They are reasonably priced and provide high quality care, The entire staff is professional and genuinely happy to work with you. I also use their online pharmacy for medications and supplements. They have no consideration for their client's time. Always running late. 6 minutes early for a tech appointment resulted in more than a 30-minute wait for a shot. I was told they were busy getting charts straightened out. if I was 30 minutes late, I would have been told to reschedule the appointment. The girls at the desk were so kind and helpful, I found a box turtle on the road that had been hit by a car. They helped me find a rehabilitation center to take him to. Arrowhead Reptile rehab. It was a lot of driving but I was able to get him there and get the turtle the help it needed. read more

Weird experience. I wanted to see if they were finally accepting new patients since I have in past heard great things about this vet. I was told originally no they weren't last year so I tried again this year. The receptionist did not pick up the phone at all professionally. She did not even say "thank you for calling this is ... speaking" no it was "hello , yes?" Like odd. Threw me off immediately. I asked my question and she told me they only accept annual visits now and it's a $50 charge up front. Huh??? Sounds like they care more about the money than even the animals. No thanks. I have a 6 month old puppy that suffers from a liver condition. In about 6 weeks she will need a "Liver Shunt" surgery. Because of this condition she is on a special low protein diet, and requires a prescription food diet. The food she needs is Hills liver aid, and it is not available to order at this time, so I called Covedale Pet Hospital to see if my doctor could send them a prescription for the food. Because I am not their client they refused to help me. They told me under no condition would they help me if I was not their client. I thought the only thing that really matter was the well being of the puppy; I guess in this case I was wrong. Give that some thought when you trust them with your furbabies! I love this vet!! I have 2 border collies under 3 yr old and we live in Hyde Park- so about a 20 min drive one way. We typically see Dr. FitzGibbon and occasionally Dr. Witalis - both are attentive and thorough with my pups! Both pups are rescues and my youngest one came from a rough situation and her health was being monitored so closely the first few months we had her. I always hear stories about people's vets over charging them, making needless appointments to get more money from you and other situations they can take advantage. NOT HERE! Another reason I will continue to make the trip. With our youngest pup, she had appointments a week apart for some health issues - because the appointments were so close together they didn't even charge us for the second exam. And when she got a painful shot, they gave us 3 pain pills complimentary to give to our pup if necessary! They care about your pet's life & your wallet! As for the other reviews talking about time spent...have you ever been to a doctors appointment for a human? Hour minimum, always. I'm happy to wait with my dogs so I can get the most out of my appointment and nothing will be overlooked. read more

The veterinarians have a true love for animals and it shows in their work. They get down on the ground and pet them when they come in, making sure they're comfortable. This morning, after 2 rounds of shots (one of which i administered myself), he apparently has parvo. I got up and got read and hit 3 vets which weren't open. I checked Covedale Animal HOSPITAL and according to the web they opened at 8. it was 7:30 so I went there and waited. Fine. 8:10 they answered the phone. I told the lady what was going on and that he probably had parvo. She asked my last name and put me on hold. Then she let some random dude in, then she let a vet in, then she talked to me from the door while i was on hold, then she went back inside and asked my name again - basically fine. I explained to her that I had never been there before because of the circumstances above. She then told me and my potentially super sick puppy that she's sorry but they're not seeing new clients because of Covid-19. No line waiting. No reason in the world to even be concerned about us. Not some homeless mutt off the street - a $1,500 dog possibly with parvo and the clock is ticking and they can't see a new client who was LITERALLY waiting at the door when they opened. I'm writing this review 20 minutes after leaving CPH, so take this with a grain of salt. They are always slow. Always. I don't think I've ever been there for less than 45-hour for a 3-5 minute routine examine for either of my two cats. As far as friendly, I've never experience anyone being rude. Generally, I'd say the staff is friendly. They just are slow. Everything is a chore. Getting your paperwork. Finding a prescription. Calling to make an appointment. So, why the bad review? Today, I took my cat in for his regular appointment. I was running behind, but because I always wait for 20+ minutes I figured I'd still show up. I apologized for running behind, when I checked and and no objections were made. They get me into an exam room in 5-10 minutes and check my cats temperature and tell me the doctor will be right in. Nope. I waited for 40 minutes and finally opened the door and asked if I had been forgotten about. The woman was nice and said she would check with them in the back. A couple minutes later a girl comes in to tell me that they are prepping his booster shot and will be in at any minute. She was bubbly and friendly, but didn't apologize for the delay. 20 minutes later and I'm ready to put my cat in the crate and leave and the Dr walks in. She asked how I was and I said I honestly wasn't happy. I said that I had been waiting for an hour. She then tells me that I was late. Yeah, I accept that, but if you can't fit me in, don't lead me to believe that everything is normal when its not. I decided on the spot that I was done in my mind and that I would rather not have the cat examined. I apologized to the doctor for being rude if I had been, I felt bad because I had never met her. Long story short. This place is not awful, but for someone who values my time, I don't have time for this. This is the first and only veterinarians office that I've ever been to, so who knows if others are better. read more

