I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Canton for two nights. The hotel is located in a good area because it's close to the highway and has lots of shopping and dining options near by. Initially we had a difficult time finding the hotel. We had to go through this vacant parking lot past a closed business. The hotel is way in the back. The parking lot had a lot of potholes in it too. I was initially thinking "Oh s***!"But once we found it, we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel staff were very nice and professional. The hotel is pet friendly, but, the staff has to meet your dog first to make sure that he/she is friendly and safe. We brought my rambunctious granddog. They petted him, talked sweetly, and gave him treats. He was happy! He was barking and acting up but you couldn't hear him barking outside of our room. I tested it so good job with the thick walls! The room wasn't the most updated but it was clean and spacious. It had a nice size TV and had free wifi. Yay! The lobby was comfortable with ample seating! There is a fitness center, pool area, and free buffet breakfast with Starbucks coffee. I'm not a big Starbucks fan but a lot of people are and they had it there. The hotel even has a free charging station for electric cars! I had a good experience and I would stay again :-) read more

My husband and I stayed at this hotel because it was a packaged trip with a group with a preset itinerary. We were there for the Hall of Fame festivities. We arrived at 1:30 PM and they told us that they did not have any rooms available and for us to come back at check-in, which was 3 PM. They still did not have any rooms at that time and we proceeded to wait until about 4:20 PM while they checked in an NFL Inductee's family of 12-15 people. We had to be ready and on the bus at 5 PM so I kept pestering the front desk, asking when our room would be available. They put us in an ADA room, even though that was not what we had chosen. We had chosen a standard king size bedroom. At least we could settle in and be ready to go with our group by 5 PM. We did not notice the issues with our room until we got back after the football game, which was close to midnight. Our TV did not work and since it was an ADA room, the shower head and drain was in the middle of the bathroom, which was kind of weird. We also noticed a musty, damp smell and feel to our room. We brought our own pillows and when we laid them on the bed, the hotel pillows felt kind of damp. We called the front desk to alert them about our TV not working and they sent a facilities staff person to check it out. Turns out it was busted so we spent that night unable to unwind with TV. We requested a different room but the front desk said they were sold out. The next morning I went to the front desk again and they had the facilities manager come in and evaluate the TV again, as well as the shower. Our shower had very poor water pressure and the shower wand was broken. The facilities manager said he would have to rebuild our shower, that it would take about an hour, so we went to breakfast and came back to get ready for our next event. The shower was still not done. My husband had to take a shower in the pool area and that did not have a shower head, just a shower wand and he had to hold it while showering. There was no piece to hold the wand and he was unable to secure it above his head. He also noticed black mold on the walls in our room, which made sense given the damp pillows and musty smell. We asked to speak to a manager about all of our issues and she was very kind and apologetic and immediately put us in an available standard room, which was the room we should've originally had. She showed us the available room to make sure we approved of it. Because we were traveling with a group, she couldn't refund us our money, but she did award us with points for a future stay. I was just very shocked that this came from a Marriott hotel. We do not travel that often and have had no problems before. The hotel is old and in dire need of a full renovation. read more

First of all, let me give the positive tips The TV worked well. The air-conditioning worked well and we had no bedbugs so I am appreciative of that. Now the negatives. Our phone did not work. I did tell them about the phone, but they did nothing about it. It had nothing but static. There was no breakfast You had to pay for breakfast. There were no microwaves in the room. We had to walk downstairs and to the end of the hall to use the microwave because the elevator was broke. all in all it's a nice clean hotel and it seems to be run pretty well but the things that I named could use some fixing. read more

Enjoyed my stay here, but there are things the place can definitely work on. First, even though I did mobile check-in, had to go to the counter to get the keys. The staff member was busy assisting someone over the phone, they place them on hold to get me checked in. Second, the hallway that leads to the fitness center was dark. I had expected the lights were auto sensing, but it wasn't, never came on. Third, the elevator - I think the only one, inside was worn out. Fourth - the shower head had hard water stains, but thankfully the water pressure was good. Fifth, the sofa they had, the cushion had stains on them, yeah avoided using the sofa :) Thankfully the bed was firm and nice, had comfortable sleep. read more

This is an older hotel, and the room that I stayed in didn't seem to be modeled quite yet. My room did not look like what was in the picture that was portrayed. The thermostat in my room was old and difficult to work but other than that, I was very pleased with the room, as well as the excellent front step service whose name was Larry. My room came with breakfast the next morning and I got a Pepsi zero that unfortunately was out of date. They happily replaced it immediately. I also received a message prior to my stay that the Wi-Fi was not working correctly in the hotel, and that the Wi-Fi in the lobby would be the main area where we could access it. I emailed back saying that I had, an important zoom call that evening and they arrange for a conference room to be set aside for me to use for my zoom call. By the time I got there, however the Wi-Fi seem to be working fine from the room so I didn't need to use it. Kudos to the staff, however, for bending over backwards to make sure my state was pleasant. read more

