It's close to Texas Tech University, so I'm assuming they get full during football games. The negatives: this is one of the most rundown Courtyard rooms I've ever stayed in. Not sure what happened to the loveseat. It looks like it was attacked by a mountain lion. Our room faced the freeway so there is constant traffic noise and the neighborhood seems a bit sketchy. Stayed here for one night. Stay was ok. Just fine, but nothing special or out of the ordinary. Staff were very pleasant, nice and had no issues with room reservation. Room and bed was adequate and clean, just really outdated room. Otherwise fine. Not too many vegetarian food options on hotel menu, but hubby did order the Caesar Salad entree. I have stayed at this location at least four times over the last five years. Each stay is worse than the previous and my most recent stay in early June 2023 was the worst. Very spotty service, the facility is "tired" and needs to be refreshed, the ACs don't adequately cool the room (a big deal in Texas) and, most importantly, they do not offer daily maid service. Once I made this last point to the management, I was brushed off and offered an extra roll of toilet paper. For the daily price paid - over $140 a night - daily maid service should be a given. After my stay I contacted the GM and he apologized profusely and stated that their policy is to do maid service every two days - that would have been nice to know, but was never communicated. He went on to state that he would be adding extra Bonvoy points into my account - "will take a few days". That was five weeks ago. I have followed up with emails and voicemails and nothing. He has not followed through - very disappointing. We won't be staying here again and we visit TTU regularly - also rethinking Marriott as a whole, as we prefer communication and good service for our hard earned money. Very close to Texas Tech, located across the highway but in a residential neighborhood so not walkable to restaurants. It's your typical Courtyard with the Bistro restaurant. Rooms are clean, updated with USB plugs at the desk and nightstand. Bathroom is also very modern with newer fixtures. Room has microwave and refrigerator. read more

This is one of the newer hotels in Lubbock. Its a few blocks walking distance from the stadium. The front desk staff isn't very friendly or helpful. They'll actually ignore you unless you address them directly and specifically ask a question. The cafe staff however is incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are very very tiny. I was a bit surprised with the amount we were paying that the rooms would be almost the size of a college dorm. The beds are also pretty uncomfortable. They are rock hard and have a plastic layer over them (mattress protector) that makes this horribly loud crinkling noise when you move around. The walls are paper thin so you're able to hear your neighbors talking. There's plenty of parking available out front. Make sure to get a parking pass for your car noting that you are a hotel guest, otherwise your car will be towed. Overall this was an ok place. If you have kids they have a beautiful pool. Prices run pretty high during football season. I would probably stay here out of convince of the stadium but it's definitely not my choice for comfort. read more

Not in downtown, nor is it in comfortable walking distance of downtown. A 5-10 minute walk away from chic-fil-a and Panda Express. Sadly two of the finest and most consistent meals you'll get here in town. The lobby and gym are clean. Staff courteous and helpful. Rooms are "roomy" and simplistic in decor. There is a bunch of natural light a plus for me in hotels. In an area on the leading edge of gentrification, not dangerous but surroundings housing is pretty ugly. No bed bugs, so a definite place of consideration if you are sentenced to be in Lubbock overnight. read more

I arrived at the hotel about 12:45 PM. A room wasn't ready, which I totally understand. I worked in the lobby. The person at the front desk said she would let me know when something was available. At 2:17 PM, I was informed that a room was available, but there would be a $25 early check-in fee. Check-in is at 3 PM. I understand they are under no obligation to allow customers into rooms early. It just seems petty and not very customer friendly. I have stayed in a few Marriotts and they have all been very accommodating with early check-ins, if something is ready. The woman said the owner of this hotel is "very strict" about the early check-in fee. So heads up in case you plan to arrive early. read more

For a Courtyard, this is pretty swanky. New rooms, beds, couches and desks, and the bathrooms are so modern I was surprised I was in a Marriott (almost felt like a big city Kimpton). Very attentive and helpful staff day or night, and the other amenities (pool and fitness center) easily surpassed expectations. This is a great model for how small to midsize market Marriotts should be built and operated. It will definitely be my first choice for lodging if business brings me back to Lubbock. read more

