Three things really fast - 1. the hotel is clean and easy too access 2. The team is friendly and very helpful 3. Parking is amazing So we were in Tallahassee visiting family. We decided to stay at the Courtyard. It is a solid very good hotel. The rooms were well laid out. The pool area looked really nice but it was a bit cold for swimming. The restaurant open for dinner and breakfast was very good. Their breakfast flatbread was amazing! i have stayed in much nicer Marriotts and even better Courtyards but this one was a good place to rest! read more

Check in was easy after a long day of travel. The room was large. Nice balcony with a screened door and a view of a pool that we never used. Parking is $7. That was waived due to being a Marriott Bonvoy rewards member. Many of the parking spaces were filled with trucks for what looked like maintenance as the balconies were cover with sheets of white plastic. Don't expect any housekeeping. Our bed was never made. The trash cans in our room were never emptied. The towels were soaking wet on the floor from the leaky shower. Even the trash can outside was full with trash that spilled out to the sidewalk. It stayed that way our entire long weekend stay. I did report the issues in our room and they brought up folded white clean towels, but left the wet towels in the room. When I checked out I mentioned the issues to the clerks at the front desk, they said that Marriott and Hilton never clean the room until a consumer checks out. I recommended that they let the guest know that they do not provide housekeeping services, they said they assume that that all guests should know that already. Really?? Need coffee in the morning? They do supply a couple of pods for the coffee maker. Ours were never replenished. Want tea? Bring your own. So, if you are planning on coming to Tallahassee, I would stay where my brother recommends. Check out the Drury Inn, instead. It is so loud! There is a sports bar across the street that radiates noise. It was loud until 3am. The hairdryer didn't work and the bathroom light was out and needed to be changed. I would recommend staying somewhere else. read more

I stayed here one night on my way to my vacation house. I am very satisfied with my stay. We chose this location because it is pet friendly. The outside of the hotel is well kept and manicured. The parking lot appears safe. As you enter, it smells clean. The room was nice. The shower was nice. The room also smells clean. There was plenty of places to walk my dog. The hotel is close to restaurants and stores. We ran out last night and had dinner and bought some of the things we'll need for the week. I must say I was quite disappointed by this Marriott Hotel, a brand I usually enjoy. Finding the room was a bit difficult; the clerk did go out of his way to help me (thank you). The room doors are especially heavy and very difficult to open, from the outside and inside - I guess that's for safety, but ... My room was near the elevator and I found the walls to be almost paper thin - I could hear the elevator; I could hear people coming and going; I could hear people in other rooms. The location is convenient, but I'm not sure this will be my choice on my next visit. read more

This has been our go to hotel in Tallahassee when dropping my stepson off at FSU. The hotel is in a convenient location and is clean. There have been some minor issues (soap dispenser was empty), but service took care of everything quickly. With this being a college town, this is a high traffic hotel so you expect some challenges going in. All in all, this is a good choice in the area for a safe, clean stay. read more

I actually liked the property and the people what made me give them a 1 star the sheets on my bed were covered in makeup. I slept on one side on the bed so didn't pull the covers down. I've stayed here several times for this year's FSU's football season and have had some issues each time BUT the staff addressed those issues each time and worked very hard to improve on those. I'm not one who just complains, when a job is well done, I feel it's more important to recognize that. My stay this time was perfect, a "Marriott" experience. The staff could not have been more kind and accommodating and the room was spotless. It can't be easy to run a hotel with football fans, and probably many other collegiate sport athletes and fans checking in and out all the time but the management has worked hard to hit all the right notes to make the stay here a comfortable and relaxing one. The hotel is middle of the road experience. I stayed on an off night so price was good. Absolutely nothing was stand out. Check in went fast, I didn't use any of the amenities so can't review those. One big complaint, the shower had no soap, they use liquid type and it was empty so was the conditioner, the shampoo was two thirds empty. I had to use the tiny bar of soap they put out at the sink. Yes I know they would have brought more but I was trying to get back on the road in the morning and couldn't wait. Anyway if the price was the same I'd probably stay again. read more

