This is the easiest review I'll ever have to write. I trust Dr. Bob wholeheartedly. He treats my cat the way I would want someone else to treat my cat. He also treats me the same way I would want an expert to treat someone who has no idea what they're doing. Dr. Bob will never try to oversell you on something you don't need and always leaves me with peace of mind. The entire staff has always been immeasurably friendly. It's a small staff, so if you get their answering machine, just leave a message. Trust me, this is the vet you want to take your pet to. I thought to write this review because I had to take my cat to the vet today, but I was shocked that I hadn't already written this review. There's a reason that Dr. Bob has a plethora of 5-star reviews on here... he's earned them. When my cat has to stay overnight at this office, the staff doesn't bat an eye at my thousand phone calls checking on my little nugget (I'm a total softy). At the time I lived downtown (in Garfield Tower) and all the dog owners recommended me to schedule an appointment here. Well I am glad they did! I love this place and so does my dog (probably because of the free puperoni at the end of each visit; they also have treats for us too haha). Dr. Bob is pleasant, patient and welcomes all questions. He is a good listener and is interested in know what problems you are experiencing and how he can fix them. As a first time dog owner, I initially went through a lot of scares with my goldendoodle in terms of worms, digestive issues (due to ingesting inanimate objects) and allergies. Each visit Dr.Bob took the time to thoroughly respond to my questions (even though at times I was a worrywart dog mom) and provide several care options. He worked with my budget and would modify his recommendations to make them more cost effective. He also provided advice via phone call if he felt it was unnecessary for me to schedule an appointment. I appreciate a veterinarian who is attentive and flexible. I definitely recommend Dr. Bob, he treats animals well and recommends/provides proper treatments. read more

I was so thankful to find them 4ish years ago, after being disturbed by the way the vets st Oakley Animal Hospital treated my sweet, middle-aged girl when I tried them first after moving to Cincinnati 5 years ago. They both care for my calico Gizmo, and me her worrying pet parent, and are incredibly patient and knowledgeable- a rare combination. We're moving to Seattle and Dr Bob took the time in a routine vaccination visit when I sprang the news on him to offer advice on how to make a 2000+ mile trip easier on her. Talk about above and beyond. And I'll second ( twentieth? I didn't count) the other yelpers that mentioned how reasonable their charges are and how they don't try to talk you into anything your cat doesn't need. I was recommended to this vet by a friend who thinks highly of them. I and my spouse have been trying to call this clinic for days during normal business hours. Not only have they refused to answer their phons, they began to hang up each time I called. They mention to leave a voicemail if they "are on the other line", however the call simply hangs up after the beep making it impossible to leave a vm. I needed to get my dog in as soon as possible and this is horrible business practice. read more

Dr. Bob I'd a magician. He is so calm and gentle with everyone (furry or not) that it is almost hypnotic how that calm spreads to you. No matter how freaked out you are getting about your fur-baby, his informative, low pressure approach will set you at ease and give you the elusive feeling of control. I LOVE this place! I just adopted a dog from a local shelter and a friend recommended that I check out Dr. Bob and the Plum Street Pet Clinic. It was great for someone who lives downtown or in Over-the-Rhine. I walked Eli, my new dog, for his Saturday morning check up. It was our first visit and I felt very welcomed. The staff was great and Dr. Bob answered all my questions. Eli had a cough and Dr. Bob gave me some antibiotics. They were extra he had on hand so he didn't charge me. Dr. Bob answered all the questions that I could come up with as a new pet parent. Doctor Bob is great! The office is clean, front desk girl was pleasant. Dr. Bob answered all (and more) of my questions about my kitty boy Lucky! He was a street cat and he had a nasty ear problem which I have tried to get rid of (and haven't been able to). One visit and it's almost 100% gone. Also, the pricing was great. I am always so afraid to take my animals to the vet because in California where I lived, the prices were through the roof for a check up. I was shocked when I Waac rung up. Dr. Bob is great! We've been taking our cats here for several years for a range of services -- checkups, shots, sinus infection, weight managmement. Dr. Bob is always attentive and gives solid, no-nonsense advice. For example, one cat came to us on the "fluffier" side. Rather than have us buy the more expensive low-cal cat food, Dr. Bob recommended adding some high fiber pumpkin puree to his diet, which our cat loves and works great. The clinic's prices are very reasonable and scheduling is super easy. Leigh, the clinic manager, is responsive and hilarious. If you ask nicely, she'll show you her collection of gross things in bottles. read more

