Stayed a night while we attended my nephews graduation from the Army. It's a quiet little area and we got a nice view of the river. We had a spacious 1 king bed room. There was a little coffee shop inside the hotel for our morning pick me up but not much for a quick bite for our kids. One odd thing was the plastic cover for the key fell off when the door shut the morning we left. Was able to put it right back on and mentioned it to the front desk. read more

GREAT VIEW AND NICE STAFF ======================== We stayed in room 208 in January 2022 and we liked everything about the hotel except a couple things as follows: 1) There is no daily housekeeping unless you stay there four days or more. This isn't a big deal, but there aren't enough places to hang wet towels. I have no problem making the bed. I had to hunt down housekeepers for fresh towels. 2) There is a little restaurant downstairs which is alright if you don't want to make your own coffee, but pass on the food. The only good thing about this hotel is the location, the employees, have it made, receiving a paycheck for doing absolutely nothing! Every employee working at Courtyard Marriott Phenix City have the best job in the United States. From manager to housekeeping, all they do is look at their phones, eat, walk around barefoot, and gossip about the mislead and deceived guests arriving or coming and going, their website is totally deceiving. The hotel lacks proper daily cleaning, there was a piece of sweet cake on the side of the boarding pass guest computer for three consecutive days. The pool was dirty, pool towels were stain and completely worn. Some of the bar menu items had expired dates on them. The outside grounds are well kept but, not the hotel rooms, the carpet stains were ridiculous, the iron board cover had stains and dirt, the room reeked of an animal and the community microwave was disgusting. I would never pay to stay there again. Choose another hotel. read more

Front desk and cafe staff are very friendly and helpful. Room was good size and cleaned properly every day. The pool looked nice but it was raining all week so did not use. The only two small issues - the walls are super thin and lavs are stacked so u hear everyone. WiFi though free is pretty slow. I was here on business-nice stay. read more

Loud music. Banging on walls and in room. Had to be moved to another room at 2am after second complaint. Up for work at 5:30. Ugh! It seems the person on duty did not want to knock on the door to tell the customers to quiet down, he moved us instead. I gave the review a 3 because it took a while for the person on duty to do anything. They heard the music but didn't address it. Didn't knock or call the other customers to tell them to please keep it down. We had to pack up and move. At least there was an available room! Other than that, beautiful hotel. Update: Came back after working a long day. Hotel key didn't work. Front desk was confused and said they only had another room available. I said but I left my belongings in the room this am when I left for work. She was even more confused. She left and came back with all my items on a cart. Apparently, I was "moved" to a different room but my information was not transferred! And there was no communication between the staff. Wow! So housekeeping cleaned the room and removed my luggage, concluding they were abandoned. The room was still available so I was able to use it for the night. Went into the "clean" room. And saw this. Opened soap. The same soap I used. But hold on... my belongings were removed because the room had to be "cleaned" since it was not assigned to anyone. Right?! The location of this Courtyard is right on the river. Go out the back door, cross a footbridge and you are in Columbus. It's about 1/5 mile to the main st of Columbus. We only stayed one night and after taking a shower before dinner, we asked for new towels, as we left the hotel. They were on the bed when we got back. The starbucks isn't open full time but the guy that was running it, was efficient. I'm sure that's not his regular job but he did great. read more

Rooms are clean and spacious. People were nice. No microwave in the room. No free breakfast. There is a pipe leaking in the hallway with trashcans to catch the water. Carpet is wet and smells. This was a port in the storm stay. Disappointed about no free breakfast. read more

Beautiful property and excellent staff. I was here with a group of ladies meeting up for a girls weekend. This was a perfect location. The River view was amazing and the poolside with the fire pit was so inviting and a great conversation area!!! Sunday morning breakfast was very nice in the bistro! They serve Starbucks products, including the food. What made breakfast amazing was the service given by Jushonda. She was observant and able to anticipate our needs. She is a great asset to this team. Rachel, Emily, and Arlington were instrumental in making our stay complete. They assisted in our check out process and made a potentially negative situation into a positive. There was also a gentleman with housekeeping that was so gracious in meeting our needs without complaints. Marriott should be proud of this location! We will be back! read more

For my travel to Columbus, I normally stay here at this establishment. It is such a new and trendy spot....and the fact that it is right on the River, makes it just that much more beautiful. The beds are so soft. The staff was very nice and were very attentive. The common areas were very clean. My last stay, my children were with me, and we took a moment to stop and just take in the riverfront. Such a pretty place. I'm a physician providing emergency coverage in the local hospital for the COVID-19 outbreak since mid-July. I've had numerous long stays in this hotel. I figured out very quickly that if the employees don't want to do something, they simply will NOT do it. I've had to BEG repeatedly for basic amenities (towels, sheets, functioning alarm clock, etc). Usually even asking up to 5 times, the requests are denied; and I just learn to do without. During a recent 16 night stay, I submitted a WRITTEN request to the front desk staff on day 8 to have new sheets delivered to my room. I didn't even ask that anyone change the sheets for me. The request was denied. I was so angry that I had to get up at 4am the next morning to wash my own sheets in the laundromat before my 13 hour shift. I complained in candid detail to the manager, Rachel LaMar, about this issue. I told her clearly that I intended to share my experience online if she did not make changes quickly. I told her that I am an exhausted healthcare worker, and this is unacceptable at a Marriott. She sent a note of generic insincere apologies along with 2 bottles of water, 2 cookies and some trivial amount of points added to my account. On day 12 of the 16 night stay, I submitted a WRITTEN request to the exact same front desk person for new towels to be sent to my room. Same story. Request denied. I washed my own towels at 4am the next morning in the laundromat. The manager did NOTHING to correct the glaring problem. It's OK to ask customers to use the same sheets and towels for 16 days at a Motel 6, but not at a Marriott!! Healthcare workers are EXHAUSTED, and I am furious that this cheap hotel has treated us this way. Why does Marriott allow its name to be used at this horrible hotel????? The hotel is fairly new and located immediately over the Georgia State line. The rooms are nicely updated from most Courtyards that are in desperate need of a remodel. However, the location is a run down area. If you seek to stay in the hotel, it is a good deal. As for items in walking distance, not much. read more