Accommodations: We stayed on our way through town during COVID. Lots of measures in place to protect guests. Rooms were clean and staff friendly. Location: Unfortunately our car was broken into during the night. Front desk staff saw it happen on video and called police right away. After police arrived we were notified and asked to come down. Police seemed to be not surprised and were even familiar with a stray cat hanging around the parking lot. Don't leave valuables in your car! Cheaply put together hotel. The floor in our room slanted not only in the bedroom but the bathroom as well. Pool was extremely dirty that even my 7 year old who loves to swim didn't want to get in. Got back to our room to find a party with DJ going on right below our room. When I asked front desk how long they were going to allow the music they stated 11:30 PM. This is ridiculous but they agreed to move us to the top floor but moving rooms is a big inconvenience. Upon checkout we had charged for food when we never even went to the restaurant and had to get that removed from our bill. Easily my worst Marriott experience. read more

I have stayed at this location many times over the last year. I visit the area every three weeks on business. Over the course of my travels staying exclusively at Marriott locations I became part of their Elite club. I say this to give background to my current experience. From an aesthetic perspective it is a nice/new hotel. It is in great proximity to the stadium and general college area. I have no complaints about the hotel itself. The problem with this hotel lies within it's management. I had an extended trip planned in the area which coincided with a Texas Tech football game. My room rate had always been $139/night for a single king. However, in order for me to stay one additional night; my room rate sky rocketed to $299/night. I requested help from the general manager in reducing this rate, but he cut me off before I could even explain my situation. After being loyal to this company for years I would have expected that he at least try and help me find accommodations within the Marriotts in his area. He instead said I wouldn't find anything less expensive. I called the customer service number for Marriott and they booked me a hotel at another Marriott location in Lubbock for $159. The lesson learned is that the general manager at this location is money driven and not customer service driven. read more

Because it is close to a hospital my husband was in, I chose this Marriott. We are Marriott rewards members and this was the first time I was disappointed. First impression , the neighborhood is quite run down around the hotel. Cleaning crew left bathroom cleaning supplies in my room 2 days ( I put them out in the hall) without cleaning the sink area. The last day the housekeeper did not come to my room at all. Morning Bistro staff was not very friendly at all and not professionally dressed. All in all not up to Marriott standards. read more

New, clean courtyard. It's really just like every other courtyard. Stayed here twice for business. Not quite as nice as the Overton but if you want points and to stay loyal to Marriott, it's slim pickins. Honestly this place isn't that bad. The service isn't great at the front desk, so definitely one to two stars off there (would be nice if they greeted you good morning, good evening on your way in and out, and treated you extra nice if you're platinum). That said, the facilities are fresh, the fitness center is nice, with I believe 3 treadmills, 1 elliptical and 1 bike, weights, and plenty of room to stretch, (though I think that most of the on-machine screens are broken) a beautiful outdoor pool and bonfire area, and a standard bistro. Biggest drawback is that you've got to drive to get to any restaurants other than the in-hotel bistro, but oh well. It's a decent option. Extra star for the beautiful outside patio/pool/bonfire area. This was our third nightly stop on a drive from Montgomery AL to C-Springs CO. We are Marriott Elite members so tend to stay with them whenever practical. This is a fairly new Courtyard in a convenient location right across from Texas Tech. The front desk staff was very friendly and made a point to address us whenever she saw us. The bistro staff was average, but the chef would come out from the kitchen frequently and make the rounds ensuring everything was OK, and talking to the patrons. Perhaps he was taking care of some new trainees. The prices are likely on the high end for this area. The only real downside was the room which felt surprisingly small and had one of the noisiest HVAC units I had experienced in a while. It was also unfortunately aimed right at the bed, so when it came on you got the brunt of the airflow in your face. There were no controls on the unit itself to control the amount of fan, only the thermostat on the wall. read more

Paint on wall near door damaged from luggage (?) possibly and desk chair bent back out shape (no idea why). To be fair I'm a loyal Marriott rewards member and stayed on points traveling through town. Bistro and small commissary prices - HIGH for what you get. Other reviews are accurate on that front. Typically when I travel for business I book Residence Inn simply for kitchenette (healthier options when able to hit grocery store and prep on own) and free breakfast. Great location for Texas Tech visits. It is very close to the campus, but it is on the edge of an existing older neighborhood I would not wander in at night. Hotel itself is going. Environmental controls for the room worked very well. They have a decent selection of food and drinks most of the day. The one major issue was the internet TV. We used Netflix for the kids and the experience was bad. Very slow to load and low resolution a lot of the time. Not sure if it is a bandwidth issue or the tv. Either way, if this is offered, they need to beef this up to make the experience better. read more

