Visiting the area and decided to take a walk here to explore the beach, park, and see the planes flying over the ocean into SFO. While walking in we encountered the ranger booth. There were two rangers standing there having a seemingly pleasant conversation which smiles and laughter. I walked up because I noticed a price per car for $6 but didn't notice a price per person for pedestrians and wanted to clarify and pay the appropriate fees if needed. I was impressed that I didn't need to stop their conversation, they stopped on their own, greeted us with big smiles, asked how they could help us. Brandon and Lee let us know that as pedestrians we didn't need to pay or occupy the time limits. I let them know my buddy would be picking up the girls when he got off work and leaving immediately. They stated no charge, I gave them the vehicle type, they weren't worried. I gave my buddy their names and let him know. Upon his entry he had no issue entering without paying since he was just looping through. Using the restrooms, they were clean, stocked, had soap and were useable. The bbq pits were cleaned from dirt and debris and ready to use. We went to sit on a picnic table and were stopped by a gentleman who stated he had just finished painting those specific tables and was currently adding a "wet paint" label to the tables We obviously were grateful for that. He ushered us to tables that were clear to be sat at and enjoyed. Parking areas were cleaned and so was the beach. On thing I did notice was a pathway of material in several different areas. I hate walking through deep sand and getting sand into my shoes and being stuck with it all day. My second thought was that that wasn't the intended use, that possibly the intended use for for individuals using wheelchairs, walkers, other assisted devices or for those with mobility issues to have a smoother surface. This made me happy that the facilities were seemingly inclusive as much as possible! I mean it is nature. read more

This is a nice large outdoor area. You have to pay $6 to go in unless you have some other arrangement (e.g. membership at CuriOdyssey may give you free parking?) There was a lot of parking when we went on a Saturday afternoon. They had a few parking lots scattered in the area. There are a lot of picnic areas that you can reserve for the BBQ grills. There were plenty of bathrooms scattered throughout the picnic areas. The one I used was relatively clean and had plenty of toilet paper. They have a lot of trails here where you can bike or walk. You can watch the planes go in and out of the airport above you! There are also a lot of birds hanging out in and by water if you want to bird watch. I was hoping to catch some sea lions but I guess they weren't around. There is unfortunately a lot of powerlines in the area that would spoil an otherwise nice view but what can you do. I also saw there was a yacht club by the water! I saw you could rent the facilities for parties (not sure if you had to be a member or not). read more

Coyote Point is an expansive recreational area, and it costs $6 to enter/park. They have walkable areas, a dirty cold bay beach, barbecue and picnic tables, a marina, fishing, breakwater to walk on if you're physically able (not recommended if you're not fit or don't have good shoes), cute sea birds, a cute small marina trail loop, more trails, an RV campsite, windsurfing, and a small children's science museum and zoo, CuriOdyssey. There are multiple parking lots scattered around. I typically only come here if I want to have a look at what's new with CuriOdyssey as my membership gets me in for free, but I should explore more as it's really popular - basically like the Golden Gate Park of San Mateo, with a bay view. Despite the parking charge, it can get crowded here with people barbecuing, hiking, or playing at the children's playground. This park can be a bit overwhelming with how big it is, but is worth a look if you can spare the time to explore or search for the various activities available. read more

$6 for parking and you get access to the entire recreation area. Lots of families posted up for their parties and gatherings here, so keep this in mind that some of the lots will be full. My most favorite part of Coyote Point Recreation Area is the CuriOdyssey, which you can see my review for separately. Although this is a beach, it's unlike any beach that I've seen in SoCal, at least in my area. Pretty green, murky, and muddy, I wouldn't say it's the most ideal to go into, especially if you're not going to immediately shower afterwards. I don't think I saw people in the water either, even with it being June, but the breeze and cooler Bay Area weather kept everything nice and mild. Most people were flying kites or just going on walks. There are rentals for wind surfing and there were a couple people suited up for that. I heard there was a cosplay gathering here and it made many a cosplayer's outfit green though...There are playgrounds for the kids, a good amount of trees, a couple trails, a marina for the boats docked there, and some monthly/seasonal community events as well. I don't think I'd normally visit this area if it weren't for the CuriOdyssey, but it's not bad when I am there. read more

Wow. this is such a nice park. We had an event there the bathroom and the facilities were well maintained. Highly recommended for events.

Saw several planes land. Next time we'll actually picnic to make our $6 worth it there but had a nice walk with our dogs.

