You know... I'd never thought that there would be a day where I love a turkey sandwich this much. The clean turkey really is so delicious. The combination of the sweet pickles, white onions, and arugula is a match made in heaven for the turkey breast. I usually am not a fan of arugula bc i find the taste to be too much but the flavor is very subtle in the sandwich. The red wine vinegar isn't overpowering if you thought that was off putting and they put the perfect amount of mayo. I had this sandwich 4 days ago... and I am still thinking about it :( The ultimate warrior on the other hand, is complete opposite of the clean turkey. With the decadent pork shoulder and cheese, it's a warm and toasty and melty sandwich. Really love the addition of mama's lil's peppers I really like the sesame bread. Court street grocers is a neighborhood treasure and must be protected at all costs. Known for their sandwiches, you cannot go wrong with any item on their menu. I've tried the Jawn, the Clean Turkey, and the Ollie and have always been delighted during my visits. Most of their sandwiches are served on their signature toasted seeded hero's and while the sandwiches themselves are not served hot, they are perfect for a casual breakfast/lunch while you're strolling the neighborhood or dining in. I rarely do takeout reviews, but at the start of 2025 I said this was the year of growth and facing my fears, so here goes nothing: It was a picturesque New York Summer Day: Gloomy, 91 degrees, and a dew point of 71 which is essentially air you can swim in. Our group was debating what to Doordash for lunch, and the group leader confidently pitched Court Street Grocers. He's the group leader, so I just went with it. I got the Clean Turkey Sandwich, because I have an upcoming Mexico trip and I'm tryna lean out. I also added Bacon, because I'm a BEAST. I won't lie, this sandwich was fantastic. It just tasted clean, with bread that felt like it had been made the day of. Fresh bread is one of my simple pleasures in this life. However, I didn't realize it was going to come out to $20 with bacon added. While I loved this sandwich, for $20 I would have wanted WAY more Turkey. I wanted that Turkey to be BUSTING out the bread. Thanks to an article in the New York Post suggesting they had a sandwich named after him, and being a Knicks fan, I figured, oh what the hell, I have nothing to lose by coming here. To say I had nothing to lose is an overstatement, I feel like I blew a wide open layup in garbage time. The sandwiches are okay. I like what is in them. They are plenty tasty and the ingredients do work beautifully. Sure, I had to make some adjustments to make it more palatable for me, but overall, nice job. I fault a few other things, and not just the exorbitant prices of the sandwiches that left me leaving angry and frustrated. -The sandwiches are TINY. I polished off the sandwich like a rookie defender. I timed myself from table to stomach and it took me three minutes and twenty five seconds to eat it all. -The whole experience has a pretentious, Carroll Gardens feel to it. From the staff to the customers, I did not feel wanted or appreciated. Just another body ready to give profit. This store caters to the super rich and I think they know it. -The bread is supposed to make the sandwich. Instead it is a sloppy mess and I had to go through many napkins to eat this. The experience left me feeling less like a superstar point guard and more like someone riding the pine, only to be thrust into action because he got injured. -- I did like them playing ABBA as I was eating. That was fun. I can also appreciate them being close by the subway. That helps too. Everything else left me wondering why I walked in here. If not for a newspaper article I guess I would have simply stayed home. However, I guess it is better to take it to the rack than chuck up a brick. Great, High quality and fresh sandwiches in a cute and cozy setting. Everything from the quality of the meats to the freshness of the bread is top notch. My main gripe is just the value of the sandwiches here. Pricing is very steep with most sandwiches being around $17. With this much money you would expect a lot of food, but they are very stingy with the meat. I ordered the droopy and, as you can see in my picture, you only get 4 slices of roast beef. Wow!! This sandwich was perfect between the texture, crunch, and everything in between - it was a 10/10. Lots of Deli's in Brooklyn. My sister dug this deli and felt it was worth the walk. Deli is tight on space, has a limited assortment of baked treats and about 25 sandwiches to choose from. Here's my three things: 1) Most of the sandwiches are deli favorites. I would just say each has an item, preparation or condiment that sets it apart. The Italian had a creamy giardiniera DELICIOUS! 2) Dining area had water out for those who don't want something fizzy from the coolers and condiments out for those that need some kick. Words cannot describe the truly mediocre experience we just had at Court Street Grocer. Context: we have been 3-4 times and enjoyed our sandwiches. This time, we ordered at 12:29 via DoorDash pickup. As we grew hungrier and hungrier, we got more excited. When they finally were ready at 1:20 PM (15 min past the anticipated ETA) we were met with the most hastily put together, mayo-based slop of all time. One sandwich was meant to have coleslaw and pickles; it all blended together in a drippy mayo-y mess. No acid - no tang - no zest - barely even any salt. Just mayo. The other, a pulled pork sandwich, had absolutely no flavor other than roasted red pepper. Each sandwich was 18 dollars, bringing our total bill to $38.11. Any old neighborhood bodega would have been better, faster, and cheaper. Court Street Grocers: what are we paying for? The food was overpriced and bland, and the service was slow and apathetic. Owners, if you care: do not bother replying to this review, because nothing you could do (refund, free food, nice apology) could make up for how disappointing and lame this experience was. We will never, ever go back. I would rather go to the grocery store and spend an hour making a sandwich for half the price and double the satisfaction.  Truly a ridiculous experience and an utter waste of time. read more

