Busy Feet is a really nice little place set in the centre of Dublin's unofficial café district, South William St. Busy Feet is across the road from Metro Café and next door to another coffee shop, but Busy Feet is head and shoulders above the competition in one aspect: it's food. Busy Feet do amazing cooked breakfasts, and their sandwiches and paninis and such are pretty top-notch, too. The decor inside is really nice: all tiles and really big old-style beer taps (oh yeah, and Busy Feet is a licenced premises, so full bar and open til half eleven). There are tables out in front, and a small outdoor area out the back as well. Here's the thing, though: for sitting outside, Metro Café across the road is better. For one thing, Metro has more seats, but it's also just nicer for some reason. I realise that they are so close that it is essentially the same 'outside' that you are sitting in, but most of Metro's seating has south-facing aspect so it catches the sun more. And there is some sort of intrinsic quality of 'outsideyness' that Metro possesses that Busy Feet lacks. The food in Metro is pretty dire, though, and the food in Busy Feet is damn good, and there isn't actually anything wrong with Busy Feet's outdoor seating, so Busy Feet is overall a good bet. So head down to Busy Feet in the morning for a scrumptious cooked breakfast, then head over to Metro for coffee and posing while smoking fags, and then back to Busy Feet when it has reached a socially acceptable time to start drinking. I ve been to the busyfeet cafe quite often lately, so I thought time for a review. I think the name busyfeet matchs the place perfectly fine. Or at least the waiters are on extremely busy feet, I think I never got my orders that fast after just deciding for one of the lovely lunch dishes and a cappuccino. I had the goat cheese salad highly recommend and my friend had a chicken brie sandwich which we enjoyed while scanning the menu for further visits to this place. The atmosphere is really cozy and nice, perfect to have lunch after shopping around town or just meeting for a coffee with friends. read more

Came here on a Sunday around lunch time and it was pretty packed. Looking at the menu, it's all pretty standard lunch items like sandwiches, salads and ciabattas. I had the tuna nicoise salad which was decent serving and didn't take too long to come despite the crowds. The breakfast/ brunch menu is mainly eggs, toast, muesli etc.. kind of standard breakfast items. They also have a good few desserts like cakes, brownies and tarts. The inside is a bit on the small and narrow side, but they have some nice outdoor seating. The service is good, the coffee is great and the food is quite cheap. A good place to stop by for a coffee/ tea and food, but not the kind of place to go out of your way for. read more

It's the kind of cafe where readers and writers can find a quiet spot to muse (I know a friend who used to bring along his typewriter and get creative here) and mates can nestle in for a chat. I've enjoyed some scrummy chocolate cake here and the bar means that you can also indulge in something a bit stronger - so the danger that lunches will turn boozy is constantly there! I found myself in the same area as the Metro Cafe, and wanting to stay adventurous, I decided to not go to the same place twice. This is how I stumbled across Busy Feet & Coco Cafe. It was bustling when I arrived, but service did not falter, and I was served promptly. Two cups of coffee and a salmon and cream cheese bagel later, I sat in the sun wishing that I could do it all over again. The coffee was perfect - although I am realizing most places seem to get coffee right. Perhaps I am just not as picky as I used to be. The bagel was lightly toasted, with smooth cream cheese, the perfect amount of dill and lovely smoked salmon. I suppose it is difficult to get it wrong... But I did get the feel that the little cafe was trying for more, and the menu suggested as much - slightly more up market tastes and choices. The price reflected this. But at least you know what you are getting. It seems it is a wine bar as well, so I shall have to pop in sometime again to get the full experience! I love this place. I have been there countless times, gone through their small but satisfying menu and everything it consistently tasty. I'm most familiar with their soup & sandwich deals and they are all perfect, if not a little too small. I've also had their breakfast multiple times, and while it is not the best I've had in Ireland, it still fills a whole very well. They always have fresh juice and good coffee. This is a place where you'll never be badly surprised, you will always get what you came here for, no more, no less. I would love to see more places like this one, where you can have coffee after 5 pm and not have have to risk your health on the battery juice they serve in pubs. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the service surprisingly fast considering the quality of the food. This place is the only alternative to the pub/restaurant life in the city centre and when it decides to open later, I'll come back to this page and give it that 5th star! read more

This used to stay open late on summer nights which was handy for non-drinkers but they've changed that. They also need a huge sign with their name on it so people can find it easier. But I love their tea and coffee selection. Their Orego Chai Tea is lovely and you can sit here for ages and keep ordering teas and coffees and cakes. The inside is so pretty, lovely wallpaper, mirrors and some nice outdoor seating at the back. Less crowded than Metro Cafe opposite, but a much more chill vibe, cute place for a pre-dinner drink or post-dinner coffee. Can actually hear yourself talk, and the candles on the table add to the mediterranean atmosphere at night. read more