The room was well vacuumed and otherwise clean. The staff person I met was very friendly and helpful. The TV had a selection of regular channels and streaming. There is a nice desk area and easy to connect to Wi-Fi. The bathroom had a tub. The water pressure was very strong and the towels were clean and soft. The fridge didn't have a freezer and the shelves were small so you couldn't store food leftover from dinner. It was more for drinks. No microwave. Coffee pods in room were mediocre at best. Coffee and some snacks for $$ available in lobby in the morning. I could easily hear people in the courtyard and traffic on the highway. The restaurant was only open for drinks. The snacks are limited, but there were several types of drinks available. Overall, clean and welcoming. read more

I forgot my phone charger, and just brought my usb cord from the car. There was no USB ports in the room. The internet and tv didn't work, and my room was quite dusty. In general I love the courtyard Marriott brand. You get some of the qualities of a regular Marriott but not as expensive! The hotel staff is extremely nice and accommodating. I had the do not disturb sign on my door and they left me a note and a little bag just incase I needed a couple of things, without me even asking. (Never have had this happen before). I love the bistro these hotels have, the have a little shop in the lobby and bar. Also the gym had a good variety of equipment and a huge indoor pool. A cute little out door seating area too for when it's warm. The wifi is complimentary for your entire stay as well. In the morning they put out complimentary coffee and cinnamon buns. You get a lot of bang for your buck, with nice rooms and products of the hotel. I will definitely stay again and recommend for anyone visiting the area to try it all. Also the hotel shuttle will you take you about anywhere near by! Another great perk! read more

The room was dated, the hotel was dated, the bar was closed at 11p! Come on Canton! I know this is an older hotel and sometimes there's a need to tear and rebuild because just remodeling isn't enough. There is no speed control for the fan so it either runs all night on high or stops and the room gets warm and muggy. I stayed two nights, but didn't get housekeeping service. Steve was the front desk clerk and he was great! Friendly, welcoming, the bright spot in this otherwise drab hotel. read more

Beautiful hotel. Even with construction going on it was very clean and quiet. A good experience overall. Their indoor pool and gym are currently open for use. They are pet friendly which is great and you would never know because of how clean it is. The only downfall is the broken Tesla charger. I chose this hotel for the purpose of using the Tesla charger (which staff (who were very kind) did not know was broken despite there being a sign on the charger). They have ppl doing construction so I'm not sure why they haven't had them fix it. It was very inconvenient to drive to another location to charge when I could have been charging while I slept. This is why I took one star off otherwise I would rate 5 stars. read more

Nice hotel - your typical Courtyard Marriott. Only complaint is the slow, and less-than-needed elevators! Well, I guess it had the strangest entry drive...you will surely miss it on the way in if you're driving North! What an expected treat! I have to be honest I wasn't thrilled that the nicest hotel I could find for a wedding I was attending in Canton was a Courtyard, Marriott. I wanted a bit more upscale. Prior to going to Canton this week I stayed at a 5 star hotel in NYC and a lovely Hyatt in Boston and neither compared to this hotel. There is a trade-off. I went with a friend and we didn't have the bell service and room service that I would have liked but everything else more than made up for it. Let's start the list: Price - No comparison. Courtyard was $150 to $300 less per night than the others. Room - MUCH bigger than NYC hotel and for both the functionality (e.g., two beds, lots of plugs and lights in room) was SO much better. Amenities - I missed the bell and room service but they did have a lovely little bar and my friend and I enjoyed a lovely nightcap each evening with the bartender Sharon who was fabulous. Service - Service by all 3 hotels were outstanding this week. I had a good week! However this is a hotel that is charging SO much less and we still received 5 star treatment. We had special requests to deliver items to the married couple's room and they did so with so much care and enthusiasm. We needed batteries at the last minute for something we purchased the married couple - they found some at no charge. Bartender (Sharon) was fabulous and every single person at front desk was GREAT - Desiree, Cleo, Steve, ....and I am missing a couple of other lovely ladies and I am sorry because all that were working on Thursday and Friday afternoon/evening rocked! I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience here. I flew in from California for a friend's wedding and had a great experience at this hotel. First, I really liked how they had a free, no-hassle shuttle to and from the (albeit nearby) Canton/Akron airport. Second, their staff at the front desk is very courteous and helpful; they helped me get around, get a cab, and find good places to eat within walking distance. Third, the room decor was very nice and modern, and the bed was supremely comfortable -- very important. Lastly, they were very accommodating with my needing to check out 1 hour after the nominal check out time. I would come back to stay here if I were to return to Canton. read more

