We stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott while in town for my commencement ceremony. Overall, it's a good place to stay if you're mainly looking for a clean and convenient place to sleep while spending most of your day out exploring. The room was clean and well-maintained, which I appreciated. I do wish there had been more space to hang clothes and other items during my stay. The biggest downsides were the noise levels. The elevators were quite loud, and I could hear a lot of foot traffic from guests on the fourth floor, which made it difficult to fully relax at times. Another drawback was the breakfast situation. The breakfast spot downstairs closes at 10:00 a.m., making it difficult to grab anything if you wake up later, and there is no complimentary breakfast offered. They have a small market with snacks though. On the positive side, the location is very convenient. It's close to Target, Costco, and Kaiser, and Park Social is within walking distance, which was a great option for breakfast and coffee. Overall, this was an average stay. The cleanliness and convenient location were definite positives, but the noise and limited breakfast options kept it from being a higher-rated experience. read more

Worst hotel ever! I've always stayed at courtyards no matter where I travel, and this by far was the absolute worst. Got here about 10 p.m. and checked in on the 4th floor. Met about 3 people in the elevator who had to change rooms due to a sewer smell. Walked in our room and boom, funky! Called the front desk; they apologized and changed our rooms . One elevator was out, so we had to lug all our stuff back down, smh! Got to the front desk for her to lie and tell me no one has mentioned it. Lies. Met another family at the pool that had the same problem, so that's 5 people by now. Got a room on the first floor; the room is decent, but the shower comes out so hard it hurts , and there's mold up top! Went to the pool; no jacuzzi, by the way, and for them to tell us it's heated, but it definitely felt cold. Other families agreed, smh. Called the front desk; she said it should be about 75-78 degrees and will call the engineer. I told her it's cold, about 69-70 ! No pool towels; had to call twice . Seen the engineer go in and back out so fast and then again , nothing was done! Another lie! WiFi is super slow; the remote has a delay. This is definitely what I'm NOT used to! Parking is right in the front of the hotel never had a problem finding an over night spot. I would go on work trips and that's where we would stay. Down stairs bar and grill is very welcoming the staff is very nice and very attentive. Needed to stay in San Diego for a night and chose Courtyard San Diego Central simply because the parking charge was way cheaper than the other Courtyards. Besides, everything is close in San Diego. Got upgraded to a one bedroom suite through my status. Room was spacious and well-kept, although you can definitely see the age in the room. Unfortunately, no balcony like some of the other rooms. Staff here were friendly enough, although I had limited interactions with them as I made no requests. Location is fine, although I primarily picked this because it was close to the freeway. There's plenty of places within driving distance if you want to eat. Plus it is close to Convoy, the only reliable area in San Diego if you want Asian food. There is a pool and gym, although I didn't use it. Aforementioned parking is $18 and quite plentiful. read more

Everything was good until a saw a few cockroaches in the bathroom. Thank goodness it was my last night staying there. If not i would have left and gone to another hotel. I asked to see if they wave the overnight parking for handicap placard they looked at me as if i was speaking in a different language. We had a really nice upgrade due to Marriott Elite status but sadly couldn't really enjoy it because our trip was a really short one :( but the one bedroom suite was very spacious. Stayed here for one night as part of a basketball tournament, encountered the rudest female lobby worker. We were drinking in the BAR area at night and she starts yelling that 50 people were talking too loud. No matter how loud or quiet 50 people speak, it's gonna be loud. She claimed that she couldn't hear 2 of our kids asking her questions. She claimed that if someone complains about the noise, she's gonna shut everyone down, we asked her if anyone has complained and she said no, Not yet. Of course no one had complained, I'm pretty sure our group occupied 80% of the hotel, this witch wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for us staying at this out of the way hotel, which is pretty low level, but I guess that's the type of night employees you get when you stay at crappy places with uneducated angry workers. Will not stay at this dump again. In all fairness, I guess I'd be angry if I had to work the night shift and watch people having fun. read more