Love this place!! I've been coming here for many years. They've treated my dogs, cats and today, my 12 year old daughters hamster. My daughter was sooo devastated that her beloved hamster "Daisy" was sick. She's 2 years old and my wife and I figured she was nearing the end. They were able to give her fluids, antibiotics and a special food for sick rodents. An hour after being home and she is back to baseline. They treat all animals with equal respect. We will happily continue to bring our furry family members here. (Our pug has a checkup next Wednesday ). read more

I've had good experiences with this veterinary hospital.I have 5 cats and a dog and I have no complaints about the care that they've received. Appointments are easy to make and they're very good about sending me reminders about needed appointments, medications, and vaccines. I prefer some doctors over others, but that's more because of personalities than any deficiency on anyone's part. When one of my cats had to be euthanized last spring they were great. One of the vet techs saved some of her fur for me and made a plaster impression of her paw. I really appreciated that. Also, they're very reasonable priced. read more

I'm editing this review due to a recent experience. Update at bottom. I'm very nervous and picky when it comes to my cat. How can I not be? She's my baby. Before moving here about 4 months ago, I was entirely involved in her vet care, as I was a vet assistant. I was in the back with her all the time and was always there when anything happened. Obviously, that cannot be the case if I don't work at the clinic, which I completely understand. The vet I saw about 3 months ago (I know, late review, but I've been busy) was so personable and sweet. My cat has early renal failure at the age of 5. I gave everything to the vet that I had, her entire vet history, list of foods, medications she has been on and can't take, everything. We discussed everything from where the closest emergency vet is to what we will continue to do to provide my cat with the best care possible. Update: the last time I took my cat in for her check up, the vet didn't even have my cat's records updated. When I moved, I brought a binder with every single medical record she has. They made copies of everything. They didn't even have the copies. When I offered to bring copies of them next time I'm in the area, I was told that it wasn't needed. I have been getting my cat's blood work done twice a year to keep watch of her renal failure. The vet didn't even have notes saying she had renal failure, despite having gone to Covedale for blood work to check this prior to this visit. It was very disappointing. The initial visit had been great, but the fact that they didn't even have record of my cat's illness and misplaced her previous records? I'll be taking her elsewhere in hopes of better care! read more

**SCAM ALERT**I took my cat in for a runny eye, I told the Vet she was fixed because she had a clipped ear and has always been an indoor/outdoor cat. The Vet took her in another room came back in and said she isn't fixed, the wrong ear is clipped, and she feels like she is pregnant. If I have her fixed they can give her the need shots and terminate the pregnancy at the same time. THIS IS THE DOCTORS STATEMENT, A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL. So I schedule an appointment. dropped her off. get a call the next day, my cat is not pregnant because she is already fixed, and she has a micro-chip...hmmm QUESTION: Why don't they scan for a micro-chip on the initial visit, that would have given us answers as to spayed and shots questions as well as saving a lot of time and money. THIS DIAGNOSIS IS A MAJOR FAIL. IF THIS IS NOT A SCAM, IT IS DEFINATELY MEDICAL MALFEASANCE!!! Remember my initial visit was for a runny eye, I feel a partial return on my bill is due!!! read more

Took my cat there in November, December and February for the same issue (limping on front paw). Finally had a full X-ray to look at and was told the cat had severe hip displasia. Hips are bone on bone. Need to give him joint therapy meds and laser therapy for comfort. Took the cat to another vet for second opinion. Hip displasia was never mentioned. Covedale Pet Hospital cannot read X-rays properly. I cried for four days between visits thinking I was going to have to put my beloved pet to sleep. Office staff not accommodating to provide name of owner so we could have an adult conversation about the misdiagnosis. All these people want to do is push laser therapy and joint care meds because it's easy money. That's exactly what they promote on their on hold message too. read more

We love Covedale Pet Hospital for their genuine care for each of our pets. Our whole family goes there for all of our pets, from turtle to Cane Corso, and everyone in between. We love how our pets are all treated so gently and are always greeted by name when we come in the door. Similarly, they make follow up calls to check on our pets after care has been given. Epic fail by Covedale Pet Hospital! I called to have my 20 year old cat euthanized and they told me they were fully booked and it would be 8 days before I could bring her in. They had seen her before so we were not new clients. Once I explained that she was barely eating or drinking and didn't have much longer to live, and I wanted to end her suffering, still have to wait 8 days! Then put me on hold when I asked to speak to a manager. Manager not in yet but the receptionist came back and said they couldn't just make an appointment time appear. What the heck? How is this compassionate care and timely services?! Will NEVER bring any of my pets here EVER. 2 Updates: Receptionist called me and said they could fit me in tomorrow! No Thanks, damage is done. And also just talked with the manager. She said they couldn't accommodate my cat because we hadn't been long standing clients there. It's not my cats fault she has only lived here for a year.