This hotel is conveniently located to downtown, Florida A & M, Florida State, and less than 25 mins from the Tallahassee airport. Typical Courtyard expectations. Nice and professional staff. Quick food restaurant and drinks. Rooms are clean and large. Rooms come equip with a fridge and microwave. The room I got reminds me of a Renaissance Marriott. I was pleasantly surprised. If you are in the area for a hot minute, these rooms are super affordable and convenient. The only thing I would upgrade, is the televisions. The public areas could have been cleaner. The bathrooms were disgusting. The conference rooms were blasting cold air 2 days after the arctic blast hit the nation. Some people left an all day conference after just an hour even though the air was turned off immediately by the presenters in the morning. The room was mostly good. There was blood smeared in the wall wear the hand towels are next to the sink. That was disgusting. The shower and toilet and other areas were all visibly clean. Room could have used some dusting. Bed/mattress was comfortable, pillows were stiff. I woke up with my jaw hurting and a stiff neck. 3 of the 4 pillows were stiff, one was moderate, unfortunately I didn't get to use it. I prefer soft which there is usually 2 soft and 2 firm but, sadly, not in the room we stayed in. The bar guy the night we got there discouraged us from ordering anything(well before closing), so we went down the road to Walgreens and picked up a bottle of wine. Only had a glass each, but it did save some money. (Would rather have not had to get back out into the cold weather but...) It was cold because of the arctic blast that hit the nation, but there was a nice courtyard with a pool and corn hole, and lots of seating mixed between the lush greenery. Had it been warmer outside while we were staying there I would have utilized this space. read more

This is a room they gave to a titanium member, I can only imagine that it could have been worse. the hotel definitely has a run down vibe, and they said they are remodeling (although I didn't see any evidence of that while there). once I was able to force my sticky door open, I was hit in the face with the overpowering smell of mildew and too much air freshener. The floor of the bathroom was covered in hair, the shower wall broken in, and I never felt comfortable to walk in the room without shoes. the mattress was so old that it formed a valley to the side that made sleep impossible. the air conditioner did work most of the time, so there is that. read more

Nicely located. One of our rooms smelled of stale cigar smoke. The other had a used towel hanging in the bathroom. Staff was nice. Rooms were small but served their purpose. Overall, nothing to write home about but nothing to make me say I'd never stay there again. read more

I stayed for a few nights and was quite disappointed. There was no soap to wash your hands at the sink but I had some in my car from moving so I just used that. There were a total of 4 spiders in the room that I found most behind the tv. The tile in the bathroom was cracked and lifting from the wall on the side. The worst part was on the last night I found an old blood stain on the blanket. Definitely grossed me and I would have called to have it replaced but it was my last night there and was pretty late. Very thin walls as well could hear my neighbors dog barking for hours the first night. Other than that it's a place to sleep and you get what you pay for. read more

First I'd like to say that the hotel staff is fantastic especially under COVID conditions. The reason for the low rating is that this hotel is not up to Marriott standards. It seriously needs to be updated. The beds are awful, it's like staying at a cheap budget motel. While it is a Courtyard which is cheaper Marriott I still expect basic things. (I'm usually a platinum or at least a gold member every year. So I'd recommend the A Loft. Again the staff is some of the best, the owners need to invest. read more

Have never seen a person like Mrs.Mallory M McCartney, CHS - Operations manager- i was on the phone with her, She was so quick to make another reservation for me for January 5'2015 to come and see Inauguration - She was so quick, super fast. I cannot say more..We were on the phone. i was talking to her we would like to go Pensacola, she printed out a directions for me and asked the girl who checked me to deliver to me with my Name - She calls "Sri Rangaswamy" I am surprised.. These kind of gestures should not go unnoticed. Other girl Victoria -she went ahead and gave connection room 117 and 119 for mother-in-law and me -what a great beauty -since they forgot to get the accessible room earlier. These two rooms are amazing. We should thank her as well. These two girls make a difference. Other is the Engineer who works super quick-real handy man -quiet, honest, good person. All three personnel should be recognized. We stayed from December 24-27'2014 When we ask something they put together the mapquest for us. Very nice read more