We found Plum Street Pet Clinic on Yelp and thank god we did! I took my little puperoni Jasmine in today. She is a five pound chihuahua so as you can imagine I was pretty nervous. Dr. Bob greeted us at the door and got us in right away. We went into the exam room and he was very kind and patient with her. Usually she nips, starts shaking and totally freaks out, but you could tell Dr. Bob was a calming force. We went in because what started off as a little scratch had become a larger bump and we were worried. Instead of telling us what we were going to do (like at other places we have ventured) Dr. Bob told us, "I am here to provide you with information so you can make a decision that is right for you." He let us know that the bump was a cyst but it had not fully attached to the blood vessels yet and could be properly treated with a cortisone shot. Worried that the shot might affect my tiny pup we expressed our concerns and he made us feel that is was the safe way to go. We went ahead with the shot and he was very gentle. We were in and out in about 20 minutes and the total for the exam was $45 and $35 for the shot which I thought was reasonable. But most of all we appreciated the one on one attention here. This is not like one of those huge kennels where you are just another number. Dr. Bob is kind, passionate, and most of all treats every animal like it is his own. Aaaaaaaand, I've found a new vet! Long story short, I web md'd my cat and freaked myself out. He hadn't eaten anything or drank anything in days and was vomiting profusely. When it turned to foam/spit...I freaked. Called our regular vet as soon as they opened this morning and not only were they rude, they refused to see Leroy Brown( my feline friend) and said that I should call the emergency vet if I was that concerned. Needless to say, I hung up and got straight on yelp! Enter...Dr.Bob! He actually answered the phone, listened to me and said that even though they swamped to bring Leroy in right away. What!?! This guy is amazing! Parking was a breeze, walked in and Dr.Bob greeted us. Took us back to an exam room and got to it. He was so great with my cat, gentle and compassionate. Some talking, questions and an x ray later we had a plan of action for a stubborn stuck hairball and I was heading out the door. My bill was also considerably lower than I've paid other places for much less. The girl that works the front and assists the Dr is a total sweetheart too. Are these people real?!? Just walked in the door, got my sick buddy comfy and came straight to the computer to review. Seriously, Dr.Bob is good people and a great vet. We've found a new place!! read more

We take our pup, Sam, to see Dr. Bob and we don't even live downtown! If you're a resident of downtown, OTR or the surrounding area, you need to check out Plum Street Pet Clinic. Dr. Bob is a caring Vet with a small staff in a 1st-class office/clinic space. How many vet offices do you know of that have an elevator?!?! As I mentioned, our pup, Sam, has been a patient here for over two years. Dr. Bob has helped us nurse Sam back to health after developing diabetes ( I won't even get into why that happened - my husband is still pissed with the former vet). Although Sam actually hates going to Plum Street Pet Clinic - because of all the poking and prodding - it's a great place. Dr. Bob and his staff are very attentive and caring. Not to mention reasonably priced. If you're not familiar, it's sandwiched between Plum St. Cafe and Mainstay on Plum St (between 4th & 5th). There's usually parking at a meter nearby or try the alley halfway down the street. read more

