Like more than a few families - we were here at 3 p.m. on the dot for check-in. The gal behind the counter suggested a specific location/room which we agreed with and... "that room isn't ready yet, just a few more minutes." She took my cell number and said she'd let us know when the room was ready and we decided to soak up the A/C in the front lobby for a bit. 3:30 p.m. and... nothing yet so we opted to hit the town to explore and when we got the text we would come back. 5 p.m. and... still no text but we circled back figuring the room must be good-to-go by now. A different lady behind the counter seemed to make it like it was on us for the delay/issue. (So not cool, let's be real.) The room? Clean. The bathroom? Clean. The beds and pillows? Comfy, all around. The TV? Kind of weird... sometimes the picture blacked out, sometimes it went haywire, sometimes it was a-okay for a spell. Okay, we can live with (all of) this. (Even if our 'view' was the parking lot and Target across yonder.) Later we decided to snoop around. Gym - clean with a few machines, a bench and plenty of dumbbells. The pool was chilly and ridiculously chlorinated. (You might think I'm exaggerating but the next day the black drawstring on my boardshorts were now brown from the amount of chemicals I was wading through. No joke.) The hot tub was... kind of warm. We hit the lobby-lounge later in the evening for drinks and they had a decent selection of beers (all "the classics") as well as Starbucks, water, soda, some snacks, the usual. Check-out the following morning was easy-peasy. I'm not against returning in the future but I do think we'd see what else is in the area first. read more

Amazing! Held my daughter's birthday party here and it was wonderful. Restaurant and Starbucks at the hotel, great breakfast and food you have to pay additional for but it was really nice and worth it. Everything has been updated, it's clean. Staff are friendly. Only a few things to be aware of that made this review/experience 4 stars and not 5.... 1) pool and hot tub have a lot of chlorine in them. If you have sensitive skin you'll just need to be aware and plan for that. Daughter broke out in hives afterwards but nothing a shower couldn't fix 2) hot tub was luke warm at 100 degrees but I actually loved this because our kids could enjoy without being too hot but for adults, I can see you wanting it a few degrees warmer 3) TV in our room wasn't a smart tv so we couldn't connect to Netflix so bring a fire stick with you. These are all pretty minimal things but wanted to mention for others. Again, staff were amazing. Location is perfect (across from Target) and we will absolutely come back. Time for an update! What I liked: - Good location for Hudson, Rhinebeck, Catskills, etc. - Well priced if you are looking to use free Marriott nights. Summer weekends are getting super booked, I'm guessing, due to weddings. - We are pretty sensitive to noises. We usually stay on the top (3rd) floor and won't after hearing a big foot upstairs while on the 2nd floor. If you are also sensitive to noises, I recommend only staying on the top floor and further from the elevator. Have faced the back and front and can't decide which is more quiet train-wise. We live in a metro area so the train doesn't bother us. When we had to switch rooms (we had two single night reservations), they told me the room numbers and I had the chance to check out their location, and move from one room to another, which was nice. - Felt clean. - The double queen rooms are way bigger than the single king. - Front desk is nice. What I didn't like: - The fridge in the room is not a fridge. It's a "cooler" whatever that means. Not sure if they have plans to renovate/improve this in the future but the front desk let me leave stuff in their fridge/freezer and it was very convenient. - The beds suck. We had to switch rooms the two nights we were there. They all sucked. The middle of the mattresses were sinking. - The pillows were also not comfortable. I had some neck pain after my stay. Overall it's an ok stay, not awful but we've never stayed at the Residence Inn next door and will try that, if possible, next time. read more

Clean spacious rooms, friendly staff, looks like a convenient location in the area next door to Target. There is a train in the area which is unavoidable; however the location of this hotel compared to others is situated well. Hotel was remodeled a year ago and it is noticed. Elevator is from original build so this takes a little while to move up and down the three floors. This is not a big issue but noticeable. No soundproofing. You hear the train almost every hour at night. Of course, cannot change the location of the hotel, but can improve soundproofing. I have traveled to many major cities all over the world and I know that it is possible to improve soundproofing. Elite benefits (platinum and higher) are a joke. Usually Courtyards give you a voucher for a plate and a drink. For 2 people, you will get 2 entrees and 2 drinks. Not at this hotel. Stayed here for Wifey's 30th high school class reunion. We were ok not here for a night so we didn't need anything too fancy...this Marriott seemed like a good fit as it was located fairly close to the location of the reunion. Room was priced decently, it was a nice and fairly spacious room, it could have been cleaner as there were rings left all over the room from beer bottles, bed was big but too soft for my liking and the shower had no pressure. The shower thing is a big deal for me...it's one of my hotel pet peeves. Food area was ok, but I prefer places with either a buffet or wait service and the breakfast options here just weren't spectacular. Overall it was a decent place with very nice front desk staff and a much better price that some of the other places we checked. read more

