I'm here to update my Riverview Animal Hospital review, yet again. They are my got to for my kitties, especially my senior kitty who has a lot of heath issues. Everyone I've met at Riverview - and this go back pre-Covid - has been a delight to work with and very kind. I feel like I'm working with real animal lovers and professionals who care. Together, we've solved allergy issues, dental cleaning and extraction, UTIs, and for cases that were more serious, they have referred me to MedVet. They work very well with MedVet and share files and information freely, so that it really feels as if you have a team of professionals helping you look after your pet. It's a great group of people to have on your team and I'm grateful to have them! read more

Brought my kitty cat in for a checkup and was amazed at how well everything went. Parking was abundant, and I only had to wait a minute or two to get into a room for our appointment. Speaking of appointments, it was super easy to schedule one online and complete the pre appointment questionnaire. Addy and Dr. Mahan were so kind and great with my cat, who was pretty upset to have to go to the vet. They were so informative and answered every question I had. They even gave me advice on how to make her more comfortable with her crate for when i have to bring her back in a few months for shots. I am so glad I found a place with staff who cares about the wellbeing of my cat as much as I do. read more

Yes, yes, yes. I called in the morning because my pit bull, Thor, was scratching his ear and shaking his head and crying all night. They were happy to give me an appointment just a few hours later. I walk in to all the staff giving him tons of treats and love which made me so happy! They were so welcoming. They even have a little white board at the front desk welcoming all the pets that have appointments that day with a list of all their names. So even though he was a brand new patient, and even though I had just called that morning, they were happy to do everything they could to take care of Thor. They even lightly sedated him (because of whoever cropped his ears, some dumb backyard breeder I'm sure, he has some trust issues when it comes to getting close to his ears or face) to give him the injection he needed and treatments he needed and let us leave and come back when it was over. Didn't even charge us for cleaning his ears and also clipped his nails for free. So they completely treated what was a bad yeast infection and also they sent us home with anti anxiety medication for times we need to bring him back so he's a little more calm. This was all the day of calling. They took him in for a good 3 hours at least and took the time to cater to his specific needs. Highly recommend! read more

Amazing!!! The staff is AWESOME. They are always welcoming, polite, and extremely helpful. It's the only vet I've been to that I believe genuinely cares about my cats. They have let me have same day appointments in times of need and always call to check in a day or two later to see how they're doing. Not only do they care about helping my cats, but they also acknowledge that veterinarian services can be pricey, and discuss the best options financially. 10/10 recommend! read more

I finally captured a feral cat that I had been working on for 1 1/2 yrs. I called three animal hospitals. This was the only one who took us in sight unseen. The level of customer service was the highest I have ever experienced period. They treated my feral with utmost care and consideration. He could not have been easy to handle. I know it was traumatic for my guy, yet they treated him like a king. Which made it all the easier to bring him home and into our lives. He is now adjusting to becoming a house cat. Dr. Mahan and her staff are amazing. I have a 20+ year old cat who is relatively healthy for an old guy. He has some thyroid and kidney issues and Dr. Mahan is the perfect mix between not too aggressive, while still treating his chronic conditions. She responds personally to follow up on labs and tests and answer questions. The rest of the staff is also welcoming and friendly and scheduling is super easy. 10/10 would recommend! read more

Our Zelda was having complications with her heart murmur so I made an appointment with Riverview Sunday night & they got us in Monday afternoon. All of the staff are so welcoming and they did so much to make sure Zelda was comfortable. When it came to finances they were extremely gentle and respectful, the vet tech (Kate, I think her name was) explained all of the charges before performing the tests. Dr. Scherer made sure to take the time to find a second course of action when the first one didn't pan out, she didn't push us out of the office when she had another appointment and that meant a lot. In cincinnati on vacation and my shitzu got a flea. This doctor will not take a fax/email/call from my vet back home so that i can purchase a flea pill for my furr baby. They are making him come in for a $60 checkup before allowing us to purchase. Pretty crappy if you ask me read more

