Cox Communications is a great company. So this review does nit necessarily reflect Cox necessarily, but the contractors they send out need to provide great service tgat represents Cox Communications. Today I FEEL LIKE I WAS ROBBED. The service we paid for was not provided by the vendors. 1st they could not find the power supply. So, alternatively they connected installed and connected a Security System with wires exposed inside as well as outside of our new home. When I asked about the ravel3d wires next to the cameras, there response was we can't do anything about it because the wires are just that long. After the work was done there were no paper to sign, which I thought was rather strange. I hope Cox Communications does handle this for us in the right way and then I will update my review. Well this morning (Saturday) they did show up at 8:00 for an 8:00 to 10:00 window. The technician did bring the modem. So far so good but then there was trouble due to the tech not knowing where, in this multi-owner building, the Cox switching box was. I think most of the over 100 owners who have broadband there use Cox. I am pretty sure that it is the only non satellite provider on the property. So you would think the Cox data base would flag this order as a multi unit property and make sure anyone going there knew where the box was. My tenant had to walk around the parking structure with the guy for over a half hour until they found it. In the end we got hooked up but both the tenant and I wasted a lot of time dealing with their incompetence. read more

I live in Santee, CA. A technician explained yesterday that Cox has not installed fiberoptic transmission lines in Santee. They're still using old co-ax underground cables and they are expected to fail on a hourly/daily basis. If you don't mind losing your internet connection every few hours, then Cox Communications provides an adequate service. If, you need to stay connected for work projects or other tasks, then you need to find another carrier. I would recommend a satellite service that avoids the 40 year old cables that Cox is using. read more

I have had continuous problems with my internet. They continue to send Sunshine communications (sub-contractor) out & or their own employees who no one ever seems to know why they are or how to fix the problem, they have to send someone else out. I had a new Cox system installed after I moved from La Mesa to Fletcher Hills. That was in October. The system was very sporadic - sometimes good and sometimes bad. So I called for support and a technician arrived the next day. HENRY was incredible. He fixed several glitches, brought everything into working order, offered great advice, showed us all the proper ways to use the remote and was very patient. He was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, accommodating and willing to do anything we asked. What a great employee. Terrible Service, Shady Business Practices - Avoid This Company! If I could give zero stars, I would. Their internet speeds are nowhere near what they advertise, outages are frequent, and customer support is a nightmare to deal with. I was a loyal customer for over 10 years, but when I canceled my service, they hit me with an $80 cancellation fee. Apparently, anytime you make any change to your plan--whether upgrading, downgrading, or adjusting your service--they automatically start you on a new contract, with a hidden cancellation fee buried in the fine print of an electronic document. Of course, they never make this clear. When I called to dispute the fee, I asked to speak to a manager who could actually help me. Instead, the representative claimed she was the manager and that there was no one else I could talk to. She said that if I canceled my service, I'd lose my chance to dispute the fee--but if I stayed, she could "escalate" my case. I reluctantly agreed, hoping for a resolution, but the escalation team never called me back. When I followed up a week later, I had to start the entire process over, only to be told the same thing again. In the end, I canceled my service and was also charged for the extra days between my first call and when I finally gave up. It's clear they use deceptive tactics to trap customers into staying. Around 40 minutes of long delays with customer service just to remove unlimited data from an existing plan. There were all sorts of efforts to sell other services, instead of taking care of my one request. My internet service is $50/month more than Spectrum. I pay $120/month for 1,000 Mbps ("Gig Speed"), but only get 53.8Mbps. I run the test on their website and am told everything looks good. I have been an internet only Cox customer since 2017. For over a year I have been on the free ACP internet with COX (I was hurt at work and cannot work after my surgeries). I got an email from Cox last month stating the ACP was most likely going to run out of Federal Funding in April. I wanted to check the price of basic internet without my ACP. Finally got a sales person on the phone. First thing he asked for was my 4-digit PIN. I told him I had just entered it to get to him and prefer not to give it out. He said: "I cannot help you unless you give me your PIN". I told him I preferred not to give out my PIN twice on one call when I was only calling for pricing. He hung up on me! Horrendous service. After multiple calls and service upgrades, I still could not get my Internet service to work. Cox customer service blamed my devices for the slow service. I finally cut the service and moved to Google Fiber. They installed the next day and I haven't had a problem since. To make me really grumpy, Cox then billed me a late fee on the last payment (which I paid) claiming my bank charged them a late fee and they are passing it on to me. I have never heard of a bank charging a vendor a late fee because their customer's account didn't work. Two of the best customer service experiences ever. My Internet went down -- & I got great advisement over the phone by RYAN (so pleasant & helpful). Went out to purchase a Wi-Fi/cable modem. Called Cox Support again to finalize installation. JAMESHA was superb!!!!!!!!!!!! Truly likeable, patient & encouraging as we went through the steps. Internet slower than described online. Unusable. I canceled after paying a deposit on the modem . Cox did not credit my account for the returned modem. Cox also failed to credit my deposit . They turned my account over to collections defaming me and negatively effecting my credit. I was responsible and did my duty but cox insists I owe them money. This is a false claim. I moved to a new address and use the same equipment had before and it only covered a third of my property. When I contacted them they told me the only option was to buy another $200 extender. I opted to go with another company where I pay $30 less per month with T-Mobile and they sent me a modem and router that our Wi-Fi And cover my whole house for free. Because I had to cancel my contract within a week of starting it and it wasn't given until November 2024. I still was charged an additional $150 of a early cancellation fee, that they refuse to waive, the only thing they offered was that they could send out a tech person to look at if they could move the modem and that's the only way that they could waive the fee, but they never gave me that as an option the first time and they refuse to even reduce the 150 at all even though I called and chatted with someone online multiple times to try and resolve my situation, and they never gave me that as an option. Asked them to resend me a letter via email because it never got delivered contrary to their website stating an email would be sent about a program I got approved for. When I call, they keep giving me word of mouth of approval but no one is able to resend the correspondence. All while I am being overcharged for internet one billing cycle after another. I also asked rep to transfer me to their supervisor and they ended the online chat with me.
