read more

I can't say enough good things about this hardware store and their engine repair shop. In the middle of the pandemic they picked up my lawn tractor, serviced it, and delivered it back in less than a week. Seamless. And their owner, Jim, and Dick always put customers first. Jim and Dick are also lawn experts. I always take their advice and it's far better than having a lawn service. I have been going there for 30 years and will always be a life long customer. read more

Been using them for over 20 years and can't say enough good things about the store staff. Today I went in for a $3 item and the helpful clerk must hafew spent 15 minutes trying to figure it out with me. Every time I am looking for something and ask where something is, they walk you over to the item in question and make sure to answer all your questions, rather than just pointing in a general direction and walking away like the big box stores. I've bought 3 grills, a smoker, a generator, couple lawn mowers, and god knows how many smaller items over the years as well as using their repair services. This is a classic example of how a local hardware store can compete with Walmart/HomeDepot/Lowes just down the street. They have an enormous varied inventory. I bought two high-end Jackson wheelbarrows there and they had the lowest price! A huge selection of Echo power products all at competitive prices. I feel I can just go there and they'll have what I need at fair prices. Highly recommended. read more

As a guy who as built houses from the foundation to the roof peak and as a former fleet vehicle mechanic, son of a farmer and life-long 'fixer-guy', I have known excellent people in hardware/construction/parts. The folks at County Stores stand alone in their knowledge and customer service and desire to help. In my mind, they are all 'Legends' in their know-how and general mechanical and parts knowledge. I have NEVER gone to County Store and not found what I needed. Staff are incredibly helpful. Once needed to find an unusual combination of screws and nuts to string together for a project, employee work with me for over 45 minutes trying to help figure out what I needed to make my project work! read more

This place is amazing. The help here is the most knowledgeable and experienced crew I have found yet in a hardware store and they seem to have just about everything. The Engine House part of their business is fantastic as well, and I continually do my part to keep the entire establishment in business. The only drawback I have found is the wait-time with the repair shop; however, a little planning ahead with preventative maintenance may keep your equipment running well when you need it and the wait doesn't matter! read more

Re: Engine House Service - I have used them twice and been extremely disappointed both times. The counter service is rude and less than helpful. Items I asked be fixed were not fixed, maintenance I requested not be completed because I can do it myself was performed and charged to me, and worst of all service I paid for and was told was completed, I found was not completed. An utter disaster. I'm tired of this place .....too bad bc I love the hardware store. Total rip-off. They deserve no stars but it doesn't let you do that. read more