Two days after we got our eight week old puppy she became very sick. We had never been to Riverview animal Hospital and had just made an appointment for the following week for our new puppy. When I called them in distress they worked our puppy in for an appointment that same day. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. Dr. Mahon took plenty of time to answer all of our questions and to reassure us that our new puppy was on the mend. Lexi will continue to visit Dr. Mahon / Riverview animal Hospital the rest of her life. Dr. Mahan & her fabulous staff are so WONDERFUL! Whenever you have a scheduled appointment, you are brought back quickly and aren't stuck out in the waiting room with your crazy dogs. Dr. Mahan always is approachable and will answer any questions and calls personally to deliver updates/information. Recently, my 1.5 year old pup had some unexplained sickness in the middle of the night and Dr. Mahan kept her all day to monitor her and returned her to me totally healthy. Their prices are fair and they never do any excessive testing or additional appointments unless totally necessary. Both of my pups LOVE Dr. Mahan. Couldn't recommend her more!!! read more

I had adopted a cat and was unhappy with another animal hospital that I had used for years with a prior pet. That veterinarian had retired and sold the practice. Looking for someplace new, I received a recommendation from a friend to visit Riverview Animal Hospital. I was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism of Dr. Mahan and her staff. The facilities are modern, impeccable and well equipped. This was over a year ago but recently we were back for my kitty's annual wellness checkup. The level of service we received once again, prompted me to post a review of this fantastic practice. It pains me to write a bad review for Dr. Mahan's practice. I absolutely understand the shift in priorities when you start a family, but the initial revolving door of substitute vets left me wanting for sure. None bothered to familiarize themselves with my pet and one put me in an awkward position of overhearing her bad mouth a client who had just been in (Dr. Mahan did take care of this by not inviting this particular vet back). I don't know animals and I look to my vet to give me guidance. That was completely lacking in the sub vet when I chose to put my beloved Rocket to sleep. I still wonder if I made the right call. More recently, the new vet that joined the practice met Pretty, an outdoor stray that sort of adopted our family and became an indoor/outdoor cat. When brought in she was clearly in decline -- poor coat, massive weight loss, and a visible 3" x 1.5" growth on her stomach. She wasn't weighed, or even examined. The vet said she'd never seen anything like the growth but declined to take photos to share with Dr. Mahan or take scapings to look at under a microscope. She defaulted to an antibiotic shot, some wipes and blood work -- to the tune of $350. I have spent my last dollars on my pets so it wasn't the $350 per se but that I had to spend it to hear nothing was wrong with a clearly dying animal. A week later, while out of town, sweet Pretty collapsed on my bathroom floor and died. Alone. And possibly in pain. When I called the office and told them that my pet sitter's parents were bringing her in for cremation, that I would pay for it when I picked her ashes up, and I was really disappointed in her recent care (or lack of). I received a typical pre-printed card. My friends were required to pay $200+ when they dropped her off (they would not wait until I was back in town or call me for my credit card). Picking up her ashes, they wanted to charge me $5 unpaid dollars for can food she was given (as part of the $350 visit) and never ate. I said I'd like all my pets records sent to me, that I know longer wanted to be a client of the practice. That was met with an "okay" and a smile. No call followed. When I received the printed paperwork I expected a note from Dr. Mahan. There was no such note. This wasn't a decision made from grief, but from frustration. When a vet suggests surgery for an eye infection and I mention not wanting to put my (other) cat through a major surgery -- and they say "oh, has he had surgery?" Geez lady, he has 3 legs. Can you at least notice that about my pet!? Let alone review his records. If it was only Dr. Mahan and her male vet tech it would be amazing. Or clones specifically of those two. Unfortunately, that is not what the practice is today. And it's not for me. Definitely not for my pets. I expect better and require better for them. read more

After being unhappy with our previous vet (through Petsmart, that told us our cat we rescued from the streets was fixed and around 3 years old, only to get to Dr. Mahan and find out he wasn't fixed and was closer to 14!) we got a recommendation from a friend to come here, and man am I so happy we did!!! All the staff are amazingly friendly and professional, and their love of your pet is clear. I have had two different occasions where I needed to get one of my cats in immediately, and was seen both times that day. Pricing is reasonable and they always give you an estimate of the cost of everything before proceeding, which is super awesome when you don't have a lot of money to spare. The practice itself is always immaculately clean and welcoming. Dr. Mahan is funny, personable, very knowledgeable, and most of all an avid animal lover. I will never take any pet to anywhere else again, and neither should you!!! read more

So happy to have found this veterinarian and staff through our puppy adoption at SAAP. As a new puppy owner we were a little nervous about some things so we took our guy in for a visit and everyone was so nice from the first phone call to the check out after we were done.
