Spent a couple days in Lubbock, TX. The Cotton Court Hotel was the only redeeming quality we found in Lubbock so we spent all of our time there. The courtyard was very well kept. There's lots of vignettes of seating areas with fire pits. Multiple green spaces which made traveling with our Westie enjoyable. Fountains, trees, whimsical lighting all contributed to a lovely couple days stay. The outdoor pool was well maintained and offered multiple seating options in and out of the sun. Our room was clean and welcoming like staying at a friend's home. We decided to join the Valencia members program after staying at the Cotton Court and look forward to visiting their other properties in the future.

Cute and comfortable stay is what to expect at this hotel! The courtyard common and pool areas are perfect to enjoy the outdoors. The rooms are spacious, clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. The fridge is stocked with drinks and a basket of snacks are available for purchase. The Midnight Shift restaurant is on-site which had a great selection of food and drinks. This hotel is perfect for families or for a couples/friend's getaway.

Stayed at the Cotton Court Hotel over Mother's Day Weekend which also coincided with graduation. This hotel is part of the Valencia Group which include some of my favorite hotels in San Antonio and San Diego. This hotel is a bit more casual with an open faced courtyard. Not only did they have valet parking but there is plenty of street parking around. Lobby is right across from the restaurant and pool area with plenty of seating around. I must say though the valet team was so friendly and were always able to bring out our cars within 5-10 minutes. The restaurant itself had an ample sized bar and damn were their old fashioneds delicious. I also was impressed to see fernet branca on their menu. With the number of rooms here, I never waited for more than a few minutes to get a drink. Sadly I didn't have the chance to enjoy the pool, but it was very well maintained with plenty of lounge chairs. It is a family friendly hotel, so just be aware there are some kids (though not many) that were staying here. What I really enjoyed about the courtyard was all the open space and lounge areas. My family and I had rented out one of their event rooms for a law school graduation party for my brother which turned out super nice. We were allowed to go in and set-up during the day which was nice. The only thing to keep in mind is that the rooms are not soundproof, so the party next to us having a dj blaring their sounds definitely rolled over into our space. So much so that we didn't even bother trying to play our own music. I think this should be handled better, especially when minimum spends are required. The food and staff working though were nice. We did have to ask for staff to pick-up dirty plates and glassware as they weren't initially but it was smooth sailing after that. Now my room was the 5-star experience. Obsessed with the style of the room and decor. The vintage fridge was so well curated and there was space to put in leftovers. I also appreciate you could adjust the fridge to fit other things without an "automatic" charge. The king size bed came with a full sized couch, smart tv to bluetooth your music, desk, armoire, full walk-in shower, and it was a true safe haven. I totally recommend staying in the main building which had more of a true hotel feel. The courtyard rooms were open facing. Overall it was a decent stay but I do believe outside high-demand weekends it makes sense this hotel goes for around $200 a night compared to the $400 a night when we went.

Loved this hotel!! I was driving across the country and my sister was staying here on business in the presidential suite with an extra bed!! I lucked out. I loved the decor, style, and vibe here! Not sure what the price point is, but I can tell you it's worth it. Great soaps, shampoo, and conditioner! Loved the bathrooms, and the free postcards! I will be back! The restaurant was great too!!

Same blood stain but with flash

Very cool building and friendly staff, bed was extremely comfortable and got a great night of sleep! But when I untucked the sheets and blanket to see what brand of mattress they had cause I was interested in purchasing one for myself I saw that the bottom of the blanket was dirty! Then upon further inspection there were tiny blood stains on the top of the comforter! We were disgusted we used the blanket the whole night! I would have requested a new blanket if I had known but it was too late. Then when we went to check out they informed me my credit card would be charged 19 dollar " location fee" or I could get 19 dollars worth of breakfast lol so basically forcing u to either waste ur time and get one dish (everything on the breakfast menu is 15 to 30 for a single dish) or order more food and end up paying 30 to 40 bucks any ways to get a full meal for you and whoever your traveling with. And even more annoying is that the key card wouldn't work on half the gates to get back in the building, very irritating especially since there is almost NO Parking. How are u gonna charge an almost 20 dollars hidden location fee when you can't even provide overflow parking? Very bad end to what we thought was gonna be a phenomenal stay. Very disappointed

Noisy AC unit and expensive food was a let down. Accommodation was good. The town is pretty deserted around the hotel not a lot to see.

To tell the truth, I was surprised certain wedding attendees made it on time since it's so secluded. Lol. My cousin and his long time significant other finally recently got married here. It was perfect for their laidback lifestyles. The bride's mother - who is a friend of mine - and their family all enjoyed planning their event and working with the employees here. The ceremony took place outside at the gazebo. Guests found their seats on wooden benches. Soon after, the party started in the barn a short walk away... a few chandeliers, rustic interior, and beautiful decorations adorned the space. The restrooms were always very clean and tidy. The bartenders, provided by Horseshoe, were friendly and quick. Security was also provided by Horseshoe, but I was a bit taken aback by uniformed sheriff deputies. Nonetheless, no one got kicked out or arrested, not even my rowdy husband. Overall, this is a charming place for a wedding venue or a special event. Highly recommended. '18 Challenge #28

Every table is a small with four seats, which makes it harder to mingle and get to know other people. My biggest complaint is the food and service; the beef was mostly burnt chunks, the sausage was bland, the tortillas were dry, and insisting that one person serve from two meat trays for 500+ people made it take forever. They had to start the program while half the people were still in line so that the schedule for the whole night wouldn't be thrown off. They even made a big deal about forming two lines and going down both sides of the table, but Chuck had to mete out the burnt beef, weird tortillas, and nameless sausage one person at a time. Then, after serving yourself beans, corn, and potatoes, the peach cobbler was pre-portioned in servings of about three tablespoons! And it was cold. Worst "Texas BBQ" I have ever had, even compared to other event centers. Staff came through while the kids were doing awards and took plates, even though some of them had barely started eating. I will never recommend 4BarK as a location for an organizational event. Two stars because none of the staff was actively rude. P.S. The restrooms are labeled as "Stables" and are about that nice - gentlemen might as well go urinate on the barn wall out back.

I haven't returned to Mano Negra since it moved from its old location in Cactus Alley to the heart of Lubbock. Their old spot was very tight but had such an unadulterated charm that made the space feel special. The new location feels a lot more modern, but as its fanbase continues to grow, it needed more space to work with anyway. Inside, there's a huge wall of art and plenty of seating, and it feels like a place that doesn't belong in Lubbock. It feels so mid-city that it almost made me emotional. In the back lies their bar, where they serve their famed sangria, house-brewed beers, and other beverages. Their bartenders are super knowledgeable and will help you make the right choice. In the corner are a few arcade machines, including Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat II, Defender, and Pac-Man. There are also plenty of board games to pick up as well. As for the drinks, the Sunset Sangria and their Sandia Sangria I had were both exceptional. Good sangria hits like nothing I've ever had before. Mano Negra's new spot has a great deal of outdoor seating and patio space. If the inside gets too loud or too crowded, and if there's live music like there was when I went, it can get LOUD. The outdoor space offers a quiet escape and a great conversation spot on a cool night in Lubbock. The overall vibe and energy of Mano Negra are lively. The Brazilian students playing music in the corner brought out a new level of energy to the night, and I had a blast going here. I warn that their drinks are a little strong and the energy can get a little hot, so you may find yourself three drinks deep, unable to resist getting your dance on a little bit. Have a little fun with it. RIYL: Feeling A L I V E on a Friday night
