Arrived around 2am from LAX struggling with about 200 pounds of luggage. The nicest guy working the front desk (Benson I think) helped me bring everything in, checked me in quickly, and made sure I had a ground floor room to make my life just a little bit easier. I found the Courtyard by Marriott to be a nice place . It was very near the airport so I chose this place for several reasons, one being it has a shuttle to and from the airport- however that being said, I decided to rent a car last minute and was disappointed that I had to pay $10 a day to park in an open parking lot. Wasn't happy about that. The other reason was because I'm familiar with Marriott hotels which for the most part very clean. When I arrived, I was an hour and a half early from the 3 pm check in time and was told if I wanted to check in at that very moment, it was gonna cost me an addl $30 .... Whaaaaa???? Good thing I rented a car. So because there is only a miniature Starbucks inside, I left for lunch and came back at 3pm to check in . Ughhh... Finally got up to the room and it was nice - just fine - nothing fantastic- just clean and spacious - however my lunch leftovers did not fit in the mini fridge- it was just a typical styrofoam square container that I actually had to turn on its side to fit in the mini fridge. Ughhh again . All in all, it was okay for my two day stay in Houston- Had my decision to rent a car not been last minute, I would have stayed a bit further out and found something less expensive, with no parking charges and perhaps a full restaurant.. live and learn. Ehh knocked one star because of the stains on the pillows on both the bed and couch and random hairs in the clean towels .. Besides that I liked the room!! I only spent a few hours here for a work trip but staff was incredibly polite!!! I couldn't figure out how to turn the heat on only the fan strength and cool air .. it wasn't worth bothering staff since I wasn't staying long. Even the cafe and cleaning staff was super polite. Everyone greeted you I loved it maybe it was southern hospitality.. I just would expect a cleaner shower and no stained pillows in any room for $100+ a night It's Conviently located next to the airport (less than or equal to 10 minutes). They have a shuttle that runs until 11PM it goes to the airport and Car rental area. Shuttle runs every 30 minutes. Apparently pre covid it was 24 hr with reservations. I dont recommend the Starbucks coffee tho read more

Check in no biggie but once I got to the 2nd floor, awful skunk weed smell. Entering my room 210, SMELLED EVEN WORSE! The was okay except for the mold along the bathtub and floor. They OBVIOUSLY DON'T want you to take a bath because it was like kid small. The restaurant bar had more fruit flies than customers. Saying all this I WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN ONLY FOR DERRICK the shuttle driver! I had a knee brace on and 4 bags to haul tothe airport check in, he took 2 and headed to the entry way. He took them all the way in for me...Derrick went beyond without me asking. SO YEAH I'd stay again if I knew Derrick was working other than that I'd go back to the Sheraton. read more

Pros: Friendly staff Nice gym with pull up bar and up to 50lb dumbbells Purified water bottle filling station Clean, comfortable room Snack bar for purchase offered, along with Starbucks café Reliable WIFI Very short drive to airport - about 10 minutes to and from. Cons: You can hear airplanes flying overhead. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper Food options in area are not great. You'll need to drive about 20 minutes north or south Very small fridge - hardly anything can fit in there, and no freezer compartment. Would've liked more space. Although the hotel is conveniently close to the airport, I wouldn't recommend a business stay here if you need to drive to downtown. It is about 1 hour away. All the good food options are a bit of a drive too. I would have to think twice about staying here again because the fridge was just too small, but everything else about the stay was nice. read more

I wanted soooo bad to give this place a 4 star. However, for reasons listed below you will see why I landed at a 3.5 star. I tend to rate hotels on 3 categories: Room (which includes how modern / updated), Service and Amenities. Room: This hotel is either newer or recently updated. The bed was great, large shower and plenty of in room conveniences like fridge, microwave and Kurig. The issues I had were the heating / cooling and water temp. The thermostat has one setting, auto. Meaning you can't switch it to heat or cool. Which can be a challenge with the typical weather in Houston. Second, the water just never got really hot. All the way up and you can stand right in it....this is tough if you love a nice hot shower in the am. Service: Everyone was very nice and polite. Only concern was that they told me a check in that they forgot to push out the mobile key. She did it after I arrived, which is fine. But if you're in a hurry and want to go straight to the room, this could be an issue. Amenities: Hotel is nice and has the Courtyard bistro. Food is good and you can survive without going out for food. Which is good because there is nothing near the airport to eat. The workout facilities are some of the best I've seen at a Courtyard. Plenty of cardio and even some dumbbells. Full disclosure, I will stay at this property again. The room issues are not huge and the property is nice. Plus, it is very close to IAH! read more

