Two ratings: One for Sales and One for Service.
The Good: Sales
I called Courtesy to inquire about a new vehicle and ended up speaking with Lee. I explained that, before I make the decision whether or not I want to upgrade vehicles, I would like to drive the new model to see how I felt about the new engine option. Lee was very understanding and we agreed that I would come in the next day to look at the vehicle.
The next day, I went to Courtesy to check out the new vehicle. While I was there, I dropped my truck off at the service department for an oil change. Much more on that later. Lee and I took the vehicle for a test drive and discussed the changes between the previous generation and the current one. I am the type of person who researches things thoroughly before even considering a purchase. Lee was very understanding of this and was never pushy at all about making a sale. He was very patient with me, even when I explained that I did not want to take up too much of his time since I would not be making the purchase immediately. He insisted that I was not wasting his time and spent a considerable amount of time with me reviewing the vehicle.
All in all, my experience with Lee was worthy of a five-star rating. "Why only one star, then?" I'm glad you asked....
The Bad: Service
As mentioned before, I left my truck with the service department for an oil change. I was advised that it would be roughly an hour and a half. That wasn't an issue, since I was there to look at a new vehicle. While dropping the vehicle off, the service rep advised that they would rotate my tires for me as a courtesy ("as a courtesy" implying free, right?). I explained that my tires had been rotated only 100 miles ago, so I did not want my tires to be rotated. I advised that I only wanted my oil to be changed and the other fluids to be checked.
After there was a clear understanding of what services I required and what I wished to decline, I left the vehicle and went off to speak with the sales rep. Or so I thought there was an understanding...
After finishing my time with sales, I went to pay the service department and pick up my vehicle. Upon inspecting the receipt, I saw that there was a $16.95 charge for rotating my tires. (Some courtesy) I explained that I had explicitly stated that I did NOT want my tires rotated, as they had been rotated only 100 miles ago. I was told that the charge would be taken off. That's great and all, but I also needed the tires to be rotated back so they would not be back in the position that they had been for the previous 5,000 miles. The service rep explained that there were four other vehicles ahead of me and that it would be at least a half hour....... That spoke volumes. Instead of immediately correcting their mistake, I was simply going to be shuffled to the back of the line after they had already had my vehicle for two hours. I had neither the time nor the patience to wait another 30+ minutes, so I took delivery of my vehicle and left the dealership. Prior to leaving, the service rep attempted to talk about the vehicle I had been looking at, as if that would make me forget the fact that they had just screwed up and then were not willing to make amends immediately.
To put the icing on the cake, I noticed after leaving the dealership that the service department had only put the valve stem covers back on the driver's side wheels. They left them off of the passenger side entirely.
Courtesy Ford already has a $4,000 mark up on the new Raptor. There are two dealerships within a 4 hour drive that are selling them at MSRP. A major reason for buying a vehicle locally is so you can take your vehicle to the same dealership for service. If this is the level of competency I can expect from Courtesy Ford's service department, I'd rather save the $4,000 and buy a $70,000 vehicle elsewhere.
In short, Lee with the sales team was awesome. Very knowledgeable. Very professional and polite. The kind of guy you'd want to have a beer with. The service department? Not so much. read more