I'm sure it's nicer to not have a Buffett, but they can't get the volume of people through this tiny Starbucks in the lobby. The guy from the hotel is running the register and doesn't know where anything on the menu is. There are about 8 of us waiting on coffee, water, and some food. It's a joke. One person in the back is making all the food. Bring back the Buffett or staff up with trained people. read more

Stayed here for daughter's wedding. Stayed Friday and Saturday nights. Upon arrival there were 2 wash clothes and no other linens in the bathroom so we called the front desk. We were told to come get one. Yes. One! We were told the hotel was out of towels because people take them home. So my husband and I were to use one towel and the 2 washcloths The next morning we requested towels. Upon arriving back after the wedding there were no towels still. Again we called and were told housekeeping would be notified. 2 hours later no towels. Again we called and were told the towels were in the dryer. This was at 7pm At 11:00 pm we got towels. 31 hours after we checked into the hotel we got towels. Not EXTRA towels mind you. Just the basic towels needed for 2 people to shower with. Beautiful brand new hotel immediately across from Columbus, Georgia in Phenix City, Alabama. The neighborhood is not nice. Lots of dollar stores, pawn shops, vacant storefronts and random jaywalkers. I tried many routes, and can say with certainty that there is no route to this place that doesn't take you thru the hood. I hope this hotel is part of a greater improvement of this neighborhood as there was construction to the north and directly across the street. Staff were super friendly, so much so that a housekeeper even called me a sweetheart. Very kind. The room was modern, clean and comfortable. Liked the bedding and the decor. Didn't like the fluorescent lighting. Particularly above the bed as it kept flickering. It was annoying. Just give me a traditional desk lamp. In the bathroom there was no shortage of space. Great spacious bathroom counter and large shower. Huge negatives for low flow faucet and shower head. Especially with the faucet. Low flow faucets are fine for motels, but no guest has a legitimate expectation of not being able to thoroughly wash their hands in the hotel sink. This place had a really nice outdoor pool that overlooks the river and Columbus, Georgia. It's beautiful for a Courtyard. Plenty of parking. The guest room had free wifi as well as enhanced paid wifi, lobby printing for boarding passes and a lobby Starbucks-type cafe. This would be a five-star hotel if it were in a better area. read more

I travel and stay in hotels over 100 nights a year. This is a first. I arrive at the hotel and the front desk clerk informs me that the hotel is overbooked and they are sending me over to the Best Western on the other side of town about 20 minutes away. I was scheduled to be at the conference next door and booked at this Marriott for the convenience. I was floored! The front desk clerk also informed me that the manager was not on duty and indicated that she had tried to contact me. This was a lie. No one attempted to contact me: no email and no record of a call. I had a reservation that was made a month ago. My advice on this hotel? Make sure you confirm your reservation. read more

I stayed at this hotel a total of three weeks for work. The rooms are very spacious, but I had marks all over the walls. The first week, I had a broken ironing board and there was hair all over my bathroom floor. The second week, it rained all week. One day I came back from work and the floor was soaked. I called downstairs and told them my floor was soaked and my room smelled horrible, they offered to bring me some spray for the smell. The next week I stayed there and I had hair in the bathroom and 3 of my outlets didn't work. I also started itching while I was there,I went to the doctor the next week and I was informed that the hotel may use harsh detergents on their linens. The staff is super nice, but the hotel definitely needs maintenance and better housekeeping. read more

Somewhat expensive for this brand, but understandable given it's close proximity to the base, and the activities happening there this week. We will return next time our so. Is at Fort Benning. My son stayed here on a school trip. They were instructed to leave their luggage in a room that would be secure by the front desk. Two students had their laptops stolen (including my son), plus my son had his prescription glasses and AirPods stolen. Even with video proof of the incursions on their security cameras and police reports, they refuse to accept responsibility or replace the items. I would not stay at this property, upon reading other reviews I see crime is a problem here. read more

Although the surrounding area is still being built up, this is a very nice hotel. Located on the Alabama side of the Chattahoochee River, it has a nice view of the river, and the old warehouses on the Columbus side. It is located right next to the pedestrian bridge, so it is an easy walk to downtown Columbus. The hotel staff was friendly, and the hotel itself was very nice. The rooms were spacious and very modern, and a big plus was an ample amount of outlets for charging your devices. There is a small 'restaurant' in the lobby, serving breakfast in the morning and cocktails/beer/wine in the evening. We had breakfast there over multiple days and I was pleasantly surprised that the offerings were pretty good. On the upside they also serve Starbucks, so it was nice to grab a latte of your choosing to go with breakfast. We also enjoyed a cocktail on the patio one night. It is a spacious patio with a pool, and fire pits overlooking the river. Overall, the 'neighborhood' isn't anything special, but if I come back down for work, I would absolutely stay here again as the facility is very nice. read more

This is by far and away the best choice for lodging in the Columbus area. We have been traveling here intermittently for a year and have stayed in several other places. This one is clean, new and has a very friendly, helpful staff. We really liked the Bistro and its wonderful waitstaff. The only possible negatives are that it is a bit of a drive to Ft. Benning and the overall neighborhood is a little dicey. However that seems to be improving. And if you are new to the Ft. Benning area, be advised that ALL the neighborhoods close to the base are a little sketchy. read more