This is a great little no-frills cafe that serves really nice soups, sandwiches and salads. There's plenty of seating inside and a little outdoor terrace too - so it's a great place to people-watch if the weather is being in any way obliging (which isn't very often boo!) and though the menu isn't overly exciting, the food is really fresh and the portions are generous - making it a great lunch spot. Walking around in search of a decent cafe that could do skinny fries for my niece's birthday lunch, we settled for this place. OK, no fries, but a burger was a good alternative. OK, now their burgers are upwards of 9 euros, and I don't mind paying that, even for the one she ordered, which was a simple beef patty + ketchup on a bun. BUT, where did it all go wrong..? I'll tell you - I got my carrot cake and coffee, and my wife had her salad served up fairly promptly, but there was quite a wait for the burger to show! The below average goats cheese salad was accompanied by some dry, hard bread (apparently, that's what happens when you toast it... according to the staff) - no thanks! Here's the big disappointment though - the burger came out on a burnt bun (blackened on both sides), and after a quick taste test, was sent back to be remade. The second version was the original patty served up again with more ketchup than you've seen on Evil Dead! I mean, how can you tell if you're getting beef when all you can taste is sweet sloppy tomato goo? There you birthday girl! Only 9 euros, thanks! After some poor excuses by the management, they decided to deduct the coffee from our bill. WTF? The burger was the elephant in the room, not the coffee! So there you go folks, toasted bread turns into rock, charred buns take a little longer than usual and these guys are obviously doing pretty poor business as they can only afford to compensate a third of the cost of an overpriced, burnt, ketchup-drenched burger. Busyfeet and Coco - how unfortunate! The competition either side of you on the street are doing very well (so well, in fact, that we couldn't get an outside seat). You get the minimum of one star only because your coffee was drinkable and your waitress did a good job! We will not be back. read more

This has to be one of my favourite cafes in town. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and even though the tables are tiny and you are pretty much sitting on the lap of the person on the next table, it is a great place. I met Glen Hansard of the Frames in here, but usually it's just a lot of regulars enjoying their fairtrade coffees and sandwiches. The staff are really nice, the food is great- even though the portions sometimes could be bigger- and they have some lovely teas and cakes as well. I usually go for the French sandwich- brie, avocado and cucumber- and a latte and I've never been disappointed. Found ourselves around South William street looking for a bite to eat, a.k.a. a sandwich. For some bizarre reason Metro Cafe were not serving sandwiches at 4.30 pm, so we headed over here. Very impressed by the friendly, quick, and attentive service. And more importantly by the food - we split a BLT and a tuna melt, which were both delicious. Coffee was also good. Plus... I know it's a little detail but in comparison to Metro Cafe it was nice to have a decent space between tables, and not feel like a sardine in a tin. read more

So........ Normally my Sunday morning ritual lands me in taste next door. Maybe I caught these guys on a particuarly bad day but the level of cheer was on par with a group in a funeral home(sorry guys had to be said) I ordered a double machiato (which was awesome) and a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel........I ate it, honestly I would eat anything.........however the bagel was hard. I've been here a fair few times now and the one thing that always stands out is the service and the servers; I'd be hard pressed to think of a coffee shop I've gone to in the city centre that has nicer staff. Usually I wander in and am almost instantly greeted by a member of staff, even if they're pottering about with someone else's order or doing anything else, they let me know that I'm seen & will be seen to in very short order. As far as the food goes, it's ok, nothing amazing, but very good for sitting down with a coffee and chatting with a friend in place with a nice lively atmosphere. On that note, the coffee is great. I'm working my way through the menu, and while nothing stands out as being "the best", it's all "very good" as a standard. On another note, the thing that makes Busy Feet a frequent receiver of my coffee-money? Narrow-ish tables. Ok, ok, small tables mightn't be the best if you're sharing a table with 2 other people and you all got food- but think about it this way- there is literally no place for a person to park themselves down and take up space with a laptop. People with laptops pretty much characterize most (definitely a majority of) coffee shops in the city centre. My pet peeve is having a waiter tell me "Sorry, we don't have any free seats at the moment" when there's one person sitting alone at a table for 4 people, with a laptop and their Facebook page apparently needing priority updating! With Busy Feet you know that if you can't get a seat it's not because some 'poser' is squatting on a table with a laptop & smart-phone- it's because the place is busy, and deservedly so.