This Marriott mangled our reservation not once, but twice. The first one was lost, though we had the confirmation numbers. The second try resulted in a triple booking for one person, who had only requested one room - by phone. My room was set at 60 degrees. Is there anyone who enjoys that? It was so cold it hurt. I had the heat set at 90 degrees for two hours, which resulted in an increase of half a degree in temperature, due to the only slightly less cold air the fan continued to blow. Pro tip- want your room to be warmer? Just turn off that ineffective machine. Toilet flush was so loud, it drowned out all other sound. The switch for the bedside lamp is a long reach, so if you have mobility challenges, beware. The phone by my bed was dead. Very thankful there were no middle of the night emergencies to deal with. No complimentary waters in the room, which is definitely not due to the environment - based on the ridiculously wasteful AC. The mini-fridge, ironically, is only kind of cold. In the morning, we both discovered that we each had had to pile the blankets around ourselves to keep warm in our separate rooms. I've been warmer camping in the late fall, in Vermont. The Kingston Courtyard Marriott Bistro offers no direct phone number, no room service, a published lean menu with even less options in reality. They "proudly serve Starbucks," which is brewed exactly once per day, each morning. So, enjoy that burnt and bitter taste at check-in. They tout a "GF Friendly" menu, offer 3 sides, and zero bread - one of the most popular and easily obtainable options around. So easy to find, in fact, that I brought my own. Condiments come in tiny little packets. Not even a salt shaker on the table. No olive oil. The space was so cold, guests sitting at other tables were wearing hats and hoodies. The elevator was the only warm space. The room was clean - which is why this is a two-star, and not a one-star, review. Kingston Courtyard Marriott, feel free to respond, here. But only if it's free of platitudes, empty apologies, or reassurances that you'll be looking into this. read more

I stayed at this Courtyard for one night. I checked in around 5:00 pm. I waited at the front desk for a few minutes while the manager on duty tersely advised the phone callers that he would cancel their reservation but still charge them per their cancelation policy. Apparently, a recent snowstorm event had left some area residents without power - and many made hotel reservations Then, as the power started coming back on, folks called to cancel. Marriott decided they needed to charge all of these people - due to their "policy." Which is fine, I get it. Or you could choose to make an exception in such a case as this - with so many locals dealing with no power issues. A little thoughtfulness goes a long way Marriott. And to top it off, the guy on the phone was pretty rude. So after listening to all of this, the manager gets off the phone and checks me in. He informs me that I am the "Guest of the Day" and points out my name on a sign and hands me an envelope with a letter thanking me for being a Marriott customer, along with a package of cookies I will never eat due to my low carb lifestyle. I get up to the room and check things out. The room is clean and comfortable. I deposit my stuff and head out for dinner. Upon my return, I head over to the bar in the lobby area and look over the adult beverage options. I have to wait approx. 10 minutes for someone to show up to take my order. Finally someone shows up. He does not greet me, he just stands there looking at me, so I decide to be friendly and pro-active and greet him and take the high road. He just looks at me. Terrible customer service. And on top of all this, his work apron is absolutely filthy. You'd think the hotel would provide their staff with clean aprons to change into. I ordered an IPA and took it over to the lounge area by the fireplace and HD TV to watch some college football. I watched The Commonwealth Cup on ESPN HD: Virginia vs. Virginia Tech. After drinking the Ale, I went back and ordered a Bloody Mary. I was served the drink in a tiny glass. Bloody Mary's should be served in either a tall highball glass or a pint glass. This was neither. It was as if they wanted to reduce the amount of product they give you while charging you a premium for the drink. One the plus side, my room was clean and comfortable. One odd thing was the way the TV was positioned next to the closet, if you wanted to watch TV while laying in bed, the left side of the TV screen is partially obscured when you angle to TV so that you can see it from the bed. Someone did not do a good job of planning and laying out the room. If not for the service issues, I would have rated my experience here as 4 stars. As an aside, I never heard any train noise and slept soundly through the night. read more

