I am a 70 year old geezer with a 1995 Jeep Wrangler 186,000 rough miles. Took it in for tires. Had some issues with it running bad and a couple other things. it has never ran as good as it does now they didn't charge me anything to fix how it was running. Poor communication and aside from that we thought this shop was reliable at first but oh boy were we wrong. Front desk girl named Angel keeps promising us our car will be done the day we call. every time we call through out the day she promises us our car will be done by the end of the day. No calls for updates through out the day what so ever until we call 30 minutes before they close and of course she has an excuse on why it won't be done. We don't mind if the car will take days to be finished but stop lying to us telling us it will be done that day when it won't be. it's a waste of our time and plans. Not only that but SHE DOESNT EVEN KEEP US UPDATED ON WHATS GOING ON until we call first. So rude and inconsiderate and may be the worst customer service I've ever had from any place. Today she had an excuse that they sent the guy working on our car home but failed to call us to let us know. Mind you this whole time we're waiting for a call to pick it up since we need our car to commute to work. We had to call 15 mins before they closed just to find out it won't be ready again! Like come on let us know. Stop lying and telling us it will be ready and if that was the case and something came up please call your customers to update them. Extremely frustrating and inconsiderate. A year and a half ago I took my cj2a jeep to coyote with a list that i wanted to repair. They never touched the vehicle. There was no communtication from them at all. I had a brand new radiator on the frame and when i removed my jeep from coyote two day ago, many cooling fins were bent. Additionally when i got the vehicle home i noticed the new tires i had on the vehicle had been altered. The new rear tires had been replaced with older tired that were definitely used. So someone at coyote took the two new tires and remounted two old used tires. I did run in to a couple guys who worked at coyote in the passed and they said they were working on the jeep but that was the only communication from them at any time. Stay away from this place or you will get scammed. read more

Overall skilled and reliable auto repair. That alone would give them 4 or 5 stars, but the problem is with their service. Of the 4-5 times they had my car in, the average time per repair was two months, but a few were over 4 months, while my car sat outside unprotected from the elements. Going in and begging didn't get my car out any sooner, either. Everything is at their convenience, not that of the customer. read more

Scammers. Took my van in to get an allignment and new tires. They put on the new tires, but told me they couldn't do an allignment becsuse my entire front end had to be rebuilt. My van is my house, and the temperature was rising in payson so out of necessity I had to leave and went to flagstaff. Just took it in to get checked and get an allignment and NOTHING had to be replaced on my front end for them to do the allignment. Paid 173 dollars for an allignment at a shop in flagstaff (ascot auto) opposed to coyote who told me I needed 5000 dollars worth of work before they would do an allignment. read more

