Not bad but could be a lot better.
    Bill W.

They miss the little things which make an average hotel great. All in all, it was a very nice hotel. Rooms were comfortable and except of some kids running up and down the hallway the second night which stopped at bed time, very quite. Still there were a lot of little things that were not right and should have been on management radar to correct that slipped through that proved to be an irritant. First of all was the Wifi. When we checked in, they gave us the password needed to log on. First wifi that shows up is the Hilton Wifi which is the one you would expect. Connecting to it, there is no way to go to the log on screen and connect. Next day we found out from the first desk, that the Hilton Wifi did not work even though it is the first to show up. You had to go the the ATT Wifi and log in from there. No one told us and from conversations with other hotel guests, they were not told either. Second is housekeeping and this was my wife's pet peeve. When we checked in, the toilet paper was low but no problem because housekeeping would take care of it in the morning. Logical assumption but did not occur and had to go to the desk and ask for an additional roll of paper. Inconsistent on towels and wash cloths. Towels were replaced after the first day but wash cloths were not. Ice bucket was left with melted ice and not all of the trash cans were empted. Very inconsistent. All in all again, the room was comfortable and that is basically what you are looking for in a hotel room but could have been a nicer stay with a bit more attention to details and better communication from the staff.

In the lobby, there's a marble staircase that splits into two. It's not huge, but it's there. And I bet it's better than what you've got. And it descends into a really awesome restaurant that's built on top of the river rapids and waterfalls and nature, and it's fantastic. And they keep the lights down low, so it's very romantic. The food is awesome too. It's a little expensive but not bad for the experience. The actual hotel has a 60-foot lap pool. It's not deep but swimming laps isn't an honorable use of time anyway, so don't complain about it. It's great for kids. They've got a fitness center if you want to actually do some exercise, and the fitness center overlooks the pool. Two things here: they have a sauna but it's out of order. I suspect it's been out of order for a looooooong time. And then the hot tub is also pictured on the site, but is now covered over. But you know, I guess that's kind of alright, because when the hotel was built, those were things, but in 2026, maybe we don't need to be that close to other people's butt cheeks in a confined space. The rooms are nice. Not like, Vegas-nice, but definitely more than National-Park-nice. And if you get a room facing the falls, you also get the white noise of the waterfalls, which is pretty awesome - not to mention the view of the falls. The hotel, being built along the side of the river, has many different views of the falls, from the restaurant and the rooms, to the deck of the pool, the attached bar, and the walking-path under the road to the plaza to the north. You can take this either way, and it can be a fun place to base a family trip out of, or you could spend a romantic weekend here. Or you could have a conference here. A romantic one even. o_O Finally, the people here are SUPER professional and helpful. I honestly think they're TOO professional. I'm just a common man. I don't need too much fanciness. They treated me like I was the president. Not the current president, but a decent president, and I shouldn't be treated like that. I just need the keys and I can wander around like an idiot and figure things out. They made sure I knew everything I needed to know, and then you're immediately super comfortable. This is a great place. Sometimes bad things happen. You can't listen to these reviews that are like "THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE I FOUND A CANDY BAR ON THE GROUND" somebody just dropped it there. The entire world isn't constantly monitored for your mild inconveniences. You didn't die. Move past it.

At 430 I was told they could not get a hold of the provider. The woman at the front desk began to argue saying 'this is not my fault' 'I don't know who told you what' and 'you can go work in the M Club lounge where the lobby internet works'. I asked for a manager and was told there was none. I asked for a phone #, none, email she gave me. I asked the woman for her name and she said 'I don't have to tell you my name. I did email the manager and of course got no response. Then I see from older reviews that the internet is always an issue. The hotel is rundown and old. 2 pieces of equipment in the gym do not work. The outside stair entrance door does not lock. Meaning that anyone can access the guest room corridor in seconds.

I learned this when I drove with him on Monday. You need to hear this story: I called when I landed in CAK airport asking if the property could send the airport shuttle as it is advertised to have. I heard the hesitation in Deon's voice and as he told me that there was an issue, but if I could give him 5 minutes, he'd call me back. I told him there was a different Marriot nearby and not to worry, I'd simply go elsewhere. He said, "no, don't do that ... just 5 minutes, I'm going to figure this for you sir". Whatever. That's cool. He sounded like he wanted to help and that's surely worth 5 minutes of my time for his investment in my problem. When he called me back, he said "Mr. Bain, our shuttle isn't yet in-service and I don't have anyone available to work the front desk for another few minutes, but I called one of my other workers to cover for me and I'm coming in my personal car to pick you up. This is the kind of can-do attitude that I look for when hiring on my team and really refreshing as the US, once known for its customer service, has surely waned over the years. On the drive, he shared with me the new role he has at the property and about how he sees opportunity to institute better processes at this and the others under the management company's umbrella he might be offered in the future. Thinking about process improvement in a hotel chains is generally as exciting to me as looking at my parent's photos of an antique store they once visited, but he was glowing about the opportunity; so much so, that I actually felt excited with him. That attitude + aspiration is a winning formula. I have little doubt he'll have a region or a district under his purview in 2-5 years. Kudos Deon. (Shower was cold, though and it's pretty loud near the highway)

The fans don't work and you get steam trapped in the room, which leads to mildew in all the corners of the tub and peeling paint on the ceiling. The tubs have an anti-slip bottom that doesn't quite get clean and now looks permanently stained and dirty. The rest of the room is standard Hampton Inn. However, because of the fan issue in the bathroom, the room easily becomes humid. So, you need to run the AC and thus the room stays cold. Note that we had two rooms because the woman working hotel reception admitted her incompetence and said she didn't know how to out me in the larger room for the first night. We had the same bathroom fan issues in both rooms and in our daughter's room.