I learned about this place on IG and it did not disappoint. It was a 40 min drive up 101 from San Jose and $6 parking (card or cash). We only went to the beach section which has parking close by and on a Saturday morning at 10:30 am, wasn't full. The restrooms are close by but there is only male/female but each has a changing table. The beach was really clean and on a clear day you can see SF. There are people walking/jogging on beach and trail. We brought our picnic blanket and a few beach chairs. You get a lot of airplanes landing but it isn't terribly noisy. We plan to return and explore more of the area. Next time we will bring take out food for lunch to not have to leave. read more

Coyote Point Recreation Area consists of the CuriOdyssey science museum and zoo (awesome for young kids, my nephew loved it here on a previous visit), park and beach with reservable picnic sections (plenty of tables and seating), a playground, a plethora of boats in the marina near the coyote point yacht club, and of course several flat and easy trails, including the Eucalyptus Trail, Bluff Trail, and Marina Trail, great for enjoying the lovely views and fresh air while walking, skating, biking, or running like I did on a quiet Tuesday evening (they close at 8pm in April and through summer, as it's still light out during the later hours). I parked on Humboldt and Peninsula Ave to avoid any parking costs. All in all, a nice spot to appreciate the surrounding nature, whether going for a jog or spending leisure time with friends and family. read more

I have not been here in a long time. I remember going here when I was little for birthday parties. It can be windy so always be prepared and have a jacket with you. We had gone here for a picnic. The place itself was clean, and they were organized with all the different signage. Restrooms are clean, and there are definitely a lot nearby. There are a lot of tables to sit, if you get there early. There is plenty of parking as well. It's not a bad way to spend the day for $6 read more

Very big and beautiful marine park. The trails are gentle and even not hard for kids and seniors. The side walks along the sea are stunning and any random photo taken here is like a perfect postcard. There are a lot of giant trees with unique shapes. read more

It's amazing how recreation areas like this are readily accessible. One can walk to this area from 3rd Avenue in San Mateo. While the area is well maintained and developed constantly, it does not lose its natural beauty. There are a number of picnic areas with restrooms and ample parking. Magic Mountain Playground and CuriOdyssey are also found here although we did not check them out this time. The beachfront allows a clear view of airplanes approaching the San Francisco International airport runway. Numerous families take advantage of the playgrounds and picnic areas. We saw some enjoying efoil boarding, bicycling, jogging, fishing, boating, and sailing. Personally we came to hike the trails and Bluff Trail provides a lovely scenic path with panoramic views of the San Francisco skyline. Round trip from adjacent Seal Point Park was a 6 mile hike. There's more to explore in this area for sure. read more

Various areas with tables and seating and a bbq (reservations required), playground, outdoor gym, beach, park, and an ocean view. Make sure to bring a sweater or light jacket due to sudden strong gust since along the ocean. Pretty cool seeing the wind surfers and the airplanes flying overhead towards the airport. read more

Coyote Point is one of our favorite places to go walking. There are several different trails and most of them are fairly easy and flat. Depending on how many miles you want to do, you can walk from Burlingame all the way to Foster City and beyond on the Bay Trail. We often like to start right by the gun range at the start of Coyote Point. From there, you can walk along Bay Trail back to Burlingame or walk towards the boat harbor or towards Seal Point Park. The trails are all generally very clean, very little sightings of dog poop or any other trash. There are also lots of restrooms, garbage cans and poop bags along the way. We even paid for the annual parking pass for $72 which allows you free parking in all Sam Mateo County Parks. It's definitely worth it if you are a frequent visitor like us. The other plus is nice bay views and you can also watch planes take off and land. read more

I have a certain fondness for Coyote Point because this was where my dad took me fishing when I was a toddler. Cherubic as I was, I got so fidgety with my pole that I never caught a thing. I have the same problem now.. oh never mind. Flash forward to this past summer and here I am at the entrance gate wheee the reality of those elapsed years hits me when the young ranger told me I can park for free since it was obvious to him I was a senior. A senior? My life flashed before my eyes. But what the hell, I saved five bucks. Besides, I had enough energy to walk most of the trails that traverse the 149 acres that cover the recreation area. Much of the area around the beach promenade was fenced off due to renovation work, but the Marina and Shoreline Trails were fully open and attracting quite a few boaters and sea birds. There are distant views of San Francisco from the Bluff Trail where the area is most forested. It's definitely worth a stop here whether you're a six-year-old with a fidgety fishing pole or an aspiring senior with a fidgety...oh never mind. RELATED - Up for a hike? One of the few places you can actually take a dip in the Bay. My recent trip to Coyote Point included beach combing and a nap. Two things I love to do and am really good at. You get some nice winds coming off the Bay and a consistent stream of aircraft coming into a landing at SFO. On summer days, it's great to get your feed wet or actually go for a dip into the Bay. My last trip was not ideal for a dip because the water looked pretty murky. When I last visited there were some renovation happening on the hill near the beach. Perhaps this is why the water was uninviting. I'd love to go back after the work us finished so I can review how many stars I awarded. This is a special place and worth a visit once the renovations are completed. read more