This hotel is off of the highway so there's no loud noises. Checking in was super easy. They had enough people to handle the line that was forming. I wasn't waiting more than 10 minutes to get my key and get out. There's a bar at this location that opens at 5pm. It's conveniently located next to the pool so it was awesome to just be able to run in really quick. The pool is a lot bigger than most. There's also a shaded seating pool style area. Lots of other laid back chairs to soak in the sun. They have a bistro open in the morning, so just know that the breakfast free is not included. The gym was a very decent size and there's a water dispenser to get quality water rather than buying bottles. The room that I had was a very nice size. The rooms were spacious and we were able to connect our switch to the TV to play games. The Bistro downstairs made the best Vodka Pasta. The reason why this establishment is receiving such a low rating is because on a recent family stay, my sister in laws Ipad was taken from the room. When we left back home, and realized the ipad was missing we checked the location and it appeared back in San Diego, the ipad was not taken anywhere and remained in the room the whole time. We then called the hotel to sort things out and they were absolutely no help and offered no solution. They didnt take the situation seriously and mind you there was very important information on that device, some sympathy or some compassion would have helped the situation but unfortunately at this establishment they did not care. If you stay here just keep in mind that if your belongings get misplaced theres a high chance that this hotel will assure you never receive your items again and they will not be doing anything to help you. We had a good one-night stay here before boarding the Disney Wonder, in a ground level room which was very spacious. Staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. And staff members were honest. The cushion I left in our room was picked up by a maid and put into the hotel's lost & found area. It was held for me until I made a 200-mile roundtrip trek to pick it up two weeks later. I was very disappointed in one respect, however. I always look for a whirlpool spa on the premises of any hotel or motel I book. And, here I was misled. For, while the photo of the pool area on the hotel's website showed a whirlpool spa, there was none to be found when we arrived. A desk clerk admitted that there had been one, but I was informed that the spa had been removed and covered over with cement during a recent renovation. We stayed here for just one night on a Saturday night. The facility is cleaned and with spacious lobby, a bar and a coffee shop are both available at the lobby. We had the two queens; the room is spacious and comfortable. They had a fridge which I appreciate. Free coffee and tea also available. Only thing is the AC unit takes a long time to adjust to desired temperature, and it makes a very loud noise when it's on. Beds are nicely made, clean and comfortable. We all slept through the night without issues. We went to the bar for drinks. I had old fashioned and my husband had jack and coke; drinks were made just how we liked it. Though, wish they had a big cube for my old fashioned though. The two bartenders were very polite, attentive and professional; we almost thought that we were at a high end steakhouse bar. My husband ordered their burger with fries; he said it was tasty and juicy. Checked in and out process were smooth and the employees were friendly and quick. Stayed for a night only on Tuesday-Wednesday. It wasn't busy at all and we were able to get checked in early at around 12:30. We were also able to get a higher floor room along with a sofa bed (king room). Check in was smooth and easy. Be careful parking your car as the hotel shares a lot with a business building (there are signs telling you which is hotel parking). As for the room itself, it was very clean. You can watch Netflix or YouTube on the tv. One gripe was that the tv remote was hard to use - you seemed to have to have it pointed in a specific area of the tv for it to work - this was a bit annoying. Room itself had really strong AC so we even had to turn it off because it was getting too cold. Bathroom was very clean as well. Really not much to complain about! read more

I said no my reservation is till Monday and they basically said housekeeping went into my room (not authorized) and they deactivated my room key and then said oh well we can extend your stay. Extend my stay? How about honor my reservation. That why people reserve hotels right? Not mid trip to be told they checked you out. Yo top it off they dont have any management on shift. So now I have to cancel my event and go back to the hotel because they need me to straighten it out. Very THIN walls and floors, which made it hard to sleep though the night because of the loud noise or loud stomping from above. This made it tough after a long day of business meetings. All I wanted to do was get some rest but the constant loud noise didn't give me the chance. The room has an older HVAC unit and the sound coming from it is loud. From my hotel room I could also hear noise from the freeway traffic. Stayed 9/7-9/8 As we walked in, we were greeted by Evently who also checked us in. We were staying for the night as we were going to watch a concert. We got checked in, Evently was friendly, informative about the hotel and acknowledged us as marriott bonvoy members. We were in the 3rd floor and we liked our room. It is the usual courtyard look, a little dated in our opinion but as long as it has a good bed and hot shower we're good. Now, a couple days later we came back to stay for another night, as we watched another concert. 9/11-9/12. We came in before 3 pm, and Natalie assisted us. Our room wasn't ready so we got put down on the waiting list. At 4 pm, we checked with another agent, didn't get her name but our room wasn't ready yet. Sat back down and hoping to get a phone call. Around 4:30, we got back in line and Evently was back again. She remembered us from a few days ago and she checked if there were any updates. And she did find us a room, on the 3rd floor. And funny enough, it was the same room that we got a couple days prior. Overall, i recommend this place for a quick overnight stay. Area was quiet, lots of amazing restaurants within driving distance. Plenty of parking. read more