We chose the hotel because it was good value for having an indoor pool and somewhere to buy a drink/food. The pool is nice enough though not large. It has a hot tub and a nicely equipped fitness center. The bar was fine but the cafe appeared to be shut in the evening. There was a wedding being held but it was not intrusive. Breakfast in the morning was good. It came with room rate for a few dollars more. Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, French toast and potatoes. There were juices, pastries and coffee. read more

We stayed for 2 nights just recently. All of the staff were helpful & friendly with the exception of 1. The room desperately needs upgrades like a hair dryer with actual power, microwaves in the room and new pillows-very thin and uncomfortable, and my god the wallpaper is ugly and outdated. Our refrigerator was not cooling. Thankfully we had a cooler to use. There was mold up on the walls in 3 places in the bathroom. No vent fan in the bathroom at all. Carpet in the room did not seem very clean. The lighting in the bathroom could be much brighter. The lobby is large and nice. The buffet breakfast was good. We stayed at Spring Hill Suites hotel just next door last year and had no complaints at all. That is the hotel I would pick again if I would come back to Canton. read more

I've stayed here a few times and have had good experiences. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I even got a kick out of how the housekeeper turned my paper cup into a toothbrush holder. Friendly staff. There's a bar downstairs that closes early unless there are a lot of people there. I always intent to use there exercise room and pool, but never have. As others have said, it is easy to miss the drive to the hotel when you get off the interstate--you need to take the first left and seems kind of like gravel,,,just keep going. read more

When we checked in, the garbage by the desk had not been emptied from the previous guest. It was just papers, but it put me on guard for other oversights by the housekeeping staff, and there were plenty on our two-day stay. Housekeeping knocked at our door at 8:30 on a Saturday morning, and were vacuuming the hall around 9:00 am. Don't plan on sleeping in, even on a weekend. When they returned later to clean the room, they removed the used towels and replaced them. They also removed the empty bottles of toiletries, but didn't leave any new ones. We had to ask the front desk for shampoo and soap early the next morning when we noticed them missing. My parents stayed here as well, and they had a broken toilet in their room. After calling the front desk, they sent up someone with a plunger. It wasn't clogged, just completely non-functioning. They never repaired the problem, so my parents had to use the lobby toilet. No offer of any compensation (or a different room) from the hotel for their inconvenience - and that's a big one! The bed was comfortable, the hotel was quiet and convenient to many things, but I'll look for another place to try the next time we're in town. read more

Not impressed at all. Very clean but horrible customer-service. We were charged for ordering a pizza from Dominoes Pizza. 7 am room checks ?? Never heard of. Also the Starbucks inside the hotel doesn't accept a Starbucks gift cards. Also I was told that the hotel had laundry amenities, there was 1 washer & dryer throughout the hotel,which there was a wait to even use.i would not recommend ANYONE TO this hotel. read more

If you stay in the area enough you know that there are really only two good hotels in the area. This one and the Fairfield inn Akron, south. Staff is really on it and the rooms although not the newest style are kept in good shape. A big plus is that it still has the traditional courtyard style restaurant versus the newer annoying cafe / over priced frozen food slapped on a tray. Rumor has it though Marriott is forcing them to take this out by fall. read more

Literally ruined our trip. Just wanted one night away so we could swim and use the hot tub as a family but our night ended up with us checking out. Groups showing up without masks and not being told to wear them and walking around barefoot in the lobby. The smell of marijuana was out of control on our floor and everywhere we went. A woman throwing up by the front entrance when we can back from dinner while a fire truck shows up. Alarms going off and no one at the front desk told us what was going on. We felt very unsafe. You decide who you want at your hotel: a group of people all over partying and destroying your business or good Marriott members who are loyal and value your property. read more

This hotel is a standard older Courtyard. It's near a lot of shopping areas. The front area has been renovated, there is a pantry area to buy snacks. There is no free breakfast, instead there is a grill where you can order a few items and they have Starbucks coffee. Parking is free. The room was clean, the a/c was a wall until, all rooms have fridges. The bathtub/shower combo was nice and clean. Beds were comfortable, although the duvet was a bit thin. Sink is outside of toilet and shower area. Overall okay, but nothing fantastic. read more

amazing friendly staff! i booked this room in the middle of a snowstorm because of the vicinity to the hospital i work at (live near an hour away) so i would be able to make it to work. with that said, i checked in in the midst of it all, front desk was super friendly, explained that i would be sleeping during the days and was set aside away from other guests! the next morning, the plow truck was just starting when i arrived back from work, (but i had a shovel in plan for this) but they were out working it was obvious that they had been... i helped someone out of their spot out of sight of the plow... and stole the spot with no snow in it where he had been parked lol.,, but when i came out that evening? my cat had been cleared out so i didn't have to brush off and dig out again... keep in mind, we are in a snowstorm. the front desk made sure my car was clear so i could get to work! the pantry store was still stocked well, the front desk was super helpful! (even trying to keep up with which restaurants were still open!) and the room was super clean! i will definitely be back if the need arises again! read more