The Courtyard Tallahassee Capital has seen much better days. The hotel appears to have recently undergone a remodel of the lobby. It is well-appointed and modern. They have a nice area for breakfast, coffee, and meals. There is also a sundry shop in case you forget something. Check-in was a breeze. The front desk agent that checked me in was very friendly and kind. She told me that the only had rooms on the first floor, which seemed odd to me, but after a 5 hour drive, I didn't really care much. She pointed me to my room and off I went. The hallways had a very odd smell. It smelled like fast food grease throughout the hotel. I got to my room and walked in. The room had a musty, moldy smell to it. It was a little worse than a typical hotel in Florida. My room had a small balcony (but it was on the first floor and faced a giant red bus and the parking lot). It wasn't exactly inviting. There was a king bed, a flat screen TV, a desk area, an old worn-out couch. The bathroom was small and not as clean as it should have been. There was a weird ring on the floor of the bathroom. The towels in this hotel are also very worn out. The bed was very comfortable, but I didn't feel that the sheets were as clean as they should have been based on previous stays with the Marriott chains. The sheets were wrinkly even though I'd never slept on the bed. The rooms have paper thin walls. I could hear my neighbors every word. Also, across the street is another hotel or some sort of business. I could hear every word of the loud annoying music they were playing. Obviously, the hotel can't control what happens across the street, but at all hours of the night, there are people running up and down the hallway, talking loudly and slamming doors. It was extremely disruptive and not conducive to sleeping. The bed is located directly in the path of the door, so every sound travels under the door and is very loud. Overall, this hotel needs a major facelift in the rooms. The front desk staff is friendly. The housekeepers seemed to hide and look away when you walk by and don't say good morning, which was odd since they made sure to write me a note with their name on it for tips during my stay. I have stayed here before, but I am pretty sure this will be the last time until the hotel actually upgrades the rooms. read more

After arriving at 9 p.m., the hotel informs me my room has been given away; the property is oversold. "But I've had a reservation along with four others, for over a month," I explain. "We're sorry about that sir, but we have no rooms available tonight...we've put you at our Aloft property downtown." "Can you shuttle me down there, please," I ask? "No sir, we don't provide shuttles." So I ask for an Uber. "No sir, we don't provide Uber, you'll have to call that yourself." Of course I'm frustrated; it's late, I have meetings with others who were able to enjoy their reservation, and all the while I'm interacting with a "super chill dude" telling me to "relax, it's no big thing, it's only 20 minutes away, and you'll love the property downtown" (I don't). His expression suggests he thinks the entire thing is funny, and he responds to my concern with "I understand you're frustrated, but brother, it's a first-world problem. Relax, you'll be very comfortable at the Aloft." I'm an SPG member, for whatever that may be worth. Note to self, Marriott in the south east isn't optimal. Avoid when possible (see my review of the "hipster" Aloft). read more

We thought this would be a great place to stop for the night after a 14 hour drive. We get there and the way the hotel is set up is HORRIBLE. One elevator on one side of the hotel and the rooms are all on the other side of the hotel so it is a long walk. Then I call down to see if breakfast is included and she can't give me that information and I need to contact the bistro in the morning. We then go to bed and had a great night sleep! The next morning my husband goes to take a shower while I am trying to find the extension for the bistro and nope no extension ugh. Then I hear a crash and my husband had slipped in the shower (there was no anti slip anything in the slippery tub) and BROKE his toe and sliced it in 2 places. So now his toe was dripping blood in the bathroom and his toe was swollen and starting to turn colors. Thank goodness I had a travel size first aide kit with me because I cleaned him up and taped his toes together for stability. When I went to check out I told the lady what happened and she said sorry and that was it. I am dumbfounded that they have nothing to keep people from slipping in a tub that is slippery. What if we were an elderly couple and my husband broke a hip? Now we are o our first family vacation and he can hardly walk and is having a hard time enjoying everything! Most of the plans we had now have to change because he can't walk very much. read more

I went up to Tallahassee to take my daughter on a college tour. I chose the Marriott because the price was good and the location is near the college I was visiting. Check in was easy and the lobby is modern looking and clean. There's a little lounge in the lobby but it was closed, could be because of covid. One thing I noticed is that this hotel is extremely dog friendly. Fur friends everywhere but the hotel looked clean and I wouldn't have known there were dogs unless I saw them. My room was nice. It was more like a suite. I was on the first floor, right by the pool and fitness center. I was excited about that but ended up not having time to use either. My little patio had a view to the courtyard and had chairs and a table for me to sit out there. My room had a refrigerator, microwave, a little kitchenette with coffee maker and cabinet space. My daughter and I had queen beds and the bedroom was seperate from the living room. The bathroom was clean and full of towels. I wish I was staying longer because I would've been very comfortable. Plus I like where the hotel is located. It's basically on this little rode that looks tucked away so if you decide to take the dog or yourself for a walk, it's a nice little trail. read more