I used to stay here all the time when I was in the area for business. It was always OK - nothing spectacular - typical courtyard experience. They have since re-designed and updated the hotel - which is very nice. It definitely feels newer in the lobby and the cafe/bar area is upgraded as well. The rooms were also improved - new carpet, different furniture - overall pretty clean. There are still some funny quirks about courtyards in general - this one made me giggle when I noticed that the tub in the bathroom didn't quite line up with the surrounding finishings. I should have taken a picture, but it's just a "schlocky" feeling....like someone screwed the pooch on the measurements and said, "whatever". The staff there are uber-friendly and very young. Big smiles and greetings as you enter and exit. My only issue was that my keys didn't work when I got to my room. Oops. The housekeeping staff was down the hall and offered to let me in (and then I could get my keys swapped out later) - but I decided to take care of it right away. (Big shout out to the housekeeping staff - one of the two that I talked to cracked me up...she was hysterical). Overall, a good place to stay in this area. They're building another Marriott property right across the street - a Residence Inn...so clearly they're doing something right. read more

We had an excellent stay here when we booked this hotel last minute due to our AirBnB cancelling on us. The rooms, common area, and elevators were very clean and sanitized. The staff made us feel very welcome. Susie L. and the other woman who worked Saturday night were both extremely friendly and went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay. They also hooked us up with breakfast, which was very kind of them. They also helped us plan a reservation slot for us to use the pool and hot tub. Amazing service! The only issue we had was the living room area in our suite being very cold. We tried to adjust the temperature but it did not work. The thermostat in the bedroom was working perfectly, so it did not bother us that much. Will definitely be visiting again soon! read more

Being a platinum rewards member I frequent Marriott hotels quite often. This hotel does loose points on a couple key things though. On one stay housekeeping mysteriously could not find a few of my personal items only an hour after checking out. And on my current stay I was woke up by housekeeping BEFORE 9am even with my do not disturb sign on the door!! read more

Not the best Courtyard I've been to, that's for sure. We walked up to our room, the door was open, and the refrigerator had leaked all over the floor. There was a towel inside it, as if they were trying to dry it out, but it continued to leak and no one ever came back to repair it. Second, the hairdryer did not work. Yes, we checked at different outlets, and also made sure that the external fuse was reset. Trust me, it was a broken hairdryer. So we have a wet floor, a non-working refrigerator, and a broken hairdryer. Not the best management of a Courtyard by Marriott that I've seen. The trains come by all hours of the night, blowing their horns and waking me up every time. I've never had that happen before. In addition, they sent me a check out notice in the middle of my stay, at which point I called the front desk. The front desk person couldn't help me, and had to get a manager to call me back. The manager swore that I had no reservation for the next night, and that they were sold out. Obviously this made me very nervous, and I knew that we had had another reservation for additional night. Ultimately, they found it under a misspelled name. However, she accused me of not having a reservation and wanted us out - until she realized her mistake. A bit rude, especially to a platinum member. On the positive side, the air-conditioning blows very cold, which is a prerequisite for me to get any sleep. The bed was also comfortable, and the furnishings pretty darn hip for a place like this. Still, management and housekeeping have to do a better job of keeping their rooms in top-notch condition. read more

Great location found basically in the parking lot of the mall. I've stayed here quite a few times over the course of two weeks staying in various rooms throughout the hotel. I Suggest you ask for a high floor room on the front side of the hotel or you'll hear the train as it goes by. The rooms are nice and well kept. Very new, much nicer design than most Courtyards. - The staff was VERY nice, especially the two wonderful ladies that work at the Cafe during breakfast time. Very sweet; went above and beyond. Everything would have been great if I didn't need to sleep. I'm not a light sleeper but when a train goes by your (obviously not sound-proofed) window, blowing it's horn several times each hour....by 5:00 a.m. you are going to lose your mind. No mask enforcement of any kind. People walking in and around lobby without masks while reception greets them all. Large groups hanging out in the lobby with zero regard for restrictions. We planned a last minute getaway to Rhinebeck from NYC and as a result all of the popular B&Bs were booked up and/or way too expensive. We first went to the the Holiday Inn after having seen some decent reviews on a travel site, but when we got there we quickly realized it was not going to work. Gross. Old. Didn't feel clean etc. So we bailed on that hotel and came over to the Courtyard which was a vast improvement. The rooms was spacious and clean and everything felt new. The staff was nice and accommodating as well. And the drive into Rhinebeck from Kingston was easy since the hotel is so close to the bridge (only takes about 20 min to get there). All in all, if you're looking to save a little money on your weekend away and/or don't want to stay in a B&B, then the Courtyard is definitely a viable option. read more

