This office is all women staffed - this does not mean it is a safe space for women. My first initial visits were great but turned sour quickly. They do not prioritize patient care. They laugh and make fun of their patients. You are told that you can see any provider, but I never actually spoke with a Doctor throughout my entire pregnancy/postpartum not even an informal introduction to make their presence known. You will never meet with the same provider; it will be a different midwife every time. Most of the staff also works in the hospital. Scheduling is not convenient. The scheduler/receptionists is supposed to reach out to schedule appointments (for certain matters) but lack or they don't answer the phone. I had one reach out & she provided the wrong patient information on my voicemail. It can be a hassle to obtain anything paperwork related such as work accommodation letters, FMLA paperwork, return to work forms, within a reasonable time. One of the receptionists completes the paperwork, never a doctor. She will sign for the doctor even if you've never spoken with one. The paperwork looks like a high schooler forged it (very unprofessional especially when she makes mistakes). She does not have urgency to return the paperwork & completes it wrong, will need to follow up. They offer group appointment sessions - Centering Pregnancy classes (located near Newton hospital) where you meet as a group and discuss a plethora of topics. This is a nice alternative to regular office visits but personal information of others is sometimes heard because there's no real privacy door/separation. Dads are welcome too. It's informative for first time moms and filled with activities/guests from the hospital. You will complete a labor and delivery tour at the hospital. The sessions only scratch the surface on topics. It does not cover induction process in depth, risks of induction, c-section process, labor rules (apparently there's a 4 hour timeframe for how long you can push vaginally until another method is used or c-section) & what to truly expect during labor/delivery. Breast pumps (covered by insurance) are provided through Aeroflow. A form has to be completed & they are supposed to do the rest. You will likely need to follow up. Circumcision for boys can be completed in office within 6 weeks from birth by a midwife/surgical tech. They are not knowledgeable of their own capabilities or processes; they are operationally sloppy. Always read the after notes in the mychart; leave the door open because they will leave you waiting in the patient room for unnecessarily long. I do not recommend this practice if you are a first time mom, younger mom, or single mom. You should always have someone with you at office appointments to advocate or be a second set of ears (even if they tell you that you can't have anyone else in the exam room with you, yes you can - do not allow them to intimidate you). They are not thorough with follow ups, lacks listening skills, and often will place prescription medications at inconvenient locations (even if you tell them where). read more

I saw LaPrecious and she was amazing!! I have heard so much good about this place and have had nothing but great experiences with my prenatal care. I have like 5 friends who have gone there for prenatal care also and have also been incredibly happy. What's most important to me is being heard. Being treated like an actual person and not just another patient. And they absolutely achieved this. I previously had gone to Piedmont Atlanta and they were horrible. Office staff did not communicate with me about having support there when I made my appt. I waited almost three weeks to see my doctor. The day of my appt I called to verify and they let me know that I can only have my husband come to two of my prenatal visits. This information should have given to me during my initial phone call. So I asked to speak with the office manager. She answers the phone and does not even say her name and that she is the office manager. I had to ask who I was speaking with. I tell her that I am not happy with the way this was handled and I have been waiting for weeks to get in to my appt. This should be told to patients prior too so they can make informed decisions. She says "ok." I say that is unacceptable and she says I'm taking her "ok" out of context in that she agrees with me. She then starts to tell me that they have to follow cdc guidelines and they change. So have a conversation and inform your patients what to expect! Or guide them to a place where they can find this information on how you are running your office. Her brushing me off and not taking my concern seriously was a blessing in disguise. And I want all moms to be advocated for from all staff in an office! Her attitude and non care lets me know that I would never want to go to a place like this! If I can't have my support person there and your staff are to be "my support" how would I trust you!! This was something simple! She went ahead and said in the middle of me talking "well what we are going to do is go ahead and cancel your appt." What a rude woman! Not an I'm sorry that this was not said to you and I'll take this into consideration. Three weeks is a long time to wait to be seen for an appt to have to cancel that same day to now have to find another office. Just don't come here if you want your concerns to be taken seriously. I believe management sets the tone for an office. If this is a reflection of how you treat your patients it's a SHAME! No matter what the complaint is. I've seen other bad reviews. This is the second time I have been deterred from this office and I think it's a BLESSING! The first time my insurance didn't cover the birth at Piedmont. I'm telling you just do your research on maternal death, baby death, and c-section percentages from this office. And read your reviews!!! read more

