After my wife and I set up at the Family Paradise campground, we wanted to go out and Cowbell was recommended to us by the staff. We made the drive, not too far really. It's a beautiful large building! Well kept and clean! Our server, Jessie, did a great job informing us of the menu and specials. She was professional and personable! We ordered pretzel bites as an appetizer and adult beverages. I ordered their IPA. The pretzel bites were kind of chewy and the mustard sauce was in between. Not sure exactly what they were trying to do with it. It wasn't too sweet and it wasn't too hot. I really was not impressed that much with the IPA, I ordered another just to make sure, same results. My wife's Buffalo ranch pizza was large and well appointed; however, we just weren't sure about the flavors. My fish and chips was huge! I really enjoyed the fish! We went to cowbell for a birthday dinner and were pleased with our experience. Most of us ordered flights of beer allowing us to sample 4 different kinds, I also ordered the Hijinx seltzer which was sweet. The food was good, especially the bacon jam burger. The service was quick and polite. The restaurant itself had a country feel, with barn doors and wooden tables. Of course the brewery also had a gift shop with a lot of souvenir items. Overall, cowbell was a lovely place for dinner and drinks, I only wish the weather had been nicer to experience the patio. read more

I swung in here on a chilly Monday in late June, figuring it would probably be more memorable and delicious than the Tim Horton's that the sign on the bike trail was trying to direct me towards. I was not to be disappointed. I went with the hot chicken sandwich for lunch, which was pretty tasty and well flavored, albeit not as hot as when I had hot chicken in Nashville. Still, it can border on too hot in Nashville, so "medium" heat is not all bad. Sweet potato fries made for an excellent side. Cowbell makes both cider and beer - how cool is that? - and I went for a peach cider. Tasty, medium-sweet, maybe not the best cider I've had all year but good enough that rather than venture back out into the cold, I decided to stay and have more Cowbell. And after sampling a couple, the blueberry lemonade sour was the winner. If you like sours, this seasonal one is not to be missed. Both the lemons and blueberries were noticeable, with that distinctive sour tartness that sets them apart from other styles of beer. If I'd tried that one first, it would have been hard to switch away from it! They also offer flights, and even label the beers/ciders on the flight tray. In retrospect, that may have been the way to go, but since I didn't, I'll just have to go back someday. The bartenders also win points for being friendly and good at their job. I chatted with three of them while I was there and would be happy to run into any of them on a future visit. The building itself is also really nice, inside and out. It reminded me of BrewDog's brewery in Ohio, perfectly done up, views of the brewing area, nice long tables, even a gift shop area if I remember, a quality experience all around. I forgot to check if they have shuffleboard, and I don't think they have a hotel with beers on tap in the room, but it's currently in my top 5 list for breweries to visit based on the overall experience. read more

Stopped here on our way to Tobermory. This is the first time we've been back to Canada since the pandemic started. We were asked for proof of vaccination when we arrived, which was awesome! I'm happy to see businesses taking Covid seriously! Definitely a welcome change from Ohio. Was also happy to see spacing still enforced with indoor tables! This is a truly amazing spot. It's absolutely beautiful and the beers are great. The Hubster and I stopped here on our way to Goderich. It was about 3pm on a Thursday, so it wasn't very busy. We sat out on the patio, which is mostly great, except for the breeze that sometimes travels in from nearby farms. I ordered the lamb burger without the goat cheese, and it was fabulous. Just a delicious mix of flavours. The Hubster got a pizza, which he said was a bit too dry. We ordered a flight of beers, which were all very different and quite good. We ended up buying a few of our favourites in the gift shop on the way out. This is a must-visit spot if you're in the area. read more

The building is impressive inside and out which pains me all the more to have to write this review. The food, all around was bad. All 3 of us disliked our food. Two of us had hamburgers which were dry and overcooked. No flavor to the meat which was covered with a very strong sauce. Would rather have tasted the meat with less sauce. One person had the pork sandwich which they also thought was dry and over sauced. Jalapeno cornbread - needed a magnifying glass to see the jalapenos. Come one, my kids can do better than that. The portion sizes vs the price is what really annoyed us. Hamburgers and sandwiches were so small for the price charged. We will not be returning because of it. I have not felt as cheated in a long time at a restaurant as I did here. Spent so much money and got so little. Will not be returning. read more

So easy to give a good review. The beer is obviously top notch. The portions are perfect, the food is delicious and mostly locally sourced, staff is always helpful. It's always spotless and I've never had to wait longer than expected for food, regardless of it always being busy (that's a good sign given how many tables there are). It lives up to expectations. Kelly's pizza or legit any burger on the menu is the way to go. Always give the specials a chance too. Often, it's them giving some of the cooks free reign to try something new, and it's usually phenomenal. read more

We have eaten here before and had a great experience. Today was just so so. The hostess who seated us was obviously not happy to be there. We were in early at 11:30 so it was pretty quiet and there were plenty of tables available. When we asked to look at another ta le it was apparent that she was not pleased. The beer was good as usual. My wife had the roasted red pepper noodle soup and she enjoyed it. She also had the bruschetta and it was almost inedibleI. It was mass amounts of tomatoes on bread and cream spread. The bread was soggy and she only ate half. To their credit they refunded half. I had the chicken and corn chowder and onion rings. We have eaten here around a dozen times over the past 3 years. First, don't even think of eating here any night of the week in the summer without a reservation (which you need to make at least 1 or 2 weeks in advance). The place is crazy popular, but I think that is due largely to the great atmosphere (beautiful building inside and out), the excellent beer selection and the Blythe festival (when it is running). Unfortunately, the food is overpriced and often mediocre. The service is also almost always extremely slow - expect to wait at least an hour between the time you sit down and the arrival of any food at your table. That said, we will continue to eat here as the kids like it and the beer and atmosphere makes up for the other shortcomings - and there really isn't a lot else to choose from in the area. read more

Myself and 7 other guy rode our motorcycles up to the cowbell from Strathroy last night. They seated us where we requested not to be seated when we made the reservations. We told them and they moved us to another table away from the garbage bin, flies,and air conditioner. The girls moved umbrellas around to try and keeps us in the shade. Everyone that waited on us were very pleasant and accommodating. The beer was cold and the food was good. They need to bring back the nachos which were deleted from the menu. The place is beautiful and we enjoyed our ride up in the Huron countryside. I'm sure we will be back again sometime soon. Amazing looking place. We made reservations on Monday and arrived early, they were very accommodating and seated us early. I don't know if our waitress had to adjust her schedule but she was very unpleasant, she never smiled and answered with basically a stare. It was a really small burger. Almost like a slider or half a burger. Not enough fries. Kinda of a fancy serving on a wooden platter but over half of it was empty. Truffle fries weren't crisp. Soft and limp with very little truffle flavouring. The dipping sauce was delicious but we felt like We were eating grocery frozen fries. Pizza-kinda soggy. Feeds 2 but you would need something on the side. Sweet potato fries- delicious but never enough! Served in a fancy basket...would like to see just a bigger pile on a plate to be honest. Dessert-peanut butter pie had funny taste. Texture good but off. So would love to see the food and servings improved. Found the menu is really limited. It could be great if menu, food and servings were improved. Probably won't go back for a while to see if any changes have been made to food but will continue to buy their beer. The tacos were a delicious slaw salad inside a corn tortilla. The fries were fresh-cut russets and freshly fried to perfection. Service a little slow but it was the middle of the afternoon.
