I hate getting excited for mexican food because others dont know good mexican food in the area. The pictures are deceiving because its definitely white people mexican food made for the area and not authentic. Watered down meats and hard shells that came straight from the taco bell drive thru. If youre from the area and know no different in mediocre mexican food then you will probably love this place. But if youre from out of town a d know better, you will be severely disappointed like me. One of my favorite places in Spokane, and probably one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in general outside of California and Mexico. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. Bonus points for when I go to pick up an online order and when I say the order is for my wife Tonya (long o) they don't immediately correct me and say it with a short "o" sound like I don't know my own wife's name. Laugh if you want but that is a problem almost everywhere, proving the employees at Vaqueros actually listen to the words coming out of my mouth. Again, bonus points. My family and I have tried the vast majority of the food on the menu since this place opened and have never been disappointed with the flavor. Portion size is really good as well. My only issues are, with the many times we have gotten take out (came here for food a lot during Covid lockdown) I would say about a third of the time something has been forgotten. Usually something minor like extra tortillas we pay for, but a couple of times someone's entree was not in the order. I would also not the prices have gotten rather high and we don't eat here as often as a result. Other than these, Vaqueros is a great place and you should try it if you are ever in the Valley. read more

I wish I had remembered that I ordered from Vaqueros Mexican Restaurant awhile back. I made the same mistake again. It was uneatable, except for the rice and beans; I would give them 2 stars. The pan it was delivered in was hot, but the food was cold. I did try the food. The tamale was horrible, as was the burrito. I took a couple more bites of the enchilada, but I had to throw it out too. I have seen better reviews. Maybe when a person goes to the restaurant, they get better food! The food was very good and so was the service. The bill was about $330 and I gave a $50 tip. I put it on my credit card like I normally do and that most customers would. Then they charged me $11.41 for a Credit Card Surcharge Fee. That's Bull Shit. We will go back there. But next time I will deduct this $11.41, will calculate the next Credit Card Surcharge on the bill and deduct both from the tip. I will explain the reasoning to the staff and they can get the balance of the tip from management. read more

Had a great meal tonight. My friends have been going here for awhile, it was my first visit. Everything was delicious. I ordered a Jumbo Cadillac Margarita and Camarones al Mojo de Ajo. A nice amount of shrimp and perfect garlic. One of my friends ordered the Mexican Pizza from the appetizer menu, she really liked it. Another ordered a chimichanga and she said it was fantastic. We were warmly greeted and provided fresh chips and salsa (a little spicy for my husband but not for me). Our server (was charming and attentive). He was also a bartender who made a mean margarita! I got fish (grilled tilapia) tacos (I had the choice of corn or flour tortillas), avocado slices along with rice, and refried pinto beans. My husband had a shredded beef burrito. They had choices for most of their entrees: ground beef, shredded beef, chicken, and shredded chicken. Everything was delicious! But we had to wait over 15 minutes, and ask two servers to get more...and by the time it came to the table our food was soggy and cold. Our server ignored us the entire time. Food was pretty darn good. Really expensive in my opinion but the taste made it easier. For me and my 12 year old it was $76. No alcohol and just an extra side of rice. The service was not great although the waitress was very nice. Just never came to the table until the end. I've eaten here twice and both times the food was great. Very bland and tasted like it was made of just ketchup. And this place is very pricy for the quality of the food. 2 meals, one soup, couple drinks came out to $150. Staff was attentive, courteous and friendly. Portion sizes are large and the chips and salsa was fresh and tasty, couldn't eat just one basket of chips. They always DO NOT include utensils with my order. Please for the love of God.... Include utensils when delivering to a hotel. Extra bonus points for a napkin or two. I really don't understand the 3 1/2 stars, our food was Amazing! Being from Central Calif we are use to very good Mexican Food and had several places we would frequent often. We could not find anything in CDA or Sandpoint that came close to what we know. We stopped in Vaquero's this week and now have our new go to. May have to drive just a little further but good Mexican Food and Drink is well worth it. Highly recommend Vaquero's when you are wanting GOOD Mexican Food. I had the Chili Colorado Burrito and a Shredded Beef Enchilada with Beans and Rice. Of course I had an 18oz. Cadillac Margarita with a shot of Fortaleza Tequila. Maybe I set my standards for this place too high coming from So Cal but this was probably the worse I've had in the Spokane area let alone with the prices. Saw Vaqueros from the highway and pulled off for a late lunch. It was a very quiet Wednesday afternoon (only one other car in the lot). Walked in to a large restaurant space and was seated immediately. The menu was very extensive. I'm sure you could find any Mexican dish your heart desired in there. I ordered the Chili Verde and my wife, the cheese enchilada (small plate). Just water for our beverage today. Food was good (four stars) and the portions were filling. But, I thought it was a bit pricey. $18 for the Verde and $14 for the enchiladas. We've only been here a short time, but have found better Mexican food for much less. Albeit, without the ambience. Vaqueros is probably a fun and livley place to be on a Saturday night and a few Dos Equis might have softened the edge of the prices! read more

Nice to get out with hubby for a date night. Good thing we went in a hurry. Service is friendly but slow. Each table gets a water pitcher which is great so you don't have to wait for your water to be refilled. Chips come out warm, so yummy. Huckleberry margarita was good, sweet and sour. The electric lemonade is the best. Looking forward to duplicating this by the pool this summer. Food is good, pricy but portions are large. We took half of both plates home.
