We had a fantastic experience working with Melvin. He took great photos of us in three different areas--New York City for our engagement photos; Clarks Summit near Scranton for our wedding; and Paris, as our honeymoon happened to overlap with when he was shooting a wedding there. For each of these shoots, Melvin was prompt and clear with communication, making coordinating something that could be logistically challenging quite easy. We were also impressed with his flexibility as a photographer. For instance, he had experience shooting at Grand Central Terminal in NYC and at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and knew just where to go to get some amazing shots. And while he hadn't been to Clarks Summit or Astoria, Queens, previously, he was able to quickly appraise the situation and identify some great locations and poses for photos. In Astoria Park, he had us go out onto some rocks that jutted into the water while he went to line up a shot, and he came through with one of our favorite photos despite him having ended up splashed by the waves! Our wedding was a destination wedding. It implied a bit more complexity in regards to how would Melvin get there and where would he stay. Unfortunately there were airline changes which I couldn't do anything about. Melvin was the most understanding and flexible person. No issues whatsoever. An important quality about Melvin is that he never stresses about anything even if he is worried about certain details. He remains calm which is critical in wedding situations where there is a lot of tension. Overall just a great, trustworthy, reliable photographer. The work he does is extremely high quality. I think his pictures are very classy and timeless. He puts so much effort in to getting every moment. He photographed things we didn't even think about. Another key thing is that he has great ideas. He tells you where to stand and how to pose and is also open to your suggestions. His candid photographs are awesome too. He is open to spontaneity, so sessions are fun, never dull. Love his work. I had the pleasure of hiring Melvin to be our wedding photographer when he was first starting out, and he was everything we were hoping for. Even though we'd hired him at a discount through a wedding boutique, he refused to take other customers who offered him full payment to abandon us on our wedding day.