Sat 5/22/21 went to Coyote Point Rec Area, San Mateo. They charge $6, others said no dogs. There's 7 parking lots, I parked near Magic Mtn. They have separate bathrooms, women's had 3 stalls, 1 sink, soap, hand dryer. Lots of families having picnics & parties. Many playgrounds, there's a beach area, we walked by Captain's House, CuriOdyseey, Merchant Marine Memorial overlook, Marina, and back. You can bring bikes and bike around. I love this area. You can walk, bike, sit & get nice photos taken by the Bay. There is parking fee and set hours for it though, so plan at least coming in 3-4 hours before closing time to enjoy it all. It has also nice hikes, not too long but you can sweat and get your cardio for the day on these trails. Bring your own snacks as there are scattered shops which do not have many options. There is a store that sells surfing and water needs if you are into that. It is fairly family friendly Bay Area. There is playground as well but I did not see any swings yet. read more

Great place for a walk/jog/run on the peninsula along the Bay. If you want to put the walking miles in, park on the street outside of the park so you don't have to pay for parking. This place combines beach, some woods, and marina. There are some small hills but easy for any pedestrian or beginning trail runner. There is a beautiful area of trees to be shaded by the sun. You're also able to see the planes fly into SFO airport as well as some boats sailing in the bay. There are benches that you can sit along the trail or even marina to see what I just mentioned. So if you want to go for a stroll along the tranquil water, this is the place to go to on the peninsula. read more

Review for paid reservation for eucalyptus are 3/4 Only reason I have two stars because we paid and reserved for both areas and NONE of our outlets worked to blow up our balloons with an electric pump. That's why it's two starts. My son and his gf picked this area to have their baby shower so we reserved Saturday the 24th I originally reserved the Sunday the 11th but they said that wouldn't work. They actually refunded that money back and I used it to switch dates to Saturday the 24th. It's a nice area close to the water location would be 4 stars if you live close to the area but I live in concord ca so that wasn't convenient. Make sure you bring soap for the bathroom. Eucalyptus areas 1-4 are close to the bathrooms so that's a plus ( just bring your own soap) MAKE sure your outlets work We paid over 200 something to reserve both areas 3/4 and NONE WORKED but we made it work with hand pumps. Areas 3/4 have a lot of sun so maybe having tents covering tables etc would work something to get shade because there is no shade at ALL :/ Area 1/2 has a little shade I regret not getting that area. Make sure to go early to check your outlets etc and that no one will take your tables when we got there some lady walked into our area looking around mugging the hell out of us but that wasn't even her area to begin with. The park is nice I would give 5 stars for it being clean, nice area but two stars for none of our outlets working when it was a paid reservation. When I think about it I didn't even need to have both sides one side would of been fine. read more

So so so many things to do! Excellent! Kids will love it. Entry fee is $6 per car but it is worth of each penny. fantastic place to spend time with friends and family. Coyote Point Recreation Area is very beautiful and very well maintained. We visited there first time and literally fell in love with the place. The Magic Mountain playground is quite decent size. You can see so many things to do like swings, slides, tube slides and other playing things for kids. Kids likes this area a lot. It is the best place to bring kids and they will enjoy as the park has so many other things to do other then playground like there is an open area where you can fly kites , trail, bird watching, photography, planes, picnic, huge trees, bunch of boats, ocean, etc etc, etc... This park is just across the San Francisco International Airport so you can literally see the planes taking off and landing very closely. So beautiful. The Eucalyptus Cove is very nice and you can see so many tall Eucalyptus trees and feel the smell of it. So peaceful. The Marina is with beautiful views of hundreds of boats.The trails are well maintained. Perfect spot for picnic Lots of benches are available. I love this place. read more

Agreed with one of the comments, not worth the $6.00 parking fee (I paid via credit card is it becomes $6.25). We spent about 40min by the marina. Nice view and quiet place. Ok for sitting on the bench and enjoy the sunny weather and gentle breeze. For people who walk dogs: beware of snakes. Picture attached. My dog loves to go potty and sniffy in the grass and he was sniffing something deep in the grass so I followed him to check out. And then I suddenly realized that that's a HUGE snake! We were just standing next to it with my dog attempting to sniff it! It's in the grass next to the deepest parking lot near the marina. read more