Visited San Diego for a few nights and my husband ended up booking the Courtyard Marriott - San Diego Central for the trip. The hotel stay was average for us. The common areas of the hotel seemed to be kept in good condition. Upkeep and cleanliness of our room was so, so. There weren't many things within walking distance of the hotel, though there were several eateries within a very close drive. I would not classify my stay as comfortable or relaxing which, I'll briefly describe in this review. However, the price was right, so it makes sense why my husband booked here. We stayed in a Standard Room with a King Size bed. The room was spacious, mainly because of the long entryway. Aside from the king bed, there was a desk, a plush sofa seating area, television, mini fridge, and of course, shower and toilet with the sink separated right outside the door of the main bathroom. I appreciated this intentional type of layout to allow for privacy to do one's business in the bathroom while someone else uses the sink to brush their teeth or quickly wash hands. There was only one plug on each nightstand to charge devices with no USB connections. There were more outlets on the desk, however, not convenient for those needing multiple devices close by while in bed. In terms of cleanliness, most of the apparent visible areas seemed clean. Our bathroom floor was not the best and many of the areas behind the furniture looked like it had not seen a vacuum in a very long time. I had an issue our first day in the hotel with multiple staff members consistently knocking on our door and calling the room. I had to work later that evening and could not believe the amount of noise the staff was consistently making while interacting with our room. All of the reasons they knocked were not even relevant to our room. For example a leak complaint (that we did not make). The interactions left me very anxious and confused. Our first stay was far from being positively memorable. However, if the price was reasonable, we would consider them again the future. read more

Solid 3.5 stars. The hotel is a bit outdated, but you can't beat the price and location. Like the name implies, location was central to everything in San Diego. The hotel is located in a quiet business park area, with easy access to to the main freeways. There are tons of dining options on Convoy St, which was 5 minutes from the hotel. There is a restaurant and bar that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. No room service available. Parking is $16/night. Housekeeping is every other day. Staff were friendly and the manager corrected some issues that I brought up during my stay. Not sure I'd be back, might want to stay closer downtown next time. read more

Although I was on the top floor, the window panes must have been very thin because the highway 163 traffic was LOUD! Luckily, I travel with earplugs so I was able to sleep. The shower pressure was mediocre and there was no wand available. The towels were thin and rough. The bed was comfortable. The down pillows were comfy until the quills poked my cheek. There is no full-service restaurant on the property. They offer some limited Starbucks options but only until 9 AM. There is a swimming pool on the property, but no hot tub. Finally, their elevator is tiny! Was it worth $197 per night for a Monday and Tuesday? I think so. There are far more expensive options in this beautiful city of San Diego! read more

WOW! You would have a better experience at a Motel 6 ! We stayed 4 nights. This location caters to SPORTS TEAMS of all ages so don't expect any peace. The pool was a zoo of misbehaving kids with no hotel mgmt ensuring safe use. Our daughter almost got hit head with some kids rough housing and obviously breaking unenforced rules. On our last day the main elevator was BROKEN all day. This resulted in KiDs horse playing up and down the stairwells slamming doors keeping us awake. We called the front and the supervisor(male Saturday night) just couldn't comprehend what we were telling him.....just kept mumbling about how there were elevators on the end of each hotel wing. I repeated several times the sports team kids were horse playing on the stairways keeping everyone awake but he just kept repeating "the elevators work on end of building " . Also for two nights the sports team kids would run down the hallways knocking on doors and running down the stairs to escape being caught. When I called front desk on out last night, the same supervisor said there was nothing he could do since he didn't see it. You'd think there would be security cameras! Guess not which is a significant risk for guest these days Lastly on last night there was a truck in hotel parking lot with alarm going off for almost two hours. Several guest complained including us as we were trying to sleep for an early flight and yes...same supervisor said they were tying to find owner. This made zero sense because all vehicles are supposed to have hotel parking passes displayed that linked to specific guest. I asked if he could tow it since apparently they had no idea what to do and he said that wasn't an option because he wanted to give the alarm truck owner a chance to turn it off.......yes at the expense of rest for a whole wing of guest adjacent to that lot. So you don't want to stay here unless you like sports team kids running around uncontrollably throughout hotel. You don't want to stay here unless you like broken elevators. You don't want to stay here unless you like kids banging on your door at night waking you up. Lastly your don't want to stay here unless you enjoy hotel management that caters to the sports teams over individual guest comfort. Several teams were staying and leaving through out our stay. Probably alway like this so hopefully this helps you decide on finding a better place . read more