Our Lexus broke down 30 miles east of Payson. The vehicle was towed to Payson and we chose Coyote Auto since they were recommended by another auto repair shop in Payson. The vehicle was dropped off in the very late afternoon. Coyote had the repair complete the very next morning. So glad we chose Coyote Auto. It ended up being the radiator cap. They replaced the cap, drained and replaced the coolant, and then pressure tested. Back on the road quickly with a great repair job at a very reasonable price. Stopped into this place to have them check my radiator fluid, thermostat and hoses. First the place is an absolute dump! It's like stepping into a bad movie. Secondly, it's run by guy (Dan) who reminded me of Guber the auto mechanic from the Gomer Pyle show from the 60's-70's. I am female so I asked for an estimate so I could let my husband know a ballpark figure... The guy acted like a jerk and said "It's going to be what its going to be after we get to look at it". "Do you want to leave it here or have it towed?". Ignoring his bad attitude I kindly responded that we would leave it there for them to inspect. After waiting TWO WEEKS for a call I finally called to ask what they discovered and the cost to repair our car. Well it needed a thermostat replacement and fresh antifreeze which wound up costing us over $200.00 We go to the shop and pick up the car... We begin the drive back to Fountain Hills. We get maybe 30 miles and the car starts smoking and overheating. We pull off to the side of the road and low an behold... Whoever put in the new coolant hadn't put the radiator cap on properly. We called. More b.s. from the owner so we called AAA and had it towed to a shop down in Mesa who does great work and has certified mechanics. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I am updating my review from a 4 star to a 2 star after finding that the spark plug gaskets were not set correctly. This has led to oil seeping into one (so far) of the four spark plug shafts. I also don't believe that my original valve cover was kept because the one that was used was not in as good of condition as the one that was originally on the car. After taking off the valve cover to inspect the spark plug gaskets, I can confirm that they used a different valve cover and they did not inspect or replace the plug gaskets. Three of the four gaskets were cut or torn and all of them were aligned incorrectly with the spark plug shafts. I'm surprised that only one had leaked. I would exercise caution at this point when considering this establishment and I would recommend verifying and inspecting as much of the work as possible. My original 4 star review said: Excellent, Knowledgeable, Honest Service. I am an aspiring photographer and my 1997 Honda Civic EX with 230k + miles is my life. As you can imagine, selling art to make a living (and buying new things) is not easy. Recently, I wanted to take a road trip to Mormon Lake, AZ to photograph the fall foliage but take the scenic route along the Mogollon Rim (Hwy 87) rather than I-17. The upper radiator hose blew just 5 miles outside of Payson and before I knew it, I lost all of my radiator fluid. A typical blown head gasket. I called several other places in Payson but none would work on the car due to its mileage. Coyote Auto had my vehicle for less than two weeks, had the head sent to a machine shop, changed my timing belt, water pump, thermostat, plugs and distributor cap & rotor (a separate issue that I had them fix while it was there...a sputtering on startup that would last only 20 seconds). When I picked the car up, I drove it straight to Woodruff, AZ for the day before returning to Mesa. She ran like a top and nearly got 40mpg (and she's an automatic). Additionally, it used to leak a small amount of oil causing those annoying drops to appear on the driveway. They cleaned that issue up as well without me even asking. The price was more than reasonable to me (just going to say it was less than $1,500) because I haven't had a car payment in over 13 years so I view this cost as: $1,500 / 13 = $115.38 year or...no big whoop. We had taken our car to Fletcher to do some brake work, when we picked up the car, the brakes still were not right. We took it back and they charged us again to change out more parts and AGAIN the brakes did not feel right. Finally the brakes were to a point where it was too dangerous to drive, so we asked a friend and she referred us to Coyote. We had them fix our suspension and our steering problem and asked them to fix the brakes. They called us and they were able to fix the other issues, but not the brakes. I begged them to please try and figure it out since we could not use the car and THEY DID! They researched and talked to other mechanics out of state and worked on our car for days. I can't do anything more than disagree with the previous review! I also drove up from the valley and my Jeep broke down 9 miles out of town on an offroad trail. We had to hike back about 2 miles just to get a hint of cell service to call AAA who told us there was nothing they could do for us because we were off pavement. We had a fellow Jeep owner drive us into town and they took us to Coyote. The owner, Dan was super nice and drive me back to my Jeep in his own personal truck with only 15 minutes left before the shop closed. He fixed the Jeep on the trail! And followed me back to the shop to ensure all went well! I still need to get a part fixed before I am able to put the jeep in 4WD again, but he charged me an insanely fair price for fixing the Jeep on a trail, near a creek bed, with a storm rolling in, past closing time. I have full intentions of driving back to Payson just to have the part fixed because this place obviously knows what it's doing and despite knowing I WAS stranded in Payson without their help, charged me very little for the monumental service they provide. In addition, the folks that drove us to Coyote were locals and said that coyote had a great reputation in town and was the place to go. read more

Son decided it was a good idea to take a Mazda Tribute off roading in Forest Lakes, Labor Day weekend. Mazda decided it was a horrible idea and began to spray oil everywhere! We had no idea how extensive the damage was, it lost all oil and we had to get it towed. I expected the worst and between all the mud and oil, there was no telling how bad it was. We were at the mercy of an honest shop and mechanics. We had the car towed to this shop, and we headed back home to Phoenix. I got a call that same day with the news, all it needed was an oil change! The oil filter was punctured and the engine just needed to be cleaned out due to mud and oil. They are the perfect example of honesty and credibility. Was passing through town while on a road trip when my car broke down. It was 3pm on a Friday and this shop was able to look at the car, diagnose the problem and repair it within an hour. Recently, I had taken one of my vehicles to Payson on a camping trip. While going up and down the mountains, smoke started billowing from under the vehicle. I took it to a local shop called Coyote Auto and RV in Payson and they said that my transmission probably went out and that I'm probably looking at a $2000 repair job and it'd take a few days (Even though I was able to drive my vehicle for several miles to bring it to their shop? Hmmm?). Anyway, to be safe and avoid potential for more damage, I had my vehicle towed by AAA back down the mountain to Thunderbird Automotive Service in Peoria, AZ, whom I found on Mark Salem's website. They kept my vehicle for a day and half, which tells me they went through it thoroughly, and said that they couldn't find anything wrong. My opinion only, but I suspect Coyote Auto Truck & RV takes advantage of folks from out of town desperate to have their vehicle back on the road. read more

this place is terrible !!! i brought my truck in for an oil change & 2 weeks later (after calling & going down there 3 times) they told me i needed a new starter & they couldn't get the truck to run, so they took it to ford !!! ford knew what they were doing. here's the clincher, all the truck needed was an oil change, then they gave me a bill for $ 1500.00 !!! too bad there is not a zero star option !!! read more
