I usually stay at Marriott-owned/operated places, as I've usually had great experiences at them. I was in town for a short visit, so stayed here for two nights. Upon arrival, there was no one at the counter, and it took about 5 minutes for someone to show up. But, I was greeted warmly and quickly checked in. The lobby was very nicely decorated, and clean. There was even a fireplace with seating. Very cozy. On getting to the room, it was nice a clean, and the bed was great. The only complaint was apparently the staff had not checked the mini refrigerator when cleaning as apparently a prior guest had leftovers still in it. Heck, I can toss that, no problem! Even though the hotel was near a busy road and train tracks were not terribly far away, in the room, you really couldn't hear much outside noise at all. Very nice. The hotel also had a little bistro which was nice. I had breakfast there the second morning, and the food was good and not really overpriced. They serve Starbucks coffees, so depending on your tastes that could be good or bad. I don't mind it. Overall, a pleasant stay. Checkout was smooth, with no issues. The hotel cancelled my reservation, did not notify my, then denied they cancelled it. Raven, the operations manager, implied that I cancelled it. Sure, the day before my daughter's last volleyball tournament. They said they could not help me. Bonvoy said it was cancelled by the hotel, but the hotel denied it and I had to scramble to find another room at the last minute. Do not trust these people. read more

Not what we've come to expect from Marriott! Snarky front desk clerk when we asked for early check-in at noon (didn't even ask our name or check to see if a room was available). Room needs updating- everything old - bedding, plumbing fixtures, etc. HUGE TV made no sense for this room, rendering the desk unusable. Needed replacement key in the evening from yet another unfriendly desk clerk. The area has deteriorated, with most hotels turning into "temporary housing" and restaurants gone. Upon arrival, the toilet didn't have the back cover on and I could see the chain for the handle broken off. We immediately informed the front desk who had someone go fix it. The handyman came up to us and said he would take a part to fix the toilet from another room. Note they told us several times the hotel was sold out that night, so if he took a part from another room, someone was getting a broken toilet. Fast forward a few hours, we went back into our room to find the chain reattached, but the back still off the toilet and the toilet not flushing. Again, we immediately went back out to the front desk and she said there was nothing she could do because the hotel was sold out. We had to stay in a room without a working toilet. On top of that, the pillows are literally throw pillow size. Very uncomfortable. The front desk staff never apologized for the situation. When we first walked in, they never smiled, welcomed us to the hotel, asked about our trip. It was poor hospitality at its finest. read more

I stayed a few nights here for a long weekend full of events in Syracuse. I had issues getting into my room with the original key. The staff member at the desk was so helpful-giving me a different room to let me into my room to change for an evening event. I did not take advantage of hotel amenities beyond the room and the free coffee in the lobby, but this hotel is very nice. No issues with cleanliness, and as I mentioned above, staff are very friendly! I would stay here, again. read more

This was a wonderful hotel. The room was small but clean and updated. Appeared to have new carpeting and new wallpaper. The front desk was polite but not overly friendly. The pool was open and available but did not look very inviting. The Whirlpool is currently broken, they are waiting for parts. There is a nice exercise room with 8 to 10 different machines in it. Hotel is right next to a Ruby Tuesday's. Breakfast is not free at the hotel but it is cooked to order. I would definitely stay here again. Very nice outdoor seating area. read more

Stayed at the a courtyard while visiting our daughter in Syracuse. The hotel is clean and the decor was very pretty. The room was clean but the bed was very hard and the pillows were flat. We complained to the front desk and she was gracious enough to move us to another room. Unfortunately, the bed was worse and the toilet got clogged. So gross! We called and a lady came to unclog it and the next time it was used it was clogged again. There were lot of young lady's from a softball league running around screaming and laughing in the hallway at 11pm, we had a long day of hiking and wanted to sleep. Overall not a bad stay but definitely not a Marriott I am used to staying at. read more