Standard Courtyard hotel - with decently clean rooms. There was a small balcony attached on our upper floor room, but it was so tiny (three feet across, no exaggeration). Doors were not well insulated and we could hear everything in the hallway. Light came in through the sides as well (luckily the bed is far from the main door). We could also hear the tv from the room over with all doors closed :/. My biggest issue with their remodel is they are replacing breakfast bars with the "Bistro" which means overpriced breakfasts :/. Hotels with grab and go and/or continental breakfasts are the best. read more

Me, my mother, and my dog stopped here late one night and upon getting our keys, they didn't work. The front desk receptionist gave us the wrong directions of where we should park and even where our room was. After realizing that our keys were not working, I walked around to the front of the hotel and had to aggressively bang on the glass door just to get them to notice me standing there and let me in the hotel. Our room was clean but had a very musty odor to it. For over $200 a night, we expected a hotel breakfast. Well the hotel does not have that, it has a Starbucks with little breakfast goods you have to pay for. Since we were leaving at 8am I planned to get Starbucks and did not want to leave my little schnauzer in the room out of courtesy for literally everyone else. Yet when I walked to the LOBBY to get my coffee, the barista rudely told me that my dog was not allowed in the eating area, i understand the logic behind her statement but the tone she had and the fact that there was No one in the area just seemed really shitty. I was just trying to order coffee and leave. If they turned me away rudely for a pet that is allowed in the hotel, then they shouldn't allow pets. It's really irritating when your job is in customer service yet you don't know how to talk appropriately to customers. read more

I actually really enjoyed staying here. It was a quick in and out for a school trip. Check in for around 30 people (around 8 rooms) was relatively quick and easy, and we were all placed in one hallway, which I actually like. Block rooming is much easier on trips like this (and weddings) since you can just go down one room to borrow something or hang out with people. It annoys me to no end when hotels put blocks of people traveling together on different floors, across the hotel. Our rooms were pretty standard issue, with 2 queen beds and large desk, chair, dresser, etc. The rooms themselves were large. There is an option for room to room interconnecting doors if you have people in the room next door you know and want to chill out with and make a pseudo-suite. Not everywhere has this. I like that the bathrooms have the sink separate so that one person can get ready while another person showers. This is something that seems so simple yet not enough hotels do. Very often multiple people are traveling together (often multiple women) and this requires the dance of getting ready simultaneously. When there is one bathroom mirror in the same area as the shower, it greatly decreases the ability to beautify. Thankfully it was much easier to do so here. There was a good sized closet behind the bathroom sink, and a coffee pot with coffee that didn't taste like mud. I didn't feel like standing in a line 30 minutes long downstairs to overpay for drip coffee so this did the job in a pinch. I enjoyed our stay here. Very unhappy with hotel. The hotel is old, dated and dirty. Housekeeping was non-existent and room was never cleaned. We requested double beds, but we had only king for 3 adults. They charged several hundred on my credit card in order to protect against incidentals. I can't even imagine what incidentals they are referring to because there's nothing anyone would ever want to consume in these terrible outdated rooms. Despite the fact that they are a 2 star hotel, they charge 4 star rates. I could go on, but why bother. Find another option! read more

Only one Guest Services person checking in a line of customers. I didn't get a good first impression. Other staff members were in the vicinity, and eventually one stepped in to help. The room was clean and comfortable, as you would expect from a Marriott property. I tried using the in house computers to print off something from the internet. The computers were incredibly slow, and the printer wasn't connected. The staff said they just switched over to a new internet provider today. I think they need to switch back. The staff thanked me for reporting the problem but nothing was immediately done about it. Staff offered to print what I needed off the internet. Not good enough as far as I'm concerned. read more

NIcely renovated Courtyard, staff is well trained and friendly. My rating does not relate to the staff who was pleasant and accomodating.The property grounds are very nice, like most of Tallahassee, however the bulding itself is not up to par, althought built in 1987, has a much older feeling. Its recent renovation does brings it to the "Courtyard Standard", including the new "Bistro" and renovated rooms, but this renovation did just that, bring it to the minimum Courtyard Standards. The bathrooms are original and the "paper thin" walls as well. You can actually hear the people in the next room say "Good NIght", and with that, many other interactions. In the morning you can hear the maids outside to the point you want to give your opinion bout their gossip. If you are looking for a restful night, the beds will not help. Don't expect marriot bedding, furthermore the beds they sink into the middle, so if you are sleeping with somebody, both of you will end up in the obligated cudling position as you fall deep into the middle. This may not be that bad after all. The Bistro is nice however, it does close at 10 am for breakfast on weekends. Why do they do this? I have no idea, there IS business, people do not wake up at 6 am on Saturdays. I am sure the additional business they would get by, let's say, keeping it open till 12 for breakfast would pay for the staff and make a profit. Nothing worse than having a money making amenity closed. Now to be honest, at least there is a Bistro. Other 3 star hotels (yes... Courtyard is a 3 star hotel with a 5 star price), do not offer such a nice hot breakfast but that prepacked "continental" version. For the price one pays here I would first consider other more upscale hotels where you will get more bang for your buck... and a restfull night. read more