I did not like this place at all. The bathroom was dirty and although I booked a king bed room all they had left upon check in was a double queen ADA room on a higher floor or first floor king. Given the noise on the first floor when I checked in I opted for the the ADA room. The bed was very uncomfortable, but at least the room was quiet. I tried to order food and a drink for dinner downstairs, but after 20 minutes no one who worked there acknowledged me. I went up to the bar to try and order, but the bartender was too busy talking to someone else sitting at the bar. So I left not being helped. Find somewhere else to stay. Stayed here for 4 nights last week while visiting from Virginia to drive to Coronado (NASNI) for work each day. Parking is $14 a night and it is an open parking lot - I didn't let it really get to me bc I expect that almost anywhere now a days but it is somewhat silly that it costs to park here and there is no gate or anything and anyone could park. You do have to put a pass on your dash or you'll probably be towed at night, but still... Our room wasn't ready when we arrived at around 3pm despite my checking in the night before fully on my card and the app. We were SO tired after about 14 hours of travel that we just left our bags with them and went to find lunch/dinner. At around 3:50 we got a call that the room was ready and we were moved to the top floor (4th) at my request. Our room was 460 and was right beside the stairs, elevator and ice machine. I was worried about sound but the room was silent and we had no issues during the four nights there. Bed was super comfy and we were brought more pillows and blankets upon request. Room service only comes 1x every 2 days but they will bring you anything else you ask for. Room was actually nicer than expected and we found this to be a haven. The location is great bc there is a Target and In and Out and gas stations and tons of other places to eat nearby as there are a bunch of apartment complexes just down the block. Wifi was decent but just OK and the TV went in and out a few times while we were trying to watch some stuff at night. They do have smart TVs where you can load your Netflix and other accounts to watch movies which is nice and more hotels are doing this automatically now which is a good touch. I love that Marriott hotels email you your checkout information the morning of your departure so you can just leave and have it all there for you without having to do anything at the front desk. I stayed here because my son was on life support at a near by hospital and my car was broken into and the staff could careless. I was recently hired by my company to supervise/manage their power plants' operation and maintenance in California, and I'm here for a training from the manufacturer of our engines. The room is big and clean but that's all the good thing I can say about it. There is no coffee in the dining area at night, the tap water gave me the runs, and one night shift person watched other people get coffee but kicked me out (3/11/25), maybe because I dressed like I just woke up, I did just woke up. I needed hot water and the only place you can get them is from the water dispenser from the gym/fitness area, why none in the kitchen/dining area? For the price that you pay to reserve, you have to pay breakfast separately for $21.00, and also have to pay $18.00 for parking each night. The rooms are cleaned every 2 days, so don't leave any trace of food in your room that can smell in 2 days. The place is like a maze and you have to guess where the elevators are located. Oh, I almost forgot, you need to pay to get better internet connection, Unfortunately, as I write this review, I still have 3 days to stay here because my company booked me for 5 days. I stayed in a nearby Best Western in the past and it's much more convenient. Not as fancy, but cheaper, you get free breakfast, no parking fees, no rude staffer, and yes, there is coffee and hot water in the dining area 24 hours a day. All the people I see who are staying here right now are company sponsored, including the US navy's Track and Field team, but not individual traveler or vacationer. Don't take my word for it. Book a night and judge it for yourself. I'm never booking here ever again, unless I have no choice. read more

Staff provided bags of ice for our coolers 3. Hot breakfast provided each morning. Starbucks coffee included 4. Excellent hot/chicken wings (really good) 5. Drink coupons/vouchers provided (I'll explain) 6. Root beer floats provided (I'll explain) 7. Rebate/refund provided (I'll explain) 8. No issues with our service dog 9. Free parking 10. Comfortable beds 11. Free WiFi Negatives: 1. Small rooms; tiny closets and bathrooms. 2. Someone pooped in the pool twice. Pooped once each day. Pool was closed for 2 days. Really not the hotels fault. Hotel compensated us with drink coupons, root beer floats, and a slight rebate/refund for the inconvenience. 3. You can hear the freeway from our room. It was noisy. 4. A few staff members were on edge and not friendly. They seemed overwhelmed, anxious, and arrogant. Attitudes could improve. 5. $195 per night plus all the taxes and fees. That's steep. This is a $169 per night hotel. Overall, average stay. Not sure if I'd stay here again. read more
