Clean, nice space for dogs, friendly staff, for the money great place! Would definitely stay again!!

I understand that not every hotel is a 5 star accommodation. I also understand that you typically get what you pay for. There are a wide range of hotels for many individual needs. You would normally choose to stay at a hotel based on those needs. You may only need a bed for the night, so other amenities might night matter. You may be staying a while so other things may be more important. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Nothing around it. All other businesses of any type are either an exit or two BEFORE, or an exit or two AFTER the exit where this place is. I can't decide if this hotel was built for visitors going to the automotive plant across the highway, so it doesn't get much business OR it was built thinking the plant would attract more businesses and it never did. Either way, there's nothing around. I work on the road and stay in hotels about 85% of the year. I stayed here because I was contacted at the automotive plant for a short while. I saw the mixed reviews but took the chance. I regretted my decision. It would have been worth the added drive to stay at a branded hotel at another exit. Over all the room served it's purpose. It was stayable. So it gets 2 stars. Not anymore though. The photos other Yelpers posted were pretty accurate. I'm sure rooms are hit and miss as to how bad. I only took pics of breakfast. With nothing else around for food options, the hotel's breakfast was my only choice. I even tried to take into account the whole COVID thing, while trying to wrap my head around their decision to make Hotpockets their breakfast. This was the icing on the cake for me. I had to put up a review. The idea that there may be others like me, staying here out of necessity, that may make a better decision based on my review. Save yourself fellow Yelpers! This was a decent hotel for the price. It's sort of run down but not too bad. I attempted to capture some photos to show the general state of disrepair. Other than things like the photos show, it was in pretty good shape. The hot and cold water on the sink was backwards. This is one example of something that wouldn't be permissible in some hotels (e.g. Fairfield or Hampton) but was a problem in this one. The breakfast available was: * Jimmy Dean frozen sausage biscuits (microwavable) * Fruit (Red Delicious apples, Granny Smith apples, and oranges) * Yogurt, black cherry * Instant oatmeal (good selection of 5 or 6 varieties) * Low-grade, individually wrapped muffins (3 kinds) * Orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice * Coffee The water temperature was nice, amenities in the room good (coffee maker, refrigerator, etc.), and heat/air conditioner worked well. There is nothing close by the hotel, which in a way was nice because of the seclusion. On the other hand, this means there's not a restaurant or store nearby if you need anything. We drove about 10 minutes north to a nearby town to get Mexican food for takeout at suppertime. It was delicious. read more

After driving all day we pulled up to this hotel for the night. The staff was friendly and nice. This hotel had everything that we needed to rest and hit the road the next day. Our room was clean the halls were quiet and the Wifi worked. Pet friendly and nice grass area in the back of the hotel for the dogs. read more

NASTY! We chose this place to ne close to a relative's house, but never again.  This was a nigntmare stay!   The room stank of cigarettes in our non-smoking room (received can of surface disinfectant when we complained), there were two small towels and hand towels for two adults, the room was not cleaned after 1st night of two night stay, rusty appliances, dingy-yellow linens, no extra blanket. Heat only ran for 3-4 hrs before stopping on a 38 degree low night, and apparent basketball game in room above.  Bed smelled.  They took full payment when we checked in so we had no choice but stay after we saw the condition of rhe room. read more

Rooms are huge, very clean, bed linens including the comforter are changed and fresh, dresser, a kitchenette, large flat screen Tv's with cable, coffee maker, iron, hair dryer, free wifi, laundry, work out room, pretty much everything you need! The free breakfast is a huge value, they even have flavored creamer for your coffee :) The hotel doesn't have a pool but we knew this before booking. The location is perfect for us personally because family is close. To the people complaining about the location.....this is the middle of Alabama not Disney. If you have small kids you will need to entertain them yourselves lol. We love this hotel and the staff!!! read more

Great hotel for the bare minimum If you are on a business trip or just passing through. Rooms were clean and hotel was quiet. Not much around if you are looking to eat out. Hotel staff was nice and as helpful as can be, cleaning staff hung out in the lobby a lot but other than that it was a pleasant experience. read more