Stayed here for three nights for a youth sports tournament. First, the positive. Staff was friendly. Hotel has been somewhat renovated. Very close to amenities such as stores, restaurants, Pro Football Hall of fame. Easy access to interstates and main roads. The negative: Room cleanliness was horrible. A solid layer of dust over all surfaces. Old coffee grounds left in coffee maker. Toothpaste/soap scum all over bathroom faucets. Bed linens were worn and cleanliness was questionable. Staff doesn't always wear masks, nor do they enforce it. Cleaning staff flat out refuses to wear masks, even when in guests rooms, therefore I wasn't going to bother asking them to come in and clean my room properly. Notifying the front desk of the lack of mask wearing by housekeeping yielded no change at all. Room refrigerator that's provided only cools/works in 2-hour increments. You literally have to press a button inside the fridge every two hours to keep it running. So it's pointless unless you want to wake up all night long to press the button. Air conditioning only has two functions: on and off. If the thermostat is set below 75, it will run non stop until it's frigid in the room. Set at 75 or above and it won't come on. So again, you have to continuously change the thermostat to regulate the room temp. Toilet barely worked, you had to flush it three times to get any solid waste to go down. The Breakfast is made to order cafe style. Employees don't wear gloves when preparing food. Even for a lower cost hotel, I would have expected it to be cleaner. Beware of the Pool and SPA. We stayed here during a business trip, the accommodations were arranged and paid for by our employer. We had a 5 week stay at this location during training. The rooms are decent, and the common areas cleaned. However, during our stay, I visited the hot tub. Upon entering the hot tub, I noticed that the water seemed hotter than normal. I had utilized the facility on several other occasions, however this time it was TOO HOT. After staying in the water for 5-10 minutes, I found that it became unbearable. Upon exiting, I noticed that the hair on my legs was rough and pilling up. I immediately took a shower in the room and then discovered that my lower extremities were extremely red and irritated. The next day I notified the front desk staff of my level or physical discomfort, and filled out an incident report. Later that night, I ended up visiting the local ER where it was determined that I had a severe chemical burn, and chemical urethritis (google it) from over-chlorination of the hot tub. It has been over a month since the injury occurred, and I have yet to be contacted by the hotel manager. This same location was chosen for us to stay during additional 2-week training. I opted to drive 60 miles each-way rather than stay at this hotel during my training. I am currently negotiating with my employer, so that they will choose a different location for future accommodations for their employees. read more

1 Star rating! Pool broken after called 2 weeks prior that it would be fixed, no attempt at a breakfast even with Covid situation, not even a fruit bag.. the outside is a mess! Shrubs all un-cut with smoking areas by all entrances! Inside the place was under construction and there was no alert or this upon booking. For this place to run the name of Courtyard Marriott should be absurd! Marriot should take the naming rights away to this hotel. Definitely do not recommend a stay at this hotel!! read more

From the second the van picked us up the staff was amazing. We were filled in on all the local hot spots by the driver. The front desk staff was kind and helpful. The rooms are clean and large. Breakfast was really good with eggs cooked to order and all for only $9ish. Great place to stay if your stuck in Canton. read more

Check in was a simple process. The room was modern complete with flat screen tv, fridge, nicely appointed bathroom, desk, wifi, etc. all that one comes to expect. Overall I like it so far. Located right off the interstate and near to shopping and restaurants. Clean rooms. The air controls in the room was a bit flakey. Nicely decorated lobby and common areas. Certainly better than most. The lady at the front desk was very accommodating. The room and common areas were very clean. They have a Great Lakes Brewery sponsored bar in the lobby that's open every day. The only complaint I had was the refrigerator in the room didn't work. We brought a cooler with us so it really didn't matter as much. I would definitely stay here again. Pay attention to the directions others have given. It's easy to miss. read more

We had a horrible experience at this hotel. Before traveling to canton be aware it's the crime capital of Ohio if not the US right now. We had our car broken into in marriotts parking lot and their first response was "not our responsibility". This hotel is located in a bad area and car thefts are common. Marriott has not installed cameras or done anything to protect their guests. read more

Why Matthew L. thought it appropriate to go down to the lobby at 12:30 for ice cream in his underwear is strange and I would be weary of that.