If you're in college/pretty young, DO NOT GO HERE! especially if this is going to be your first experience at a gyno office! I had never been to a gynecologist before going to this office and as a 19 yro having to do all of this alone, i was already really scared and nervous. I was going in for some menstrual abnormalities that I've had for years and they had gotten to a point where I needed to see a gyno. My first appointment wasn't horrible but I left the office feeling embarrassed and invaded. I told the nurse that this was my first time at a gynecologist and that I didn't know how the appointment was even supposed to go or kind of equipment they used--she said something that made me think she'd walk me through everything. She left everything out for me to "undress" to see the doctor and but like i didn't know what to do with the sheet they gave me, and let's just say I felt embarassed and exposed and neither the doc or the nurse said anything to fix it. Additionally, Rhonda Cook just seemed like she wanted to get the appointment done but nothing was necessarily rude this time. For this first appointment, i vividly remember her intentionally doing certain things to ensure less discomfort on my part, which will be relevant later in this story. They did a test and ordered bloodwork--soon later i get a call about what they found and send antibiotics and meds etc. A month or two pass and I'm getting this abnormal discharge that she had orginally said was a symptom of what they had found and supposedly treated--so, of course, i go back. This second appointment was horrible. I have always heard stories of how women are dismissed and made feel like they don't know anything about their own bodies but i never thought that it would happen to me. I get to this second appointment and i have a different nurse setting me up this time. She was rude and made me feel stupid. i was telling her why I had came back and if they could run tests to see what was wrong and if I still had the infections, she asks me multiple times what tests or lab did i want. That I had to be specific and tell her the name of it--which why would i know the name of all these tests you could get done at a gyno office?! I'm not the one who went to school for gynecology; i went to the office for their help and opinion and their making me feel stupid for not knowing the words "pelvic floor test" off the top of my head. After I finally remember the name of the last test they had me do and say it, she asks me what I had been diagnosed with. Another thing about my appointment with them is that they only spoke in acronyms when they told me what I had; they would just assume i know all this terminology. Even when Rhonda diagnosed me with PCOS, i had to google it and she was so cold. ANYWAY this nurse starts guessing what i had been diagnosed with and starts listing STDs. I am 19 and i know i was the youngest person in that office but i found it so insulting for her to assume the only reason I could be in there was for an STD and found her behavior to be ageist, especially after I had stated multiple times that I had not sexually active ever. Anyway, Rhonda Cook comes in and starts asking why I'm back. I told her about the irregular discharge i was having and how something felt wrong and she starts gaslighting me and telling me that nothing can be wrong with me since i wasn't sexally active. And then i would start talking and saying more symptoms and she interrupts multiple times with the same explanation that nothing is wrong because I'm not sexually active. I tell her i wanted a test regardless and so (reference to my first test experience) she was pretty rough with me in comparison and seemed like she just didn't want to see me anymore and wanted me out of her office as soon as possible. I had submitted a urine test before seeing her so when she leaves and comes back, her attitude and energy changed completely from dismissive and annoyed at me, to trying to be nicer and sympathetic cause she knew she messed up. She came back to tell me that they had found blood in my sample and that they were going to do further testing. I left that office, took an uber to my dorm and sobbed. I hated that experience so much and i wouldn't recommend them if you are on the younger side, especially if it's your first time at a gyno office. read more

I couldn't be more pleased with my hysterectomy pre-op, operation itself including the overnight stay, and the post-op with Dr. Larrimore! A GOOD OVERALL EXPERIENCE! This office has grown over the years and with that growth I felt like I had many of the staff helping me above and beyond their title, between setting up my appt to registration days before, all the medical staff in the office were helpful and sincere. Dr. Larrimore was very informative at my pre-op appt, and helped ease all anxieties away I was having. I am so pleased with how I was taken in and taken care of and will tell anyone of my great experience! I was also just as pleased in 2012 when she delivered my first child, and in 2014 when she delivered my twins. I came here for three visits. The first was because my gyno wanted me to get an ultrasound. I was nervous that something scary would be found. Once i signed in, i got called back and everything was fine. The giant issue is that i'd been called miss and m'am. I'm non binary / agender. My body has the biological parts of a woman but it's not what i identify with. I wore a pronoun pin that said They/Them but it was ignored. My follow up visit had been to go through the results. During that visit, my uterus was referred to as a "lady part." I got surprise bloodwork done ( gave 2 vials ) and was billed $10 since i didn't have it. The very next day i was called in again due to an employee "losing" all my bloodwork and had to give 4 this time. Still misgendered by all staff. I got sent several bills for my visit, one of which overcharged me for them losing my blood. I understand this is a Women's center but not everyone who may feel comfortable coming here would like to be mistreated like this. Especially if they overcharge you. read more

