Before I even get into anything: the habanero salsa is key to the meal's completion. I hope I was charged extra for the amount I consumed. It was worth it. My innards will burn for 48hrs. We arrived 530p, escaping the 96 degree beating sun into a packed reception area. 'It will be about 15 minutes, maybe less, for a table unless you want to sit outside?' No inside please we desire the AC, I replied. We took a seat across from an obese family looking the epitome of Cali to Idaho within the month transplant: each member (apart from the teenage child) of this absolute UNIT was clad in some variation of Red/White/Blue/Punisher gear. I attempted to make eye contact with the boss hog. He stared off unflinchingly to the brightly lit bar area; probably thinking about how nice it would be to abandon his family and go back into bar. I was correct, I thought, as he did stand and asked the hostess if he could wait in the bar area. "No sir, that's also seating only" begrudgingly, he sat back down next to his family. The hostess was spot on and 10 minutes later we were sat in a tastefully designed mostly beige and wood booth. Only minutes after sitting the sweet, but large, blue rimmed glass chalices housing the margs arrived. The Serrapĩna is not spicy enough, my wife says; North Idaho spicy I think, practically lava with a quick punch of serrano at the front. We order the Oaxaca Bowl (for health) and deluxe fajitas (for the sizzle). I was shocked how quickly the food arrived. 6 minutes maybe less?!? I was, sadly, dismayed that the sizzle did not flood the table in smoke. Food was good. No complaints, crowd pleasers all around. VERY LARGE portions. I gauge a Tex-Mex resturant by the quality of their chile relleno and Coyol preformed, with the best chile relleno in CDA. Whitney, our server, was great. Positive and a go-getter. I loved the part where she demonstrated the size of an order of xangos while clearing our plates. She had to set the plates down to motion with two hands. Coyol is a great spot for a large group looking to fill themselves and have some libations. Very clean well managed with a crowd. Will need to return and try more options. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the new Mexican restaurant in Coeur d'Alene, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! We sat at the bar and the bar tender was amazing! They have only been open a week and have it dialed in!! The service was impeccable; the staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They guided us through the menu, offering wonderful recommendations based on our preferences. The tacos were authentic, with perfectly seasoned meat and fresh toppings. The enchiladas were creamy and delicious, and the guacamole was made fresh right at our table--definitely a highlight! Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone in the area. I'll consider this a partial review because I'd already had dinner so I only got to try the cucumber jalapeño margarita and the chile relleno + a few bites of others dishes. BUT from what I had it was full of flavor and honestly comparable in price to most sit down Mexican food places in town. As an add on bonus, you get the gorgeous and clean interior with great service. It reminds me of a restaurant you'd eat at on the coast of Mexico, that beachy natural interior with modern lines. What can I say about Coyol. CDA is lucky to have this authentic Mexican restaurant gem. Upon entering I was greeted and seated right away. The aromas in the restaurant and the plates coming out the kitchen were all amazing. I had the parrillada for one but it was enough for at least two people. They definitely weren't shy with the portions. It was delicious but under seasoned for my liking. I also had the pork belly bites and OMG this app definitely hit the spot. Coyol will be a top mexican restaurant in CDA while the wait times are short. I will definitely be coming back to try the rest of the menu. read more

Went here with friends for first time. Reviews a bit on the high side for what we experienced. However very decent. The chips were very good and white salsa very interesting and tasted good. The red salsa not enough spice IMO. We were told the guacamole appetizer was fantastic but found it average. I had the steak fajitas . Large potion of meat but yet again not the most flavorful. Also needed to be served hotter. Sizzling platter is real way to go.The rice and beans meh. My wife had a shredded beef taco and chili rellano. Taco average and chile rellano was excellent. The winner in the group was the ribeye tacos. Very tasty and looked amazing. As far as drinks all very good. Had a glass of wine , Modelo draft, jack Daniel's and water over and the outstanding thing was the margarita. My wife disappeared they don't serve margaritas blended. I consider myself as an honest reviewer dining frequently at Mexican cuisine. This atmosphere and design is very nice but a little less volume on the background music would be better. I know the restaurant is new and please take this as positive criticism. I rate it at 3 1/2 but give it a four as server was great and very attetive. read more

Amazing Service! We had little to no wait time both times we've been there! Food was so fresh and phenomenal! I loved the mucho nachos appetizer! I had the Tradicion Coyol and the asador carne asada. The traditional Coyol didn't really have a sauce which I was thinking it would, it's diced poblanos and cheese which was still full of flavor and great! The asador carne asada was great but doesn't come cut up which would be easier to eat but all still very delicious and great fresh flavors! The service was very attentive and fantastic! Food came out very quickly which is great when you have a starving husband and little mouths to feed!! read more

I was really excited to try this new restaurant, but left upset. The food was good and the atmosphere was fun but the service was poor. We came for lunch and asked about the specials they served. When the bill came they had charged us the dinner prices. When confronted they stated they had brought us the dinner sizes because they didn't know how to ring up the lunch combo. No apology, no trying to make it right. There are a lot of other great places the area with great food and service. Skip this one. read more

This is, BY FAR, The best biz model I've experienced in the culinary scene in Coeur d'Alene! The level of training, (after a week open!) resembles one that a casino would be proud of, Saturday night booked solid, parking lot full, and a smile on everyone's face (intent & focused smiles, they are very serious about succeeding). The interior design renovation from original Chili's building is brilliantly bright, and elegant! Now to the most important part, THE CUISINE. Firstly, any Mexican restaurant that dares to put queso fundido on their appetizer list, is not only wise, but culturally accurate. That has been a litmus test for years for me in analyzing the viability of a Hispanic presentation. Next, the overall menu is deep-in-its-soul Mexican, yet not laden with lard, but influenced from the very interior, where flavor trumps poundage, as the subtlety of the elements are revealed. They're not going for blazing heat, but rather reaching the palate, before the taste buds are destroyed with too much spice and alcohol. The menu resembles other establishments, but what sets them apart is simply their precise follow through, in every way, from service to presentation to decor. I know I gush many times, but I'm always selective of the businesses that rank highest in my book. The establishments you don't hear from on my list, are the ones I will never endorse, but I won't slam either. My endorsements speak for themselves, and you can try any or all, and feel that glow as you're walking out, content, without a care in the world. Tough challenge to meet, but this restaurant is hittin it on all cylinders! Thanks Coeur d'Alene, for another added element to what many tout as a true vacation paradise. Kudos Ramon and Coyol Team! Finally an elevated Mexican restaurant in Coeur d'Alene ID! There are sooo many run of the mill, basic places with mediocre food, but Coyol just changed everything for the better. The atmosphere is in fresh, clean, and bright--something you would expect at a nice resort or a larger city with foodies. The service was attentive, friendly, and happy, but professional. They have nice options for tequilas. We had the Mahi Mahi and the Al Pastor Street tacos. The Mahi Mahi was moist and the Al Pastor had excellent intense flavor. We were in town for the Ironman race and heard they were having a soft opening. We went and were immediately greeted at the door and as they were going to get us a table, we found others in our group at the bar. We sat there with them, menus arrived immediately and the staff took our drink order. The drinks arrived promptly and we ordered our food. The food order arrived quickly and even though it was a limited menu due to the soft opening, everything was delicious. The flavors of the food were outstanding. The staff were very attentive and friendly, always checking to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. The decor was great and we will definiely be back when we are in town. read more
