Is a zero star rating a thing? Because if so, this should be it. My daughter has TMJ. After having TMJ surgery and her wisdom teeth removed in 2018, the next step in her journey is to have braces. After a consultation in early 2021, we decided to move forward with Courtesy Dental and utilized their payment plan. All seemed to go well until my daughter moved for college. We were told she would have access to Courtesy Dental in southern Nevada for continuing adjustments and such. We were thrilled to have a state-wide service to help her condiditon. Shortly after she moved to southern Nevada, the payment plan stopped. We inquired to find out that Courtesy Dental in Carson City no longer does orthodontics. They recommended her to get setup with a Courtesy Dental in Las Vegas (which were at their patient max). No luck! So now what do we do? We called Courtesy Dental over and over to find that the location in Carson had been sold to a dentist that did not perform orthodontics. But that's okay, right, because Courtesy Dental has other location? No again. After calling the Sparks location, we were told that we would have to pay $3100 to continue services. Why? Because that was the remaining on the account. Now I've been in the world of finance for 20+ years. I pay my bills. Courtesy Dental stopped taking the payment. I didn't stop paying the bill. In fact, I called to have them continue to take payments to find that my daughter is no longer a patient. Now the issue becomes how to we get her braces removed so we can find another solution? Well... COURTESY DENTAL WILL NOT REMOVE THEM. Nor will any other orthodontist. After this review, I am writing to the Dental Board of Examiners in Nevada. This is the WORST service. I would have payed to have this completed, as agreed to. But to drop my daughter as a patient without communication and no alternative solution? This is garbage. I've been a customer for nine years and always have had a great experience. Dr. Curtis is very conservative--no unnecessary work! The dental hygienist is great. Yes, the insurance processing center is in Florida, but I have never had a problem. You will get the truth and quality work with this company. read more

I am 68 years old and have been to many dentists in my lifetime. I have never trusted a dentist more than Dr. Russell Curtis. He is not an alarmist. He never does procedures because of what may happen in the future, such as replacing fillings or crowns. And if he feels he may not be able to do something (as in my case, a difficult root canal) he will let you know. Dr. Curtis takes time with his patients and I am fortunate to have him as my dentist. He is not only my dentist but has also become my friend. read more

The dentist here said you get what you pay for. At 3800 dollars this is cheaper then the other dentist but even with wearing the retainer nightly my daughters front teeth are crooked and it has only been a few years.They said there is nothing they can do except have her pay for new braces. This time we will use smile direct club as we have seen better results with them. I suggest you call and try to get ahold of an orthodontist here as you are directed to Florida and they never call you back. Again from the doctors mouth himself,"you get what you pay " I would have expected even for 3800 dollars straight teeth for my daughter for longer. No-one wants to wear braces a second time when they are twenty. read more

Unfortunately this was the first place we found that would take medicaid for my daughter who had an abscess in her gums.The doctor gave her an antibiotic and said see you in 2 weeks. After the meds were gone the infection was not. It was worse and had moved to the other side of her mouth and up into her sinuses and head, causing dizziness and pain. We called the office (on a Friday) over and over leaving many messages. We also called the emergency line and left a message with the answering service. That was March 1st this is now March 6th and we have yet to hear from anyone! She ended up in the ER on Saturday where they were shocked at the original meds that were used and said they were not good for fixing what she had. They gave her a much stronger medication and so far so good. We still need a new dentist so I will be looking around today. But there is NO EXCUSE for them treating her like this and ignoring 7 calls asking for help! Not good at all. So beware people... read more

I really want to like this place. Some of the front desk girls are pretty nice but other than that I have been treated very poorly. The dentist talks to me with his eyes closed the majority of the time he is talking wich really freaks me out. The assistants treat me as if they are robots with no personality. Very cold feeling. I've also had an assistant talking to another assistant while doing work on me talking about how "fucked up they got over the weekend" . Felt like I was in Compton, not Carson City. There is much more to my experiences there but difficult to explain online. Just do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

We have loved this place because we hate to spend unnecessary money and we are retired with no dental. We could afford a classier place but don't need one. Dr. Curtis does not spend money on a fancy office but he passes the savings onto his customers. He is a great guy and truly cares about helping people So glad we found this place. read more

I love Courtesy Dental!! I went to the Reno location and was able to get in at my convenience, never much of a wait time, and nice enough staff. Next on to Carson City. My husband and I, and three of my grandkids go there, 3 of us (two of my grandkids and myself at 55 years of age) in Braces!! Orthodontic staff amazing, love the doc!! Had my braces off yesterday after a year and a half, my teeth look amazing! I never imagined that I would have such a beautiful smile after hating my smile my entire life. Appointments were always convenient and easy to make, the staff was beyond nice -they are completely nice and friendly. I recommend them HIGHLY- braces on a person of my age? Yeah I got some giggles, but I'd do it again in a minute and have referred several friends. The office staff? ALWAYS friendly, not a place where you hear gossip about other workers, or patients, always professional, kind and accommodating. I don't recommend this place to anybody and if you have any other choice I urge you to take it. This place does not care about you. We have been going to this office now for year and a half and have had more problems than solutions. The front staff is very difficult to work with with only one person really having an understanding of good customer service. The orthodontic crew and the dentist crew seem to be like opposing gangs. Always putting each other down and never helping each other out even when it means putting the patient out. When I told them their hygienist was really rude us lectured us and told us not to use toothpaste they shake their head and said "maybe you should try our other office because she's just awful." Not to mention the actual work they do is not awesome. I'm currently dealing with a cavity that they already filled that is having problems less than one year later. I would give a negative one star if I could. I had the opportunity to tell the dentist about our problems and he looked me in the face and said "my staff wouldn't do that." When I insisted this was a problem we were having he just kept insisting that I was wrong. I guess because most people are not paying out-of-pocket and are stuck with their insurance he feels he can do this. I'm lucky enough to have more choices. I do pay out-of-pocket for my insurance and we probably switched dentists. I don't recommend this place to anybody and if you have any other choice I urge you to take it. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody, for went there with teeth issues(because i had 2 different insurance plans and they happen to be the only place that took both) and was immediately asked if it was because of drugs, which is ridiculous. Got my work done which was told the combination of the 2 insurances i had a 50dollar copay and that was it. Fast forward 8 months when their billing dept finally tried to bill my insurances. They attempted to charge the wrong company who denied it because i wasn't their customer (i had delta dental of Minnesota they charged delta dental of oregon) then they charged my secondary insurance as the primary and sent me a bill for 1200dollars. After numerous heated conversations with their billing dept which is in Florida so it's not too easy to contact them. I owe them around 500. Bottom line if you have to go here they will treat you decent. But if you can avoid it and go to one of the other dentists in town, DO IT read more

I would give fewer stars if it was an option. This is the most incompetent dental practice I have ever dealt with. Find a different practice. We only used this dentist because they accepted our insurance. We would have spent less money by going to another dentist not covered by our insurance, and paying out of pocket. In September I was fitted for a night guard and a crown. It took nearly two months for the crown to be ready and even then it was a halfway job and doesn't fit right. Four months later and I STILL have not received said night guard. They have taken molds of my teeth three different times and sent them to their lab to have my guard made, each time it was the wrong type of guard or my molds were unusable. Whatever the reason, this office obviously cannot handle simple tasks. After their last attempt to have me back in for a fourth mold I told them I'd rather get my money back than deal with them any longer. This has been months and months of frustration, rescheduling and constantly having my husband take time off work to sit with our kids so I could make my appointments. This office is a complete joke.