I'm giving this hotel 3 instead of 4 because it is not soundproofed enough to lessen the noise of the freight trains which are about four city blocks away. We should have been given a room in the front of the hotel, not the back as I don't think they're half full if that. I'll know for next time. There will be a next time as the room was very nice for the price. The furnishings are cleverly designed for the room and comfortable as well. I would have liked a magnifying mirror in the bathroom. We were greeted at the desk by a zealous clerk with excellent customer skills. He made a good impression. There was a nice fire going in the fireplace and the lobby/bar area was spacious and appealing. There are plenty of easily accessible outlets into which one can plug electronics. read more

Staff exceeded our expectations! A friend and I came for an Omega event and the accommodations at the Courtyard Marriott were just what we needed to make the event perfect. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming after our long drive and oriented us to the hotel on our arrival. The moment we entered the room, we were ooh-ing and ahh-ing about its lovely decor, thoughtful appointments and generous size. The Bistro filled the bill for drinks the first night, breakfast the next day (real oatmeal with all the fixin's!), and the hostess made us grilled-cheese-and-tomato sandwiches by request that night - perfect. The last night we had a wonderful soak in the hot tub and plunge in the pool, so relaxing.  Everything was beautiful and clean. And everyone was warm and friendly. We hope to return next year! This hotel is a wonderful ambassador for the Marriott brand. read more

I stayed here because there's no decent hotel in the town across the Hudson where my son's college, Bard, is located. It's located between a Walmart and a Target and it's standard Courtyard fare. The staff, particularly the female night clerk, was extremely friendly. She decorated my check-in envelope with some colored markers and it put me in a great mood before I ever got to my room. The room looked new (or at least recently renovated). I have to admit that I don't like the rooms that have the closet in the main part of the room (combined with the desk). Based on where the closet is, the TV is at an extreme angle to the bed. The hotel has a cafe in the lobby and the ground floor also has a fitness center (slightly smaller than the normal 3 machine room), a hot tub, and a heated pool. I enjoyed working out one of the two treadmills then going 15' to the hot tub to soak. My experience was interrupted by 2 really drunk guys coming in to drink glass bottles (yes, glass bottles) of Bud Light in the pool. They were actually doing cannonballs into the pool while cranking loud music. Since I was reading a book in the hot tub when they came in, I was decidely annoyed. I went to tell the front desk and they said, and I quote "the guys drinking Bud Light? They've been guests here for 6 months." What kind of hotel has 6 month guests? I will give the front desk lady credit for going in to tell them to be quiet, but my night was done by this point. So all-in-all, decent Courtyard with decent rates and nice staff. It's probably the best the Kingston area has to offer in a chain hotel, but because of the pool craziness, 3 stars is my max. read more

This hotel is run like a 5 star property! Front desk staff go the extra mile upon check in. Bistro staff member was very professional and clearly takes pride in his service. Enjoyed a delicious Asian chicken salad and a nice glass glass of chardonnay. The rooms are new and clean! Location is in parking lot right next to target - not sexy but convenient. Unfortunately I have to give this hotel a 2 star. I woke up with the hopes of a complementary breakfast considering that I am paying 200 dollars a night. But the courtyard pulled a fast one and decided to make people pay for there breakfast. Across the street the residence inn has complementary breakfast I'll make sure next time I'm up here I stay there. Such a shame I was going to give this hotel 2 stars but I have to take it down to 1 now. I asked the person at the front desk to change sheets didn't even want them to clean it. I told him I know he was short on staff because one of the cleaners told me. I said I'm leaving til this evening if he could please just throw new sheets in the room. But unfortunately I guess that was to much to ask for. I'm paying 200.00 a night the least that you could have done was throw clean sheets in the room, and complimentary breakfast. Don't tell me not a problem and then don't do it. read more

This is one of the best Courtyard Marriotts I have stayed at. We stayed one night just for a quick getaway upstate and were not disappointed with our choice to stay here. The fact that people complained in some other reviews about the service here is baffling to me. I found every single person we encountered (front desk, bistro, housekeeping) to be exceedingly friendly and go out of their way to help us or make sure that we had whatever we needed. I have traveled a lot for work and found the staff here to be the most attentive and friendly of anywhere I've ever been. They genuinely wanted to make our stay the best it could possibly be. The hotel itself was very nice and updated. The rooms were clean and spacious and we liked the bistro. We got some drinks there on Saturday night and then breakfast the next morning. It was quick and easy! We would definitely stay here again! read more