If this was my first exposure to Marriott, I would never be back. They are a horrible representation of the company and should be fired immediately. This was by far the worst stay I've had in a long time. We chose this hotel primarily because of the pool and hot tub, both of which were out of order when we arrived. We would have chosen one of the cheaper options in the area if we had known that would be the case. The desk staff was extremely rude when we asked about the pool and did not offer any options to remedy the situation except for cancelling our stay. I'm just glad we didn't have our kids with us because they would have been extremely disappointed and it would have likely ruined their vacation. Management should notify their guests that the facilities would be out of order during their stay and offer a discounted rate or the option to stay elsewhere, and if it is going to be a prolonged problem, they should not advertise the pool and spa. When we got to our room, one of the trash cans was full, there was no body wash or shampoo in the pump bottles provided in the shower, and a couple of the towels were stained and had hair on them. When I called down to the desk to ask if housekeeping could come up and take care of those issues, they said they would move us to a different room instead, which was nice, except it was all the way in the opposite end of the building. The air conditioner was extremely loud and difficult to regulate, and the whole building had a strange smell to it. Although I do not like their method of having a bistro instead of a continental breakfast, the bistro staff were lovely and the food was good. Still, I would expect more from a Marriott and will never be staying here again. Definitely not worth the money we spent. read more

Today my son went to check in at the Courtyard Carrier Circle in Syracuse. He has stayed their before as it is convenient to drive to Ft Drum for business from there. My employees, many who are under 21, stay at Courtyards up and down the East Coast, near military bases as we do defense work. The front desk person refused to check him in as he is under 21. There are no limits to check in on the Marriott Web Site. She refused to let him or me speak to her supervisor, nor would she let the Ambassador's desk, who called her on my behalf, speak to her manager. Instead she gave a third party website, reservations.com that says you have to be 21. But i guess they didn't enforce that rule last month. Crazy Hotel, Horrible management and training. I'm a Marriott guy, right? I collect the points, I spend the points. I love the acai bowl and a Starbucks coffee to start the day. I love the consistent look and feel of the Courtyard brand. But I have to pull a star for the overwhelming smell of sanitizer in the hallways. Upon inspection (because you have to wonder why), you find those bathroom misters high on the wall about every 10 feet or so. I wonder how bad it is without it... The other goes away for the awkward room layout with the TV off to the side of the bed. It gave me a crick in my neck. I'm adding a back because I absolutely love the restaurant next door. Stayed here overnight for a trip to Syracuse. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. I'd agree with Katherine T. that the place feels a bit dated and is in need of a retrofit/renovation. Pros: - Clean - Quiet (room was on the first floor) - HD flat panel TV (I did not watch, so don't know whether they offered HD channels) - Staff was friendly - Free Internet access in the room (via ethernet) Cons: - Lobby had that stale smell of some cleaning agent - like a perfumed carpet powder/odor remover was used - The phone in my room was not functioning properly. When one lifted the handset, there was a lot of static on the line. Sounded like a distant AM radio station - The breakfast buffet was rather bland and generic. Food was not very hot I'd stay here again. Hopefully they'll improve this place in the future. The hotels clustered together in this general area all look like they were built a long time ago! read more

Really nice suites Great personnel! Front end service tops.... Restaurants in close walking proximity- PERFECT We booked thru Hotwire and once again they screwed up the room but this hotel made it right. Nice suite for three adults. We loved this hotel as it is BUSINESS and ADULT orientated... has NO free breakfast and a much better alternative of the BEST hotel bar and bistro I've been to in years. I definitly would stay here again - so no shuttle to airport, no free newspaper in AM no free breakfast BUT the price was VERY good so you don't pay for stuff like this unless you want it extra. I really liked the upscale boutique and the lack of tons of kids running around the hotel and pool. Free computers in lobby. read more

