We evacuated here from New Orleans for Hurricane Ida. After driving through stressful, heavy…read moretraffic and rain, I found very friendly front desk staff and an easy, quick check in process. I was there as a single woman with a dog and felt safe the entire time, even at night when I walked my dog. They were waiving the $75 dog fee for those of us evacuating, which was amazing and I was so thankful for that perk. Since the hurricane was stronger than expected, and noone in New Orleans had power, we had to extend our stay. I did this online through the app and accidentally picked the wrong type of room. The staff figured out a way to keep me in the same room, even though they were already fully booked for this room for these days. The room was terrific - I was in the Queen bed studio suite, which has a separate bedroom plus huge kitchen attached to a couch/TV room. The couch was a pullout. As some other reviewers have mentioned, there were clean dishes in the dishwasher upon arrival, but I didn't mind unloading and using them. A nice plus was the full sized refrigerator, which was a huge help given that I had to evacuate with my refrigerator/freezer food. I was very pleasantly surprised that the bed was actually comfortable! There is a sidewalk around the hotel and a clean dog area behind the hotel with dog bags furnished. Another huge plus are the FREE laundry facilities - my extended family stayed at a Marriott a few miles away, and it was $4 per washer or dryer load there. SO, bring your own laundry detergent and dryer sheets to easily use the laundry facilities (there is a laundry basket supplied in the room). There is a store area with items you can purchase in case you want a snack or have forgotten something. This includes complimentary coffee/Hot Water/tea/oatmeal packets. There is no breakfast served, but that was not a problem with a full kitchen in the room. The hotel is in town and surrounded by plenty of restaurants and shops. Room cleaning is currently only being provided once a week. I don't mind that, but if you do, this is not the place for you. There is a section near the front desk with complimentary books, games, and additional kitchen appliances that you might need. And of course, they have the usual area with a complimentary computer and printer. Bring your own coffee filters if you don't like hotel coffee.... I would definitely return to this hotel.

We pulled in found this place, brand new the girl,Dess at the front desk was so helpful and sweet. The rooms were so clean, everything brand new, beds wicked comfy. I would highly recommend this specific location to anyone traveling especially bringing student to university of Alabama. Super close to all restaurants, stores, shopping. Highly satisfied.

Two stars for the ultimate convenience hotel to the UA campus. That's where the perks…read moreunfortunately end. I will say it is the best option on campus. Maybe the only one though!!?? We stayed here for Bama Bound on 6-15-25 and again the next night. My wife suggested this place when we signed up for BB. I knew nothing of it except it was not new. I really only like new hotels these days. My concern was only justified upon arrival. I should have researched it beforehand but you live and continue to learn. It was built in 1987 and the last time it was remodeled was 2012. I just found that out right now and you are welcome! Here is an article excerpt on the remodel back in 2012: The 26-year-old hotel is undergoing a $1.65 million interior facelift designed to give it a fresh 21st-century look. That was 13 years ago and it shows in all areas and in every nook and cranny of this place. Old, tired, and slightly ewww.... That my best description. The rooms are decent sized. The bathrooms are like ones from the 80's, tiny. Here are few more lovelies we encountered. We didn't have any washcloths the first night. We only had decaf coffee in the room. The refrigerator was warm. The bathroom floors had pubes piled up in the corners. The carpets are stained. The bed creaked any time you moved. The thermostat with separate fan control was original to 1987 and it was either 90 or 55 degrees in the room. Every single light bulb in the room was a different Kelvin temperature. Our view outside from our window was of the unkept dumpster area. No free nasty breakfast either! No coffee area in the lobby to make up for the decaf bs. The front staff was tepid at best. Elevators are even sketchy. Will not stay again unless it's free. Then I need to weigh my options before making a final decision even then. With that said... it is in a good spot on the planet for parents of students hotel needs. It just needs to be gutted and replaced. '25 - 60/111

The room is nice and clean but the air conditioning unit is extremely loud and very distracting. The rooms are newly remodeled but the ac unit is still listening 8 track tapes in the 1970's. The bed is very lumpy but i slept very well after my 940 mile drive from Philadelphia... I also had a bad dream that my daughter was accepted to Alabama University, had a partial academic scholarship and decided to attend Bama against my advice. In the nightmare she pledged a sorority and was accepted to the top one. In my nightmare the sorority cost $4,500 a semester but included meals ... my daughter couldn't make many meals and I had a door dash bill for over $1,000 in a month... in the nightmare when my daughter would come home she would have to take a limo to the airport and each visit would cost around $1,000 in transportation... in the nightmare I had to drive to T Town many times moving her into the dorm , out of the dorm , into the hub and out of the hub into The Here and monthly rent at the Here was $1,600 ... at the end of the nightmare I added up what 4 years at UA cost and it was over $280,000 .... Fortunately when I awoke we moved her out of The Here and she graduates tomorrow with no debt and a major scholarship to a law school close to home...

Well.... It's not new, but it will certainly do!…read more I had not ever been to the Cottendale Supercharger before! It's in the parking lot of this hotel. What an excellent coincidence. C booked the room not knowing the Supercharger was back there chilling, just waiting to be handy. This may be where I stay when the Hotel Indigo is booked. It has FREE CHARGERS!!! Room was clean and well stocked. They allowed an upgrade for free even though we booked through Expedia. The staff were really nice. I got some cool Bama swag upon check in. There was only one meth head at breakfast, she was only asleep for a while before some paying guest complained. They have an outdoor pool. It's only four stories, so the elevators are fast. You know. Solid good time. Breakfast sucked, but most hotel breakfast does. They were out of pork sausage for a min, but when it came out it was actually really good. I don't partake in any of the breads, factory omelette, or the other limp items. Coffee machine in the lobby makes fresh coffee on demand that is pretty good. That's rad. They have a bunch of Bama themes around. It makes sense the whole town is the school I feel like. I'll probably return. There is a Waffle House my car will drive itself quickly to if I am in need of assistance.... and the chargers are in the parking lot. Sweet. '25 - 92/111

Title: Mother and Kids Left Stranded - Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more I booked a stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Tuscaloosa back in November 2025 after purchasing Morgan Wallen concert tickets as a Christmas gift for my kids. Knowing how quickly hotels fill up for big events, I made my reservation months in advance. After driving 3.5 hours from Memphis with two excited kids, I was shocked when the hotel had no record of my reservation at check-in. I showed my confirmation email and booking number--still nothing on their end. Thankfully, one incredibly kind staff member (I wish I had her name) stepped in and got us a room for the night. I am beyond grateful for her compassion and willingness to help in a stressful situation. The next morning, I spoke with the assistant manager, April Wilson, and the experience went downhill quickly. She claimed an email had been sent 4 days prior stating my reservation would be canceled if I didn't respond. I never received such an email--and to make matters more confusing, I had just received a confirmation message telling me to enjoy my stay. Instead of working toward a solution, I was met with a dismissive and unhelpful attitude. I was essentially told there was nothing they could do, leaving me and my two kids without a place to stay for the second night in a completely booked city. Because of this, I now have to attend a late-night concert and make a 3.5-hour drive back home around midnight with my children, which is both exhausting and unsafe. This review is twofold: * To the kind employee: Thank you for your compassion, professionalism, and for going above and beyond--even offering personal help. You made a terrible situation a little better, and it did not go unnoticed. * To management: This situation was mishandled. A confirmed reservation should not simply disappear, and guests--especially families--should never be left stranded with no support or solutions. I hope the hotel takes this seriously and improves both its reservation system and customer service approach so no other family experiences this.