What a great experience my husband and I (and most importantly, our 10 year old cat, Gus) had at Plum Street Pet Clinic! We had been taking Gus and his "siblings" to another clinic for years, but when we moved out of the neighborhood, we decided it was time to find a doctor closer to home. I am so glad we decided on Dr. Bob! Clean waiting room and exam rooms, fantastic care, and lots of expert advice from Dr. Bob wound up costing much less than I expected. Who knew that you could get so much more customer service for your money at a small veterinary clinic! It even has a great location and plenty of easy parking (metered street parking and a pay lot across the street). My pup has been going through normal puppy woes so we have been frequent fliers here between wellness visits and an emergency call. Wow. I have NEVER met a vet clinic who was this great to me or my pet. I just purchased a dog from the SPCA a few weeks ago and have turned out to be a mother hen to my little doggie. I planned on taking him to the vet although he had already been in May because he was due for his rabies shot. Well, in trying to be through, I have been searching Yelp and calling all over the place to find the perfect vet for my dog, Zombie. He's been through alot in his life already and I want the rest of his life to be perfect so this is a huge decision. Early this morning he woke up in serious pain and was crying and yelping up a storm. I picked him up and that seemed to make him worse. I panicked because I didn't know what to do for him. I hopped on Yelp and came across this place and called as soon as they opened at 7:00 a.m. I expressed my concerns and that I had to be at work by noon and the girl on the phone told me that wouldn't be a problem. She got us in at 9:00 this morning! He got his rabies shot, a general check and had his legs examined since that seemed to be where he was having the issues with pain. Dr. Bob, gave him a clean bill of health and explained that sometimes small dogs sprain their legs when they jump up and off stuff. He thinks that may be the case. He told me that we could X-Ray my little guy, but he said, "Honestly at this point, I don't think there is a reason to do that.. and I'd just be running up your bill." How is that for honest??? Anytime I have any issues with my little guy. I feel great knowing I have a place to take him, and the prices are great compared to most other pet clinics. I am so happy I found Dr. Bob and the Plum Street Pet Clinic. The second week I was living here, I had to go out of town on a last minute trip and needed somewhere to leave my cat. Though they are not zoned for boarding, they let Delia stay with them for several nights since I was in a pinch. As Delia is a long-haired cat, she often ends up with several gnats and tangles that I have to cut out when she is boarded. Not here, the staff was wonderful to her, and she might have been healthier when I picked her up than when I dropped her off. I also needed to get my cat's teeth cleaned, and my old vet told me it would be $800. I saved the money and took her to Dr. Bob only to learn that he thinks a lot of veterinary car is far over priced, and Delia's teeth cleaning with him would only cost $195. Dr. Bob's veterinary practice is perfect for downtown pet owners. I love being able to walk my pug to the vet and knowing that help is just footsteps away if ever he has a problem. However, parking is pretty convenient in this part of town if you do bring your car. Even as a first-time patron, I was able to schedule an appointment for a general wellness exam within days of adopting my dog. As a nervous, new dog owner, I had a long list of questions, and Dr. Bob took the time to answer all of them for me. The office is bright and clean, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. We live in Covington and have been seeing a clinic in KY during the entire time we've owned our cats. The place we were going just kept getting dirtier, the vets and assistants ruder, and long story short, we were done. A friend recommended us to Dr. Bob, and boy, are we happy! Our two cats have very unique personalities from one another. Guinness is usually very skittish of new surroundings, and especially new vets who want to poke and prod her. Well, she LOVES Dr. Bob! He is so gentle with her and keeps her calm the whole time. It's so obvious that he actually cares about the animal, and isn't just going through the exam in a hurry, like our old vet used to do. He recommended a more frugal option to remove the nasty hairball problem that she was having, as well as making some suggestions for us about how to keep Guinness' brother, Jameson healthy. He wanted to keep jumping up on the table, even when it was his sister's turn. Dr. Bob humored him, even though it was interfering with Guinness' exam. I thought that was awesome. Dr. Bob has been helping me take care of my cat, Jekyll, for the past few years, and he is easily the best vet I've ever been to. He's very nice, gives you options, and he's very honest (gives practical solutions instead of sponsored ones.) Jekyll doesn't seem to mind him much, either! I bring Jekyll in at least twice a year for urinary issues, and Dr. Bob is always ready to keep him overnight for tests and do what we need to do to get him back on track. read more
