After a seriously awful experience today (unauthorized changes to my service and being hung up on), I checked their Google corporate link to see if anyone at Cox is watching and has stopped to check their ratings on Google - They are Awful or worse than my experience today! It appears the same is largely true here on Yelp. We are 40+ year customers of Cox and I've had enough experience with Cox customer service over those years to see the negative change that's been occurring for a while now. What happened? If Cox isn't checking their customer satisfaction scores here in Google or Yelp for their stores and unaware, they should be alarmed and so should you if you're reading this and thinking of contracting with Cox for home internet. If tho, as I'm guessing their zeal and drive for sales from upstairs has left any interest in their public facing legitimacy behind, it's not a surprise. Here we go again, another month - another surprise in my bill. Now a new charge for $3.99 + $0.26 tax for a on demand/pay per view The Omen HD on a specific date. Again on the phone, calling India call center and now it's third time, but in my case it's not a charm, I have to pay it (I was told that my TV account is impossible to hack), so this was the bad news. An update to my 2018 review of Cox Cable chat service. I have the "bundle" and noticed on my bill that I no longer use two of the optional services subscribed. Using the chat service was the best idea, given my alternative was to find and visit a Cox store. It was a horrendous experience. The agent simply substantially hindered my attempts to unsubscribe to the two services. It took me about 45 minutes to get this simple request accomplished using chat. After the first 20 minutes of frustration I asked for a "Supervisor", since I was getting nowhere. Nope, request denied. After 20 more minutes of back and forth chat, I finally was able to accomplish my simple request. That's when the upselling started and it was painful, believe me. Anybody who thinks working with Cox is a reasonably pleasant experience, please think again. read more

Our internet connection outside the house went bad yesterday afternoon. Literally nothing works, phones sucking up data, disabled computers and TV, alarm clocks. We were given FA appt for 48 hours past the outage. I called to have them come today. When finally connected to a person in another country with very poor english comprehension, he kept pausing our conversation and was consulting an AI chatbot. Kept saying "thanks chat" off to the side. Then he starts with. "I see you have been a cox customer for 28 years and we want to thank you by welcoming you to the Cox care club. You get the earliest available appointment" I said you care so much we get to be without internet for 48 hours? Yeah I don't think so. Time to switch cable providers read more

The customer service representative was impatient and rude. It took me 3 calls to get some channels remove because they raised the price again to $340 per month now. I used the Chat and took me an hour, then I called the next day to follow then the rude representative hanged up on me so I have to call again. I tried switching from Direct TV, I signed up with cox, but they sent me a box with equipment for me to install, I don't have working hookups at home, so I needed help with installation...does anyone know how to ask Cox bots to get you some help? First off if I could give them -5 stars I would. We have had cox for years TV, Internet they would give us a promotion price then down the road the price would go way up and we would get another promotion price to keep us as customers, we finally had to drop the tv we just couldn't afford it so we got just internet and same game the other day my wife called them and they wanted $170.17 from $144.00 just for internet that is totally ridiculous,so we took back there internet equipment and went with T-Mobile 5G internet, so far it is working out good and Cox can kiss our ass's good bye. They are a terrible company and their customer service is terrible also, when we called to cancel service they tried really hard to make deals for us to stay with them they are a total joke. They had a monopoly for our area for years. But now we are free of Cox and there taking advantage of us as customers. When you call customer service they try and offer you all kinds of things to try and keep you, it's just there way of wasting your time. Customer service is terrible and a lot of the time I have a hard time understanding them if they work in customer service on the phone all the time they should be able to speak English clearly. It is very obvious Cox doesn't care about the service they provide and they don't care about the customers. I have commented on them in the past and am no longer a customer. This review is about getting my deposit back. I left Cox due to a tenant leaving and no longer needing broadband. I had had a horrible experience with the installation. The quality of the service once finally installed was good. When the tenant left I tried to do their service suspension which charges a lower monthly but allows easy startup when needed. I figured the unit would be vacant for several months so it seemed like a good idea. It turned out to be a nightmare. What should be an easy process on the app turned out to involve several calls and lots of time on the phone. I finally just cancelled. Cox made it easy to return the equipment. You just take it to a Fedex place and they do it for free. What was awful was getting my $50 deposit back. There was no help in that on their website or app. It took me several phone calls. I was first told it would go back on my credit card in 4 to 6 business days. It did not. I called again and they said about 4 weeks. Again no refund on the card so I called again. This time they said to wait until the middle of May with no explanation as to why I kept getting different timelines. Finally, completely unexpected, a check arrived at the rental property mailbox. But the check was for $47.46, not $50.00. Absolutely no explanation on the website or app for that. I am not going to waste another second on this but just a warning: AVOID COX IF POSSIBLE. read more

Internet, and tv were down all day yesterday. They promised it would be back up by 6:30 PM. Partial service was restored by about 8:30, but went down again very soon after. Went to bed at 11:30 with the service still down. Customer service is run by stupid bots. If you demand to talk to a human being you will be connected to one after a long wait and they will answer your questions by typing them into a terminal and telling you what the bots are telling them to say. After a very annoying initial setup COX internet worked fine for two years. I attempted to transfer my services to a new location, and it was unsuccessful. If I could have gotten help with diagnosing and successfully troubleshooting I would have continued services. However accessing customer service is simply not possible, unless you attempt to cancel your account in which case you must talk to a human. After going this route I gave them one last shot, I've been on the phone for 40 minutes and have been transferred 4 times. If your weighing two different options, go with the other. read more

