In the courtyard each morning at 7am, the owner or a representative would make omelet's, custom made to your order and they were prepared on an original covered chuck-wagon. First, the hospitality and management are down to earth. Very friendly and were able to answer all our questions. They have a small store with some basics.. mustard, ketchup, and beer to name a few items. Very friendly. Second, the campsite was very reasonable considering full hookups and pull through. The campsites do share water, meaning one main water faucet that is split between two campsites. The pressure isn't a problem at all. Our problem was that my camper's water was on the front left of the camper. Given the sharing, my original 20 or so foot water hose couldn't reach. Our fault for not having an extension, but we ended up having to park the other way with the camper to hook up the water. Bottom line: we are newbie campers, so just make sure you have an extension. Lesson learned. They do have a cool little lake/pond that offers fishing and swimming as well as boat rentals. Water is clear and they have it sectioned off to prevent swimming too deep. Finally, you are within 5 or so minutes of Cold Brook Reservoir, an Army Corp of Engineers recreation area. They have a super nice beach, and facilities there. You are also within minutes of the cool little town of Hot Springs. If you are looking for a cool and out of the way campground with all the amenities, check this place out!

Every evening I was able to sit on the hill in a quiet and peaceful place to meditate. The lake is super clear and feels amazing, I felt like the water was healing. There is water sports activities to rent. There is cute cabins if you don't have an RV. There is laundry and a store to get things you need. My dogs loved going walking around the lake and the trails. I felt like I was in a high end resort with all the amenities. The price is rather cheap for what all your getting. The views and the environment are very peaceful! If your looking for a place in the black hills this is one that is worth the drive from the parks and gives you so much serenity.

Ayus and his wife drove us into town to a mechanic to rent a car. When the shop was closed they called their friend who agreed to drive us. I don't know what we would have did if we didn't get that ride. Ayus and his wife keep the place clean. The gardens are well kept and it is a peaceful sitting outside. They always have coffee, snacks, and fruit waiting for when you wake up. It has the feel like you took a walk back in time to the 50s. It was really cool!

That's a good sign if you're looking for quiet. I checked in and was given room #13. Yes, it ran through my mind, uh oh, unlucky number 13. But doom and gloom weren't in the cards for me. Quite the contrary. Number 13 was exceptionally clean and comfortable. My host was friendly and helpful when it came to suggesting a place for dinner. Though trying to follow his directions found me at an oil refinery. LoL! Again, no GPS. I eventually backtracked and ended up where I started to. Quick Tip: At your next stop at a store, pick up some cheap double AA batteries and shove them into your suitcase. You'll be glad you did when your remote for the TV doesn't work. No having to go through the hassle of getting dressed and making your way to the front desk or waiting for maintenance to get to your room. Just pop them in, and you're set. As I had to do at The Pines. It didn't take but a minute before I could watch the mindless dribble which spewed forth. Oh, don't forget to pull your batteries before you leave. In my (quite extensive) experience, you should not expect these in American hotels under $80/ night. Nor should you expect pillow top beds or nice towels!!! You dont get those at cheap hotels. Excellent service from start to finish. The room we stayed in had an en-suite bathroom, both were appointed quite nicely and very comfortable. The shared living room area was also very nice, clean and comfortable!! Breakfast was catered to our requests and was delicious. The location is in the pine trees, no noise except when the local deer population starts to come around and the neighbor's dogs might bark a few times at them :-) we even got to say hi to the BnB's goats down in their pen.