This hotel is disgusting. My husband, myself and my 16 month old are staying one night for a medical appointment in the area. This choice was a last minute pick, I'm not the best at picking hotels anyway but this is gross. We walk in and there is immediately a large brown stain on the carpet. the hook latch wobbles on the wall (that's safe)... the bedding has stains, there are no outlet covers on some of the outlets, the furniture is busted up, the bathroom door knob lock is broken, the push lock is physically gone from the handle, the toilet paper roll holder comes right out of the wall, the toilet doesn't flush, and the bed is extremely uncomfortable and makes a ton of noise like we are on an air mattress, and there was trash in the trash can when we arrived to the room. I would have left and found something different if it weren't so late when we got in but I suffered through for one night. read more

Our flight to EWR was diverted to Syracuse due to severe thunderstorms around EWR. We decided to spend the night in Syracuse instead of taking a chance that the flight would eventually be canceled and we've had to spend the night at the airport. Nice clean rooms for a very fair price. The room has a nice sofa which is rate for this price range. I also like the Paul Mitchell bath products the hotel provides. Had a lovely stay at this location for a business trip this week. I can always count on Courtyard by Marriott to provide a consistently good experience. All of the staff members I came in contact with were very friendly. My room was clean and comfortable -- it's not one of the newer designs, so I did miss the beautiful, upgraded bathroom that you find in the updated locations...but alas, everything else was as expected and totally up to par with my usual experience. The only small, annoying thing was the placement of the TV. It was bolted down and partially blocked by a cabinet. A minor inconvenience, but drove me nuts when I came back from a long day in the field and wanted to veg out and watch TV. Especially because they had Netflix available -- HUGE PLUS! Overall, would definitely return to this location next time I'm in town for work. Thank you, Marriott! read more

I've been at this location twice for business. The first time was fine- the second time was horrific. My room smelled like mildew and there was a pubic hair on my toilet seat .. BED BUGS!!!!! Evidently had complaints 4-5 months ago According to the staff after I handed them one caught in the room before it scurried into the mattress with the rest of them. Upon further inspection of the bedding I found a couple dead ones. No transportation to or from the airport except for the taxis that are less than desirable with long wait times so order them at least an hour in advance. I got a follow up from the manager that reported that their exterminator found no trace of bugs so I guess the live one I handed to the staff and the dead ones didn't count. read more

Cold low pressure water They have that crappy new snack bar rather than the breakfast restaurant that was great. The stay was good. Dawn had things ready when we arrived. The staff came through in the end. My review stays a 3 not because of staff but this new model for courtyard that has demolished my interest in the brand. The bistro concept is lackluster for families on weekend stays, feels like an over priced cafeteria. Whoever decided to change the brand to this should be looking for work. As hotel owners, I would be mad at destroying the fri-sun market.....bad concept. Update: Tom the General Manager took a look at the situation and tried to remedy things. Once our visit is complete I will post a new rating encompassing the facility and the staff to give an overall score. I really appreciate Tom's attention to detail and management prowess to see a situation and be proactive in trying to resolve it. Thanks Tom. Prior: Had a trip planned but family emergency forced us to try to cancel or split the family over the holiday weekend. I am a platinum member with marriott and called to talk to the hotel to see what could be done since the rooms were prepaid. Awful experience with Becky Roma who was the manager. 2 stars, im not going to bother to stay at courtyards if i can help it. cons: no coffee, yup, the in room sucks and even their 'starbucks' is pretty shitty in the lobby and its not free, boo. my alarm clock didnt go off, i set both a and b alarms, yay! pros: tv has a timer. so there you go, i could care less about grass growing in the lobby, i want a clock that works, good free coffee in the morning (you know when you cant sleep well because you arent confident in the clock....) and a timer on my tv. im thinking of the other marriott brands going forward. read more

