small Irish with toast and coffee for a fiver
    Yvonne B.

A new café in the neighbourhood? And so close to SLICE? I wonder what they'll do differently and what organic/paleo/hand roasted by nuns explanation is supposed to make me pay 4.50Euro for a cup of coffee. But no, none of that ...stuff. This is a lovely, American-style diner for ....well people. For locals. I mean local locals not blow-ins. There was the guy in a suit reading his paper, a tourist and his guide to Dublin, some school kids from across the road and a couple of OAPs having their breakfast that day. And then there was me; asking for the wifi code. Many different breakfast options (also lunch and dinner but I only had breakie here so far) and very reasonable, too. A small Irish for a fiver including bottomless coffee. Sure, it's not the best coffee you ever had but you could get tea instead and just sit and read or work on your blog or Christmas wish list or whatever and the lovely waitress and just walks past and refills your mug. I think this place is a great addition for the area, offering simple food to regular people. Think Central Perk and you are pretty close.

Good old school caf with a healthier edge. Some traditional Dublin menu items thrown in give this a unique appeal. Food is very good.

The queue moves very fast anyway. A lot of staff behind the counter. Their bread is orgasmic. They also make up big rolls for take away. Also amazing and very reasonably priced and HUGE! With really nice homemade coleslaw! If you decide to sit in to eat I would most certainly recommend it. Their breakfasts are one of the best in Dublin. Anything from a Full Irish to poached eggs and yummy brown bread. AMAZEBALLS...... ^_^

Given this, I must say that Clarkes is one of the few places in dublin to offer a beautifully slutty fry at a very reasonable price! The staff are super friendly too. Went in for a breakfast for two and got the Clarkes special full Irish breakfast and we were not disappointed. The food was made fresh while we found a table (these are all cleaned regularly so the place looks great). We asked not to have black pudding and instead hash browns and this was done without a bother and the coffee we got with the food was made in a barrister type machine and was frothy and tasty! We were thirsty so I asked to get a bottle of water however the staff were so nice they whipped out a jug of cold water and just gave us two glasses for free insisting that I take it rather than pay! For a full breakfast and coffee it was a mere 7 euro!!! I will be returning to this place without a doubt!!

I was wanting to try something authentically Irish. I went with the Black Pudding Sausage Roll. I have never had black pudding before & was going to give it a try. Its appearance was different than what I had envisioned but again I have never had it. The roll was quite tasty. My wife looked at the blacken pastry log with both discuss & curiosity. She looked up let her judgement down & speed to the internet for this mysterious beginning. Upon, learning of it origin asked if I had known what the contents were of this darken beast. Knowing the context of the question & that she would inform me of my potential horror I pressed on. The Black Pudding Sausage Roll was finished before the origins could be revealed. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has never experienced a true Irish meal.

They allegedly serve an authentic Irish breakfast, which I had to try. It is all mostly delicious, affordable, and the service is friendly and fast to boot. The plate is arrayed beautifully, with the beans, sausage, rashers, and eggs tasting fresh. The generous amount of toast more than makes up for the heavy meats on the plate. Unfortunately I was not a fan of the pudding, and the hash browns did look a tad greasy, but the tomato and mushroom make up for them. They added good texture and balance to the meal. Sit back and relax, or get to work early and enjoy a nice breakfast here. It is a great way to start your day off right.

The space is rather small, as most coffee shops are, and the prices are a bit up there, but all the coffee they make holds its own against some of the best- no Starbucks quality here- and the food is amazing. Speaking of, if you haven't tried their hotcakes slathered with berries, compote, and some of the most decadent whipped cream you've ever tasted, you haven't lived life to the fullest. It was so sweet, it was almost too much for me to finish, but I won't complain about such a delicious sugar rush this early in the morning. If you're not the "dessert for breakfast" type, they also have your typical avocado toast- don't ask me why that's a thing here, too- eggs, breakfast meats, and of course, porridge. Or, if you're not the breakfast type, they do have some bomb-looking pastries available all day, every day, including vegan options. These guys must also be pretty well-established given that they have merch available for purchase, on top of their perishables. And really, the coffee here is amazeballs. If you come for nothing else, come for that.