This place does not tell you ahead of time that you as the care taker will not be allowed to the back with the patient. Nobody in the facility offers any information as to what's going on with the patient or how you as the care taker can be helpful to the patient. I left this place not knowing how I could help my wife. She had been struggling to walk and talk so it would have been helpful for someone up there to fill me in on what they did to help her. How many weeks is she? Was her vital levels good? Was the baby in a healthy state? They. Gave us nothing more then what we came in with. We are definitely going somewhere else. read more

Honestly, I don't know where to even begin. I'll start with this. I went to them throughout my pregnancy with my 3rd child and they were WONDERFUL, but I also had a very uncomplicated pregnancy. That's the only reason I gave 3 stars. However, recently I went through some pretty traumatic events. I rushed to the hospital in Henry County which is also a Piedmont facility because it was closest to me at the time. I was having severe flank pain. I was diagnosed with a possible ectopic pregnancy and given methotrexate. They couldn't locate the pregnancy. Fine. Okay. I was asked to come back the following Monday to the same hospital for blood work and my HCG levels shot up significantly and I was told the shot was a massive failure and given another. Went to CWHS that Tuesday for a scheduled appointment and was turned away due to COVID concerns. I did not have COVID so I am unsure where this came from. I went back to the ER, this time in Newton County because I continued to have pain and was already in the area. Levels were checked and HCG went down slightly. I was sent home. The following day I had severe pains again and went back to Henry County because, to be quite honest, I did not feel my doctor was taking this seriously considering I was turned away for COVID after being diagnosed with a possible ectopic. Again, my HCG levels shot up and nothing could be found so they asked if I wanted to continue with surgery. I consented because at this point I was over the back and forth and was told the shot was not a success. I was honestly just scared my tube would rupture if I waited. Had my tube removed. 3 weeks later, I had an appointment with Shirley Samuels where I was basically berated about not coming to them about this issue or going to Piedmont Newton instead, knowing full well they turned me down at my actual doctor's. I was under the assumption that Piedmont systems are all the same and the results would be consistent in my chart. All this to say at my appointment today, I was told that I NEVER had an ectopic pregnancy and that that I should've never been given a second dose of the shot nor had surgery because it was only an infection in my tube. I also miscarried the actual pregnancy but when I called the on call doctor about huge clots of blood last week, I never got a call back. Yet, they want to make me feel bad because I didn't let them handle the issue when clearly, they didn't seem to want to handle the issue. read more

Dr. Samuels is very thoughtful, patient and thorough. She always addresses all my concerns and instructed me on the proper way to take my iron (no one has ever given me this info and I'm 50 yrs old). I feel important when I call or visit the office. The nurse is the ONLY one to ever draw blood and I didn't feel the needle! She was like my mommy (who was a nurse) -she soothed my fear and it was painless! I give the entire office 10 stars. read more

During the visit itself she provided good care. However since I was not able to see the part of my body she was telling me about, until I got home, I trusted her judgment in the office. I went home and did what was asked of me with NO relief what so ever. I called back to inform the office and doctor I saw that same day of the GREAT amount of pain and discomfort I was still in and they simply told me that if it was not better by Monday to come back then. THIS WAS ON A THURSDAY. I could hardly walk and sitting down was almost out of the question. I felt like the office just did not want to deal with my issue, when I tried my best to express that I needed immediate care. After their office told me that Thursday afternoon, I considered going to an urgent care facility for help. However, I was able to find an amazing women's nurse practitioner that listened to my problem and saw me that SAME Thursday afternoon at her office to thankfully provide me with the relief I greatly needed. I have been going to Covington Women's Health Specialist for over 5 years and have never felt such a lack of concern for my pain as I did that day. It was absolutely ridiculous and I will never go back again. read more