Check in was easy and the staff were personable and friendly. The hotel itself is just a couple of years old and is very close to the airport. Parking is free during your stay and you can pay for airport parking. There is a shuttle to the airport. The room was spacious and very clean and quiet. This is a brand new Courtyard hotel, close to the terminals and rental car center, gas stations and restaurants are all very close, quite convenient. There is dine-in service on site, they have new design of their lobby area, new seats and sofa, a neat outside swatting area to enjoy the weather when not too hot. Room is very modern designed as well, equipped with refrigerator and microwave, I feel super comfortable. Service is good, people are kind and always greet with smile. Tonight my family was DENIED service and unable to check in because the only employee working the front desk, Layla Wuttke, was drinking at the bar instead of doing her job. My dad booked us the room using his Bon Voy account like he has in the past. Knowing he wouldn't be present at check-in, we called ahead for a credit card authorization form. I went back and forth for a few minutes with the woman on the phone before she agreed to send the form to my dad. She said she'd send it right away. After 20 minutes, he hadn't received it and we were now sitting outside the hotel. I called again, to let her know we hadn't received the document. She informed me she had a long line of clients checking in and she'll get to it when she's done. I mentioned how she told me she would send it RIGHT AWAY, and if that wasn't the case to maybe clarify next time. We both were upset and the call ended. My husband went in to wait in line since we figured it would take a while. He was shocked to find her SITTING AT THE BAR drinking with a cop. When my husband asked her to please send the form she finally did, then he asked to speak to her manager... she said she is the manager. So he asked to speak to her supervisor. She said she is the supervisor. So he asked, if she owned the building because he wanted to speak to whoever her superior was. To which she replied she was denying us service and not allowing us to check in. read more

Perfect for Business Traveller The Courtyard Marriot at IAH is very clean, modern and well-priced hotel. I have stayed here twice already and its the only hotel I stay in when I fly out of Houston. The staff are awesome, the breakfast is top notch and the fitness center is great for a workout. This hotel is great for anyone but excellent for business travellers. The rooms are spacious, they have an absolutely fantastic work area with room for laptops, phones, etc. The room has USB and Outlets everywhere so you can plug in multiple devices. The room has a very nice couch with a side table that you can place a laptop or tablet on. Wifi is strong as I have stayed on different floors and had no problem connecting through a VPN. The gym has very modern equipment and you can get a great workout there. This is a great hotel, close to the airport with a shuttle service so you can drop off your rental car and get a ride to and from the airport. I will stay here again. read more

I was quoted $148 a night all fees and taxes included. When I got the bill it was $149 plus $25 in fees and taxes. I asked the manager for credit of the difference and he said I needed to show my quote. How can I show a Bonvoy quote from a past day???? Pretty understaffed but I guess that's to be expected in the Covid restart. They are next to the Springhill Suites and share a van. When we went to catch the 7:30 ride to the airport there were 2 vans at the Springhill that both got fully loaded and never came over to the Courtyard. So I double paid the fees and had to pay for a ride to the airport when it was to be included in the stay. read more

If you're tired from traveling and looking for a place to be comfortable and to call home for a night; the staff at this hotel will not be the welcome you are begging for. I have had several really pleasant stays here over the years. It's provided feeling of home when ur stranded after a long day of travels. I'm a non-rev (airline employee) traveler so I get bumped off lots of flights and just have to keep my chin up And make things work. Today was a rough travel day; which I'm used to. So 16 hrs into flying and getting bumped off flights I got a room here; went to the restaurant to get a steak and a beer and some snacks for movies in the room . The server said they couldn't serve alcohol at this hour while EVERYONE around me was getting served..... I confronted her (the server) about the observation and simply asked "did I do something to upset you?" She told me that I was making her uncomfortable and that management and security were on the way to remove me (which they did half way through my meal). After a really reassuring conversation w several witnesses I was validated that I wasn't acting inappropriately. I came to find (from my walk and talk with security) that because I looked disheveled from a long day of traveling she didn't want me in the restaurant.... Management and security were both extremely pleasant and professional; and I LOVE to see a company realize that the customer isn't always right: BUT, in this case they made a really hard day even harder by backing an employee who had no real reason to make a weary traveler even more Miserable. If being welcomed and comforted is what you expect of a hotel, this isn't the place for you anymore. read more