Great place to spend an afternoon or morning, especially with the kids, with different things to do to keep it interesting. Coyote Point Recreation is a county park, which means there is a $6/car fee. However, there are fee waivers, like if you have a disabled placard or plates. When you drive in, off to the right is Curiodyssey (a family favorite of ours, pre-covid!) and also the marina. By the waterfront, there's a large picnic/bbq area there with a lot of smaller areas, and also a decently-sized playground for the younger set (i.e. ages 2-5). Big bathroom facility there, all paved and easily accessible. We like spending a bit of time at the playground (hand sanitizer station there too!) and then walking along the waterfront for the kids to look at the moored boats, and then go to the boat launch area where there's a big rocky breakwater path that you can walk straight out a far distance. You can see planes taking off overhead, the boats going back and forth, windsurfers when the weather is good, plenty of water fowl. The path is wide and flat and the kids have a great time running up and down the path. When the herring is running, there's a ton of people fishing, but when the herring isn't running, there's fewer folks trying their hand. Next to Curiodyssey there's also a path that leads up to an overlook - also a nice paved walk up to the top where there's some platforms for beautiful views, and lots of benches for resting and having a snack. Great photo spots with the family! There's some cool carved 'thrones'/seats on some stumps along the trail that the kids like climbing on. The other side of the park is anchored by Magic Mountain Playground (the BEST playground around - a 3-story tube slide whaaaaaat) and a ton of picnic areas, and some huge grassy fields perfect for kite flying. There's also a smaller playground separate from Magic Mtn that's great for much smaller kids, which has a big push merry-go-round, a big pirate ship to climb and explore on, and some big animal statues to climb on. My kids could spend HOURS on that playground, so we always leave that one for last after we hang out at other parts of Coyote Point. When the weather is nice, it's great to just relax at some of the benches/tables or on the grass while the kids run their energy out. Go to downtown Burlingame afterward for an outdoor lunch/dinner to round out your day! read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem near San Francisco! It is a quiet, beautiful area that offers you wonderful scenes without having to beat a huge crowd. I came here on an afternoon in a weekday, and it was a refreshing place to run while enjoying the sights of the shoreline and kite-boarders. There are also many benches and a few tables facing the ocean that I think would be perfect for a picnic with a friend or date. I will admit that the parking fee was not ideal, but it's a reasonable price to pay for the serenity and charm this little park offers. I look forward to coming back here. read more

Considering how close this spot is to the Silicon Valley and the hustle and bustle of everyday life this place is really empty and a beautiful spot to come and picnic. Either a bbq or just some easy fixings as charcuterie and sandwiches will make it a pleasant day. You can enjoy the nice clean beach shoreline and watch windsurfers play along seeing planes en route to land at SFO. Plenty of parking and open grass to play in with some nice trails that takes you to and around the CuriOddyssey museum and the harbor around the point where you can get a higher perspective and see the San Mateo bridge and Foster City. Also within the park is the San Mateo Sheriffs Range so you might hear some gun shooting from time to time. As I lost this review the SPCA is nearly complete and now it looks like there's a entrance to the shelter from the park so that will be really nice. I usually come through here as part of my commute and find some time to relax before continuing on. The Bay Area Trail also runs through here also since it sort of bugs the Bay Area shoreline. With a minimal entrance fee this is a really beautiful spot to come spend the day or even a few hours to enjoy the view. read more

They've made no progress since I've moved here nearly 2 years ago to connect the path between the park and seal point park. There's been a sign blocking the trail saying it'd be done by 2022 and literally no work has ever been done on it, just wasted city tax dollars and detours making it useless and even a felony charge if you go on the trail. read more

This place is always a great venue for various events. I've attended picnics, birthdays, baby showers, and wedding receptions here. The entrance fee is $6 and there's plenty of parking inside. The weather is usually always warm and nice. I love the various areas and different attractions they have from a golf course to a kids playground to a mini beach. You can spend all day here and time just flies. I think this is more of a cost efficient option than renting a hall indoors, but that's just my opinion. Coyote Point never disappoints. read more

Magic Mountain playground is great with lots of structures for kids to play with and places to sit. Good place for a playdate, convenient off the highway and lots of parking. Only bummer is the $6 charge to enter. I guess they need to charge money or the place would be overrun. read more

Been taking advantage of the summer months here at Coyote Point, enjoying bike riding and watching the sunsets. I am rediscovering just how much space Coyote Point has. There are many daily activities here including hikes up in the Eucalyptus tree hills. There are also plenty of shaded areas for private parties which includes day use of their many BBQ grills. Even hot running water with stainless steel sinks for clean up is provided. There are also designated areas for overnight motorhome parking which is right on the waterfront, overlooking San Francisco Bay. They offer full hot showers and clean restrooms too. If you enjoy windsurfing, kayaking and fishing, this is the place to be. For the kids, there is The Magic Kingdom Playground as well as the Coyote Point Museum. FYI, daily parking fee is only $6 per vehicle and valid from open till closing. Lastly, as an avid cyclist, I take advantage of their paved and off gravel road, all awhile, admiring, observing and learning about their protected wildlife, and their breathtaking sunsets. Best of all, Coyote Point is only a thirty minute drive from San Francisco. read more