I was planning for a homebirth when at 38 weeks an ultrasound showed that we actually needed to go to the hospital immediately and we ended up having a cesarean the next day with Dr. Larrimore. I was beyond pleased with how everything went. While she may not have agreed with my personal choices, she was very accommodating. The nurses and staff were so great. I tested positive for COVID upon my arrival and everyone was still so sweet to us. I couldn't have asked for a better experience given the circumstances. read more

Please read and consider: This place is a disaster. During the early part of my wife's pregnancy with our first child, the docs there showed no bedside manor and continually pushed pills on her. They wanted her on anti-depressants at one point because she mentioned mood swings in one sentence of a conversation. They did not ask about family support, church support, if she thought she needed help, or whether she was having any other issues. They simply heard mood swings and immediately cut her off and said "we could try anti-depressants." Secondly, they provide no conversational education about what to expect with pregnancy. We hated this office so much, we changed doctors nine weeks in to her pregnancy. We prepaid some of our service, so when we changed, they owed us roughly $750. Fast forward to today, Nov 1st. Our daughter is over a month old. We left this place in APRIL. No contact about our money. We have called off and on to check on it since June. They finally told me 10 days ago they could cut the check, and they would let me know when it was mailed. I even offered to come by to make it easier on them. I have left three voicemails and received no response. They still have not gotten us our money. DO NOT deal with these people. They don't know how to operate a business or care for their customers. They make excuses constantly. They tried giving me the runaround about how it was the insurance company holding them up, but when I informed them I work in insurance and had already made sure our Carrier had no outstanding business with them, they magically were ready to cut the check. That was 10 days ago. Have I heard anything else? Not yet. Absolutely terrible business. In other news, Dr. Goggin in Athens is fantastic. read more

BEWARE!!!!!!! OFFICE STAFF TOO BUSY ACCOMMODATING THEIR OWN LAZINESS INCLUDING OFFICE MANAGER!!!! Went in for IUD 3mosPP, Dr bender was AMAZING! Needed to come back in early 2022 for possible UTI, made appt, packed myself and 4 momth old up got there 15 mins early and was denied care because my baby was with me!! RIDICULOUS!! thennnnnn come May-June I started having cramping and discomfort, scheduled to get IUD checked, they called and canceled ON ME first thing that morning and wanted to reschedule, no big deal, but wouldnt accomodate me having no child care since THEY had to reschedule!! Then they proceeded to tell me i could come in for ultrasound, no big deal, figured i would need one anyways, told i would get a call before the rescheduled appointment that afternoon to go over billing for U/S. Comes to about an hour before appt and im wondering whats going on, takes me 45 mins to get there so i call to see whats going on so i dont make a pointless trip, i am then told with an attitude that i was left a message on my chart!!! WHO THE HELL LEAVES A MESSAGE ON MYCHART!!! and expects someone to see it when they have been communicating over calls. I had to cancel appointment because i could not afford U/S. A week goes by and im still having issues and decided to make an appt to come in just to speak with Doctor, i get a reminder call today and am told dr white will inly see patients if they wear a mask (ok whatever at this point) then i am told that since i canceled two previous appts i would need to keep this one in order to continue being seen.... WTF?!? THEY CANCELED ON ME AND "RESCHEDULED" AT THEIR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE!! The office assistant the first go around even apologized telling me she forgot to tell me no one was allowed to come including a 4 month old who wouldnt do anything but sit in a stroller!! I immediately explained the situations and stated that they were wrong in accusing me of canceling and OF COURSE the receptionist and office manager GASLIGHTED me, accusing me of not seeing signs in the office and stating "All of my employees state no one else but aptient allowed" EXCUSE ME BITCH NO THE FUCK THEY DIDNT! She doesn't know what the hell she is talking about and neither do her dumbass receptionists!!!!!!!! I understand being concerned about getting sick and some people are more at risk but come the fuck on!!! I NEED TO BE SEEN FOR A PROBLEM VISIT AND THEY ARE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT MAKING SURE I KNOW HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS I HAVE SCHEDULED! She wanted to continue to say she had given me a solution to the rescheduling my rescheduling me to tomorrow..... ummm no,all that does is create conflict for me seeing i have to find child care and fork out $300 for an U/S to be evaluated when the IuD placement was nothing but my copay!!!! I wish I could put no stars. I have had the worst experience with this office. I moved here from FL in the summer of last year and needed a new gynecologist, I called around and found that Women's health accepted my insurance (blue cross) and they assured me my insurance covers annual exams completely. I went in for the annual exam in October. In January I get a bill from quest diagnostics. For over $300. I called the Women's Health and they assured me it was their mistake. They sent the labs to the wrong company and that if I didn't get a call from them to disregard the bill. One month later I received the bill again. Called Women's health again and this time they told me that's what it costs to get an annual exam. I checked with my insurance provider to find out that was incorrect. Called Woman's health again. They said oh quest diagnostics uses the wrong code you will need to call them and say it was just an annual. Tried doing that but nobody in the quest office would answer. Called Women's health AGAIN. They said they would figure it out and get back to me. Never did. Another month goes by and another bill comes in this time for $100, it said that my insurance paid for $200 but wouldn't cover the entire thing. Called Women's health AGAIN!!!!! Explained the whole situation for the 6th time! I was told they would get back to me. A month later and they never did. Now the bill has gone to the debt collector which is forcing me to pay it or ruin my credit. I just can't even believe this. All for an annual exam. I will NEVER go back to this office. read more