I stayed at The Courtyard Lubbock Downtown Marriott in Lubbock for three nights and my experience was disappointing for several reasons. 1) In the morning following my first night at the hotel I woke up at 6am jazzed to enjoy a hot shower but alas the shower wouldn't work. Why? Because the pipes in the room were frozen. Geesh, you'd think someone would have made sure the shower worked before renting the room. Given that I was short of time I ended up taking a sponge bath in the sink of the bathroom - oh what fun! I reported the situation to the front desk and they gave me another room that evening and thankfully the shower in the new room works. 2) I've stayed at lots of hotels and all of them offer free coffee when you arrive and in the morning at the very minimum. In fact most hotels give you a complimentary breakfast but the The Courtyard Lubbock Downtown Marriott doesn't feed you breakfast nor do they provide coffee at any time unless you count those nasty coffee packages in your rooms. This Marriott will sell you breakfast at inflated prices and you can even purchase alcohol when their little bar is open in the evening however their selection of beer and wine is pretty meager. 3) The Marriott's pool and hot tub are outside; the temperature has been in the teens during my stay. I wanted to swim and jump in the hot tub but there's no way I am doing so as cold as it's been. Why on earth wouldn't this place have an indoor pool and hot tub like every most other hotels? 4) The fitness center is lame. They have a few ellipticals and treadmills, some dumbbells and a few light slam balls and that's it. Some people like myself want to do a real work out when we're stuck staying in a hotel for a few days for work. The fitness facilities need some upgrading; it's the freakin' Marriott not the "Hotel No-Tell". 5) How about a morning newspaper? Nada. Maybe a few baked chocolate chip cookies at the front desk at the end of the day too? Not this place. Nooooo. Not impressed in the least and this review is written by someone who worked as a bartender for the Marriott in Boston while in college and vividly recall how extraordinary the hotel was that I worked at; The Courtyard Lubbock Downtown Marriott pales by comparison. read more

Very modern and clean decor. Stayed in the king room, i liked the layout a lot. The shower doesnt have a door which threw me for a bit but it was still enjoyable. bathroom was pretty minimalist and open. I did like the cut out where they put the soaps. Bed was extremely comfortable and the tv was able to be turned and pulled from the wall which i liked. the lighting was a bit complicated with a "master" switch as you walk in. I liked the patio firepit and indoor bar a lot, looked great as well. I used my military discount but for the price and how short notice i booked, the room was great exactly what i needed after a long drive. I definitely recommend this hotel. read more

The hotel gets high marks for being fairly new, clean, and conveniently located to the campus. However, our low rating is for the management. We had spent the weekend moving 2 kids in/out of apartments. All we wanted to do was shower and go to bed. The room above us sounded as if they were herding cattle, so we called the front desk not once, not twice, but 3 times over a 2 hour span to please do something about the noise. By his own admission, the night manager never contacted the room to ask them to quiet down. So after the 3rd call to management, my husband said he would go upstairs to ask them to quiet down since the manager didn't deem it necessary. To which the manager threatened my husband with removal from the hotel by police escort for "harassing the guest". We never even spoke, saw, communicated with the noisy people upstairs and neither had the manager. An extreme response to say the least! So bc management refused to do his job, my husband was threatened. Anyway, after having to get out of bed in the middle of the night and go down to the front desk to speak to the management. The manager finally called the room to ask them to quiet down; the people were very compliant and noise stopped immediately. So if the management had done their job in the first place, we all would have gotten a stress free, un-frustrating good night of sleep. But that didn't happen. Shouldn't the 1st priority of a hotel be the comfort of its guests? read more

This hotel is new, and for frequent travelers that is a huge plus. Brings more of the modern look to the rooms and lobby, which is different than most Courtyard locations. Ready access to charging locations within the rooms, nice couch in King suites, semi-quiet area but little noise from Hwy 82. The front desk people seem too busy to really provide great customer service, it's like the management in the back can't answer the phone while all the people are trying to checkin. New TVs, and new bathrooms. The Free WiFi is pretty slow and with most Marriott locations they charge an upgrade fee for quicker speed of $4.95/day. Overall I'll come back. read more

We are Marriott preferred members, we requested the top floor but instead were given a room on the second floor right next to the parking lot. I loved hearing the cars come in and out all night!