When you call to ask for an update you are forced to deal with a pre recorded message and an effort to prevent you from speaking to an actual person. When you do, you wish you hadn't! Apathetic, unhappy employees who have no business dealing with the public. This company has always been the bottom of the barrel, but they seem to be striving to beat their own record of incompetence and rudeness. Many of the residents affected by the fire are seniors and would probably like a way to contact their families and insurance companies. Bad equipment, non-existent service. Their phone screening system doesn't work. No matter what number you press, it will continue to say "I didn't get that" until it finally hangs up on you. That is, if your Cox phone is still working. Thank goodness for Verizon, or I would be completely isolated. The Cox chat doesn't work either. To add insult to injury, if you call to tell them your internet isn't working, they will prompt you to go to their website (!). After an hour or so, you will get through to some hack in India, who will babble incomprehensibly in something approximating English while finding obvious delight in offering no help at all. After about 3 days without internet, you may get a technician to come out to tell you the problem is the Cox equipment you've had for only a year, that was almost certainly "reconditioned" when installed, and that you've had the privilege of paying rent for during that year. Trying to get a refund for the days without service (the nerve of not wanting to pay for something you didn't get!) will take another couple of days and more chats with a gaggle of goons in India. If you liked them when they were denying you service, you'll love them when they're denying you refunds. If you can hang on long enough, you may get a promise of a refund. I won't hold my breath. I've already dropped their cable. I'm now exploring alternatives to their internet. I suggest you do the same. read more

Noticed bill went from $70 a month to $110 with no notification. I was surprised since I had a two year locked in pricing with over a year left on rate. When I contacted customer service I was told my pricing had expired. I asked for management to discuss. I was transferred to customer retention who stated my pricing discount had expired and then offered me $90 a month. I refused and located documentation that showed I was still in a locked pricing plan. I called back for a third time and quoted the date of the discount plan and the expiration date the customer service rep immediately confirmed and proceeded to update my bill to the correct $70 pricing. If you don't fight they will try to overcharge you. As soon as ATT fiber is available I will leave cox to never return. Highly priced, poor customer service and hidden billing charges. read more

Cox's transition to using Yahoo Mail is terrible, the worst I have ever seen. I stay with Cox only because of history. There internet service is expensive and good, but email is awful...lots of SPAM, difficult to navigate, etc. I've been on email since 1975 with dozens of service providers and they are definitely the worst I have ever experienced. Presumably it was a high level decision to save a few dollars, but the result should chase peopele away. As soon as there is a good ISP alternative, I will be gone. Just awful! read more

Are we helpless against Cox ?customer service is horrible, They agree to some changes and give you a confirmation number, but when you get home you find that they do whatever they want. Set prices you didn't agree, they make changes in your channel lineup without notice, they Send you equipment that you don't need or requested. It's almost impossible to deal with this people. In February I called customer service to get some reduction on my bill,because it increased all of a sudden. I spent 3 hours on the phone with this representative that was located in Panama.and the agreement was a fixed amount every month, and guess what ? The new bill came high again, they don't honor what they say on the phone. On 4-2-2026 called again and this representative was in India. Another waste of time on the phone, He said he was going to help me. He ended up saying that my channels would remain the same and that my package deal was the best. Today 4-4-2026 suddenly they removed almost all of my channels leaving me only the basic cable but with the price of Premium. At this point I'm very disappointed and frustrated. What is going on with Cox!!! I have been with this company for 37 years. DVR problem's this year, that were finally corrected. (Third party for DVR's had a problem with their upgrades.) This was finally corrected. Since then, have had interminet DVR/Streaming problems. This past couple of weeks it has gotten worse... to this weekend horrible. I have spent at least 4 hours with in the past 48 hours multiply phone calls trying to get this resolved. Twice now I have been out 2 TV's, out of three in the home. I'm currently on hold now, 45 minutes, waiting for a Manager. I have had to almost litigate to get to this point, "on hold to speak to a Manager". This is after a Supervisor told me that Manager's do not take phone calls! (Not true.) Then was told transferring me to a Manager, only to find out I was transferred to Customer Service. I love Cox, however I am so frustrated. I'm currently out another TV. While this is not catastrophic, I am not getting the services I am paying for with the repeated "TV turns off in the middle of a streaming show or DVR show" or "in the middle of a show you can't hear the talking, then get a blank screen, then back to can seeing the show but can't hear anything". I would like to stay with Cox, however there is a firm push back from my family to change, after being with Cox for 37 years. HELP!!!!! And still on hold!!!!!!! I have Cox for internet and home phone service. I wanted to cancel my phone service. I tried to do it online but they force you to speak to a customer disservice rep. I gave them my name, address, home phone number, cell phone number, email address, and account number. They said they needed some four digit code underneath the account number. They put a barcode so far to the right side of the page on a paperless bill that you can't see enough of it to scan it or see the numbers underneath it. Then they asked a security question I think my former spouse had given them 20 years ago when we started service. I switched to a paper bill just so I can get a full four digit barcode and cancel not only the phone service but internet as well. Wyred is coming next week. Getting 5G with Wyred for less than what Cox charges for 2G. read more

Cox made unauthorized changes to my plan in Nov 2024. I called to fix it. Rep said it was fixed. Now it's February 15th, and I am still trying to get my billing corrected. I've been on the phone with Cox for over 40 mins and going in circles. It's comedy at this point. Another issue with Cox installer...my neighbor is having Cox installed. It's taking 3 visits, and they have to enter my property to do this. Installer entered my closed gate, left the gate open, and my dog got out, and was missing for hours! Thankfully my baby was found.
