Palenque is a great surprise tucked behind a storefront in Liberty Lake. We had a special family dinner here recently and we recommend it very highly! This has to be the worst Mexican restaurant I've been too. I grew up in San Jose, Ca with amazing Mexican food. When I moved up to Spokane I always go into each Mexican restaurant with a slight hope. The food here was very salty. I ordered Chile Verde, my gauge of a good Mexican restaurant. My dish was extremely salty and I couldn't eat it. The beans were ok and the only thing I could eat. That and the salad. The rice tasted like grease. I would never recommend this to place to anyone to eat. The Margaritas were ok but very sweet if that is your thing. read more

Location is great to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the view of Trailhead golf course. Service is always fast and friendly. Food and drinks are decent. I like the fish tacos, housemade chips and salsa, and quesadilla. My husband enjoys the burritos and enchiladas. I always get the house margarita since it's a bit less sweet than their other drinks. My husband ordered the chilie Colorado burrito and it was the size of an enchilada( like kid size) wasn't expecting that.. nothing special about the flavor- definitely wouldn't order it again.. I ordered the Palenque burrito (with steak) which was delicious ( packed with flavor) and was like a fajita burrito.. great size too ..I asked for the beans and rice on side( glad I did) cuz the beans and rice would have taken away from the flavor.. rice n beans pretty bland.. server was nice tho:) but wish she would have spoke up to my husband and just said it's a small portion.. crazy how expensive Mexican food is now a days! read more

So many favorite things about this place: friendly service, wonderful view, and the relaxing atmosphere. Also, they have an amazing selection of drinks whether you drink alcohol or not. They have Horchata and it's served in a huge frosty mug. Today, I had the most delicious seafood dish with large shrimp & bite sized bay scallops sautéed with onions, peppers & mushrooms in a wonderful light tomato sauce. Came with rice & beans & flour tortillas. One of the best dishes I've had in a long time! I overheard a customer say something to one of the waiters about the building being torn down. Honestly, I hope so! The ladies restroom is worst than ever! So, I hope this means they are going to build a beautiful new building with usable & working restrooms AND be wheelchair/walker friendly. Went here on a date and while the atmosphere is definitely nice the food wasn't anything spectacular. My boyfriend had the enchiladas with mole and I had the shrimp avocado salad. We split the California French Fries. In addition we both had drinks, his being beers on tap and mine a pina colada. I want to point out again the service and atmosphere are great. It's a good representation of a classic Mexican restaurant and bar and the hostess along with the servers were very attentive throughout the meal. Drinks were great and something I would definitely go back for. As mentioned earlier the food wasn't spectacular. The concept of California French fries is nice but need a garlic sauce to help the dryness all the other ingredients brought. I didn't try the enchiladas myself but I did taste the sauce and rice and I hate to say it but it tasted like a can instead of homemade. My boyfriend wasn't a fan and ended up scraping off the sauce to eat the 2nd enchilada. Personal opinion of the shrimp salad was it wasn't worth the cost. The shrimp was cooked well and the avocado was fresh but the salad wasn't anything. I had to ask for dressing which they only had 2 choices (ranch or blue cheese) neither of which did anything to make it better In conclusion this is a great place to get drinks with your friends but skip the appetizer or meals read more

Checked this place out for the first time tonight since We moved. I didn't even know it existed as the billboard and advertisement is pretty minimal. Somebody actually told me it was here. It was decent. I had a house margarita which was pretty good and one was all I needed. Left with a slight buzz. I had the steak fajitas with flour tortillas and they were okay. I was with all my boys and two of them got the enchiladas, one of them got the nachos. My pictures were taken after they already started consuming.. everyone thought it was pretty decent and that we would venture here again in the future. One thing they got I got excited about was happy hour everyday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. I love my margaritas and their house margaritas during happy hour are six bucks. the salsa also was pretty good so I can imagine sitting down with a basket of chips and salsa and a couple margaritas. They also had happy hour well drinks for around 5 bucks. Was it my favorite Mexican restaurant? No, But it was decent enough. The staff was pretty friendly and service was great. read more

Where to start? Upon entering, we saw the rather obnoxiously loud decor and a sign that said "please wait to be seated". We waited. And waited. Finally had to go find someone. There were very few people there. ok, staffing shortages are real. we let that go in the moment. Service was friendly but the food... I cannot recomment. First came the salsa, which literally tasted like someone dumped a jar of spaghetti sauce in a bowl. Awful. Nothing like any salsa we've ever had, and my husband has eaten plenty of meals abroad including in Mexico. The entrees tasted ok at first, but the saltiness and greasiness made it impossible to finish it. The silverware was cheap and tinny, like dollar store quality. I get that some people steal that stuff. But I've never seen anything this cheap used at a sit down restaurant. Drinks were just ok. About an hour after we left, my husband and I both got a bad case of "Montezuma's Revenge", which isn't the kind of "authentic" experience we were hoping for. It's taken many weeks to get my husband back out to eat Mexican food again, it left us feeling so bad. Will not revisit. read more

After seven years in the INW we decided to give this place a try and left beyond disappointed! While the atmosphere and decor was very nice, the food is terrible. The salsa tasted as though it was out of a jar and after the third our fourth dip into it I found a hair. The waiter replaced it but without an apology of any kind. My wife had the Pollo Fundido that had flavorless chicken with what appeared and tasted like melted Kraft American cheese, really. I ordered the carne asada street tacos that came out cold with a tablespoon or two of beans in a small tostada-like shell and some flavorless rice in the same. You are better off going to Azteca (which is far from great) for mexican food. We will never go here again and will definitely spend our mexican food dining dollars at the far superior option in Liberty Lake just east of there! read more

A bit small but that serves them well because their service was very attentive. Our server Marcos was greatZ super friendly and spent time visiting with us. First visit tonight at 530 and it was packed. Several groups of people ahead of us and I was expecting a long wait. Within 5 mins the host and hostess had our party of 5 seated with chips and salsa and water. Within 2 more minutes our drink orders were in. Food orders went in and on the table within 10 minutes. This place was a big disappointment, the food was ok but they literally tried to not honor their happy hour price on our 3 drinks. The menu says house margaritas on the rocks are 9.50 normal price. Happy hour states "house margaritas" on the rocks are 6.95 7 days a week from 3:00-6:00 pm. So after we were charged full price I figured it was a simple oversight. I asked the manager about it and he said no that's the price. But I said it was happy hour, no those aren't the same drinks he says. I said what's the difference between a house margarita and a house margarita. He refused to change the bill and said we needed to talk with the waiter. The waiter comes over 10 minutes later and says that the happy hour margaritas are different because their smaller. I almost start laughing!So let me get this straight, the special price for the happy hour margarita is one that's half the size for a 2.50 discount. I just starred at him! Then what's the point of happy hour prices. They didn't want to make it right but with a very bad attitude he said he would give us the price stated on the menu. Tonight, we decided to try the new location. I had my ADA certified service dog and when we walked in we were told no dogs. I explained he was certified and although it's illegal for him to ask, I was happy to show the verification. He said that wasn't necessary and we would have to leave. The manager whom we were speaking to said the food board people said they could turn away people with service animals. I asked again if he was sure he wanted to open this can of worms.