DO NOT USE THEM! They really don't guide you through your pregnancy at all, especially for a first time mom. You are passed from midwife to midwife, don't ever get to see a doctor so they're not all on the same page. My labor and delivery were awful!!!! I had an easy pregnancy so I didn't know to run the opposite direction. I was screaming in pain and they decided to drug me on Benadryl to try to shut me up. The nurses at the hospital felt bad for the lack of attention. The midwife literally only came in as baby's head was coming out. Thank God for the awesome nurses at Piedmont Newton's maternity ward. When I had a postpartum hemorrhage the midwife didn't tell me....she just started jumping on my stomach with my new baby on my chest and sewing me up without any pain relief after they knew my 2 epidurals failed. I was SCREAMING and had to pass my baby off to my husband. There was no information passed on to me about what to look for in future pregnancies or what the heck happened to make having a baby the worst experience of my life. I could not enjoy it one bit. Postpartum I went to the office and filled out a form about my depression and anxiety. After barely looking at it they said looks like you're good and sent me on my way. A huge disregard to how to patient is doing and feeling and no information given. I would never go here again! read more

Beware of this place! I had a routine outpatient surgery to remove pre-cancerous cells from my cervix. Dr. Bender did that surgery in April 2016, she did not get all of the cancerous cells once the pathology from my first surgery came back, so I had to go for a second surgery on June 2016. This day changed my life forever! During the surgery she punctured a hole in my bladder and also damaged the ureter to my left kidney. I went through eight months of pain and suffering. I needed four surgeries from different kidney specialists trying to repair the damage that was inflicted on me during this cervical surgery. I had to wear a urinary bag for months I could not leave my house. One of my kidney surgeries required 30 staples down the center of my stomach and the other one across my stomach with 28 staples. I am forever scarred and damaged mentally and physically, because of Dr. Bender and they take no accountability at all and ignore our letters and photographs sent to them asking for help trying to pay all of my medical bills trying to correct the damage she inflicted upon me! My Kidney doesn't function properly to this day and I'm constantly in the hospital fighting infections and abscesses because of her negligence. My kidney will never function the same and I will be on medication for the rest of my life! She has not had to suffer any consequences for the damage she's done to me and she continues to practice. Be very careful of what you sign before you go into surgery because this allows the doctors to do whatever they want to you with no repercussions. I'm posting this because I do not want this happening to anyone else. read more

Dr Larrimore and her midwives were great when I had my first son in 2015. They made sure everything went as smooth as it could during my pregnancy considering the complications that kept arising. When it came time to face the fact I would have to go into a csection Dr Larrimore and Barbra both made sure to explain everything to me so there would be nothing that I would be scared of, even though in reality I was terrified. I'll be coming back here if I ever have another child, and I continue to use them for my gyno needs. read more
