The Mexican Food is pretty good considering the area. Maybe I'm in over my head but I ordered taquitos and I'm pretty sure I got a chimichanga instead. I never once seen taquitos rolls like a burrito. Server was nice but didn't seem on it. We ordered our food then my other half asked for a glass that came after the food was dropped. To top it off she dropped a plate on our table that wasn't ours then walked away and came back to say that she made a mistake and took the plate away. I would have gave them a 3 stars but the experience kinda ruined it for me. Hopefully if you're reading this you still check it out and have a different (better) experience than me! read more

I want to leave 5 stars for the food, but service stole a star. I'd prob take more off the review but the food was solid enough for me to let this poor service slide this visit. Entrees: our actual food was great! The best Verde and Colorado we have found. Everything came out hot and delicious. The rice didn't have filler veggies in it and the beans were flavorful. Chips and salsa: The salsa was very mild and somewhat bland, but we love heat. Think of it as a homemade pace salsa but slightly more saucy. Chips were pretty on par with other restaurants. Service: We tried to be considerate that everywhere is under staffed but it really took away from our experience. Everything was so slow to come out (serving part of 2 different groups at the same time and leaving half our group with no food for a bit), we ordered a second margarita that we were charged for that we never received, the server was not attentive and forgot many things (our salsa, refills, silverware). read more

My wife and I went her tonight for the first time. We were severely disappointed!! We never even got our food we just left. We got there about 6:20pm and by 7:05 pm we paid for our beer and left. Jonathan was AMAZING!! We watch him running around answering phones taking orders delivering food answering phones!! The user was also working hard!! The 2 ladies on third especially the one with the butterfly tattoo were LAZY!! NOT WORKING but a Talking with a table Jonathan had already cleaned got a che k and also given to go boxes!! Jonathan was busting his ass!! Yet the ladies working were not!! I will not ever wast time going back to this place!! Once again I will give praise to the hard working Jonathon!! If you had never had true Mexican or Tex Mex food, then the food here might be for you. Over all the food is very bland, very little mexican flavor. The salsa was so bland, I had to add salt to it, to get any flavor other than water down tomato juice. I ordered Chichen Enchalidas Ranchera style and I cleaned my plate, cause the food is not bad it is eatable, just flavor less. I am orginaly from Texas and love mexican food, and try to eat it in various states. CdA does have good mexican, but this is not the place. read more

Like others, I would have gone ed with 5 stars, but the service is very challenged. That being said, the food quality was being maintained at s high level. I wasn't in a rush, so it was worth the wait. I had the Jennifer's chimichanga which was a unique sauce that involved spinach. A good spin in s traditional dish. I have been to this place before but with people I didn't really know, so the experience wasn't very notable. I finally made it back yesterday with a good friend and we had a great time! They have mild salsa but we asked for the spicy and it was delicious. We also ordered margarita and the cost for a Cadillac Margarita is only 8 bucks! Not to mention that they make their own margarita mix so you don't suffer any acid reflux or heartburn later. The food is delicious!!. I have tried the tacos and Chili Verde and loved both! The service is amazing! They are a family run restaurant and the service is excellent. I was so impressed, I came two days in a row and cant wait to bring my Mom. What I don't get is why a person would go to Ranchi Viejo (bleh) when this place is down the street. I definitely recommend this Toro Viejo!! read more

Absolutely DO NOT GO HERE. I tried to call in an order and apparently the people that work here are disgustingly rude! I have celiac and am allergic to gluten. I was nice and just asked what was gluten free. The response was ignorant and rude! The lady says "we are busy and don't have time for questions if you have questions you can look at the menu". Obviously this person was ignorant and dumb because your menu doesn't explain allergens! I couldn't believe how rude they were. Ignore the haters. Those who gave one and two stars are speaking from a lofty mound atop their navel staring cult of hatin'. I've been dining here for 30 years and the food is consistent, authentic, and delicious. All Mexican restaurants are judged by their burritos and their salsa. Both of Toro Viejo's are spoken of in hushed and reverent tones both here and afar. They've retained the same fabulous staff for years and those people never stop moving. This was our first visit to the Hayden location as we usually go to the downtown CDA location and absolutely love the food and the service. Unfortunately this location was disappointing. The food was mediocre at best. Hardly and flavor. I was excited to try the new menu item fajita chimi and it was pretty much all regrows beans onions and peppers and I had a hard time finding the shredded chicken. The chips with salsa were stale and the Mexican rice had no taste at all. My husband ordered the burrito Blanca and his looked good and tasted good but again, not a lot of flavor like we are used to at the other location. I was pretty disappointed. The decor and ambiance isn't there. They don't have an alcoholic drink menu...? And I ordered a desert plate with vanilla ice cream, sopapilla and flan. They were out of flan so I ended up with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and some sugar chips with whipped cream for $6. My Spanish rice was burnt and dry. Consistently good Mexican food. I have eaten here and the one in Rathdrum more times than I could count and I've never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly, the food hot and delicious and the restaurant is always clean. I'm a fan of the Mexican Stir-fry, of the Chicken variety with soft tacos of course! Just finished dinner at Toro Viejo. I've eaten here several times and haven't been disappointed. The chips were warm and the salsas delightful. The casuela verde was fantasitc. Wife's taquitos were very good, crispy and not greasy at all. Gerania (mom & daughter share same name) the daughter was wonderful and the staff very prompt, polite and friendly. First, walked in and waited for 10 minutes to be seated and they weren't that busy. The server was not terribly attentive. We ordered hot salsa as the mild tasted like ketchup and it took 15 minutes to get it. Our drinks sat for even longer needing a refill and we finally had to ask someone else as our server never came back to our table except to bring our check.