I love this hotel; I've stayed here several times while traveling for work. Beds are nice, rooms are clean, the staff is super friendly and helpful and there's always fresh cookies baked. I jokingly said it would be nice to have a glass of milk so I could down all their cookies and someone showed up with a glass of milk. Nice! read more

Kind of in the middle of nowhere, but darned convenient if you've got business at the Mercedes plant across the interstate. Rooms are large and clean, furnished, perhaps, a bit on the spartan side. Beds are comfortable. Staff has been friendly on each visit. read more

Spotted this place from signs on the highway leaving Birmingham a couple years ago. My wife and I were amazed and pleased, and have stayed several times since. This hotel is privately owned, built by an investor to be close to the Mercedes-Benz plant opening nearby, and designed to be a home away from home for out-of-country executives. Wonderful beds, super-clean and large rooms and very reasonable rates compared to Birmingham or Tuscaloosa. It's about 5 minutes off the Interstate, and marvelous overnight halfway stop between The Atlantic Coast and North Central Texas. The ONE problem is that there are very few restaurants nearby that are open after 9 p.m. so pick up some carry-out before you check in. read more

The Hotel is very inconvenient to Travelers. It is in the middle of nowhere and takes about 15-20 mins to find somewhere to eat. I was unsatisfied. The only thing good about it, is the prepackaged foods for breakfast options. Will not ever come back to any Greystone Inn in my life. read more

We were really surprised how good this hotel was for the price we paid. Rooms were clean, bed was comfortable, & there were free breakfast included with our room. We were a little wary because of some of the reviews but we only needed a place to stay for the night and wanted cheap accommodations so we took the chance of staying here. We paid about $68 and we were really satisfied with our room and the service. If we pass by this area again, we will probably stay here again read more

Large clean room. Free basic breakfast but they served bloody Mary's and mimossa's!!!!! First time I've ever seen that. Nothing to complain about. We were lucky to get a room due to a last minute cancellation. Only downside was that we paid $109 for the night which I think was too much. Then again there was a football game in nearby Tuscaloosa and all the area hotels were booked so we were lucky to get a room. read more

Avoid this hotel. Management is poor and when trying to book reservations for a crew that was in the area we were told that they usually only take walk ins or reservations for only one night. This hotel has gotten a bit of a reputation from the locals also. read more

Large comfortable room. Only problem is this hotel is not close to gas stations or fast food. I drove 10 miles for both.

After seeing the billboards on I-20 I called them. They were very friendly and gave us a discount because I mentioned the billboard. When we got there and checked in, the lady offered us a banana, free bottled water or soda. The room was impressively large, very clean, beds are very comfortable. Their were complimentary crackers and bottles of water in the room. This place is defiantly worth driving a little further or stopping a little early to take advantage of. Nastiest place I've EVER stayed!!! Dirty bathroom, dirty walls, dirty peeling wallpaper in the hallways, nasty carpet in the room and hallways, bathroom tile grout had turned black...I could go on and on!!! You'd think being right there at the Mercedes Benz plant that they would update this hotel and make sure the rooms were thoroughly cleaned. Also please be aware that it is out in the middle of no where. read more

A gd nite stay....coming from NY this hotel was gd to stay in...The staff is very nice and helpful...The rm is nice with flat screen...yes this is off of exit 89 which there is nothing however if you go to the next exit 86 there is subways, waffle house and a gas station....for other restaurants you go to McFarland. ..This hotel offers complimentary bottle waters for you while you are there and I was there for 5dys 6/13/14-----6/18/14....would go back read more

I suppose it's about what you are looking for - be warned Greystone is literally just the hotel. If you want clean and livable hotel room, fine. But there is NOTHING else here; no restaurants, no shopping, no attractions. The hotel has NOTHING besides a decent room, WiFi, gymn, free breakfast, free cokes, and two laundry machines; no pool, no lawns, no view, no shopette, no one delivers to the hotel, no DVD rental, no paperback swap. So come prepared with your own food and entertainment. The WiFi saved us, at least until the power failed in a thunderstorm. read more