Someone mentioned the paper thin walls, and that's exactly what you get here. There were groups of people making a crazy amount of noise in our hallway until 12:30. I understand this is a college town (my alma mater) but some of us visit with small children and appreciate common courtesy. I had to step into the hallway last night and ask this group to please be quiet because the front desk would not help me. I am literally in bed right now (6:20am) because in the room next to me, the man is up with a coughing fit and I can hear every bit. The amenities seem nice, but I think I'll find a hotel with better insulation next time. It's a shame because we are Marriott elite members but we'll save our points for different cities. read more

UPDATE: the staff has been very helpful despite me having to ask for the outside music to be turned off in the evenings. I asked about it 2 nights in a row and they ended up crediting me 5000 points for the inconvenience. I also found out that there is a speaker right outside of my room! No wonder it was noisy. I added a star to the review for great customer service! I just stayed at the Courtyard in Tallahassee for a 3night business trip. I regularly stay with Marriott hotels, so I had a high level of expectation when coming here. But let's be honest, I have a high level of expectation at ANY hotel. I gave it 3 stars for the fact that it was clean, well-appointed & the staff was friendly. I could not give the other 2 stars because it is a very noisy hotel! If you or a member of your family are looking to go to bed early (and by early I mean prior to 10:30pm) than you may want to bring some earplugs. Oh wait, I almost forgot that Courtyard was so very nice as to leave me a sleep mask & earplugs on my pillow....hmm, it's all making sense now. Just to give you an idea, the hotel is shaped like a U with a pool/courtyard in the middle. There is a bistro/bar, which I am totally fine with & typically enjoy when traveling...but the music from the bistro is also out in the courtyard. Most of the rooms open up to the courtyard. Soooo as you can imagine, those rooms can hear the music quite loudly & clearly. I could hear the music over the tv and over the fan app on my phone. Awesome. After a longggg day at work, I just wanted to chill and hit the bed early so I can be ready for another long day tomorrow. Guess I'll be staying up till 10:30...again. The last star - that I could not give- was from the smell of the bistro. My room was on the first floor, around the corner & down the hall from the bistro. About 9pm on night #2 I started noticing a strong smell of food. It would come & go, getting stronger at times. Like burnt toast. I'm assuming from their made-to-order items? I really started to wonder if I was going to smell the next day like I spent the night in a restaurant. Fun times. Anyways, it wasn't the worst hotel ever...but not the best. I probably won't stay here again mainly because of the noise. I like music, bars, drinking and hanging out with friends just as much as the next girl....but this is a HOTEL. C'mon now. Keep the bar open late but the music should chill by 8pm. What about children that go to bed early? Or seniors? Or those of us that are here on business & have to be up early? Definitely off my list of hotels for future FSU visits. Newly renovated lobby is nice BUT the 32 year old hotel has never renovated the rooms....so the pictures online are deceiving. The rooms smelled like wet mildewed shower curtain. The bathrooms were dirty and there was mark on the bedsheets. The door we entered through was around back.... so not the safest place to go in and out of for a Marriot. Elevator area smelled like garbage. The hallway of our room smelled like marijuana all evening. Would not recommend this hotel- there are plenty others for FSU visitors. read more

Being near the capital/government center I would expect everything spotless, odorless, with nice warm welcoming atmosphere. Not here. The hotel smells funky, poor pluming, and nothing appears to be clean. I had to switch a room because my toilet over flooded. I found a big piece of someone's old clipped fingernail on my head board. It's a pretty good hotel. The location is great and you're right on Apalachee Parkway so you have easy access to the capitol, food, restaurants, etc. The staff is very courteous, attentive to your needs, and will help answer your questions to the best of their ability. I really like that all the rooms have a balcony! It's pretty nice to relax and just sit outside after a day of work. read more