I had been contemplating and looking forward to a breakfast splurge, going to CSG on LaGuardia for their ridiculously delicious Pork Roll. I went this AM and was disappointed that they changed the roll -- which is key to the sandwich. It used to be made on the best potato roll, now it's served on a dry roll. The service was friendly but be prepared to wait minimum of twenty to twenty five minutes for sandwich to be made. The only place to wait is outside as there is no inside seating. And although the sandwich was good the sandwich is a bit pricy at $16, given that this is strictly a take out establishment and the sandwich is not shareable. They have pantry staples for sale as well. It doesn't initially look like there's indoor seating but there's a good amount of seating in the room over - just ask the staff if you can't find it. There's also three or four large tables on the sidewalk. But if the weather is good and you are okay with a walk, the promenade and piers are sorta close by. read more

Very excited to finally have tried court street grocers! I heard a lot of amazing things and one of the stand out faves seemed to be the broccoli Reuben so I knew I had to get it. I ordered ahead of time so I could avoid the wait but on a weekday there was actually no line at all! The sandwich itself is actually quite good. The broccoli gives it a nice texture and actually fits in quite well with the sauerkraut and Russian dressing. The bread is also quite good and had a nice crisp when grilled. However, it is $16 for what is essentially broccoli and sauerkraut so that makes lunch at court street grocers far less appealing. Looking through pictures it seems like it used to be around $13 which is a much fairer price for what it is. I would consider coming back and trying one of the meat sandwiches since they seem to be a better bang for your buck. read more

You can taste how fresh ever ingredient is, especially the house made roast beef which is my favorite! But you truly can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches, and trust me I've had almost every single one over the years. The vibes are great in this little shop, offering all sorts of fun little local or small business brands goodies in the store. This place also has an amazing little fresh baked goods section where everything is divine. The service is nice, nothing too crazy but it usually is a little bit of a wait for your order (20-40 mins). The only other last thing is that I do unfortunately think the sandwiches are on the pricey side. Each will run you about $16 which although very very good, a tad bit expensive. I have mixed feelings about CSG. They are friendly and efficient. It definitely caters to the newer folks in the neighborhood. Less than 10 minutes from ordering to getting our food. The eggs in the taylor ham sandwich were so fluffy and scrambled. Wish there was more taylor ham. You're all out of your mind with these 5 star reviews. Love that this is a local spot and was super excited to try them out. I walk by a lot and it's always busy, and the menu sounded great. I hate writing bad reviews for local places, but come on. It surprisingly wasn't that busy when I went. I waited 40 minutes for my sandwich. Annoying, but these things can be forgiven if the food is good. I got the Ollie (with bacon), a soda (I did enjoy the options, as you get more than your standard Coke/Pepsi choices), and chips for...$25. The sandwich was mostly bread (look at that bread to sandwich ratio!), a few teeny bits of turkey, WAY too much Mayo (the mayo should never overshadow everything else in a sandwich), and barely any flavor of anything else. Maybe other things are better here, but I'm a firm believer that "Oh YoU JuSt OrDeReD tHe WrOnG ThInG" is nonsense when it comes to a restaurant. read more

Caputo bread is already amazing so they're starting off with a great base, plus supporting local businesses as well. We got the Jawn and the Delight, both were absolutely delicious. The Delight was indeed a delight, a warm balance of sauce and coleslaw to compliment the savory corned beef. The Jawn had a good blend of cheese to add complexity to what could otherwise be a simple roast beef sandwich. Also got ice cream from Sundae Service Creamery which is relatively exclusive at this point. Downside, it takes a little longer than expected to slap a sandwich together, but if you nab a seat at their few tables outside you can pretend it's brunch. Also obviously a little expensive but all the ingredients are top quality so treat it as a splurge. read more