Called front desk only to be told that there was no shuttle after 11pm. Finally Uber there, door was lock. The girl at the front desk came to open it for me. Great pick of a hotel centrally located close as you can get to the airport without sleeping on the runway. Surprisingly quiet inside and slept soundfree. Nice parking lot out front without walking too far to the door as it was very cold and wet outside during my stay here. The front desk is welcoming, quick and efficient. The lobby very warm and inviting seating area with big screen television. Also a counter with food and drink items. All modern, clean and comfortable. The room was just as nice and they have toiletries by Paul Mitchell which us an upgrade. Numerous plugs in the bedside table and at the walled mounted television. This is the nicest hotel we've stayed at in a long time and we travel a lot for baseball. The front desk gal that checked us in was awesome! So nice and had amazing customer service... we experienced that a lot in Texas. The room we stayed in was on the first floor and very nice. Clean... so clean and with COVID we really appreciated that. It's modern and updated with new furniture and items like microwave and fridge. The bed was so comfy... omg I wish I could have taken that bed home with me! Plenty of towels in the bathroom and basic items like shampoo and conditioner. The bathroom was spotless, it was so nice to finally stay at a place that deep cleans the bathroom! The entire hotel smelled clean and I saw the staff cleaning every time I left the room. It's not the nicest part of Houston but I felt very safe and comfortable outside the hotel at night. The only complaint I have is the room above us had kids that I guess needed to jump up and down on the floor and it was so loud! And so rude... shame on the parents for allowing their kids to do this and the kids we're running up and down the hall and yelling. Well the manager did put a stop to it real quick. They didn't want to do that at first accusing us of bringing the ants in our room. How do we bring an infestation coming out from the outlets and walls from a bag of popcorn we bought from them? So now we sit in the lobby waiting for another room so that we can shower and clean up from all the bites. I just want to write the most sincere glowing review for the Courtyard Marriot at Houston Intercontinental Airport in Houston Texas. With all the news of how terrible the freeze was in Texas, and it was, this Hotel was a beacon of light for us on our vacation that turned south with three flight cancellations and nowhere to stay. It was the evening of February 16th, whereby we had just driven up from Corpus Christi , to try to find a place to stay near the airport in case of another flight change. We were supposed to be home in Denver by the 15th. We walked into just about every Hotel looking for availability even without power and pipe breaks and we seemed to be rudely dismissed. As a Hilton Honors member and with three reservations within the last few days with Hilton, of course we tried all of those Hotels looking for some help, or a warmer lobby to stay in at the very least. I can completely understand that the situation was stressful for all, including the Hotel employees. However, curtness, and dismissiveness seemed to be the trend and we were rejected immediately over and over again. We were beginning to believe that we would stay in our rental car overnight, which we still felt blessed about considering other people's situations were far worse. After cruising John F. Kennedy Blvd another time, this time around 11pm we noticed behind an all dark Marriot that had turned us down earlier, was a Courtyard Marriot off from the main drag. With complete hopelessness, we still stopped and ran in to ask if they had any rooms. Stephanie Castillo greeted my husband warmly and made the sincere effort in trying to determine if there was a single room left. Without power and computers to determine capacity, somehow with her own system she was able to find us a room! This woman was really on it and her heart was genuinely looking to help others during this exceptional time. Steven Laufman was also there to run up and open the room she believed was unoccupied and assist in confirming the availability. We felt like we were treated like family and I can't even begin to tell you how happy, grateful and relieved we were to run into this property and these exceptional employees. Truly this company is blessed to have them, they exemplified the best customer service, client care that I have ever seen in the hospitality industry, and I know this personally from working in my 20's at several 5 star properties. It really seemed as if they were fresh on their feet and ready to help in anyway they could. We happened to find out that their "shifts" with closed roads and power outages were going on something like 12-15 hours. I also wanted to recognize a gentleman by the name of Duan, who we met on the patio the next day. A real friendly, plain clothes man who was outside grilling up chicken and other meats on a coal grill in the absence of power. In talking to him we realized that he was the general manager cooking out for his stranded staff to make sure they ate well either on or off shift concerning the circumstances. It was amazing to see someone care so much about the people he worked with as well as the guests staying at the hotel! (I forgot to mention the night that we were given a room, the Hotel had arranged for boxes and boxes of pizzas to be available for their guests in their lobby, so we scored a room and DINNER!). I can't say enough about the hard work, friendly service, and overall pleasant atmosphere that we luckily found at this Marriot Courtyard. It was in stark contrast to the powerless, unaccommodating hotels we had stayed with the prior nights with another brand, (although we were still grateful for those too).