I recently stayed here for a wedding in Syracuse. The hotel was recently renovated, so it's really decked out now. The lobby has a lot of comfortable seating, making it easy to meet people. There's a large touchscreen information kiosk right by the check in desk with weather, news, and local attractions. The room was excellent. We had a king size bed and a pullout couch. It was large enough that we were comfortable lounging around during some downtime. The bed was excellent; I had two very good nights of sleep. One odd thing: the bed was facing the exterior wall of the room, so the headboard was closest to the door. I'm used to hotel rooms where the bed is up against a wall shared with another room. It was actually kind of cool. Bathroom was spacious, comfortable, with the vanity outside the toilet room. The towels were a little thin material-wise, but serviceable. We took advantage of the pool and hottub, which were both lovely. Didn't try out the workout room, but there is one. I don't find myself in Syracuse very often (well, basically never), but if I did, I would be happy to stay at the Courtyard again. read more

Carrier Circle is full of hotels, but I recently stayed at the Courtyard b/c I am a Marriott rewards member and the room rates were decent. This hotel is okay, it doesn't seem to have been renovated too recently, but it is clean and rather generic. They have a "restaurant" on-site per the website, but they only offer breakfast so there is no room service. However, there are a few restaurants a stone's throw away (Grimaldis, Justin's & Ruby Tuesdays) that you can walk in about 2 minutes. My biggest issue is that the gym is TINY. There are TWO treadmills, which always seem occupied. This hotel is fine and if you're working in Syracuse it is an easy 15 minute drive from downtown. read more

I normally stay in the Embassy Suites when in Syracuse but it was sold out so I opted to try here. I stayed at other Marriott's and was always pleased so I figured why not. First thing I wasn't impressed with was the bed. Not sure how to describe it but it was very bouncy. Anytime my husband or I would move, we'd wake each other up. Secondly, we were on the first floor with a patio. I tried all possible ways but could not get the door open. It was such a nice day and no one else was on their patios either so I assume we were all having the same issue. Is the patio just for show!? There were chairs out there. Oh and let us not forget the noise. I have stayed in a lot of hotels (I used to work for Hilton and travel a lot) but never had an issue quite like this. When ever someone was in the hall talking it sounded like they were in your room. We could here the conversation from the couple in the next room. We could even hear their coffer brewing. What were the walls made of? Cardboard!? On the plus side it was clean. read more

I was on the 3rd floor and the noise from the traffic the nearby freeway was horrific and kept me awake all night. Clean rooms, windows that open and a great common area outside by the pool. I am not a fan of east Syracuse but when work pulls me thru this is always where I stay. Why not four? The showers are not awesome, and the linens are rough. Best game in town read more

Not in the best area of town as it's right off the highway. The hotel is a basic Marriott and nothing to fancy or to write home about. I'm an elite platinum member and they gave me a room that was for a handicapped person. I felt horrible using the room in case someone truly needed it. There are several neighboring restaurants but it's in a sketchy area and felt uneasy going there alone late at night. Wish they had a room service option 24/7. They had literature in the rooms stating to watch out for sex trafficking which freaked me out even more!! I dont think I'll stay here again based on the location. read more

Overall a great hotel and great value. My family and I stayed there for one night while we moved between houses. The staff was fantastic and upgraded us a suite for no charge (one of the perks of being Platinum), which was a pleasant bonus. The room did not have working heat (I have the work luck with hotels and heat) and they promptly sent up the engineer tech. He was quite friendly and, though he could not get the heat working, he went out of his way to get us a free breakfast for the trouble. The kids loved the swimming pool and spa, which made the stay much more pleasant for all of us... kids+bored+hotel is a bad recipe, so thank god for a nice indoor pool! The rooms were clean and nice; outside of the heat not working in the winter, I would say it was perfect. I deducted a star for unfixable heat, although they did provide blankets and breakfast as comp. There were no more rooms to move to, which is way we stayed in the room. I really can't say enough how friendly the staff was from check in to the end of the stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. PS - has been recently renovated, so keep that in mind when reading reviews that call it dated. read more

My daughter and I were so excited to spend an epic girls' night here. Unfortunately, upon arriving, we learned that the pool was closing because someone had gotten sick next to the pool. The whole reason we booked this hotel was because of the hot tub and pool. The lobby was so inviting, with a fireplace roaring on the cold, rainy day we arrived.
